I don’t know where yesterday went. We did some purging of unwanted and broken items. Both are backs are very unhappy this morning, so we probably won’t do too much today.
We have a tech coming out to do a generator checkup. We’re under a wind advisory and expecting heavy rainfall. They installed the thing in the rain, so I expect they will be here.
Tomorrow will be much colder and the city is setting up warming centers for those in need and warnings about leaving your cabinet doors open and a faucet dripping are going out.
I hope everyone is well today.

Speaking of cold landlords who want higher rent are evicting people and their kids out into the street at a horrid rate here.
33 at 7:30 this morning. Dog did business fast!
heat pump running non stop. I hate this king of heat because after a bit it freezes up outside and runs AC to defrost it. Net gain not much and who needs cold air. These things are great for hot days, but not made for temps in 30s or lower. Should say 30$!
might get to Trader Joe’s later when it warms up to 45! Tourists from north will be out on the golf courses.

Thanks for the start, Chele. I wondered what happened to you yesterday. How did the generator inspection go? Has your wind and rain event started? If your power gets knocked out, you're going to love that generator. I hope you and Iggy rest your backs today and feel better quickly.
Kathy, Saban's retirement was a surprise to me as well. I don't think there was much even on the rumor mill about it. I wonder if the Washington coach will be the top contender, and I heard Norvell's name mentioned as well. Did you hear me RFOL about Jimbo being available? You're probably right about an uptick in player transfers as a result of his leaving. What's the deal with FSU getting penalized for NIL infractions? I have to wonder how many schools will be right behind them on that. NIL is just too rife for abuse. Rumor has it the Vols freshman QB has $2 million in NIL contracts, which is an obscene amount for any player (if the rumor is true). Are you expecting the temperature dips some of us are predicted to get next week? The weather guy just said the low on Wednesday morning is supposed to be in the single digits. Not looking forward to that. I think you're right that Liz lives in a townhouse, so I'm not sure what they will be responsible for and what the HOA will pick up. I heard about your surgeon general's plan to stop Covid shots there. He's been a denier since the start, so I'm kind of surprised that didn't happen a few years ago. I hope the machine hog at the gym was also a resolution person. I've never seen him before, but people kind of float in and out and there are very few people that I recognize when I'm there.
Good that you live in an area where Covid isn't as widespread, Linda. So many of us here have wells and septic systems that we wouldn't get any reliable information from that process. That's so sad about people being evicted so the landlords can charge other people more money. That has to be illegal on some level if they have active rental agreements. Good for Minni doing what she needed to fast. Arya knows what it means when I say "quick quick quick" and usually obeys. We used to have ice build up in our HVAC system at the other house, but no so much here, especially with having a hybrid system where the furnace kicks on when it's really cold. Good luck getting to 45°. I hope you find lots of good things at TJ's.
We had a quiet morning, but the winds kicked up a little before Noon and we've had some good gusts so far. The power has gone out long enough to engage the generator 3 times so far, but by the time I picked up the phone to call the power company it was already back on. The winds have blown some of the deck furniture against the deck door from the living room, so I hope we don't have to go out there for any reason. Naturally, I have a freaked out dog. She wants to nap so bad, but she hasn't stopped pacing since the wind started. They are now saying to expect 1 to 3" of snow on Monday, so I may not make it to class. I'll be spending time in the kitchen this afternoon making a pot of white chili and a spaghetti pie. The latter will be for dinner tonight and the former for lunch tomorrow.

Linda, when I checked the temps on my weather app this morning I saw how cold it was in Tempe. I bet you’re getting good use from the electric mattress pad. We have a high flu percentage at the moment, some Covid and RSV, but flu is the big one. I think people forgot about the flu shot.
Karen, I saw your wind warning as well and figured Arya was having a meltdown. Every time you mention machine hogs and people who don’t wipe off the machines, I’m glad I don’t belong to a gym. Ugh. People. 😂 Chili and spaghetti pie sound good. We made veggie soup.
Kathy, you are probably the warmest of us all. I don’t think it’s right for the government to deny access to health care, especially in high tourist areas. I hope the surgeon general can be stopped.
The generator tech was here by 9 am before the rain started. He said everything looks good. Hopefully, we won’t lose power but we are prepared if we do. The rain and wind started mid-morning but we haven’t had strong wind gusts yet. Our single digit lows are supposed to start in Sunday. Hello, polar fleece.

Chele, I looked at the date today and wondered where this whole week has gone! I haven't heard if the surgeon general can actually stop the shots. I think there would be a big outcry from the medical community, but who knows. I'm glad I've already gotten the booster recently. I'm with you on gyms. Hope you won't need the generator, but at least you know it's in working order.
Karen, I think I heard us both laughing about Jimbo being available! It looks like FSU and Norvell are finalizing a new eight year contract with a nice raise for him, so I'm hoping that means he'll be staying. From what I read, the NIL infractions were committed by an assistant coach and involved a booster. I'm not sure on the details, but it sounds like the coach wasn't even at the meeting with the booster and his crime was that he gave the recruit a ride. I agree this is probably the first of many as the NCAA starts to look at these. The amounts of money going to some players are insane and don't seem like a great idea for the sport.
We're supposed to get in the low 80s today with the warm front. Then a cold front is coming down late tonight and cools us off some. They're saying it won't be as severe as the last one. It's supposed to warm up after that until the next cold front comes through and really cools us off. They're saying lows in the upper 30s next week so that will be the coldest so far. Hope your winds die down soon so poor Arya can get her nap.
Linda, we're having the same issues with higher rent and evictions. When the leases come up for renewal, there are no protections on how high they can raise the rent and a lot of the tenants just can't afford it. I have the same kind of heat pump system you do and agree it's not made for lower temps. It never really feels warm in here when it's cold outside.
