Football is over and No, CJ I do not watch basketball….so watch an occasional hockey or baseball game…. Believe me I was not pleased with the outcome of the game last night.
Sorry I am getting here late this morning.
Ruth, there were several very pro Christian ads in the game- which I watched most of at Craig and Jane’s house with several other people from church. It was interesting for sure to see those ads. Of course there was also a big Scientology ad also.
CJ- hope that the inspection goes well today. I had no idea that you had a mold problem downstairs, which I hope is not a problem for the company buying the house.
Ugh, the needles, seemed to work great but now I have broken two of them. I do not have time today to work on that problem, but will work on that when I am babysitting later on.
See ya later.

Ginny, I thought you might be going to Jane's house to watch the game with them and others from church. I was hoping that SF would win. I pray for your son's safety both at work and in travel when i think of him or you which is often. I know how stressful his job is because my son did a that same job in the Army and got out of that as soon as he could. I'm sure I mentioned that so forgive me for my old lady repeating myself.
Not sur4e what we'll do today. Probably nothing but one day this week we'll be going out. We keep procrastinating

Hello - Hope you have both had a good day Ginny - Looks like you are going to be getting some snow in the next few days, hope it isn't too bad and you and your DS have safe travels. Ruth - Hope you get to go out one day this week. It was an early and long day for me today. The home inspection was today and it was long - close to 5 hours. They really do a lot of things other than inspecting and basically make a floor plan of the house and what needs to be updated. I'll have to wait a week or so to hear the results and see if they lower their price or not. I'm hoping to get back to some quilting over the next few days. And I hope the rest of the week is quiet, I feel like I need a vacation Take care

CJ with the over 2 month stressful moving I think you do need a vacation. I hope the results of the inspection are such that they will uphold the price that you've been given by that company. It would be great if they gave you even more but that's not likely because companies are interested in what makes them a profit.I hope that you can relax and work on your quilting.
I hope Ginny has power. It looks like the storm is going to be visiting her area. Was everything closed due to snow there,Ginny? I'm praying even more for your son since I'm pretty sure they are going to need him at work. Not everyone is as consciencous as he is.
We did go out today and got the banking done and package mailed. We then went to our local Kroger store and wow, can't believe the prices. Eggs are not as expensive as they were early last year but getting up there
I did work on crocheting last evening and started a baby blanket to work on in between times of working on dh's blanket.
Have a good evening

Gee, i must be getting here late as Ruth is wishing us a good night!!!
CJ- you have surely been put through the wringer in moving and now trying to sell the house. Are you able to get an estimate from the second company? I hope so, as that does provide some leverage for you regarding what they are willing to offer you. I do hope that it is a fair offer…. I bet there is some software online that would be useable for you to take an estimate like Zillow and knowing what the real estate company comes up with as a final value, permit you to subtract that from t he zillow estimate to see if the values are close. 5 hours is a long time to inspect the house and come up with a floor plan..but it does have to be thorough. Bet you are tired….and tired of this ordeal. I agree, you need a vacation!! Perhaps your DSIL will be willing to drive to an amish market with you…it’s almost time for the markets to open for the spring and the mud sales.
Ruth, glad you got the package mailed and some errands run. Who is the baby blanket for, or are you just making a baby blanket to donate? Thank you so very much for praying for my son. He has been home today (his regular day off, I am SO thankful he did not have to fight the storm today). Midnights are rough on him….and I worry. Think he has a temporary bid on a day shift job in a week or so, but that is only temporary. He will end up back on midnights eventually until a day shift opens that he has the seniority to get.
Yes I did go to Janes to watch the Super Bowl….sorry CJ, this is NOT a sports conversation. Fun night out with good people. But getting home late meant I was tired Monday. Monday, Dd kept DGD#2 home, as they were at a Super Bowl party and out late. So I had one extra child to watch, but she is easy to be with and a lot of fun. She also had a project which required neat stuff to decorate a picture frame with, so I gave her a bunch of buttons for that( as someone who sews, I have plenty of those!) the picture frame turned out adorable. Yesterday was a long day….I had rehearsal after babysitting and found out during rehearsal that my home town closed schools for today. DD did not find out until 10:45 pm that her school closed, so I was long asleep by then. I had to wake up at 4:45 to learn that I was able to stay home today. We got about a foot of snow…and Ds did most of the work clearing it.
Onto my quilting disasters. I picked up from Cindy (the woman who works at the Viking sewing gallery at Joanns and sold me the machine) special quilting needles for the final top stitch. I picked them up on Sunday from her. The new needles kept breaking….oh this has been a disaster. Today I cleaned out the machine, wound a new bobbin, changed needles again, adjusted the tension ( again) and changed the open toe foot (I have two). Most recently I noticed that the thread uptake lever has an accumulation of broken fibers from the 40 wt rayon thread. I do not give up yet, but just emailed sulky to see what they suggest. Unless they come up with a really good suggestion, I will go back to using a lower weight thread, which I hope will not break or give me this kind of trouble. I have had this machine 3 years….and it has been quite a workhorse, so I figure it’s the thread. Grrrrr……..

