Bye January.
Karen, thanks for the start. The weak eyes are something I’m going to have to live with. No sunshine yet. We may get some on Saturday. The Lebanese bean dish has onion, garlic and a very light tomato sauce. Iggy doesn’t add any spice to it that some do, just salt and pepper. It’s good to hear that the knee shots are working for Liz. She should have something go right. Arya doesn’t want to get bored with taking the same walk with both of you.
Linda, that’s pie looks great. Minni on a rampage. I’ve known two mini Schnauzers and they both had a bark but I never knew either one that bit.
Teddy went for a painter with a ladder outside once. Went right for his ankle and grabbed his pants leg. I nabbed him before he could bite or the painter could shake him off. That was the first and only time he ever did anything but bark at someone.
We had freezing rain, sleet and snow flurries yesterday but no precipitation today. It’s 40 degrees but should be warming up tomorrow.
Iggy had a cardiogram yesterday. Routine. Yearly check. We are waiting results of doctor’s analysis, but online results look good.
We went to the new Turkish restaurant today and had a falafel wrap. It was very bland and wrapped in a tortilla not a pita. We won’t be going back. We’ll make our own falafel sandwiches. And they are way too expensive for what you get.

Linda, when did you find time to make the savory pie for dinner, given how busy you were yesterday? It's large enough that at least you should have some leftovers. If you bought the cookbook in London, did you have to convert all the ingredients from metric measurements? How are you feeling after your busy day? I know that was a scary thing when Minni ran out after the delivery person. I'm glad she didn't get into protector mode and hope she won't get a black mark on the delivery site.
Did you hear about the NCAA investigation into NIL deals at UT, Kathy? And then today the AGs in Tennessee and Virginia filed suit against the NCAA about the investigation. I wondered how long it would take for the NIL situation to come to a head and this could be the time. LOL on all the Taylor Swift cuts during NFL games. What will the Swifties do when they can't tune in every Sunday to see their girl? I think they may miss football more than the diehard football fans when the Super Bowl is over. I heard the Biden campaign is trying to leverage support from Taylor. That should garner him additional votes in November.
Chele, sorry the Turkish restaurant was such a disappointment. Using a tortilla in place of a pita doesn't make me think they'll be in business for very long. I hope the online ECG results are the same he'll get from the doctor and everyone will be good to go for another year. Sorry the eyes are still a problem and it's just a matter of getting used to it. I hate that. Yikes on Teddy going for the painter! We're fortunate that none of ours has ever shown any aggression toward a human. You had a little bit of everything weather-wise yesterday. No precip today is a good thing, but I wish you would see a little sunshine. We have a bit peeking through the clouds for a moment, but it didn't last. I should have a sunny drive home tomorrow however.
Dale is on his way back from a trail run and trip to Aldi. While he's been gone I baked a couple of butternut squashes for Arya and some tofu for me and I fixed mushrooms and seitan. My lunch is made for tomorrow. After Osteo I am taking the Subie in for an oil change and tire rotation, then on to TJ's before coming home. I doubt I'll have time to stop at the gym, but if the dealership gets me in and out quickly I may get lucky.

Chele, sorry about the eyes.always something now, isn't it? I a. A,ways grateful if I don't have walk on whatever problem.
Tha restaurant did not use a pita! Wow!
Minni only barks at people that come to the door.but wow, what a bark. We had one schnauzer who sounded huge.people would be eight feet from the door looking waist high and then look down. She gets up when she hears a delivery truck. On a walk or inside, she stays at three feet away until she decides they are ok and then is cautious.
I think I may start working on sit, quiet when she gets excited about people approaching.sure do not want to encourage it.
being British, the weights were in Oz. And lb. And liquids in cups or pints. but lengths were in centimeters. So 24 cc pan is nine inch pie pan. Heat was in C or gas. So 189C or gas 4 is 355 degrees to us . I have a converter chart taped inside a cabinet drawer.
What I had not expected was need to boil small potatoes first, cool and slice and partway bake the bottom crust. Real fun crimping that to unbaked top! Lots and lots of chopping and sautéing too. It took forever when I was expecting to toss it all into the pie tin…oops.
Got the Hebridean Baker cookbook with legends, language, personal stories geography, holidays, etc. mixed in. Fun book.the part of me that is Scot likes it. It is mostly baking things with fun names. They sure do like oats and whiskey. Have you seen the Shetland mystery series? That is where it is…islands way way up northern Scotland with Norwegian background. Considering I bought a sweater and kilt in Edinburgh and wore it in late June there, those Islands are soooo cold and windy.
Sat outside a while in spite of hammering and tile saws and Mexican hip hop so Minni could lie in the sun and roll around on the grass kicking her feet up.
Now going to look at Lydia's latest cookbook from the library

Chele, you and me both on the eye problems. I wish there was more they could do. Glad it looks like good news on Iggy's ECG results and hope the doctor concurs. I always associate tortillas with Mexican food, so wouldn't have expected it with Turkish either. Hope you get some sun soon. We got some today, but the wind was really blowing, so not a great day to get out in it.
Karen, I hadn't heard the NIL news on UT, but heard that UF is also under investigation for its NIL deals. I think you're right on it coming to a head. FSU just had to be first. Taylor was speaking out for people to register to vote in the last election, so I'm sure she'll be doing that again. I saw where for all the outcry over showing her during the games, she's usually only on camera for about 25 seconds during a 3 to 4 hour game. It was a busy day on the pond today. The great egret in my avatar was minding his own business when the snowy egret came up next to him. A hooded merganser pair was out there too. I hope they stay around.
Linda, it is scary when a dog you don't know is barking and rushing towards you. Hopefully, she didn't get a black mark from the delivery service. That pie looks delicious, but a lot of work!
