Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Happy Monday!! Well we have had 8 or 9 views already. Hope everyone slept well!! I gave up on football last night (well I did check the second game from time to time) but was happy with the mystery movie I had on last night and working on the beginning of the quilt sandwich. It still needs work, and I am still considering taking the quilt to church where I can use the large tables to facilitate spreading the quilt out and making sure all layers are even and without wrinkles.
Looks like schools are on time today- whatever snow fell last night fell early.

Good morning Ginny and CJ. Yes I didn't look to see how many views we had but none of them was me looking in.
Ginny, I think it's a great idea to take your quilt to church in order to have a large table to put it on. It sure will make it easier.
I'm enjoying the warmer weather that we've had the last couple days and are supposed to have all this week. Nothing like the 70's and 80 that CJ had. It's up to 50 so I'm happy. Usually February is our worst weather month so I'm not looking forward to the change
I'm going to get the box together today to send but I did find a cute little crochet change purse to make for the girls. I changed the pattern though because the pattern calls for double crochet which really leaves too large of holes for a change purse to I changed to hdc and a fairly small hook and adjusted accordingly. Each takes about maybe a half hour to make.
I'll be back later.

Think Wednesday am will be the perfect day to take the quilt to church to borrow their tables for an hour to make sure the quilt has a lot of room to make the quilt sandwich.
Ruth, so glad you found those change purses to make and were able to modify the pattern so they are more practical. Who needs a change purse that has big holes…. Like you, February is my coldest month. This week is not all that warm for me. 50 degrees is pleasant for a “winter” day, although not so good for plants and animals that actually need the cold for true dormancy.
An absolutely and nutty day but thankfully everything is ok. Will fill you in tomorrow.
CJ- hope your unpacking is going well and that you are setting up your sewing room!

Hello Ruth - I'm glad you've had some milder weather. Hope you can get everything together so you can mail your box. Ginny - Sorry to hear about the nutty day, but I'm glad everything is O.K. Just for fun, I'm going to try to count how many times I read this thread this week and see how much it is I went to my house today just to check it out and fortunately everything was alright. I brought a few more things back, but I think I'm just about done with things I want. Now will be the fun (sarcasm) of getting the rest of the stuff out of there. I plan to call 1-800-Got-Junk to do that. I did get everything put away yesterday except for the office supplies. I just finished sorting them into categories and they are laid out on a 6 foot table (my sewing table). Now I just need to figure out how I want them stored. I did have a few odds and ends that I can't figure out how where to store - that probably means they are junk I also flattened all my moving boxes and I need to wrap them up and store them so I'll have them when I move again. I'm hoping to get all these things done soon since I'd really like to do some quilting again. Take care

Hello - Hope you both had a good day. I finished putting everything away so I was able to set up my sewing/pressing tables and I made the Moda blockheads block and Pat Sloan's weekly block. I'm not happy with either of one them and I think I'll pass on doing Pat Sloan's block Wednesday this time. I'll keep doing the Blockheads though and just leave the block as it is. It's an adjustment to get used to my new setup, I had things just the way I liked them at home, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Tomorrow I want to get up to date with my Temperature quilt blocks, since I'll be able to put the whole month of January together on Thursday. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care

CJ- well I figure that as I am typing you are also responding….that seems to happen a lot here. Progress for you!!! If you are ready to call 1-800 got junk, then the end is near. I hope that they are prompt and helpful for you. I know the realtor I used for my mom’s house did recommend them. So what is the count so far for reading this thread? Or are you just going to give us a total for the end of the week. It does seem as though you are progressing nicely with putting things away. Wonder if different storage options (not sure what they might be, but I am just chatting) might help you for your office supplies. It’s a challenge to think how you might want to store things so that it works for you. And I hope you were able to get some quilting time in.
Ruth, how is your day going? Did you finish the change purses?
Drove one DGS to the other DGS’s house today so that I could visit with DD and the little boys could play together. They had a great time and it’s funny to see them play. My crafting today was to help DGS paint….ha ha ha

CJ, I'm glad to hear that you were able to get everything put away and set up your table, etc. As time goes on you will probably do a little bit of moving some things to new places that are more convenient for you. I'm sorry the two blocks you made are not what you thought they would be.And yes, Thurs is the 1st already.
Ginny, I',sure the boys enjoyed playing together. And,Yes,it's probably best to finish the baby's quilt before you start another
I did get the change purses made yesterday except for the button so I did that this morning. Sewing on the buttons was a big job compared to crocheting the actual purses.
It's supposed to go up to 60 tomorrow. It was close today and I love it.All week it's supposed to be mild so we'll see what happens after that.

For my area I dread warm winter days, because that means that the dreaded deer ticks are not killed off at all and then cases of Lyme disease increase. (One more reason to dislike yard work).
Ruth, glad you got the change purses done complete with sewing the buttons on! What is next on your project list?
I hope to get that quilt sandwich done today….and yes the only thing that makes sense is to get the baby quilt done and then move onto the temperature quilt. Unless all those triangles (temperature quilt) drive me insane I think it will be a nice project, because it can be paced based upon the weather each month.
CJ- hope you are setting things up now just as you like them. Why are you not pleased with the blocks you did yesterday ?

