How does your family, spouse, partner, etc. impact our diet for good or ill if at all?

My husband is food pusher, but I usually can manage it. Sometimes I resist, other times I give in and adjust my day. He's seen me maintain my weight for 16 years, so he doesn't take my worries about gaining weight seriously.

Mr. Lani is always trying to lose weight so he is not much of a pusher, but he does get tempted by the local bakeries. He loves to buy treats for our young friends, who can consume this stuff without negative consequences, and when buying for them is hard put to resist getting a little something for himself and me. I am able to resist if I am on the high side of my range, and don't need the extra cals.

My husband is trying to re-lose weight after TKR so he can be a good influence when he’s serious. But he does indulge in trigger foods which can be tough. We had pizza for the SB, and it’s time to move on.

Over the years, my husband has gotten better about pushing BUT he still thinks he knows what is healthy and that I should do what he has recently read...schooling me when I don't want/need/agree with what he has to offer...

In the past, both my dad and my SO have been 'needing' junk food so we always had to have it in the house. But my SO has suddenly found the religion after spending 3 weeks at an Ayurvedic medical treatment place (for his back mainly) where he got no sugar, no refined carbs and lots of whole grains and vegetables. And he's lost weight so he's motivated to stick to the diet. My dad has also developed some difficulty swallowing so he's drinking Ensure in the afternoon which satisfies his need for sugar at around 4 pm.
I have cleaned the house out of all the treats and have been managing quite well staying on plan since I came back. I just need to still adjust how much I eat at lunch and what I eat so I don't get super hungry around 3-4 pm. My aim Is to start feeling hungry at 5 so that I'm ready for dinner around 6 pm.
Also, my SO got his main meal in the afternoon when he was there and he's motivated to do that too once he comes back. That will help with the hunger in the afternoon. Dinners will be soup and salad - which is what I eat now for lunch. Today I am going to add a protein shake (water and whey protein) to see if it helps with the mid-afternoon hunger.

ermabom , Good to hear your husband has found some religion about food. Also, my dad had Parkinson's and developed problems swallowing and they recommended nectars to drink because they are thicker. I think he used to drink apricot nectar. We bought the Kern's brand.

Thanks! I've heard that but he seems fine with his current diet so I'm not changing it right now. I'll keep that in mind. I've heard thicker liquids can be easier to swallow.
If he gets a bit more energy, I need to take him for an evaluation of his swallowing which may yield more answers.
