Debbie sent me pictures that the grandma took of the girls last night. They had taken them to Marcos Island to a pizza/pasta place and was commenting on how wonderful it is to have teenagers around. I told Debbie those two are definitely the exception these days as they do have fun and are fun to be around but very respectful of their elders. She said Maija texted her that she was having a blast!
Today I think I'll get some fish from the grocery store that prepares it for you and also have to get laundry done. I don't think I'll get on the scales at my meeting tomorrow as this week has not been very good on eating. I did fine on eating out but Fred had things around here that were definitely trouble for me. But I don't want to miss my meeting so will go and take a pass at weighing in. Gail we were given those samples last week and I thought it was going to be like a cookie but it was more like a cinnamon chip. We didn't get the gum though.
i'm thinking Fred must still be thinking about a smart phone as when we were in Costco yesterday he talked to the Verizon people to see if they offered a better deal than the actual Verizon store but they didn't. They had a rose colored phone that he seems to like. He asked if you can buy the phone outright and they said yes and it's $498 so to pay $16 a month for two years is a good deal. The one thing he doesn't like is having to charge it every night as the flip top only needs to be charged once a week. So I just let him ask his questions and think about it as he was told if he brings in his army discharge papers he would get $16 off the monthly bill.
Hope all have a fantastic day!

Good morning all.
Sandy I too got into Don's snacks. He bought honey roasted peanuts, and thinking I could just eat a few didn't turn out well.
Based on my experience here I would work with the real Verizon rather than the contract seller. I dislike the big monthly bill but love the service I get.
I get a haircut this morning. Need to do my yoga stretches for my back too.

good morning
Our record and near record temperatures are gone for now. It is 54 this morning and I see my windows in this room are steamed up. I need more than a sweater outside today.
Sandy-- Marco Island is just south of Naples. I am glad the girls are having a good time but they won't be going swimming today.

Good Morning All! Happy Friday!
Sandy, Thanks for starting us off! Glad Maija is having a great time in FL. Mike and I discovered Marco Island last year when we were on vacation. We loved it there!!!
Jane, Thanks for those great ideas of things to do in Naples. We really haven't explored Naples when we are at our timeshare.

Ruth Naples is very pretty at night. If you walk down Fifth Ave., the restaurants are open air and the lighting is pretty. There is a small theater that has plays--never been to it so don't know anything about it. The park has free concerts many weekends and a couple of times a year they close Fifth Ave. to traffic and have art festivals which are very interesting. Tin city has always been a favorite place of mine. The boat ride takes you past the mansions and is very nice. Many little shops in Tin City and restaurants. I have been going to Naples since the 70s and if Don had come along sooner I wouldn't have sold my parent's house there but would be living in it. Although I am very happy living in Estero.

Greetings! It's cool and gray out there again. This morning is yoga and then I'm running a couple more errands.
I am so against fabric softener as mentioned recently. I've been using tennis balls bu started looking around to see if there was anything else and I learned about wool balls. So, I'm going to get some wool, make a few and try them out. Wool yarn is on sale now at Michaels and Joann's. I'm thinking of some darker wool for darks.
I bought some Israeli couscous to try a new recipe. the pieces are much larger than I've tried before. Unfortunately, it's got way more carbs than I expected but I am going to give it a veggie load. I'm looking for alternative side dishes, but I'm not sure this one is it.
I finally gave up and called the insurance company yesterday to replace DH's blood sugar monitor figuring we'd have to get a new Rx but I didn't want to get it too soon. Turns out we can get a free replacement so we ordered that. Should be here in two weeks. DH is working now and then on his blood sugar but the lack of feedback, an actual number, isn't helping. And we could have ordered it so much sooner. Oh well. At least we have it on the way now.
Must get ready for yoga.

Jane, glad the site gave you some people to work with. It's the one I think I'll try to work with in Denver so that's good to know.

Good afternoon Well my Dear Fl. and Other Friends throughout the U.S. we got 19 inches of snow last night. Ann must be in her glory at Sugar Loaf which is where she said she was going. I'm not sure how much snow they got but it's probably more than what we got. I changed my avatar so not sure if it'll come out. I was out there earlier snowblowing the paths and then did the back deck.

Joanne--stay safe. I can't even imagine dealing with that kind of weather any more. I am complaining that the A/C was on in the clubhouse and made it cold. We are such wimps now.

I've been busy marking things for the garage sale.
Here's the salad dressing I made that I love.

We got snow, but thank goodness not as much as you Joanne. It did look beautiful on the trees though. Be careful.
I worked this morning. WW has a new special. If you join (free joining), buy a monthly pass, and lose 10 pounds in the first two months, you get your monthly pass money back. Good deal!
A new leader did the meeting today. He was great and very excited to be there. Then I went shopping to pick up stuff for our community's New Year's Day Brunch. I dropped some items off at the clubhouse and delivered the hams to the three couples that will be heating them up. We will also have egg casseroles. I loved the recipe Ruth gave me last year, but since I am co-hosting, I figured someone else could do it this time.

I got an invitation to a Bar Mitzvah for the son of another of Mort's nephews in Miami. My best friend from HS offered to put me up if I went down. I'd love to do that. I'll see if she is having other guests in Feb. She has had lots of physical problems, but is doing better. It would be great to catch up, and I love Mort's relatives, with the one exception of his brother (an angry jerk who yelled at Mort when he was dying).
I just got two books on Greece that I look forward to reading, both non-fiction. I suggested those of us going on the trip in May view some of the films together that take place there: SHIRLEY VALENTINE, ZORBA THE GREEK, NEVER ON SUNDAY, MAMA MIA to get us in the mood. Any others anyone can think of?
I know Maija is lovely from everything you have told us about her Sandy. Glad they are having a wonderful time.
Sandy and Sharon, I have learned over and over that I can't resist tasty things that are in the house. And I have no one to blame but me for bringing them in here.
Have a lovely day friends.

19 inches of snow. Wow, no way do I want that much all winter long let alone in one snowfall. JoAnne be careful with moving that snow. Today has been sunny and was 42 degrees when I last looked. To turn COLD in a couple days.
DH sister just called and that had been to the Care Center to see their mother. She says DMIL is in a lot of pain. We will be going tomorrow, but basically we drive down and back. She will not know any of us are there. A little over two months until her 99th birthday.
Jane, Ruth and Sharon, I would to love to find a bus tour to Florida. We have been there twice, but both times was very cold there. When we took our daughter, she so badly wanted to swim. She did wrap in a blanket and went to the heated pool for a while, but not her dream swim. If I remember it was about 32 degrees or so. They were worrying about the orange's.
I got the garage swept out before it gets really cold again. Bird feeders are full at the moment.
Everyone in the snow path stay safe. They are calling for a lite snow here Sunday.
Thinking of Geri.
Have a relaxing evening.

This was a nsv for me. At the bridge game --a big tin full of chocolate covered stuff and I walked past it. And I am very hungry so pleased that I did this. I am so easily tempted. Now to figure out dinner and get it going.
