CJ, yes it must be almost a shock to see the house you've lived in so long sitting there almost empty.I hope you can find your new permanent home if your current one is not going to be permanent. We had snow here too. Nothing like Ginny's 12 inches though
We had plans to go to the store on the other side of town where they have great price super lean ground beef on fridays. They also hadsome other great buys but unfortunately the snow ept us at home so hopefully those sales will be repeated and we'll go next Friday.
Meanwhile I hope to have the baby afghan completed by Monday and will then go back to dh's afghan.
Ginny, I hope you are feeling ok after having the stomach problems and getting so cold while working.

CJ- bet it was a relief to you that the house was all closed up and seemed to be ok. I totally understand how strange it feels to leave a house that you lived in all your lifeâŚand now it it really does not resemble the place of your memories because it is almost completely empty. Guess for me and my momâs house (mind you my dad has been gone 40 years) that Dh and I cleaned, scrubbed, painted the whole place (ripped up some disgusting carpet too) so that by the time it was ready for sale, it did not look like the same place, the house I grew up in and lived in for 22 years. I hope that in seeing some of the furniture and other items that you brought with you, you realize that you are bringing those memories with you, memories that no matter where you live you can keep with you. The house I grew up on was always on a busy road, sort of, but in the last 20 years that busy road has become even busier. Surely not a place I would want to live in. That is good that the process of transferring the house seems to be moving along nicely, Hopefully early next week the inspection report will be in and more progress can be made. Yes, it will be bitter sweet when the sale is over with, but when its sold you no longer have to be concerned with leaky roofs, or did you lock it up well. I have been past my momâs house about 5 times since I sold it and that curiousity is now pretty much gone. Hope that you can get a decent price for the house leaving you sufficient to buy something that you are comfortable with in an area that you are comfortable with. So what are your favorite Girl Scout cookies?
Ruth, who sells Yarn Bee yarn? Itâs a name i am familiar with, but cannot figure out where itâs bought from. Sounds like a great idea to work in the white yarn to break up the intensity of the colors. I do hope that washing it softens it a bit. Gee that is awesome that the package you just mailed out (did you use the post office or UPS?) has already arrived!! Again, thanks for the prayers for Ds. He is home already and is calling in sick for tomorrow. From texting with my 2 DDâs, there is a stomach bug that is going around, I have it, and now he has it also. Guess tomorrow he is going to urgent care, and honestly with the intent of getting a doctors note to get a day off.I do not blame himâŚ.my stomach has been uncomfortable for several days. Anyway, any comments from Ds about the package? Is the Christmas tree skirt for DGS in that package?
After work, I amended my plans, went to Joanns to get my thread and ran into the Walmart that is close by. I only needed a few thingsâŚgot them and came home. I did attend a viewing for a man from my church, and stayed a bit longer than I wanted. But I am home now, comfortably dressed and ready for the week off. Dd will not be coming over tomorrow, so I expect to give the new thread a try. I was proud of myself, I went into Joanns, and only picked up what I had ordered and did not purchase anything else. Sometimes itâs so temptingâŚ.

aw Ruth, I was busy blabbing when you posted. That stinks that weather kept you from going out to get the ground beef that was on sale and yes I hope the sales are repeated next week.

Well we posted at the same time again I guess. Yarn Bee is a Hobby Lobby brand. They have a lot of different yarns by Yarn Bee and I don't think I've really bought many of then. I think I have two more types of their yarn although it seems that my HL yarns are hidden behind some other companies yarn so I have to dig it out. This particular one was with my baby yarns so easy to get to. I'm actually finished with the body of the baby blanket so now there's the border. I hope I've left enough. All the other Hobby Lobby yarns I have have only one or two skeins. There I Love This Yarn is a nice HL yarn. I have one one of those only.
I hope all goes well with you completing the baby's quilt.
DDIL did mention the box arriving and that the kids loved everything. I also got emails from two of the grands thanking me.
Sorry that you and your son are now both sick. It's a good thing that your dd is not visiting today or they'd probably all get this bug too.

