Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be! We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

SHAPING UP FOR SPRING EQUINOX! February 11 - March 31
Spring is coming!
Supportive Friends Progress not Perfection Renewal of Being Inspiration New Habits Great Success!
This can be your Spring! This can be your success! No more rationalizing and making excuses.
This challenge isn't just about being alcohol free though it is the focus of the board. It is about finding and giving encouragement, getting healthy, loving ourselves, and finding what works and what doesn't. This is NOT about making ourselves feel badly about the unhealthy choices, it is about celebrating the healthy ones. So let's go for it!
As always, the rules aren't complicated. Simply no alcohol and staying on your food plan. If you get off track, don't give up....don't throw away the day, the night, the week. We are working on progress not perfection.
You may have alcohol issues that you cannot manage on your own and our group is here to support you and encourage you to get the help you might need. You may have alcohol issues that you can control but have to exert the motivation and our group is here to support you.
Spring clean your cupboard early! If you have junk food, tempting alcohol, or trigger foods in your kitchen, you are setting yourself up for failure. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is always going to happen. Don't make it easier for yourself to give in to it. Assess your kitchen, ask if this helps or hinders me. DO NOT have sentimental attachment to food or alcohol. The stuff will always be there, it does not magically disappeared but your health can be compromised! This is your life! Make it the best!
REMEMBER…. 1. Work the Plan and the Plan works! Think of your new eating plan as a lifestyle change -- one that will have ups and downs, with good days and (very few) bad.
2. Don't deprive yourself. A food plan should be about SATISFACTION. Find foods you LOVE that will help you meet your goal.
3. Drink lots of water. Water is good for you.
4. Listen to your body. It knows things. Pay close attention to your body cues.
5. Live one day (or even one MEAL) at a time. Don't be discouraged and beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon. Just get back on with lots of helping hands.
6. Get exercise with activities you enjoy. If you don't like what you are doing, then you won't stick with it.
7. Keep track of what you eat. Write it down. You WILL 100% without a doubt make better choices if you hold yourself accountable for what you eat by keeping a food journal. (kinda sorta HG ideas)

Even though I know I'm heading out to work later, it still feels like the weekend and I'm looking forward to doing some shopping and snooping this afternoon and maybe tomorrow. Got off track a bit yesterday with the junk, I tracked 17 pts of treats and that makes it tough to eat in my budget. Will be a better day today. It's sunny and pretty but deceiving at 7 degrees out. Coldest night in a long time but temps going back up. There was a fishing get together last night at the park even tho no one can go out on the ice for the "contest" They had a fish fry, a band and the cars were all parked in front of our house. Heard people leaving around 11, brave to be out in the cold. Cats slept in the basement last night. Finn wanted out this morning but he lasted about 10 minutes He always just has to check it out for himself. Scout was content to be up here and snuggled up on his radiator. Will need to think of a dinner plan. I'm heading to Walmart after work to get cat food, yarn, vitamins and a few other things, but then on to the regular grocery to shop some items from their sale ad. See if anything but donuts call out my name Guess I should get moving, just going to make a big bowl of oatmeal for breakfast on this cold morning. Then to count out my 38 bitty pretzels for a work snack. I will take a baby cheese and a cut up apple too and be glad to leave around lunch time to get away from the temptations. I just need enough to eat so I don't go to the store Hangry. Have a great Saturday all. Check in later. Jan Murphy 40, brrr just teasing you. Your soup sounds good, I've never made. I am in the pinning back my bangs and just trying to live through the awkward hair growth period. I want it long enough to pull back again but keep chopping off the bangs and then just have a mess. If I don't like it by next month I will go somewhere and actually have it cut, colored and styled! My reward for dry February. I woke up from what was a "nightmare" for me. I was wearing some outfit and people were commenting and I was trying to explain some kind of fashion mode and how to wear certain clothes!! Yikes. So out of my comfort zone ha ha. I will send them to you or Cathy next time Carole Your outfit sounds cute and you will be ready. Enjoy your 3 day weekend, any fun plans? What is your new Cross stitch of? Hi to all

Went and got my hair trimmed and I really like this cut. My hair is short and the style is messy so I'm not terribly picky about the cut. But I had a couple of pictures from Pinterest and she really did a good job. It's a bit shorter than usual but it's hair! It grows! LOL. Came home and sorted through the freezers to take stock of what is there and planned a few meals. Now I have my lasagna soup simmering and will have that for supper. Tomorrow I will put a small pork roast in the crock pot. Meals are planned out!
Jan - hope work goes smoothly today! I got the black jean jacket because I already had a blue and a white jean jacket. I really like this one and it was definitely worth $17!! I haven't had the nerve to "Caw Caw" yet but maybe some day I will! LOL. I have loved all the pictures of the cats and dogs on that pet bed. My Aldi isn't a very big one and they usually don't have all of the great things you see advertised from the AOS. And I'm sure that 40 sounds like a heat wave to you with all the cold you have! LOL. Cathy is definitely our fashionista! She has such great outfits!
Nothing big planned the rest of the day. Will check back later! Murphy

DH & I drove to Logan Farm Park yesterday morning to walk. Lots of folks out, cloudy, but nice. When we were done walking we went to Ingles for groceries. When we got home and the groceries put away I had lunch and a bit of couch time then made Hungry Girl's Strawberry Cheesecake Fro-Yo Bark, review to follow. We had chicken parm for dinner, with the fro-yo "bark" for dessert. It was tasty but melts too quickly to be like bark, sort of like eating ice cream with your fingers. We had a bit leftover and I've decided it's a good recipe but would be better as a parfait. After dinner we played Skipbo then watched a few episodes of Not Dead Yet. I went to bed earlier than I usually do on Friday nights and slept well.
It's cold and windy today, barely into the 40's. We took the golf cart to the nature trail to walk, then had bacon, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, and banana muffins for brunch. DS has gone home.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started and WTG getting the day/date right, LOL. WTG doing your errands, glad you like your new haircut. Glad you slept well. I need to find an Aldi around here to check out the AOS. Enjoy your lasagna soup.
Vicki- Yay for stay at home Friday and heart shaped Jello. WTG getting your appointments made. I won't be in a smaller size if I don't stay out of the treats.
Jan- WTG steps 11/11, PU, stretches, AP, blue dot, AF. Glad it still seems like the weekend even though you are working today. Hope you are not as tired after work today. I don't think I've ever made an appointment for a blood draw, I just show up. DH had an ANIM night this week, but got right back on track.
Carole- Hope you had fun at bunco. Yay for a nice outfit for your interview.
Cindy, Liz- Thinking of you.

Hi friends! It was coooold today. We’re watching a movie that’s in polish, but dubbed in English. Annoying to me! Not much to report.
Amy, I love graham crackers, not sure they’d be safe to make the dessert! Although nothing is safe currently!
Jan, how was work?
Hello to all, sweet dreams!
