CJ,I'm sorry it snowed in your areas causing the moving company to postpone the moving of your furniture but at least they were smart enough to do the postponing so that you didn't have to shovel probably at both places and also drive in the snow. I hope all goes smoothly next week
Ginny, I would not be happy if I was all ready to leave for work and they called at the last minute to tell me I needn't come in. The only thing I need to get straightened out as far as end of year paperwork is to receive my info from banks and ss and retirement info which don't usually get here until Feb even though they're supposed to have all that to taxpayers by Feb 1st.
I didn't know it was supposed to be below zero again last night and I don't think they said that on the local news and weather report. Dh heard pinging noises (which ended up just being house creaking) and saw that it was so cold so he put all the lights on that we use to keep pipes working ok
I'm on the last lamb...the third ...in making parts and hope to get them all done today then tomorrow I'll work on putting all the parts together. I saw a really nice pattern for a Snoopy and also one for a very cute puppy so I'll try to make them both. I still want to make a few little things for the girls that didn't request anything.I've been making the lambs with Premier Basix yarn but wanted to make one in yellow so grabbed a yellop Pound of Love. I can't believe how much thinner the POL is. Now I'm going to go up to my craft cave and see what color I can use for this last lamb.I don't thinkI have yellow in that yarn .

Hello Ginny - Hope you were able to get the baby quilt done Ruth - Hope you can find a good yard to finish that other lamb. I like Snoopy, so I think that would be a cute crochet gift. I'm so thankful the move was postponed. It's very cold here and supposed to be windy too. It would have been dangerous weather to be in, and I'm sure there are icy places on the roads and sidewalks. I put some of my sewing things back on a table and I was able to make the Moda blockheads block for the week. I debated on what color to use for that center square. The blue and the print fabric just sort of blended in, but it seemed like the red fabric "popped" a bit more. I'm really enjoying using these red, white and blue fabrics. I might end up with 25-30 blocks at the end of the quilt along, so it looks like it will make a pretty quilt. I hope I can do a bit more quilting this weekend too since the move is not for several days. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Have a good day

CJ,those red, white, blue squares are very pretty. I really like those three colors together. I haven't been able and probably won't do the putting pieces together on the lambs today. I've been busy cooking and baked some brownies as well as waited for a grocery delivery from Walmart and of course, a little housecleaning. I would never have delivery if dh hadn't gotten that special on that Walmart program that's like Amazon's prime and I for sure have not been impressed. Today they cancelled at least 3 of the items we ordered. Carrots, bread, and oatmeal. What, the Walmart store doesn't have carrots bread and oatmeal? . It used to be that if they didn't have something they would substitute and send an email notifying you and asking if that substitution was ok or did you want to cancel that. The also subsituted a similar item at a higher price and not charge the customer the extra cost. They don't do that anymore. So now you have to wait until the order is delivered to find they canceled whatever it was they didn't have so you can't order something else instead. One woman that was in my nursing school class decided to be a spokesperson for the class and let the rest of us know about things she thinks would be of interest to us so in the last three days she has notifiied us of the deaths of two more of our classmates. We're at the age where we are all at risk for passing away at any time. It's depressing.

Ruth, my condolences on the loss of two of your classmates from nursing school. Bad news like that is not easy to take, and as much as it is a blessing to have a long life, it does mean that this includes saying goodbye to many you have known. I am glad that you have your grandchildren to focus on and make sweet gifts for….something to keep your legacy going and something happy to focus upon. Wow, that stinks that Walmart is so sloppy at handling their online orders. Like you I cannot imagine that they are out of carrots, oatmeal and bread. I hope that you can manage without those items.\
CJ , as always your blocks are so pretty!! Think you are wise to use the red fabric for the block center…well done making those blocks. I am glad you are setting up some things in your sewing area, and hopefully the weather will cooperate and the moving company can get the large items to you soon.
I did my usual Saturday housework and got a bit more paperwork cleaned up. Still have lots to go….but I have made a dent in the paper purge, which feels good. And I did get the inner border on the baby quilt, and am starting on the outer border. I ordered more batting from Joanns for the quilt, which I will pick up either Monday or Tuesday from the store.

Good morning, As I sit here…and stare at the baby quilt across the room, I wonder what I will use for the binding. Think DD will be over tomorrow, and I will have the border on. I have plenty of fabric to make the binding the same color as the outer border and will most likely go with that. Oh I am ruminating over nothing…. Have a great day!

Quiet day here… I did get a nice walk in in the 28 degree weather but it was nice to get some fresh air. I have been doing indoor walks for the past few days because it has been so cold.
At the present I have the early football game on. The side border is pinned on the quilt- and I need only a few minutes to sew that in place. Tomorrow when Dd is here, we will decide what to do for the binding. I can use the same fabric as the outer border, buy a plain blue (navy) for the binding or make a pieced binding from the remaining layer cake squares. As nuts as it sounds I am leaning toward the pieces binding which I think will be really cute.
Yes gonna watch the second football game - and Ruth and I want the same team to win.
Ruth -are you getting any crocheting time in?
CJ- any idea when the moving company will transfer your larger furniture? I know you are really looking forward to that so you can finish setting up your home.

Hello - Hope you are both having a good day It's still cold here, but today is nice and sunny. I'm hoping it melts a lot of the snow and ice. Ruth - Sorry to hear about the loss of your former classmates. I'm finding more and more that people I know are passing away too. It's one of the sad things about growing older. That Walmart policy about not substituting a food is strange. Maybe they had a lot of complaints about what was substituted. But I agree with you that's it is crazy that they don't have any bread, carrots and oatmeal! Ginny - I'm glad you are making progress on your paper purge. I've had to do several of those and I know how tiring they are. Hope you enjoy seeing your DD tomorrow. I was able to get my table runner put together using the blocks from one of the quilt alongs last year, so that's one down and 3-4 to go. I hope to get another one done before moving day. And I started on a runner for the mantle in the rental house. I just used a long piece of fabric (nothing fancy) and I quilted it and now I just need to put on the binding. I also made a few blocks for this year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I really like participating in that each year and it's been a great way to use my scraps. This year I'm trying to use more of my 2.5 inch squares and a few fat quarters. I'm picking easy blocks to make so they will be quick. This month's color is green. And I added another row to my Temperature house quilt. Take care

A very hastily take image, but I wanted to send the picture to DD so she could see it.
CJ- glad you were able to work on your mantle runner and the table runner! All these little things help the new house feel more and more like home…Congrats on getting started on the rainbow scrap challenge blocks…and I do not blame you one bit for selecting easy blocks to work on. Think we do this because we want to have fun making pretty things, not lose our minds over difficult patterns.
Ruth - hope you check in later ….Go Bills!
