It is a dark rainy day and I am glad to be inside with the space heater on. Lunch was mjudra (lentil-bulgur-fried onions) with cabbage slaw dressed with lemon-garlic-tsp olive oil and then had a grapefruit from our garden for dessert. Hot cereal with apples, seeds, and nuts was breakfast with a drizzle of carob molasses made from the carob pods we traded into the processing plant for the molasses.
Yes I did: stay away from the wine aisle when shopping yesterday, picked up my sunglasses clip-on replcement, and had fun with friends while staying OP all day yesterday, walked 30 minutes
Yes I can: track every BLT (even though the app is not cooperating), make healthy choices, stay positive, and finish another book.
BOOKS: Finished the books by S.M. West that are the prequel and first in a small town romance series set in Montana. Nothing new or different but a fun relaxing read. I started Would You Rather by Shannon Hollinger - a YA novel with an edge - that is set in a small Florida beach town. It has themes of abuse, bullying, bigotry, homophobia and battery related to it, HS drama and angst, murder(s), and more. I read the end so know how it WILL end but now am reading what happens in the middle to cause it all to come about. Hope to post that review tonight if the internet allows and I finish the book.
CAROL: cravings are evil things and not always easy to thwart...they can be SO LOUD! I wish you success in staying away from the sugar monster's lure and also incentive to keep up with the decluttering.
JAN: Sending positive vibes for staying OP and seeing the scale number go down. I remember earthquakes in California...some were HUGE. There have been earthquakes here in Lebanon but so far, nothing as big as the ones in California...at least while I've lived here...there have been some BIG ones in past centuries that even included a tsunami.
Here's hoping this next seven days will see us all successful in achieving our daily goals.

Yes I did stay OP and tracked it all as best I could with the faulty app and saw a drop on the scale to 163 this morning
Yes I can stay OP and track every BLT today even though the app is not working as it should.
Dark day again and we are home without interest in going out. We will shop another day.
BOOKS: Finished WOULD YOU RATHER by Shannon Hollinger and it had a big surprise-twist at the end. I liked the story but am sure some will not like it at all. I need to write that review and am about halfway through a book by Rebecca Zanetti - enjoy this series of deep Ops even on book six which is what I am reading now. Hope to finish and review it tonight too.
The internet has been acting up so will write the reviews but post later if/when I can.

Happy Friday evening positive ones! It's been a happy and sad week this week! My DSIL (late brother's wife) had been in the hospital since end of January with what we later found out was liver and intestinal bleeding issues. My sis and I went to see her on Tuesday, and I'm sure glad we did. I have not seen her in about 3 years but we keep up on text or FB. She was in ICU and just so bad. She was able to recognize us and tried talking most of the while we were there (about 30 min before respiratory therapy came in). She did give us the I Love You sign as we were leaving, something my brother always did. I had told her that I was staying the night at dad's and on valentine's day (brother's birthday) dad was having mass said for him so we were going to go pray for her. She went into cardiac arrest on Wed evening and they revived her. She did again the next morning and then put her on temporary life support so that her dad could get there from AZ. How sad!!! She was 57. Still processing it. I have kept my focus though and inching closer to 9 lb down. I want to see 10 lb by end of February. My head is in the game, that definitely helps. Sally, enjoy your trip! Jan, sending you WL vibes lol Carol, Janet, Cathy waves for now! Nat

Good Saturday evening positive peeps! Today was a better day, less breaking down anyway! Several people reaching out on FB messenger about my DSIL, so I've been catching up with old friends.
Today was a good goal day, hit all 3 of them, plus a bonus of keeping the calories within range. I hit 9 lb down today, so fingers crossed for a good Monday WI. Must stay focused!! For Lenten observances I am doing a bible devotional daily and I'm going to be good to my body, which means focusing on reaching my 3 goals daily and hopefully some bonus goals daily (stay in calorie range, get outside for walk, and do some weights).
That's it for today. Waves to all!!

