Between not opening the fridge all night and ice, which is mostly not melting, fridge was 35 this morning and milk was cold last night.
bought some primroses and perennial yellow daisies yesterday at Loweâs when I picked up the fridge thermometer. Going to plant them today in pots.

Kathy, I didn't realize iguanas were becoming invasive there. Do they have any natural predators? The big carts are super annoying, but I think it allows one person to pull multiple orders simultaneously (but I'm sure they still charge the same as the places that pull one at a time). Did you get as cold as they were predicting you would?
Don't sell yourself short, Linda. You could very much outlast repairs and remodels in your area, especially with the hot and getting-hotter weather you experience there. Liz is having to go to the office 2 days a week and, unfortunately, sometimes that ends up being consecutive days. They were expecting snow yesterday, so Wednesday and Thursday were the best weather days they had. Good news that the fridge stayed cold enough last night. Happy planting!
Chele, how much snow did you get? How did it go with the electric shovel? Are you expecting another couple of frigid nights before the weather starts to moderate? Are there problems on your roads today? We haven't been out today but have been waiting for a FedEx package since Tuesday. There was no logical reason it couldn't have been delivered on Thursday because the roads were clear. We have had an ongoing problem with their service since we moved here and have on occasion asked vendors not to ship to us with them. The package is supposed to arrive before 1:30 today, but I'm not holding my breath.
I didn't feel that great when I woke up. I had a headache and knee pain, plus my left eyelid is swollen for some reason. I did change the bed and launder everything and have done a couple of IP things. I need to core a pineapple and deseed some pomegranates, but I think that may be the extent of my activity today.

Karen, thanks for the start. We got about 4 inches of snow in total since Thursday. It should start to melt on Monday when we reach the upper 30s. The roads arenât too bad. Itâs the flippinâ drivers that donât know how to stay in their own lane. We had two cars last week that almost pushed us onto a sidewalk. Iâve had clothes both too big and too small that I hated to part with. I hope you donât miss your sweater too much, but, the good news is, all your work is paying off. Warm compresses will help the eyelid swelling. I hope you feel better soon. Linda, good news on the fridge keeping a good temp with the ice. The flowers so just eight for brightening your day. We have something similar to this shovel. www.amazon.com/Snow-Joe-24V-SS13-XR-24-Volt-Cordless/dp/B09MV6TC76/ref=asc_df_B09MV6TC76&mcid=484a7d1645d43c6c8417a44529116a34?th=1Kathy, like Karen, I didnât know iguanas werenât native to Florida. We should be in the low 40s by mid-week. I am looking forward to that. I like cold but not frigid. Iâm just glad I donât love in Alberta, Canada with lows -50°C. I am on Day 3 of the FitBit. I like it so far. I havenât learned enough of the bells and whistles for it to nag at me too much. For this I am grateful. Sometimes I wanted to throw the Apple watch out of the window. Bzzz. Bzzz. Bzzz. It is at 76% battery life so I might get close to the 10 days without charging. Yeehaw! I made this recipe for Roasted Garlic, Tomato and Zucchini Bake and it was delicious. It does have cheese but Iâm sure you could make it vegan, Karen. health.clevelandclinic.org/roasted-garlic-zucchini-and-tomato-bake-recipe?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=cc+tweets

Karen, I don't think the iguanas have any natural predators, so that's part of the problem. Here's some more info: Iguanas I think the shoppers here are mainly doing one order. You can see where they are on the map when they do the delivery and it's usually straight to here. I think it got into the 40s which is what they predicted. It's supposed to dip into the upper 30s tonight, so we'll see. I hope you're feeling better this afternoon. Chele, that sounds like our drivers when we get heavy rain. They still drive like it's a perfectly clear day. I can't even imagine temps at -50°C. I guess after a certain point, it doesn't matter how much lower it goes. I'm not looking forward to the 80s. This cooler spell has been nice. Glad you're liking the FitBit. Mine used to bug me if I hadn't moved much that hour which was a nice reminder to get away from the computer. The Garmin is doing that sporadically. I think the FitBit just keyed on how many steps you had that hour. I'm not sure what the Garmin is doing! I'm copying that recipe. It looks delicious and is easy enough for even me to do. Linda, that's good that your fridge is staying cool enough with the ice. Those flowers sound pretty.

