Yayyyyyy CJ. I'm so happy for you!! I hope the rest will go smoothly and it's all over soon. I hate when companies play games like they did with you. They probably thought you'd settle for the lower price. I'm glad you bought that yarn to try. I may buy some sometime when they have it on a better sale. Congrats for getting those blocks done
Ginny, I hope your tax preparation goes well and you have a good day. I hope the tricks you are planning with your sewing machine work well and you can get dgd's quilt done.
Isillyme, welcome to the thread. My craft is crocheting while the other two crochet and quilt. I've never been on a cruise but a cruise where you crochet much of the time would be idyllic. Of course the favorite thing for me would be the food. Many on my family have been on cruises and I've seen menus. It would be dangerous to me because I love to eat. I've been a WW lifetime member since about the time WW started and after gaining and losing for years I finally got even below my goal weight and have maintained that for 7 years now.I'm in fact 28lbs below the goal weight they set for me. What kinds of things do you prefer to crochet. I sometimes think that collecting yarns and patterns is my actual hobby. Is there a name we can call you besides isillyme?
I worked on dd's afghan again last evening. It's easy to gain or lose a stitch in this pattern so some of my crochet time was used to fix it again.

Good afternoon, Hey, Sillyme….for YEARS I was unable to post here that I had crafted a darned thing. It was a very busy season of life for me, one which I loved to dream of quilting and crocheting or whatever and got very little done. Please do not feel as though we expect a progress report on what you have accomplished! Anyway glad you are here…. I also have been known to make silly food crafts with my grandkids when I watch them. Not sure if that counts as crafting, but I think it does. CJ- that is AWESOME!!! So good to hear that you are on target for selling the house for your asking price and that they are allowing the deal to go through. What a massive relief for you. Good to hear that you got your blocks done. Ruth, you? Collect yarn? Never….😂. Just like CJ and I do not collect fabric. Glad you got some time in on DD’s afghan. When do you hope to have it completed by? (I know by DD’s bday…but how much longer do you have to work on it?) I have tried everything…broke another needle this afternoon…so my machine is all packed up and ready to go on its Michigan vacation. I hope Michigan is pretty. Never been there. Ha ha ha I did get my taxes done and was shocked that I am entitled to a refund, and yes that will pay for the repair of my machine. Think I am going to put the singer away, and wait the 2 weeks for my Husky to come home. So all this means that I am either crocheting or embroidering for the next 2 weeks. think I will be visiting some family in the next month, so having something to do during down time will be nice. I wonder if the simpler project is a better one to start. I will miss my machine while its gone. Ginny

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I have been crocheting since 2013, met so many other people that crochet as well. I never knew much about the community. I have been to conferences for crochet, met others that knit as well. Hoping my crocheting will give me points for activity I would rack up a ton. I started WW 3 days ago, and I love it. I use to skip meals or ate once a day but I am sticking to this. Already I am feeling my energy pick up

I'm sure we can all relate to your weight loss attempts.sillyme. I've tried them all. Then I decided that I was too old and was never going to be slim so I gave up "dieting", weighing myself all the time and thinking too much about what I ate.I was shocked when I finally did get on the scale and found that I had lost a significant amount of weight while just eating healthier.I didn't feel deprived. My portions came under control and I realized my energy was better too as you said your's is so far. Congratulations to you and I hope it continues to work for you. I like how ww has changed over the years to give more leeway and being more realistic about how a person can lose weight and maintain that loss.
I do know how to knit but rarely do it because crochet is faster and it's easier to fix mistakes. I also sew a little but not much. I also took some quilting classes but haven't really made anything quilted even though I would like to make small things just not a large actual quilt.

I sort of half tried to knit a few times, but just find I prefer to crochet, which I find very peaceful and relaxing.. I do get into trouble with those “mindless” patterns and I know i have to count each row and keep track.
Sillyme, good luck on program. WW is a wonderful program and and it works when followed. I love it because they actually teach you how to deal with real life situations ad shortcomings, dealing with it in a healthy manner.
Well, today was the day…and my husky is gone….I hope it’s an easy repair and that I get the machine back in a short amount of time.

