Today I take credit for tracking this week, weighing and measuring, keeping the right food in the house, trigger food out of the house, and keeping up with my online support groups. Also, staying on plan even though I have a bad cold. Gratitude that basically my husband and I are healthy.

Credit for mostly staying on my plan, credit for mostly tracking and now going back to Healthi to track to change things up a little bit, credit for journaling about hunger/satiation/dealing with cravings. Credit for exercising as much as I was able to while still dealing with a foot injury. bbbearsmom, Hope you feel better soon.

How much do you think the environment (physical, social, political, & economic) has influenced your weight over the years?

I think my home environment led me to be thinner when I was younger, and then when I got married the first time I married into a family of eaters and that environment led me to gain weight when I copied their habits. I've never had friends that were eaters so that has kept safe when socializing. I still have to watch myself around food though, especially sweets. The push toward thinner bodies in society in the 90's didn't affect me. I just wondered why there wasn't all this fuss about being thin when I was super thin when I was younger. The push to be healthier and eat better food has affected me and led me to make some changes.

My environment affected me when I was growing up - food was always home cooked and healthy and no "junk" food was in the house except on rare occasions - and I was a healthy weight. When I went away to college it was the opposite - food wasn't healthy and it wasn't home cooked and I gained weight. Since then 50 years later, I've struggled to manage my weight and I've worked hard to keep a healthy environment around food. Thankfully economically I've been able to provide myself with healthy food and physical exercise. Socially - I've probably been impacted by what society has accepted to be the way to look attractive, and I want to look that way. But I never thought of wanting to be extremely thin.

This week I will make sure I track everything, weigh and measure, keep the right food in the house and my trigger food out of the house, and keep up with my online support groups. My me-time is my computer and reading time.

My plan for the week is to continue to eat healthfully, to track what I eat, to eat per hunger/satiation/deal with cravings and to journal that. I'll also exercise as much as I'm able to.

Wednesday, 01/24 Did you feel empowered when you had lost your weight and gotten to goal?

When I lost my weight, I was on top of the world and thought I knew everything about weight loss. I've since learned I don't know everything, and everyone is different. There had been so many years I hadn't even tried to lose weight because I thought I couldn't do it. I felt amazing that I did it. I miss the fire I had when I started and then when I first made goal.

Yes I felt very empowered when I got to goal - all 4 times. Obviously I didn't have that much power because for the first 3 times I had no idea about how to maintain.