Ruth that is wonderful that 2 of your grands emailed you to thank you for the hand made goodies you sent to them. Gee, even DDIL mentioned itâŚ.that has to warm your heart. I wondered if Yarn bee was from HL- the name seemed to ring a bell with me. Have you decided what to do with the borders of the baby afghan?
CJ- I am posting now, therefore you must be posting now. That seemed to be the way itâs been recently. Ha ha ha. Hope you had a good day and felt up to quilting.
Thanks CJ- that C&C quilting thread worked great and I got 2 bobbins quilted today. No broken thread, no broken needles. I am very pleased and should be able to complete the quilt by the end of this week. Ds went to urgent care today (to get a note for work) and itâs just a stomach bugâŚ.and mine is slowly - oh so slowly going away. Toward the end of the day I got tired again and chills, after the second bobbin, so I stopped quilting. I did attend the celebration of life ceremony today, nice service which was, thankfully, not horrifically long.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today. We ended up not getting the snow they predicted but it has been chilly here. Ruth - Sorry you missed that ground beef sale, hope they will offer it again and you can get some. I'm happy to hear that the kids loved everything you sent them and it's also nice you received some emails from them. Ginny - Hope you are feeling better and your DS too. I'm glad to hear that the thread worked for you and I hope you can get the quilt done this week. I haven't felt much like quilting for several days. I think it's because I'm just not that interested in finishing the quilt tops for those blocks I did in 2023 (for quilt alongs). Since I have the sashing and border fabric cut for one of them, I will try to finish it. The others might just have to wait. I've been wanting to try out a Snail's Trail block so I cut the fabric for that today and I'm hoping to sew it up later. I need to find another project that interests me - maybe one of the kits I have - and hopefully I can get back into quilting. Hope you both get to do some crafting too. Take care

Ginny, I hope you and your ds are improving rapidly from this stomach issue. I'm so glad the thread you bought solved the problem with your mach.ine not working correctly
CJ,I know that working on something we feel compelled to finish is not an enjoyable task. You'll love it I hope when its finally done. I'm glad you didn't get the predicted snow
I did finish the baby blanket and used up all that yarn so I'm happy about that. I just put on a simple border of 2 rows of sc and then one row of reverse single crochet. The blanket itself has a lot of texture which looks a lot like little flowers so even though I picked the stitch pattern just on impulse it really looks good. Since it has so much texture and color I thought a simple border would be best and now that it's done it looks beautiful actually. I used white for the border since there was a lot of color in the yarn itself and the white border along with the white sections I put in the body of the blanket really makes the color of the blanket look great. Now back to dh's blanket which I hope to finish this week

Good evening!! Ruth, that is wonderful that you finished the afghan, and are now back to work on the afghan for Dh. Finishing the baby afghan with a reverse SC is a nice idea, it makes a lovely finished edge. The only issue I have with it (and it looks great!!) is that I struggle with stitching the reverse SC, which always feels awkward to me. From what you have described a simple border sounds absolutely perfect. You have made decent progress on Dhâs afghan tooâŚwhich I hope you are able to finish this week.
CJ- if I remember correctly you were somewhat frustrated with some of the QALâs you made last year, which was a LOT of QALâs and I think the block heads project caused you some frustration. (And my memory could be completely off). Anyway, make what you want. And if you are not inspired to finish the quilt tops you made in 2023, so be it. Your quilting proficiency has really improved in the past year, and you seem to be taking on more and more difficult quilts. Of course that does not mean that you have to love every quilt that you made, but you did learn in the process. I say get busy working on the snails trail block, which I hope you love how it turns out!! Another great idea is to take out one of the kits you put together. Hey, did you ever finish the table toppers you were going to make??
Ds and I are hanging in there. Sometimes my stomach hurts, and sometimes it feels fine. Think he has the same experience. Overall, I am improving. I do still sometimes out of nowhere, get a headache or chills. I have tried to just stay quiet today and not do much. I did read for awhileâŚnot sure if I will get to my machine or not. Honestly as late in the day as it is, I doubt I will quilt today, Think it makes more sense for me to get busy tomorrow morning when I am fresh. Guess I should take a good look at the quilt and see how far along into the stipple I am. I kind of think I am about 30% done. Looks like Tuesday I am heading to the quilt shop with Jane, we both have coupons and I can pick up some batting. She needs to get backing fabric for her DGDâs quilt.
My machine seems to be running well. I did clean it outâŚit really was not that bad, as I clean it out when I change bobbins. Itâs been 18 months since I have had it serviced. Cindy is offering for me to let her husband clean and oil the machine..(free). I can have my serviceman work on it, but it will be gone for probably a month đ. He says on his voicemail that he is behind on his service calls. THe third option is to take it to Joanns, and there Cindy will send it to Husqvarna for a complete overhaul. That is actually less expensive than using my local service man and would take 2-3 weeks. Of course they will check the timing, plus anything else they might find. Not a decision I am making today, but something I do need to take into account. Stinks that the machine will be gone for a few weeks (If CIndyâs husband works on it I am sure it will be only a few days).
Have I blabbered enough for one day?
Monday monday is tomorrow. See you then Ginny

I think it's a great idea for you to just rest today, Ginny. YOu can think about who you want to take care of your machine. The secret to doing the reverse single crochet is when going to a new stitch stand your hook on it's head.
I haven't started working on dh's afghan yet but I did do some organizing and actually got dh to weed out some of his socks. He's got probably at least 150 pairs of socks plus 8 packs that have never been opened. And I'm not exagerating here. He did get rid of those that have holes and some that really are uncomfortable for him to wear because they're too tight.I also rearranged a very large floor to ceiling bookcase and dusted it so after that I was tired. I will do a little crocheting this evening but it's 8pm already so I'd better get started
