woke at one with BR issues and cold even with blanket on 9! Had some Ovaltine but the best Zi could do was that semi sleep until around 7:30 Managed some decent sleep until ten. Rain all night and until around ten. Gone for a week I hope, but cold. 38 this morning. More yard dying off.
meeting two friends about 25 minutes away to carpool to Scottsdale for Thai lunch near the Poisoned Pen bookstore and late afternoon party there for release of Laurie King's latest book in her series about a young woman who becomes Sherlock Holmes's apprentice and partner eventually . He was retired in the country in farmland keeping bees. She lived nearby. So the first book was called BeeKeeper's Apprentice. Hope the day goes ok.

Linda, sorry about the BR problems. At least you got a little more sleep. Did you get more rain? At least it wasn't snow. Have you ever had snow since you moved there? With as cool as your temperatures were this morning, that would have meant snow for us. Sounds like a fun afternoon. Enjoy! Is the Flonase regimen working for you? The clogged ear is no fun, but the balance issue can be downright dangerous.
I hope you have more sun today, Chele. We definitely do not. It was dry this morning but the rain started about noon and hasn't let up. Did you and Iggy go anywhere fun this morning? How do you use the labne?
Kathy, that's funny about your aunt at the gym. There are probably more of us older folks than younger ones at the time I go, so nobody would dare mention anything age-related. If you have hash browns for breakfast, that would also be a vegetable. Enjoy the 60s for as long as you have them. Too bad the mergansers didn't stick around, but you'll see them again. Good luck to the Chiefs. If it was anyone except the 49ers (or the Steelers or the Panthers) playing, I would root for the Chiefs too.
Busy morning cooking dinner items to assemble and freeze for Arya's dinners. Lots of work but we got over 2 months of meals in the freezer. We ran short on veggies and had to scrounge around in the freezer to find a few things to add in. Every time we do this I wonder if it might be just about the same price to order prepared meals from The Farmer's Dog. Would be a lot less time consuming. "Arya's freezer" needed defrosted so Dale did that while I cooked (since it was practically empty anyway), so that also got done. She was also out of the veggie broth I put on her oats for breakfast (because she doesn't drink enough water). So as soon as the 8 qt IP was empty, broth ingredients when in. That won't be finished until about dinner time. I'm a bit tired and still have to do my PT exercises.

Karen, hash browns were actually what I was thinking of when I said I occasionally had veggies with breakfast! We have to get through the 80s tomorrow before I can enjoy the 60s. It was in the 70s today and partly sunny, so a pretty nice day. I saw an egret today similar to the one in my avatar, but without the winter plumage. He was next to a large bird that I haven't identified yet. It was similar in size to the bigger egrets, but heavier and with a larger head. It was a dark gray color and it went swimming after standing for a few minutes. I'll have to see if I can find a match for it. I took a couple of pictures, but it was way too bright to get anything good. That is a lot of work for Arya's meals. Maybe you could try some from The Farmer's Dog and see how she likes it. It's amazing how far they've come with more nutritious food for pets.
Linda, hope you have a better night's sleep tonight. That's pretty cold for your area. Hope it warms up a bit soon.
Chele, hope you're having a good day.

That truly is a lot of work for dog food. Might she have 1/2 yours and other 1/2 something you buy.?
Our storms are gone, last rain finished at 11 am. It is now over the panhandle in snow and sleet! 38 this morning. The jet stream is below our state in Mexico!
It is not stopping the mobs ..100,000a day from going to the big Scottsdale golf tournament. The freeway going north from here was masses of cars across six lanes, moving slowly but steadily!
Lunch in Scottsdale with two old friends was good and we browsed the bookstore . then they had Prosecco and cheese and crackers celebrating the 30th year of king's series with book 18. Then there was an interview with author. Good time.i have a signed book.