Hello - Hope you are both having a nice day It's cloudy and cool here, but not bad. Ginny - I hope you can get your quilt sandwich done. I understand what you are saying about the weather not being normal. It has been so different for many years that it has really messed up the way nature was supposed to work, in my opinion. I hope you can start on the temperature quilt. I used the 8 at a time Half Square Triangle method to make several of them in the colors I knew I'd be using for this time of year - temps in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. I didn't expect to need an 80 degree one in January! I'm going to make that today and get the rest of my January house together. Then I just need to put the top of the tree on for the temperature on January 31st. I think I've viewed the page 6 times this week, so far. Ruth - I'm happy you are having milder than normal weather, and I hope it lasts for you. Hope you can get the buttons on the change purses too. The thing that is different with my quilting setup is that I've switched out the tables I used for the sewing machine and the pressing/cutting. The one I have the machine on now "bounces" a bit when the machine is working since it folds in the middle - the other table was one piece. I'll have to see if it bothers me enough to change things. I just wasn't happy with my fabric placement and selection on the two blocks I made yesterday. And Pat Sloan's block had 16 half square triangles and I just felt like I didn't want to make another 15 more blocks for that quilt along. When I saw today's Moda Blockheads block and realized it was almost the same as the one I made yesterday (for last week), I just feel like I don't even want to continue this quilt along. Maybe I need a break from these quilt alongs for awhile. I'll have to think seriously about it. I need to finish making the tops for the blocks from last year's quilt alongs, so I might just focus on that. I will keep doing the Temperature quilt and some blocks for the monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Maybe then I'd have time to make quilts from kits I have and other projects I've wanted to do. Take care and have a good day

Ginny, you're moving right along on that baby quilt. I hope today's sandwich making goes well. You definitely have a good point about the mild weather and how it disturbs the cycle of many things including the deer ticks.I didn't think of that but Indiana has an abundance of those ticks. Dh and I were both bitten by multiple deer ticks and did have the bullseye. We didn't get sick though so were fortunate. We won't be going there this years because of dh's upcoming surgery.Poison ivy is another of the drawbacks to being in a fairly rural area.
CJ, I understand the feeling of not liking something we've made. I hope you will find some good QAL's and/or patterns to make that also make you happy.
I'm going to finish this one thing I'm crocheting for my baby granddaughter then I'll restart dh's blanket.I don't know when dh intends to go out to the bank but maybe I won't even get this crochet item made in time. It's fine though because I have plans to make more things to send so I'll send it later if that's the case.

Ruth you sure are busy keeping items coming for the grandchildren! Were you able to finish that one last item of the little one? Think it’s a great idea to get Dh’s afghan done before summer heat kicks in when working on a large piece like that will be uncomfortable. Does Dh have a date for his procedure?
CJ, sorry that the table is bouncy- and I hope that you can either easily adjust to the bounce or it’s not a lot of work to switch tables. Think I do not blame you for stopping work on the Pat Sloan quilt, if the blocks are not making you happy. You can always go back to the QAL later in the year or even substitutive a favorite block. Unless it’s a gift or a donation quilt, I think your quilt tops should make you happy.
Quilt sandwich is done and I hope to have that quilt all done in 2 weeks. Then It is time to move onto the temperature quilt, plus a few other projects I have started and not finished.

CJ, I know you are out there posting at the same time as me, it just seems to be working out that way.
Lets see, I did work this am and then got stuck going for a random drug and alcohol testing.. unfortunately my license number was pulled on a day when I was not at work so I had to drive to the testing facility. (Not very close by) they typically come on site. Got that done and went into Hobby lobby and Joanns…my DL trip was successful, JOanns somewhat less so. I bought the same color thread to use on the baby quilt, and when I got it home it is not the same color even though all the color numbers are the same. Just a little frustrating, and I am unsure how I will proceed. This color I bought today is just darker. I am wondering if I will just order some from walmart or amazon…and get busy tomorrow sewing. Perhaps this evening I will play with the colors I have and see what I can do. I do not use the higher priced quilt shop threads….just use coats and Clark’s.
Ruth and CJ- hope you both had great days and got some crafting time in.

I checked here twice today so that accounts for 3 of the views.Me looking in and being here now. Ginny, It's getting so that you can't rely on dye lots or color numbers anymore. Yarn is the same as your thread...maybe made in a different place now or even by a whole different company. Colors don't match. I hope you will find a suitable solution. Well it's unbelievable to me but the neuro surgeon's office did it again. I found out just before noon today that a message was left Yesterday asking dh to come in a little later for his appointment today. We, again, didn't know he had an appointment and by the time I saw yesterday's message today it was too late. How can a doctor's office not notify their patients when they've scheduled an appointment. So I called but had to go through the usual rigamorole about being transferred to the doctor's nurse who makes the appointments and had to leave a message. Well,as I said, that was at noon and I haven't heard a thing yet. Dh suggested that I call and tell them to email us since we don't walk around with our phone in our pocket and even if I did I wouldn't hear it ringing. So I called them again and the office person said they aren't allowed to email. So I asked to be transferred to the nurse again and suggested email to her in the message I had to leave. Today I actually found the keyrings I'd searched for earlier in the week so now I may make crochet keychain things over the weekend. We won't be going out until next week anyway unless this doctor's nurse calls and tells my dh to come in tomorrow which I hope doesn't happen. I need advance notice of things like that.I have to prepare myself Today is my grandson's bday..the dgs that was in Taiwan. It's also the birthday of my oldest brother and a good friend back in NY both of whom are deceased now.Day after tomorrow is one of the dgd's birthday and Valentines Day is another brother's bday. I'm sure there are other's too but I really can't think of any offhand. Seems like some months have a lot of bdays and there are still months without any.
