Linda, I hope things have warmed up a bit in your area, as the rest of us are plunging into a deep freeze. Did you have success at TJ's yesterday? I need to get to mine after Osteo some day, but there are too many other things I also need to do on those days. You've taken 2 lazy days in a row. Good for you! Interesting AARP article. I've seen all of the shows they highlighted except The Sopranos.
Are you under a winter storm watch like we are, Chele? This is about the time of the year that we seem to get snow and they are predicting 2 to 5" of the white stuff for Monday into Tuesday. Did your generator get tested with the wind? Our power went out at least 8 times yesterday, but the generator would kick on and within 30 seconds the power was back on. Very strange. We are still getting gusts today and poor Arya is so exhausted that she has fallen asleep and doesn't even realize the wind is still blowing. The chili and spaghetti both turned out well. How was your vegetable soup? Polar fleece sounds like a wonderful idea for single digits.
Kathy, I guess you saw that Alabama already has a new head coach. That didn't take long. I wonder how many of his staff he will be bringing from Washington and how many of his players will be entering the portal. Locking Norvell in long term is a good strategy. Have you seen the articles referring to Saban as the GOAT? Gimme a break! They seem to be forgetting that Paul "Bear" Bryant also coached at Alabama. Did you get the cold front they were predicting? Did you see that the Buffalo Bills are asking people 18 and older to come to the stadium today to help them shovel out the snow ahead of the wild card game with the Steelers? Wonder if they will require them to sign a waiver in the event they have a heart attack while shoveling.
I heard from Liz. The bulk of the storm damage will thankfully be covered by the HOA. They are expecting snow on Tuesday, which is supposed to be her next on site work day, which will be delayed if it does snow. I'm glad she has a little flexibility. I think she is getting another round of knee shots toward the end of the week. Her increase in activity seem to have reactivated the painful knees and back. She just can't catch a break.
The wind started howling again in the middle of the night, after tapering off a bit toward evening. So Arya and I didn't have the best night and I'm feeling it. I did a very brief workout and a load of laundry and that has been my day. I hope the wind will die down by bedtime because I need to sleep. At least we have sunshine, but temps haven't crawled out of the 30s and then there's the wind chill to contend with.

Karen, I just saw the news on the new Alabama coach. I wonder if that deal was already in the works when Saban resigned. It sure was fast! I'm glad FSU was able to keep Norvell. They've already picked up some transfers from Alabama. Saban will certainly go down in history as one of the most successful coaches, but I don't know about the GOAT. I think it's hard to compare some of the past greats with the current coaches since the sport has changed quite a bit. They play more games now, so they're going to have more wins for one thing.
The front came through and it is chilly out there, but not cold. We're in the 50s now, but won't get much colder tonight. I saw that about asking fans to shovel snow. I also saw some concerns about holding the Iowa caucuses due to the extreme weather. That's good news about Liz's HOA covering most of the damage. Hate to hear that she's dealing with more pain and hope the shots help. Hope the wind dies down enough for you and Arya to get a good night's sleep.
Slow day on the thread today! Hope everyone has a good evening.

Horrible weather. Hang in there. It is our cold weather leaving and heading east..that wind has been something else. Hope it got tired out here.
glad Liz's HOA does it.
Another hibernation day, mostly the puzzle. But I did sort out and realphabetize the spices….Ihave a lot on two double level turn tables.
that ended up rearranging three shelves of cabinet.

Karen, good choice for dinner right now.
kathy, yes, it seems like just as you get comfortable it gets cold inside again. Hate heat pumps in winter.
This is why after visiting my parents in Phx for Xmas in 1980, the going back to upstate NY, sliding down ice covered step from jet, hit by wind chill of -30 hurting inside, scraping the ice off the inside of the windshield constantly with credit card….getting bronchitis that first week back , we moved to Tempe, AZ. It has been 30-34 mornings here with wind ,and as we adapted to horrid summers, I dug out Bob's old heavy wool parka with hood to go out at night with the dog!

Kept getting the bear yesterday whenever I checked and couldn’t log in.
We have a wind chill advisory and a travel advisory for slick roads. We received a dusting of snow and might have another dusting but no serious accumulation.
The generator was not needed yet. I have a faucet dripping to prevent frozen pipes even though Iggy doesn’t think it’s necessary.
Poor Arya. She would have been pacing here, too, but the wind seems to have died down.
That!s good news about Liz’s HOA covering most of the damage. She had mentioned to me that her RA was flaring up since she had to switch medicines due to her other problems. I don’t know how she carries on.
Have a good Sunday.

Linda, I know that was quite a shock to the system, after spending Christmas in Phx, to go back to what you did in NY. I remember one Christmas we were in Pgh for Christmas with my family where we had snow and ice (plane deiced twice on the tarmac) and it was 80 when we got home to Austin. We were so happy to be home. Good that you were able to find Bob's old coat. Dale found one of his DF's old coats yesterday that is so big on him that he could get 3 sweatshirts under it and still have room to move. Did you have another quiet day? You're due, with as crazy as things usually are for you.
It doesn't sound like you'll get much snow, Chele, but even a dusting can make the roads slick with the cold weather your expecting. Be extra careful out there. We had a bit more wind today, but not as gusty as it has been for the past couple of days. We used to have to open cabinet doors and leave water dripping at the old house but made sure all the sinks here were on interior walls, which has been a big help. I totally agree on not knowing how Liz carries on. She hasn't mentioned the RA lately, which tells me the knees and back are worse than the RA is.
Kathy, how are things going with the Garmin? Have you gotten brave with the watch faces? I pretty much figured out what features I needed and determined which (free) ones had what I needed. I really like Distinct, the one I'm using now. I saw that the Bills-Steelers game got postponed. I hope they can clean up the mess by tomorrow afternoon. Buffalo is a place I wouldn't want to live due to the lake effect snow they get there frequently. I heard someone on the local sports say it's got to be really bad for them to postpone a game in Buffalo.
We are still under a winter storm warning for 3 to 6" of snow that is supposed to start around bedtime. I'm not planning to go to iTone tomorrow and will make up something similar to do here at home. I did some cooking and laundry today so I don't have a lot on tomorrow's agenda.

Brrr at your end. In low 60s today at last and sun made it warm for afternoon dog walk, just a sweatshirt.
i really do not see how Liz manages.
Will Arya get sleep tonight ? ( and therefore you?)
still in hibernating sloth mood. Kept at 1000 pice puzzled with tiny pieces I got at a swap. Finally, semi crippled from too much puzzle sitting, frustrated. With no progress and hard to pick up pieces plus dog stealing off table edge, I packed it up and threw it out. moved microway over to a different counter and lucky I did nit mess up my sciatica. Put the coffee makers (drip, single, and Nespresso)over where I had been by the sink. More work space now. Microwave took up lots of room and door swing space. Plus coffee canister is up on counter where needed and filters up over it in far cabinet. DH has hard time bending over to lower area to get it and out it back.
I recognize a combination springish urge to clean up and the rearranging stuff when you cannot rearrange your life and it’s issues! Wonder how many ulcers Trumo and Co.are responsible for ?
