This week I tracked some days, weighed and measured, kept the right food in the house and my trigger food out of the house, and kept up with my online support groups. I am grateful my husband and I are still healthy.

Credit for tracking almost every day and for following my plan every day. Credit for journaling about hunger/satiation/dealing with cravings. Credit for exercising 4/7 days.

Initially I started losing weight for health reasons and specifically to not get Type 2 Diabetes. After I lost the weight, I realized there were other advantages such as I had less back, foot, and knee pain, I was also more comfortable in general, plus it was easier for me to be mobile. Also, I wear out clothes now not outgrow them.

For many years, my reason for wanting to lose/maintain was how I looked and how clothes fit. That went on for about 40 years of up and down weight. Recently, I have a medical reason to be careful about what I'm eating and to lose/maintain my weight. This has been a somewhat stronger motivation for me, though the looks and clothes reasons are still strong too.

Tuesday, 01/30 Today is the day we share what our goals are for the week and how we'll spend our me-time.

My main goal for the week is to try to get back to tracking my food. I stopped again. What would help is me doing it earlier in the day instead of waiting until the end of the day. I'll keep up weighing and measuring, bringing the right foods home and not bringing home trigger food, and keeping up with my online support groups. My me-time is my computer and reading time.

My plan for the week is to continue to eat healthfully per my plan which is to pay attention to hunger/satiation/cravings and to journal that. I'll also continue to track. I'll exercise as much as I can. bbbearsmom, Judy sorry you're having to address tracking issues. I can sympathize - don't know that I can offer a lot of advice. For me, it sometimes helps to change things up once in a while - I recently started tracking on Healthi and am giving MFP a break. But now I'm missing tracking micronutrients that I can do on MFP, and there are some of those that I really need to watch. So I may be back to MFP sooner rather than later. And I think you already track on 2 trackers, so there's probably not a lot of things you can do as far as changing things.

susan092907, Thanks for the comments. It is just a mood I'm in. I've been feeling under the weather, and I think that is part of it.

Do you think being overweight/obese is a disease?

I don't think it is a disease. I forget whether or not the medical people have decided if it is a disease. I think people can have conditions that bring about being overweight/obese for example having a low thyroid or coping with trauma or stress by eating. In my opinion there are many different reasons for being overweight/obese and the trick is to find out which ones apply to you and deal with them. My problem was I taught myself to overeat and didn't pay attention to my eating until I had a health scare.

I don't think it's a medical disease. Maybe it's a social disease - our society is filled with strong forces that encourage unhealthy and over eating. That's why WW as originally started was so successful - the group influence helped people to eat in a way that helped them manage their weight. bbbearsmom, Hope you feel better soon.