Good Morning!!!! Love light blessings and good health!
Hi to all. Nat I am so sorry to hear about your SIL.
Cathy thanks for keeping us going. I hope you continue to have consistent access to internet - selfishly - so you can keep us going.
Love to all that follow.
I am sorry that I dropped off the grid. This is a busy time of year for biz admin - due to taxes. I have everything ready for the preparer - it is in a bag in my trunk. I am hoping she is working tomorrow so I can get it to her. My biz is closed tomorrow and I have a full day of things like that set up. I have been using the time that I normally would use to check in here to do a little on the taxes every day. I have good records but numbers are not my long suit. I also took several rush jobs back-to-back.
30 degrees here but sunshine and singing birds. I had a tiny loss less week but just due to wearing spring clothing instead of heavy winter clothing. I am just glad that it was not a gain as I had several biz lunches. I do not make myself cut calories at biz lunches - I just have too much other stuff to worry about those things. However, those are my only splurges and I only attend a couple a month. Today: I really think it is too cold to try to work in the yard so weights at gym (probably chest/biceps/cardio), supermarket for healthy shopping, work, and then probably an indoor walk unless it warms up enough to walk outside. I do not do cold well at all! Fortunately the weather is supposed to improve tomorrow!! As always I have seen lots of movies but instead of trying to catch up just the review from last night's movie.
OT: movie review - "A taste of things" Beautiful. Set in the country in France at least a century ago. Love story with food and a couple. Instead of music - the sounds of nature in the background. Not the best movie to see if one is trying to avoid food though! Much meat so I was not as tempted as others would be. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 99% - I probably would give it 75%. But safe to take visiting family - no language, sex, violence, there is a little bit of skin showing.
Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good late afternoon positive ones! Brrr 30 degrees is a little chilly for Texas Janet LOL! Thanks for the movie review. I would probably love the view and the food, though trying to cut down more on the meat. Taxes already, didn't we just do them? lol Well we did in October Cathy, LOL on reading the end of the book and then filling in the blanks. Sounds like it covers all the issues of real life these days with the young, and set in Florida! Do they ban books also Lol! Sally, enjoy your trip! I see you are packed and ready to go on FB Jan and Carol, waves! Hope all is well. Yes I CAN: -Keep it together and end my eating early today. Scale said 9 lb down today, we will see if I can hold onto that. -Get my steps in. Got a ways to go for today. -Food all tracked, now to close the kitchen for the day. Waves, enjoy your evening. More weather coming in this week, we will see.... Nat

I have had hit or miss internet and when there is internet forget to check in...go figure. Also, the outdoor cat wants to come inside and my husband is against that idea except in the kitchen so we sit on plastic chairs in there and using a computer there is...not fun. Ah well...weather should improve soon?
I am sticking with the food program, tracking, etc and not letting a bump up on the scale this morning for no reason derail me.
Will catch up on books...next time I check in because we have to leave to run errands and need to get dressed to do so

Good Morning!!!! Love, light, blessings, and good health. Happy President's Day!
Nat WTG on your nine pound loss!!! You are a rock star and a good inspiration.
Cathy I hope your errands went smoothly and that you have consistent reliable internet soon!
Yes I did: I filled fridge with healthy zero point food- fish, fruit, vegetables. Chest and bicep workout at the muscle head gym after home abs/cardio. A nice late afternoon walk. Work. A lot of my cooking for the week is already done.
Yes I can: Libraries and rec center closed today but I have planned a day filled with errands and such. Lawnmower shop this morning after I touch up the yard a bit. Switching out mowers to be sharpened so I can start the summer yard season with two sharp mowers. Dentist this afternoon. Then reward myself with a nice long walk in Austin. 35 degrees now but clear/sunshine so will warm up later. Start out with home abs, some admin while it warms up enough to get out into the yard. But first dress in layers that I can peel off as it warms! Not complaining - the last two Central Texas Februarys meant severe ice storms.
OK - one, two, three . .. adulting! Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Happy President's Day Monday positive peeps! Waiting for some kind of weather to hit us maybe tomorrow. I will head down tomorrow to dad's before anything crazy starts up here. We have a tax appointment for him on Wed. Also he said their headstone was put in finally, so I want to go see mom.
Cathy, well plastic chairs in the kitchen doesn't sound fun LOL! Yay for sticking to program even if the dumb scale goes wacky sometimes.
Janet, long walk in Austin sounds nice! Hopefully the weather warmed into the 50s at least?
Waves Carol, Jan, and Sally. I see that Sally made it to Rio by her FB post. What fun!
Yes I DID: -Weigh in today and was 9.6 lb down, 1.4 down for this week. woohoo! -meet my 3 goals yesterday.
Yes I CAN: -Finish up my steps this evening. -Pick up my 8 lb weights for some reps. -Keep the kitchen closed. All tracked and done for today. -Get an outdoor walk tomorrow (I've been slacking there)
Waves to all, see you tomorrow...fingers crossed LOL! Nat

Yes I DID stock the kitchen with fresh produce, stay positive, save a few points for Saturday though I went WAY OVER last night and the scale is up Yes I CAN: track everything, stay within points today, stay positive, hydrate, write the review for the book finished this morning and start reading a new book
Nothing exciting to share. Need to spend time in the kitchen tidying up and will later. Hubby wants me to run errands with him for I don't know what and might or might not tag along.
BOOKS:
* Frostbitten by Rebecca Zanetti was a nice addition to the Deep Ops series - I will keep reading them as long as she writes them. This one is about a lawyer and a gadget creator that have both worked with the Deep Ops team in the past and end up on a case together in this book. There are twists and turns - it is a romantic suspense type book and was a fun read.
* The Plant-Based Diabetes Cookbook by Jackie Newgent is written by a person who has a website and has degrees to support the book she wrote. All recipes have nutritional information and look easy to create IF you have access to all of the ingredients and sadly, I don't here in Lebanon
* Hide Me Away by Lauren Street is about a woman who was in the military and left to be a police officer then had something happen that saw her leaving and returning home. She becomes involved in a murder case helping out the acting sheriff as he is "from away" and she is "a local" in the mountain community. I kind of thought it would be fun to continue the series BUT noticed that the next book in the series available to be read was number five so would miss out on three books and am not sure if I would have missed too much. Will think about requesting book five or not.
* The Lies You Wrote by Brianna Labuskes is a thriller with suspense that and is the first in a new series. There is a forensic linguist brought in on a case that had a brutal murder that may be a copycat of one that happened 25 years before. On the case is also a psychologist-profiler who lost his wife to a serial killer. There is a female doing a podcast on the murder that took place 25 years before and another woman that spends most of her time on the dark web searching out predators and then taking them down - usually through hints to the FBI. There are twists, turns, and interesting happenings that has me already requesting book two in the series that comes out in September. It also talks about "bad blood-genetics" and family and such and what sees one in a family become so different from others.
* Just started The Lyon's First Choice by Sara Adrien and have a feeling there are a LOT of characters in this story that have shown up in previous books/series by this author. This one has a physician and nurse that will probably end up married to one another as most in the Lyon's Den series do. I hope it is good but won't know till later tonight.
NAT: Being down nine pounds with the goal of one more pound is great! You can do it!
JANET: Thank you for the movie review and hooray for not seeing the scale up...even if it was just lighter clothing
BELLA tried to get inside to the plastic chairs in the kitchen...even sneaked by my husband...but he told her to leave and she reluctantly did so. At least there is no rain in the forecast and it is a bit warmer so she should be fine outside again.

