Hello - Hope you are both doing well and having nice weather. It's in the 70s and sunny here today! The movers came yesterday and all my furniture has finally been moved to the rental house. I'm so relieved that is done, it's been almost a month trying to get that organized. Now I have to unpack the boxes and put things back into the cabinets and bookcases. I hope to get that done over the next few days. Once that is done I can set up my sewing table and put my machine on it where I want it to be. It will be nice not to have to take it up and down all the time. I was very fortunate because it was damp, but not really hard rain yesterday. There was a little bit of light rain when they were bringing the furniture into the rental, but they had it all covered up nicely so nothing got wet. Take care and have a good weekend

CJ, I'm very happy to hear that your furniture and anything else that they needed to bring to your new home was delivered and handled well to keep everything nice and dry. Unpacking is a chore but at least when it's done all that will be off your mind and you are almost completely done with everything.
I've spent the day so far organizing a little bit. I started out looking for on particular item and in the process did the organizing of the things I went through to try to find it.I never did find that but I did find even more unfinished projects most of which I ripped out. I also organized a tote bag with everything I'll need in order to crochet while dh is having his surgery and recovering. We don't know when that will be but at least I have that part ready.
I think I'm done making the requested things for the dgc. I have the lamb parts done but decided not to sew them together right now. I'll send something else for the baby instead. The puppy I made for youngest dgs is far from perfect but it really cute.
And I love your weather. I'd love the 70's!!!

CJ- 70’s and sunny?? Yikes…seems too soon for that, it’s January. I am so very very pleased to hear that the moving company did a professional job of moving your furniture and keeping it safe and dry for you. Now you can take your time getting the house set up with all your furniture, and placing it in rooms where you want each piece. Have fun setting stuff up…while you are looking forward to getting your sewing table and machine set up!!!
Ruth, bless you for making so many requested items for your grandkids. Glad you are taking a break, I can imagine that the lamb is going to be so cute but sewing it all together might be frustrating. I figure that puppy for DGS is adorable….and yes he will love it.
So glad the weekend is here! Got my oil changed today and they checked my car out….after my little altercation with a deer. I am very thankful to learn that there was no damage to the car and they did replace the license plate bracket (which cracked when the deer was hit). So glad it’s Friday and I have no plans to go anywhere tomorrow but will quilt……

Hello - Hope you are both having a good day. It actually got up to 80 here yesterday - a record for the day! Hope your weather has been nice too. Ruth - It's nice to organize sometimes, hope you got things the way you want them to be. I bet that puppy is really cute. Ginny - I must have missed that you hit a deer. I'm so glad that you are alright and that your car wasn't damaged. I've been opening boxes today and putting things away. I still have about 12 boxes to open and hope I can get some more done today and then finish tomorrow. I can see that I have too many knick knacks. Many of them are things from my parents or things I bought when I used to travel, so they have memories for me. I won't be taking all of these with me when I move from here. I just can't keep lugging these things around. Hopefully I will find a house to buy and then I can decide which ones I want to keep. I'd sure like to work on some quilting, maybe I can tomorrow if I get a lot done later today. Take care

Wow, CJ, I must have missed something…I know you have always referred to this house as “the rental” but I never really thought that you would consider moving again. Moving sure is tough work… are you planning to unpack all the Knick knacks…or keep them packed (where at least they will not break or be damaged). Tough decisions figuring out what to hold on to and what you can might be willing to part with. I hope that putting things away is going well. It would be great to hear that you were able to get some quilting time in. And 80 degrees?? Yikes, I am much happier in my 40 degree weather.
Ruth, hope you have been able to get some crochet time in and that your temperatures are comfortable. I know you would love CJ’s 80 degrees!!
No 80 here, it made it to the low 40’s. I did get some housework done, and also got a walk in. I saw DD and the little ones…and have now been just enjoying a favorite movie series. I do need to start working on the quilt sandwich for the baby quilt and will go check out the backing fabric to see if I need to piece it or can use it as is. I am almost looking forward to piecing it as then I can iron the smaller pieces and then sew them together. I dislike ironing large pieces of fabric.

CJ,I didn't know either that you were considering the possibility of buying a house...well I know you thought of it before but when you decided to rent I thought you decided that rental was the way to go permanently. I hope that you'll find a really nice house in a good area that is also a good price. I have a lot of knicknacks also but I did get rid of some a couple years ago. I'm constantly looking at mine and thinking about which ones I will want to take with me when we move. There are a lot of things that family has given me and some from ds and ddil with the children's pictures on them that I'll definitely be keeping. I do have a few that I bought from auctions, etc that have a little value but not seriously valuable. I also have collections of other things that I also have to make decisions about. The one thing that will sound strange is that I have a collection of matchbox car farm vehicles but I'm going to send those to the grandsons.
Ginny, I didn't know you hit a deer.I'm so thankful you weren't injured (well at least you didn't mention an injury) and I'm glad there was little damage to your car. I hit a deer once and it did cause a lot of front end damage but just the structure of the care not any parts neccesary to drive it.I hope the quilt sandwich goes together easily.
I was thinking of packing the box of things tomorrow that I crocheted for the grands but realized that there are two football games I would like to watch so I should have packed it today but, well maybe Monday.I'd like to get this done so we can go back to being hermits.
Have a great evening

