Welcome to our 2016 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! November 1 - December 31
CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 24 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have over 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2017 feeling great!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know better….HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

TGIF!!!
The house does seem quiet without the boys. DH took them to the airport in the afternoon and came home with Long John Silvers for dinner. Not diet friendly, but I tracked it.
Mom said an intestinal bug is running rampant through her rehab, including her. She thinks she might be discharged next week.

Murphy- Hope you have a nice supper with your family tonight.
GG- Positivity?
Jan- Yay for getting organized and purging the stuff that was too far gone! I am losing my office at work in a few months due to construction. The boss keeps hinting that I can work from home if they don't find another office for me during the construction. We'll see.
Carole- I broke a toe when I was a kid- I think they splinted it.
Cindy- Yay for cutting the branches! We need to do some landscaping too. The hibiscus in the front are dying.
Thanks for the link to the Carrie Fisher- Debbie Reynolds link. DH saw the Carrie Fisher play before- said it was hilarious.

Good morning all and Happy Friday! If last Friday was "Christmas Adam" then maybe we should call today "New Years Adam"?? I toyed with the idea of taking today off but I've got end of the month and end of the year stuff to work on so I'll stay till mid-afternoon at least. Supper with the family across town at 5:30. Don't know if I can make it back to my meeting by 7:00 but I'd like to try.
Amy - What are you hoping for in possibly working from home? I think it sounds wonderful but I've never really had a job that would accommodate that.
GG - my 2017 word of the year is "Refillable". I'm taking that from something I saw (maybe on FB?) that said "Those who think the glass is half-full or half-empty are missing the point. The point is that the glass is refillable!" I take comfort in knowing that even when I mess up or have days when I'm just empty, there is still hope to experience a fullness in life! I like the idea of a word poster. I would suggest "Choose Happiness" as something to add to it.
Cindy - noises outside the house can be so annoying! Glad you were able to get the branches cut. Thanks for the link. I think it is so very sad about Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. It must be so devastating for the family to have two loses right on top of each other.
Carole - WTG getting your swimming in!
Jan - I got my little tree put up a couple of nights ago and will do the rest of the decorations this weekend. Really all I have out is a collection of Santa's and my Nativity set. I have a bunch of Snowmen out in my kitchen that I usually leave up till February. I'm still using my Snowmen dishes for another month so I'll pack those up later in the winter.
Meant to mention another benefit of being AF. You know how I bought a couple of new rings? Well - another benefit is that when I'm not drinking, I'm not picking at my nails and they are getting longer and stronger! So my rings look really nice! LOL Hope everyone has a great Friday! Murphy

Good morning! Amy, I tracked yesterday too! Dh fixed spare ribs in the crockpot. The marinade was pretty low point, but the meat itself was high. But it was good!
I got my 10,000 steps in! I finally did the line dance DVD DD got me. I like how they show the dances step by step. Maybe now I will remember them! But they are club line dances! The electric slide was to some other music! I think I will be using youtube to get the real music!
I am home today except for going to get my hair done at 3. I think I might be ready to take my tree down too. What is happening to me??? As much as I love the lights, I am ready to declutter.
Amy: How wonderful if you could work from home!!
Murphy: Enjoy the bday dinner tonight! Refillable. I like overflowing better! When I keep my eyes where they should be, my cup overflows! If you miss your meeting, that will be 2 missed?
Carole: I,didn't know you could do anything for toes either!
Jan: I made a motivation board of why I wanted to lose weight. It was mainly pictures of my family, retirement, health. The usual. I think I am going to take my words poster and add bible verses to it as well. One big visual for when I am tempted and losing my focus. I think you are right. Putting yours together on NYE is a great activity.
Cindy: I think using a different word a week might be something we could all work on and report in on during the challenge. I need to start writing down all my ideas. They are just swimming in my head at the moment. I don't want them to get lost in the abyss!!
Ok, I need to get started on something here! It would be so easy to just sit and relax all day!