Good Tuesday noon, positive peeps🐣🐥!
Just finished a very late breakfast of poached eggs and raisin toast. Yummy! Although I don't enjoy cleaning the very old-fashioned cookware afterwards, LOL! Hope y'all enjoyed your long holiday weekend. I was supposed to have cello choir yesterday but teacher's wife just gave birth to their second child on Sunday (everyone's doing well, yay!), so class was canceled. No individual lesson this week, either, because schools are on winter break. I am enjoying having a little more free time. Our elderly neighbor across the street has been away for several days…and no one seems to be taking care of the feral cats he usually feeds (and allows to shelter in his garage when it’s cold weather). We've had 3-4 inches of snow and some very cold nights. So I’ve been putting food and water for them in a sheltered area next to his garage. I wonder if and when our neighbor will return. And sure hope the neighbor is Ok, too!
Janet - yay for working on the "T" word....I need to buckle down and start mine. Having a little trouble staying focused on paperwork lately, would rather be doing something physical, like a walk or maybe practicing.
Sally - I'm sure you are enjoying your SA vacation! Bring back some sunshine!
Cathy - Hope your internet stays up for you! And good for you going with the flow with the darn scale...I realized just now I was supposed to go WI at a studio today, but totally "forgot", probably because I didn't think it would be favorable!
Nat - Yay for your focus and great WI! I know you'll make your February goal. And I'm glad you were able to visit DSIL, I'm sure it meant a lot to her.
Jan - hope all is well with you. I think of you & Nat every time they show California weather on the news! Sending y'all some protective light ✨
~~~~~~~~my computer is having problems with this website....back later after I do some chores~~~~~~~~~~
Happy Tuesday Evening.
I just can't seem to get my head in the game. Rain today and tomorrow has sent my knee pain to a 10. Even so I did errands and visited the library today. We had leftovers tonight which was from a very good Arabian restaurant from yesterday with friends. I just added a salad so not too bad a choice. The snacking is where I am really losing ground.
Yes, I CAN... --get on it and stay on it! --keep tracking and using my WW. --park my head in a positive space.
Nat: You are motivating me! Great job on the WL and I'm sure you will make your goal for Feb. My late brother's bday was the 18th, I am sorry for all your losses friend.
Cathy: I hope your kitty cat stays warm! Were you in CA when the Northridge quake happened? We felt that one all the way down here in S.D. Your scale is exactly where I'd like mine to be! High Five.
Carol: Hope your neighbor is OK. Bless your heart for feeding them.
Janet: 30-degrees sounds frigid! Will you be able to see the eclipse in April?
Back tomorrow!
Sun is shining, there will be hot water for showers, I had a haircut, and life is good. Nothing exciting to tell you about BUT so far it has been a beautiful day!
Yes I did: stay on program, track every BLT, walk 30 minutes while reading, and see a drop on the scale this morning Yes I can: repeat what I did yesterday and stay positive!
BOOKS: Finished the historical romance that had two Jewish main characters - a nurse and doctor - and mentioned the expectations of their families back then, talked about the situation in Vienna and why the doctor chose to leave for England, and mentioned his travel to India and Frace for further medical training. I learned a few tidbits in the notes at the back of the book and did some googling, too. Not my favorite in the series but as the series is written by multiple authors...not all will resonate.
I am off to walk, or eat, or something...hope you all have a good day.
CAROL: Too bad you missed your weigh-in. What old fashioned cookware do you have that you hate to clean?
JAN: I was in Lebanon in Saudi Arabia during the Northridge earthquake of 1994. The earthquake that I remember was when I was in college on the top bunk in the dormitory in an old building. It hit early in 1970 or 1971 and I pulled a pillow over my head and kept sleeping at 6am rather than getting up and running outside. There was another big one that took place when visiting mom that really "shook" my husband...it happened under the Rose Bowl (I think). There have been earthquakes in Lebanon in the past and some recently in Syria that caused buildings in Tripoli to collapse.
