Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Another week starts! Hope you all slept well, Ruth and CJ and even those who check in but do not say hello.
I slept pretty well, another hour would have been nice, but that was not meant to be for today. I know as far as my quilting goes, I will change needles, and rethread the machine. Got partway in the quilting yesterday and the thread kept breaking, I did adjust the tension to get the stitching correct. Oh well
See ya later

Hello - Hope you are both having a nice day and good weather. It's sunny and in the low 50s here Ruth - Hope you finished all your family projects so you can get them mailed. Did you hear back from DH's doctor yet? Ginny - Sorry to hear about the thread problem, hopefully the tension adjustment has solved it and you can do some more quilting soon. The junk pickup company I'm using comes into the house to get the things you want to get rid of, so I don't have to worry about getting it outside - a big relief. I'm hoping that will go well, but I'm anticipating that I'll need more than one pickup. I'll see how the first pickup goes. I haven't heard back from the house buying company, it's really crazy how these companies don't follow up. I guess they just don't care or maybe they aren't hurting for business. I may try to get some fabric cut for the Moda Blockheads block today. I think I'll try to keep up with this quilt along if I can. Take care and have a good day

Good evening Ginny and CJ and all those that view.
Ginny, I'm glad that you have a good sleep even though not as many hours as you would have liked.
CJ, companies are complaining that they can't get things done because of lack of employees while other people complain that they can't find a job. And apparently some companies don't care about customer service. I'm glad you don't have to take the things you want to get rid of outside. It sounds like you have a lot so that would be a huge job for you. I hope you like the block of the month you're participating in that you're not sure about. Red, white and blue projects are almost always very nice. Oh and yes, I heard from the doctor's office by email and the appointment is all set for the end of April.
I've finished all my originally planned project to send to Indiana but I keep running across others that I want to make. We'll probably get out to mail it this week sometime and I don't now that they'll get it by Valentine's day which is fine though.
The weather people were correct about our Saturday weather. After a week of such nice warm days it did rain then snow as predicted and was cold.Today we've been back to a much more tolerable temperature..high 40's

Hello - Hope you are both having a good day It's sunny and in the 40s here. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get the appointment set up. Hope you can get those things in the mail this week. I went to the house today for the junk pickup and that all went well. There are still some things in the house (not much though) and I'm just waiting for some family members to decide if they want them. I hope they'll get that done soon since I want the house sold by sometime in March. I heard back from one house buying company and set up an appointment with another one, so I'll see how that goes. I had hoped to make the Moda Blockheads block today, but I'm tired from doing things at the house. I may try to get to it later, if I get some energy Take care

Hello ;my friends. I hope you're both having a good day
CJ,I'm glad you were able to get the junk people over and it sounds like a second trip won't be necessary.I hope your family will get over there to pick what they want. And most of all, I hope you do get the house sold by mid March so that you can have all that off your mind.
Ginny, it looks like today was a busy day for you. I hope all went well.
I got the box packed and just have to seal and label it but I want to wait to see if dh wants to put anything else in there. I realized I had one more thing to make but it was small so I got that done earlier today. We did get one of our pre surgery projects done so we're happy about that. Now we just need to replace one of our toilets but dh can't lift it so we'll see if dgs can come over and help and even go to the store with us in order to get it into our truck altho If he can't do that part I'll be a helpless little old lady and ask someone there to put it in the truck for me.With all the minerals we have in our water here toilets and water heaters don't last long.
I'm ready now to start dh's blanket but I want to make a chart to plan where to put each of the different colors. I may be able to start on it tonight.
I'll be back later to check to see if Ginny stops in

Ruth- congrats on getting everything finished for the box to ship! And I am so glad you were able to get Dh’s appointment taken care of. Yes- DGS should help get the toilet moved into your house… I bought a toilet at Lowe’s 3 years ago and the store was happy to help get the new one into my car to bring home
CJ- that is great that they hauled your junk out. Hopefully the remaining items will be wanted by family and easy to find a new home for. Good luck with the house buying company. Hope they get back to you quickly and you can have the house sold in a good time.
Busy day babysitting. I got stuck on the phone with a former neighbor, so I have had little time to myself this evening

Stopped in to see Jane today…and if all else fails I might have to switch threads. She had a good thread to suggest, so we shall see. I think for now I need to play around with a new needle and rethreading the machine to see what works.

CJ must be working on some of the things she still has to do involving her move or else she had to replenish supplies of food or fabric
Ginny, I hope that changing the needle or rethreading will do the trick.
I did do some crocheting today. I was trying to decide on what stitch to use for dh's blanket. I tried the v stitch he suggested but I decided that it leaves spaces that are too large so now I'm trying the stitch that uses sc, dc alternated and in next row sc into doubles and double into singles. I think it's the griddle stitch but I always get confused between it and the crumpled griddle. So far it's looking ok now that I've also switched to a larger hook.
I hope you both had a good day and will have a good evening.

Ok, so forgive my ignorance, I do not know what the griddle stitch is, nor the crumpled griddle stitch….ha ha ha. Ruth, I am glad that you are now happy with how it looks and are going to work on finishing the afghan for Dh. I forget, what color are you making it for him?
I did not get near my machine yesterday but did spend a bunch of time researching thread and needles. Hope to try what I learned online a bit later.
CJ, hope you are doing well, I can imagine this is a busy week for you.
Hope you both slept well.