Good morning!! Ruth, that absolutely does not sound strange that you would want to send the matchbox farm vehicles to your grandsons…matchbox cars are a toy that seems to last longer than most, in terms of that even older kids enjoy them. And to have a nice set of farm vehicles would be something special. Hope you can get your boxes packed and ready to send. I remember you wanted to mail them this week (I think). Enjoy the football games today. Think that it will be an interesting day- I am not a fan of any of the remaining 4 teams but can envision myself supporting one of NFC the teams to get through the Super Bowl.
Last week was nuts….Monday I left home early to drive to DD’s house and did my usual drive at the speed limit. I was on a stretch of road that is fairly rural and winds a lot. And there’s a double yellow line so you can’t pass the car two vehicles behind me decided to pass me and the vehicle behind me. And it was still dark out. The sun had not come up, I had nowhere to go but roll over a deer that had been already hit, but was still very much alive. Can’t say that I feel very good about it, but it was the only thing I could do as the road has no shoulder and the irresponsible driver, who passed two cars in a no passing zone, was on the left side of me . The gas station I was going to was only 2 miles further down the road. While there I stopped to inspect for damage I had no idiot lights on my dashboard, and I moved the car several times on the pavement to see if it was dripping, which it was not. Seem to drive well so that’s the way I approached the entire week was every time I moved the car after being parked for a little bit. I checked for leaks, took lots of pictures, and prayed that there was no damage that I could not see. From what I can see the biggest damage was to the license plate bracket that the dealership puts on which was replaced when I got the oil changed. I am very thankful that all seems to be ok.
I found a neat video last nite on how to set up for piecing the backing fabric, she made it seem so easy! So my backing fabric is pressed and pieced and I hope to start making the quilt sandwich a bit later on.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you weren't hurt hitting the deer and that your car is alright. Those drivers that endanger everyone else are the worst! Hope you can start making your quilt sandwich today, it's great that you found a tutorial for the backing. Ruth - Hope you enjoy the football games and that you can get the things packed up for the grandkids. I was in a grocery store recently and they had a sales display with matchbox cars, so those things are timeless and I'm sure will be enjoyed. Since I don't know how long I can be at this rental after my one year lease is up (the owner will then consider a month-by-month lease), I have to decide if I want to keep renting in the area and possibly have to move to another house, or if I want to buy another house after my house is sold. I do hope they will extend my lease for a least a few months so I wouldn't have to move in the winter again. The lease is only approved by the owner, and has nothing to do with the actual 55+ community. I probably don't want to buy a house around where I'm living right now, and also the price points are a bit out of my range. I really don't want to move far away, but I might have to do that. It's scary to me to think I won't have a home that is my own to live in, but I do like the less responsibility of a rental. I'm going to have to make a lot of decisions about my future this year. I've unpacked all the boxes except the one that is full of office supplies - I have a lot of office supplies I need to figure out where I'm going to put them. I've also broken down all the boxes and I'm going to store them and all the bubble wrap in the garage since I'll need them again sometime in the future. I am happy to see all my things stored in my china cabinets and I'm glad that I brought them with me. I know I'll have to get rid of most of them someday, but I'll enjoy them for now. What I'm left with is a stack of things that were stored in furniture I didn't bring with me so I'm going to put it all out on a long table and figure out what I need to keep and where I'll store it. It will be nice to finally get done with all of this. I'm not sure I'll feel like setting up my table to work on my quilting today, but I'll see. If not, I know I can get to it this week. Take care

Good morning altho it's afternoon where you both are.
Ginny, that's one of the things i dislike about Indiana, The roads are narrow and curvy not to mention hilly. i do only the speed limit and i'm sure that people behind me get aggravated that I don't speed up.I was surprised to see how rural Indiana is.I'm glad you had little damage but the whole incident was, I'm sure, frightening. Did either of those drivers stop to see if you were ok and give you their info. I wouldn't be surprised if they did not. I'm not a fan of any of these teams either but I'd like to see the poor Lions win since they haven't even been in any post season games in 31 years. Oh and the strange thing I meant about the Matchbox farm vehicles is not that I'm sending them to the grands but that I have them at all.Besides those I have a large bucket full of other Matchbox and Hot Wheels that I've had since oldest grandson was little which was 33 years ago and children have been playing with them ever since so now I'm dividing them up with half going to Indiana and the other half to dd's house for the great grands
CJ, I hope you're able to complete the tasks you planned to complete today. I hope you can get in some relaxation time too.
Since I decided not to make anymore crochet items right now to send I am working on hats for something simple to do. I finished one that I had started who knows when and will work on some more of the unfinished ones today.

CJ- well I hope that your current landlord will be gracious and flexible with you should you need another month or so, or whatever works for you. I do pray that you can find something that you can purchase, as opposed to rent. Bet that it’s comforting to see your china closet set up!! there are new 55+ communities sprouting up in many areas (funny CJ I thought you were only 40! Ha ha ha, please do not be offended we are all north of 55 here, I suspect). I am just pleased for you that you have found a place to start…. And can hopefully move into something else when you are ready.
Ruth, oh heck no! No one stopped (the brilliant idiot who passed me and forced me into the predicament) ended up being the vehicle in front of me (lot of good his bone head move did) and I did drive with my high beams on when he was in front of me. The vehicle behind me slowed down considerably to get around the animal…I kept on going, again banking on that the car seemed driveable and that I was stopping in a short distance to fill my gas tank. I figured I would check the car out then. Sorry I misinterpreted the matchbox car situation…but I know your grandkids will love them. Mine do…. Hats sound like a great thing to work on- much simpler than lambs and puppies.
Gonna make some oven fried home made chicken nuggets…and perhaps some brownies. Then time to watch some football. And most of my roads are narrow, hilly and curvy.

Sunday night? Really….. what a bummer. At least this week has the potential to be easier than last.
I did get the backing fabric attached to the batting and will work on attaching the quilt top another time. Guess I have decided to quilt this myself- will see how bulky it seems before I decide how I will quilt it. I am leaning toward random stipple but that will depend on how bulky the quilt seems to work on.
Sleep well….