Linda, I am glad you had a good time at lunch and at the bookstore. I bet getting out and socializing felt really good. How are the ears doing? I bet Minni looks cute with her new furcut.
Kathy, I would never dare describe a non-relative as old or ancient. I donāt blame your aunt for getting upset. How dare a stranger refer to her as āone of the oldestā to other strangers! Itās one thing describing yourself as old itās another when someone else does it, at least in my little world. š¤Ŗ It took me three years to identify a cormorant in a fuzzy picture I took of it in the backyard. Good luck on your search.
Karen, it was raining yesterday, so we didnāt go out. We use the labne as a spread on bread and crackers and I like to use it on raw veggies. Iāve always admired your dedication to cooking Aryaās meals. I know I could not do it. If Iggy werenāt around Iām not sure if I would cook as much. I think I would try Farmerās Dog.
Itās only 32Ā°. The sun was out a little while ago but it has clouded over. Iggy is going to bake himself some chicken wings and I have leftover salad fixings. I may indulge in some blue cheese on the salad today.

Chele, I zoomed in on the pic of the mystery bird and it's actually a mottled brown color. I think it's a Florida limpkin which is a first for me. I agree on the difference between describing yourself as old and having someone else do it. I went out to lunch with my BFFs and DS one time and a young waiter asked us if we were in the red hat club. We were in our 40s at the time, but I guess anyone over 30 looked old to him! He was definitely not well trained in the art of being a good waiter. Enjoy the blue cheese.
Hope everyone has a great day. Enjoy the Super Bowl if you're watching!

PLeased with myself yesterday because I managed to walk from parking couple blocks to restaurant and back plus 2.5 more blocks to the bookstore, stand around looking at books with friends ,then sit on folding chair for hour and a half and get up still functioning without pain, just stiff so I walk like Charley Chaplin. I guess the shots finally worked. It was getting harder an hour later when I got home and walked Minni. Actually slept well. Wow.
Today I got to Walgreens soon as pharm opened for the new nasal spray I can try tomorrow ā¦half the Flonase semi mist (blue cap) and single squirt of this antihistamine. Then plant place, the Target (there is a hike) to the back far corner for their small potting soil bags I can lift. They do not have added moisture beads or fertilizer Minni would eat. Too bad I could get three time the amount in one heavy nursery bag for the price of one of those.
Lady in front of me had a lot of food having just decided to have a Super Bowl party!
Minni helped me plant it all and rescue a couple things that needing moving. That is to say she stood in the hole being dug, ran off with the containers to beat them up, dragged her sworn enemy hose all the way across the lawn Yapping as she went, stole my glove, and played soccer with fallen pomegranetes.
Two flats of geraniums, lobelia, pansies, snapdragons, gerberia daisy got planted. It will be a while before it gets bigger, but the border on the est side of the lawn, the back block wall behind the kitchen and the pots look colorful.
i am going to have stiff knees , but felt ok sitting on my stool in the sun.

Linda, I'm happy you had such a good time with your friends and have a signed copy of the author's book as a memory. YIKES on the traffic! At least things were moving, albeit slowly. It's just as easy to make a larger quantity of Arya's dinners as it is to make a smaller quantity. So it's kind of an all or nothing thing. At least there are options if I get to the point where I can't do the cooking.
I've never heard of a Limpkin, Kathy. According to Cornell, it's supposed to be a wetland bird. Is your area considered wetlands? They are supposed to have a very distinctive call. Did you hear it vocalize? I wonder if juveniles are a lighter color and maybe that's why it looked different. I wonder how long your waiter remained a waiter, given his lack of tact and I assume lack of skills as well. I remember being in my teens and thinking how ancient my grandparents were in their 50s. Now I think of 50 year olds as youngstersš .
Chele, I don't blame you for staying in yesterday. We did the same thing. The rain temporarily stopped this morning but will be back this evening. We aren't as chilly as you are, fortunately. There are several vegan meal delivery options that have sounded really good if I decide to quit cooking in the future. If I did, Arya would be eating from the Farmer's Dog. I've thought about cutting back to two meals a day but dinner is our family meal time.
I did a workout and a load of laundry today, and have a vegan quiche in the oven. This is the third cloudy, rainy day in a row with one more to come. Looking forward to the sunshine, but temps will be cooler. But it's February.