Just checking in, have work this morning home around 8. Don't plan to get much done around the house today, took a few ornaments off, just seems to early to me, may wait until Sunday after all. I have a new journal, with coloring and inspirational sayings that I will start on the first. I will add the list of words there. I also need awareness, mindfulness, frugal, recycle, sober and strong. I got my 12000 steps yesterday and hope to get in a lot at work today too. Not sure if I will make it to WI tomorrow, I work at 8, but I'm off next Saturday and will start my new year and challenge with a meeting. Just keep tracking! Carole Yay for the swim, I hope I can just work enough hours to justify paying for a gym again. I know it would help my journey. Hope you get the hours you want. GG Glad you got your steps and tried the dancing. Love "overflowing". Enjoy your day off. Amy Hope you get to work at home!! Yuck about the bug at the rehab, seems to happen quite a bit, my mom used to get dehydrated when that happened. Enjoy your weekend, I probally won't be staying up to midnight as I work on Sunday too! Cindy Can't wait to see what you come up with for the challenge, and adding the words will be great. Is their someone to hire to cut back the trees and fix the gutter or just too expensive? Let us know if you find a good new book!! Murphy Hope you get the reports done. Yay for nice nails, and staying AF. Where has this year gone? ?? Hugs to all

Hello friends. No, I haven't left the building, just haven't been posting. I've actually just cancelled my WW subscription. I was throwing away $45 a month - not going to meetings and not tracking. I think I'm going to go back to the small group training I did a few years ago. I stopped because of the cost but I'm thinking of giving it another try. Waiting for info on the cost. We have far more bookings for 2017 than we had this time last year for 2016, so I'm hoping to justify the cost. Also, in the past I had to miss workouts when DS wouldn't go to school but that's not an issue any more. His attendance has been fabulous since starting at the High School, apart from a couple of days of genuine sickness just before Christmas. DD is back at work this week after a case of walking pneumonia before/during Christmas. She's mainly in a 2-year olds' class and the kids are all over her, so she's going to catch everything going around! She's happy to be back at work. DH and I are heading into Boston this afternoon for afternoon tea at a lovely hotel, one of my Christmas gifts. I've never really been to a fancy afternoon tea before, which is ironic really! We're going to have a good walk around and blow away the cobwebs. I have a cold that won't fully come out as a cold but won't go away - just a stuffy headache that I can't shift. I'm hoping some sea air will blow it away And actually, because I haven't felt great, I've been AF for a few days without any problems. I know that moving more and cutting back the A is key for me. We've had a lovely relaxing week at home but I am ready to jump into 2017. I really don't like New Year's Eve for some reason. I always get sad to see the old year go and the festivities always seemed a little forced. I rarely stay up until midnight but I might try this year. I'm excited for 2017 and I'm excited that I'll be going home at the end of Feb to see my Mum and family. I got quite teary this week because I was homesick and had wanted to spend Christmas in England. But then I got over it Thanks for being so patient with my appearances and then disappearances!

Hello my friends! It's 4:30 and I'm at work😨 subbing for a girl. Keeps me away from the food though! I've had a good few days, feels good to be on track. Going to talk to dh about getting my knee done late january. Mainly because I want to be able to go to parents weekend wherever alexis decides to go to school! At Iowa it's Oct 27, so I can't do it in fall, she'll leave for school middle august.....that's my story and I'm sticking to it! DH and I are going out to dinner tomorrow night, I'd like to see a movie but we'll probably come home alexis wants to have people over and we don't want them drinking.
Amy, I hope dm feels better.
Murphy, I just had a manicure, I love when my nails look nice.....although she looked at me like I was crazy because my nails are SO short!
Gg, I think my word is blessed.
Jan, I am starting to keep everything! You never know when you might need it for a craft!
Helen, the sea air fixes everything! I've been thinking of taking alexis to a tea..I'm excited to hear about it!
Cindy, you are one brave woman! I would've cowered under my blankets until it was light to cut the branch!
Have a wonderful night!