Hope the weather gets better.enough already. Still cannot get my head around falling iguanas.
Been puttering . Got the primroses planted in two pots and the yellow daisies ..one in ground and one in pot. Cut the dead stuff off a poor small palm and redid the water source. Started cutting back dead parts of the summer vinca that actually survived.lots to do
worked on tax stuff, washed dog blankets, did kitchen stuff. Finally took my small German food scale to Batteries Plus because the battery I had did not fit. Have give him points for not laughing because the number on it was hard to read. It was CR2450. The appliance takes CR 2430âŚoops he could not get Bob's old watch opened for new battery. He stopped wearing one in 2020 until Igot him a new one for Xmas. Have to try jewelry place nearby that makes their own stuff.
Really tired and achy. New weather moving in for three days. Took a hot bath
Off to heat RAO pizza to get it out of the freezer. Have a bistro pear, cuke, salad with balsamic dressing.
well, not enough energy to make salad.

.So tired and achy last night I couldn't sleep until midnight, then did not wake until dog bounced against the bed at 8:30. Evidently I did not even notice it before or hear her cry in the hall so DH got up and took her out, and good thing because right after that, rain started. Sort of sleepy stupid yet and still aching.
have a good a day.

Linda, you must have been exhausted to have not heard Minni this morning. And, to not have the energy to make a salad last night puts the exclamation point on that. I hope you can get a lot of rest today. How cold was the fridge this morning? Did you say the new one is coming on Tuesday? What brand did you end up with?
Thanks for the reminder about moist heat, Chele. I have a USB moist heat eye pad that I use every morning but started using it multiple times yesterday. I still have some swelling but feel a lot better than I did yesterday. I think the extreme cold is getting to all three of us here. But a warm up is on the way. How cold did you get this morning? It was 5° when I took little miss out after breakfast. The only part of my face that is exposed when I go outside is my eyes, so I wonder if my problem is related to that. How is Iggy's back? I always like my Fitbits, but I didn't like having to use 2 different apps to record my data, and 8 years ago Fitbit was not making waterproof anything and apparently still don't. I think many of them are water resistant, but I killed one in water aerobics when I forgot to leave it in my locker before class. So that's reason #2 I switched to Garmin. Thanks for the garlic, tomato, zucchini recipe. It looks like the parm is the only thing I would need to sub for. Definitely will have to try that.
Kathy, like Chele, we have "those" drivers here as well. Some of them are tourists, but we have many locals as well. I didn't even stop at the gym on Thursday because I wanted to get home before the next round of inclement weather started and the crazies didn't have enough sense to stay home. LOL on your not looking forward to 80s and I'm very much looking forward to 60s. You can turn off all the nags on the Garmin somewhere under User Settings I think. I just have mine set to alert me when I reach my step goal for the day and intensity minutes for the week. That's plenty of info for me. Are you planning to watch the Bucs play the Lions today? Were there any falling iguana reports on your news?
As I said, I'm feeling quite a bit better today and managed to do a good workout on the 'mill. Weekly loaf of sourdough is in the oven and I'll be starting a pot of minestrone for Dale as soon as I post this. I'm all for doing anything that entices him to eat more beans and veggies, and Elvis does most of the work anyway. The sun is out and things are melting, but it's still only 23°. MG president called me yesterday for my thoughts on doing tomorrow evening's meeting over Zoom and I told her only if it's everybody on Zoom and nobody in person (hybrid meetings are a major pain). I think some folks are a bit concerned about the drive. The temps should stay above freezing as long as we don't lollygag after the meeting, so I told her I would be there if we did it in person. Haven't heard what she decided. Too bad the warmer temps didn't hit over the weekend so it wouldn't even be an issue. Oh, well, no longer my decision.