I figure that today, when I am driving my neighbor to complete the paperwork for her future employment, I will stop in Walmart and pick up another spool of coats and Clark’s white thread. Not sure that anything Sulky says to me will change my mind, I am just tired of dealing with a problem when I feel confident that other thread will fix the problem (just not be as pretty).
Hope you both slept well!!!

Hello Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get out yesterday. I can't believe how much money I spend on groceries each month. I'm really trying harder to spend less this year. I'm glad you found time to spend on your crochet too. Ginny - I hope the new thread will work for you. I don't do free motion quilting, but all the straight line quilting I've done is with regular Coats and Clark Machine Piecing and Quilting Thread. Of course, I don't have an expensive machine, but it always works well for me. I hope your DS can get a day shift job all the time eventually, I'm glad he was off during the snow and I'm glad you were able to clear out of it. For the home sale I'm just sticking with the first company I started with. It appears that there won't be a price change after the inspection, at least based on all the emails and documents they are sending me to fill out this week. Hopefully everything was alright with the inspection and I can move forward with selling the house in the next month. I'd love to go to the Amish Market but where I'm living now is twice as far from it as I was before. It's just as well, the main things I buy there are high calorie items I don't need Maybe I'll decide to take a drive there in the Spring. I started getting the fabrics ready to put together the quilt top for one of the sets of Moda Blockheads blocks I did last year, but then had to stop to do "house" stuff. Hopefully I can get back to it in a few days. Hope you are both having a Happy Valentine's Day

Good evening…. CJ- prices sure are going up…and it astounds me at how very much. it’s a struggle when you use the same items and you like those particular brands, or variety of a certain item. Somehow, I do not think that any of us are out spending tons of cash on high end groceries…but it’s nice to be able to pick up an occasional treat. High prices in the grocery store share are not helping that. I am glad you are sticking with the original company, because I have to assume that they are further along in the process and will be able to close more quickly. Its a process that feels never ending, and I know I used to feel as though the axe was always ready to fall with another problem in my mothers house that was going to cost me more money. I figure that from the initial inspection of the house they knew what they were in for….and the possible issues that could be easily seen during a quick walk through. Regarding the Amish market, I am sorry it’s a longer drive for you, but was just thinking it might be a nice day away- a mini vacation. Not sure if you are a reader or not, but I used to get a magazine that I loved so much…when it came I felt like it was an instant vacation for me. Wondering if a nice movie or something good to read would do the same for you. Thanks for the suggestion of the coats and Clark’s thread. Joanns still has 50% off all their threads (online orders only)and Friday I am going near Joanns and could pick up the thread I ordered. I admit to being battle weary over this thread issue and going to a cotton thread (which the C&C is) instead of the rayon sulky thread might just work. Hope you can get back to quilting tomorrow….and putting the fabrics out fo make the blockhead quilt top.
Ruth, how did your day go? Did you get very far working on the baby afghan?
Ds leaves for work in about an hour….His temporary day shift job is at the end of this month sounds like in another week.

I don't know what happened to the Message I posted last night.
Ginny I do hope that the thread you buy solves the problem. It's so frustrating when machines don't work as they should. That's why I don't sew much because I had trouble with every machine I owned until the present one and probably haven't had a problem with it because I haven't used it much. I can't even remember how many years I've had it but I'm sure it's at least 10.I bet your dgd #2 was happy to be with you instead of school. She probably likes school but loves being with you more.
CJ, I'm glad you have a plan in mind that will finish up all the moving and selling issues. And it's a great idea to finish up that Moda blockhead quilt you started and had to set aside.
Today I've been crocheting the baby blanket instead of dh's blanket. The baby blanket is one of those they claim is mindless and it is until you find that you messed up on a previous row.