Hello - Hope you are both having a nice day and good weather. It's still cool here but sunny, it's supposed to get milder the next few days. Ruth - I'm glad you found a stitch you like to use for your DH's blanket Ginny - Hope you can decide on a new needle and thread and that they work for your quilting I was just feeling stressed yesterday and didn't feel like posting. It's really tough trying to figure out whether to go with a company's offer on my house. I am going forward with one so that I can get them to the house to do the inspection. I'm hoping they don't find anything that will cause them to drop their offering price. If they do, I can back out but I might try to negotiate with them since I know they are low with the offer anyway. If I didn't mind having a house sitting vacant I could just take my time with getting lots of offers, but it's a problem to have the house like that and pretty soon it will be time for lawn mowing again and I didn't want to have to find someone to do that. I woke up a little after 3:00 A.M. this morning and never could go back to sleep. Around 6:30 I got up and made last week's Moda blockheads block and started on the one from yesterday. I hope to finish that today. Then I went up to my house and put out the final trash bags for pickup and brought the few final things left there back - some for donation and some for a family member. I think what's left now could be cleared out by the company buying the house. It's just been a lot to deal with on my own. So I'm tired today Take care

CJ, first off if I share stories from my mom’s house, its not cause I am trying to take anything away from what you are going through, I just want you to know that I know, sort of , what a headache this is for you . Waking up at 3 am is no surprise to me, as I had similar things happen to me. I ended up listening to instrumental hymns on Spotify….and falling asleep to them. It was the only thing that kept me sane. I had non stop headaches and all kinds of stress reactions. its very possible that if you waited to put the house on the market that you might get nickel and dimed to death by prospective buyers and then you would still have the hassle of bargaining with them. That is not fun….perhaps you could, maybe obtain a current market analysis from a realtor, just for comparison. And see what the realtor says might be an actual value for your home. I heard that home values provided by Zillow are high at least for the market I live in. What you are going through is a hassle- basically a nightmare. (My sister was useless during it all, and my husband while he helped tremendously in fixing up the house for sale was argumentive and extremely annoying during the actual sale so I was, as you are , on my own) I am glad that the final trash bags are out and that the house is emptied of everything. That is quite an accomplishment in 2 months. Its also wise to remember that every day you still own the house, you are paying taxes and utilities and maintenance fees (snow removal, landscaping). Honestly it was that kind of thinking that had me want to get rid of the house as soon as I could. Glad you got to work on a blockhead block….hope it turned out well and that you are pleased with it.
Ruth, how is Dh’s afghan coming out? You too have some household adjusting to do, to get ready for Dh’s procedure. Did you get the package mailed?
Looks like with a new needle that I have solved my thread problem, at least for the test block. I ended up making dinner for my neighbor and driving her to the bank. Her husband is in the hospital after major surgery and she does not drive. So today was a busy day, but I did not get much down time at home.

CJ, I can fully understand why you would be stressed and unable to sleep well. My dh andI have been very fortunate in selling the two house we've owned and sold. For the first house we had a friend of my brother who was an attorney handling everything although there was a realtor involved too but the attorney did almost everything including the things NYS requires them to do in a real estate buying or selling and he also did what the realtor usually does. The second house was just sold by people coming up and asking us if we wanted to sell. That state didn't require you to have an attorney and everything was taken care of by the buyer asking how much we wanted, we told him and he agreed and had the bank he was getting the mortgage through take care of all the details and he also volunteered to pay all closing costs.I hope you get a decent price for your house without a lot of stressful negotiations. Ginny, as usual, it sounds like you had a busy day. I'm glad that a new needle solved the quilting problem. Also it was so nice of you to provide dinner for your neighbor and give her rides to where she needs go go. Today kind of got away from me. It took me awhile in the kitchen cleaning up and then I spent some time looking at crochet groups and youtube. I need to quit doing that because I don't need any new patterns I hope you both are sleeping well since it's after midnight where you are.

Ruth- glad you checked in- always good to hear from you! Yes sometimes a day surely can get away from us. Hope that today was productive for you! Gee you were very fortunate selling your homes in the past. It’s just not that easy in many areas.
CJ , how did your day go? Were you able to accomplish what you wanted to today in taking care of the estimate for your house?
I worked today and got a phone call from my neighbor . He sounds drained but his doctor says he is doing well. His procedure was supposed to take 4 hours and took almost double that. So I was on the phone a lot - trying to help him and his family.
My thread issues are not resolved either. Will try again tomorrow and see if I can figure out what the problem is.

Hello Ruth - None of us need any new patterns, that's no reason to quit looking at crochet groups and YouTube Ginny - Sorry to hear you are still having thread issues, hope you can figure it out Thanks to both of you for your support now and in the past. The experiences you share about selling houses and the good and bad, are very helpful to me and make me realize I'm not alone in this process. Yesterday was good and bad. I liked this second company and they gave me a good price estimate, but I'm afraid I might have locked myself into the first company. I shouldn't have signed anything, that was rookie error The are still some issues with this company and I told them I'm not moving forward until those are resolved. They also have to do an inspection next week and if they find problems that would cause them to lower the price offered then I can back out, which I might do. I was very upset about it last night and this morning, but I'm calming down some now and I just have to go through the process and see what happens. So I haven't done any quilting, but I did get to go to a local quilt shop that was having a SuperBowl sale today and I bought some fabric. I found a pretty Christmas print that I might use as my focus fabric for the Christmas quilt along Pat Sloan is having: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/christmas-all-year-blocks-a-month.htmlI also just treated myself to a few fabrics, I needed that. Take care