Fridge got to 40 after I kept opening it for coffee milk and getting breakfast and adding ice. We shall see. most of the ice is still not melting much. Recommendations for best single door with bottom freezer on multiple sources were Whirlpool. So that's what we got. They all pretty much same but this lacks a cheese/ /meat drawer. I'll just use a fridge bin . For some reason stainless steel had a nice discount. It will match dishwasher. Oven and cooktop are still black. Fridge is white and stands out like the proverbial sore thumb.
thawing the other half of the Xmas prime rib for tomorrow. You can never get one for two people. That takes a lot of space. Hope I can fit what will not go into little freezer we bought during COVID and a
last two big weather changes really set off arthritis.
I probably should see my knee guy because right still hurts on and off where the bruise was and it did not hurt before I landed on it two and a half weeks ago. Might need x ray. Do not really want to see how much worse it is.
DH managed a short walk for Minni who is refusing to pooh in the yard again and saving it for a walk. She was great for about five days then stopped!?? He got out with light rain before the rest arrives. Going to be a glooming, damp three days. I put new tea candles into the six glass containers that go into a stand in the fireplace. Got tired of cleaning out ashes.

Karen, Iâm glad you are feeling better and the swelling is going down. It was 9° this morning and is 26° now. The sun has been shining all day and some melting of snow is happening. Iggyâs back is better but he is wary of hurting it again. We are expecting freezing rain Monday night/Tuesday morning.
Linda, I am glad the ice is holding out. Wow, sleeping through a Minni nudge. You must have been so tired. I am sorry to hear the knee is not improving. Good idea to get it checked.
Kathy, youâre right about the FitBit keying on the number of steps in an hour. Itâs 250. I wouldnât be happy about 80s either. Weâre just happy we will be in the 40s soon.
Iggy made my made curried fish casserole today. He almost put some âchefyâ flourishes to it and I am glad he didnât. I like my Midwest curry version and donât need it to be authentic. He wanted to add cardomom and milk to make it more like an Indian curry. 1. I am not a big cardomom fan. 2. I am not a big fan of cream sauces. Thank goodness he decided to leave it alone.
I am definitely getting more activity wearing the FitBit as I had stopped wearing the Apple watch. I hadnât realized how lazy I had gotten not having a tracker. I donât wear it to sleep because I would create more anxiety around sleeping if I were tracking it. It is not waterproof and instructions said to dry it immediately if it got wet.

Karen, glad you're feeling better. I like having the move nags on the Garmin, but was hoping to be able to adjust them. After much searching around, I found the settings for the Move alert, but all you can do is turn it on or off. According to the manual, it's time based instead of step based, so if you haven't moved in an hour, it nags you to get up and move. It sometimes does this while I'm moving though! As Chele said, the FitBit is just based on how many steps you've taken in that hour. I could do just about everything I wanted on the FitBit watch itself. I'm still trying to get the hang of having to use the phone with 2 apps, the watch and the desktop which seems to have different menus and data. I can see why you prefer the Garmin for your activities and tracking. I didn't watch the news since I was watching the Bucs game. It was 17-17 going into the 4th quarter, but the Lions went up by one score and that's how it ended up. My DBIL will be happy. He roots for the Bucs except for when they play the Lions. So, I guess I'm rooting for the Lions now too since all of the FL teams are out! Chele, same here on the inactivity. I got out of the habit of wearing the FitBit all of the time during the pandemic for whatever reason. I'm liking the nudges to get up and move. I'm also the same on not wearing it while sleeping. My Garmin is waterproof, so that will come in handy if I get caught in a downpour. I used to hurry and put my FitBit in my purse when that happened. I didn't know there was a Midwest curry version, but it sounds like I would like that more than the authentic one too. I had a package notification from Fedex that said it was out for delivery, but would be delivered on the next business day. Huh? Then I got a notice that it had been delivered. I opened the door and it was cold and windy out there! We got down to 36°, but are quickly warming up this week to the dreaded 80s. It's not so much the 80s as it is the humidity that comes with it.
Linda, sounds like the ice will hold out until you get the new fridge. Hope you got some relaxation in today.