Ruth, so sorry that you had to fix a mistake on a previous row of the baby afghan. How frustrating, but at least you discovered it fairly early. I have never found any of those mindless patterns to be truly mindless- well maybe granny squares are because a problem with a stitch count is obvious very quickly. Did you get much done on the afghan after you found your mistake? Sorry about your response getting lost…think we have all had that happen. Ruth, probably a good idea to take that machine out. Most problems are threading issues or a mess in the bobbin area.
CJ- are you making any progress on the moda blockhead quilt?
Well, last night I was feeling a bit off, some stomach discomfort. It’s back….I worked this am and the one driver I was working with refused to put the heat on, because she does not like the sound of the heater fan. So here I sit, all bundled up in multiple layers because I am still freezing. It was 18 degrees this morning, which I think qualifies as cold.
Gonna go throw another blanket on….and hope that I feel better

Ginny,it's warm here compared to where you are. I can't believe that woman is allowed to refuse to put the heater on. Don't the kids on the bus complain or their parents complain. Sorry you're having GI issues and now are so very cold.I hope your son is now safely home for awhile. I am continuing to keep him in in prayer. Speaking of prayer I saw an awesome video on Youtube where the designer of the pattern was making a blanket she called On a Hill Far Away. It has three crosses in the middle (it's done from middle out) and all the stitches she uses in the rest of the afghan are symbolic of various other things related to the crucificion and ressurrection of our Saviour. She also tells in the video about what this all means to us.I'd love to make it but it will probably take me all the years I have left in my life.I might make the middle and the first few rows afterwarn.I saw that we were posting at the same time last evening
CJ, I hope you're doing well today and are able to relax and do anything that you would like to do.
We did get surprise snow but not much. High today was supposed to be 47 but if that happened it must have been very early in the day. I have only 3 more skeins of the yarn I'm using for the baby blanket after I finish the one I'm using now and I want to save one of those for a border so it's not going to take me long to get it completed. The skeins don't have a lot of yardage.

CJ - how is your day going?
Ruth - yes your temps are warmer than mine my day time highs are in the mid 30s. That afghan sounds so pretty but also pretty complicated. A friend of mine made a quilt that sounds similar to the afghan- what a dramatic design . Sorry to hear that you are using up so much of that particular yarn.
I did nap awhile and am finally warmed up. Thanks so much for the prayers for DS. He got home at 4 and will return to work on 4 hours of sleep. This working doubles is awful - I fear for his safety.
Have a good evening

Still praying, Ginny. I'm glad you finally got warmed up.
Actually I'm glad I'm using up this yarn because that's one of my goals for the year is to use up a lot of my yarn.Plus I don't know how I came to buy this yarn. It's Yarn Bee Hushabye in the colorway Baby Pink Camo and it's a very busy yarn.It has lots of pink and green in it.I would never buy this again so it must have been on a great sale.I've had it a fairly long time. It's also made with half cotton and half acrylic and the cotton feels like mercerized cotton. It's a little on the stiff side. After I did a few rows back when I started it I ripped it out and restarted with a J hook to give it a little more drape and am hoping that washing makes it softer.I also have one skein of the same yarn but in white which I was going to save for the border but I realized that I needed to put some white in the body of the blanket to break up all that color and it does look way better now that the white is added.
Oh and my son already got that box that I just mailed on Tues.
See you both tomorrow

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today and the weather isn't too bad. We're supposed to get some snow overnight here. Ginny - I hope you are feeling better today. I'm so sorry your DS has to go back to work with so little sleep, I hope he has safe travels. Ruth - I'm glad to hear you have some projects you are working on. I'm sure you are happy that your son already received his box, I hope they all enjoy what you sent them. I went up to my house yesterday just to check on things and everything was O.K. I was a bit worried I hadn't closed up everything good the last time I was there. It's really strange being in a house I lived in all my life and seeing it almost empty. I had received a bunch of emails from the house company on Tuesday and responded to all of them. They haven't sent me anything the last few days, so it's been nice to have a break from that. I guess everyone is waiting for the inspection report to be final now. I haven't done any quilting, just didn't feel like it. I did some grocery shopping this morning and I'm hoping to go out a bit later and pick up some Girl Scout cookies, since they are on sale now. Then I get to stay in for a few days Take care and have a good weekend