I checked in a few times but no one had posted so I waited. Ginny, I'm glad you got your Husky in and I do hope it doesn't take long to service it and get it back to you.
Yes most of the time crocheting is very relaxing.
We did go out today to the store that has the ground beef special and we also were able to get our money that they overcharged last week. Of course nothing is ever easy and one of my coupons didn't show up so luckily I caught that while still at the store and was able to get that money returned to me also. There sure were a lot of people out to day. A lot more than last Friday.
Then I was trying to order a new toilet online from Home Depot and that was a challenge. Finally did get it ordered. Now I'm going to see when dgs can come over and help move it to the bathroom and the old toilet out.
I did get some crocheting in but that also was a pain. I do use stitch markers to mark the beginning and end of my rows but found the missing stitch was in the middle of a row 4 rows back. In those 3 rows between you can't tell if you have any missing or extra stitches and I hate counting all those 154 stitches.

Ruth, glad you were able to straighten out the issue with the store over charging. Simply amazing how it’s not easy to correct those errors. Honestly I have said this before many times, why bother with the coupons??? The stores already know what we are purchasing with our discount cards…. So why put the population through the sort of torture they do by asking us to cut coupons or download digital coupons? Will Home Depot be able to deliver your new toilet in a timely fashion? Will DGS be able to also install the toilet or is that something you and Dh will do? I remember that you both take on plumbing tasks at your house. Hats off to you for that. Absolutely do not blame you for not wanting to count back 154 stitches. Yikes that sounds like a lot of counting…did I say something about crochet being relaxing?
Think yesterday was just too much for me. I feel fine today but really was tired at the end of the day- especially because I had rehearsal last night.
Not sure what today will bring, other than Dd is coming over I think.
CJ- hope things are proceeding nicely with the transfer of the house to the real estate company….are you getting some quilting time in?
Sillyme-how are you finding Weight watchers? Do you have an active crochet project that you are working on?

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today and having a nice day We had rain here earlier, but I think it's over now. The temperatures are going to be getting up into the 60s for several days. Yesterday I finished putting together the February cottage temperature block and joined it to January's block. I like a quilt along like this where I can get a bit done each week. I've also pulled out the fabrics to make my blocks for this month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge. The color this month is purple: superscrappy.blogspot.com/I'm hoping I'll get all my blocks done this weekend and maybe next week I can get back to work on the quilt tops for the other two Moda Blockheads groups and the basket blocks that finished in December. Hope you all get to do some crafting this weekend too. Take care

So far, I managed to increase my water intake, decrease the coffee intake. I noticed I am not missing the diet coke, or any soda for that matter. I have been going over the weight watchers website, and seems like I am understanding it. I track everything that goes in my mouth. When I am crocheting I usually find a quiet time in the evenings, while I am watching television. Hubby is on board with weight watchers as well.

Sounds like you are doing great Sillyme!! Think they still have a live chat, should you need personal assistance with program. I am happy for you that your Dh is also on program.. My Dh never really had a weight problem, so I was always flying solo - and he was notorious for keeping a lot of snacks in the house that were tempting and easy to go off program on. Crocheting is an awesome way to stay on program and out of the kitchen at night!!

Good afternoon everyone.
Sillyme, You're doing great. I never did cut down on my caffeine and in fact have never joined online and haven't been to a meeting in years but I do know what I need to do to keep my weight down. It's great that your hubby is with you on this. It helps when both are of the same mind.Oh and depending on which laptop I use I'm either Ruth or Grandma15 so they're both me.Therefore there are only 4 of us now that you joined us and again, we're glad you're here
I met our new neighbor today. She came to my driveway as I was coming back from the mailbox. This development is mostly people that have lived here for decades and there must be very few childr4en because I haven't seen any in years. There is a school bus shed at the highway so there must be children somewhere here but they must live on the other part of the development because, as I said, I haven't seen children here in a long time. This woman I met today had her two daughters with her. They looked like they both were somewhere around 8 years old or so. I guess it's the beginning of us oldies moving out (or dying off which is what happened to the previous owner of the house this young woman and her hubby bought) and hew generation moving in.
I did a tiny bit of housework today so far and dh cooled some so the rest of the day will be either crocheting or going into my "craft cave" and looking around at the unorganized mess...well I have too much yarn

Happy Sunday everyone: I went to work this morning, and after work my husband and I along with my 2 dogs did a very long walk. My poor dog's were panting big time. A long walk for us is 45 minutes non stop going up the hills, and down of course, my pup which we adopted from a kill shelter was most likely wondering what are you doing?? It felt great. I am believe in practicing my craft so I will be working on Tunsian crochet, I am learning new techniques with this. Something I learned during my cruise last month. I hope everyone is having an awesome day. (evening depending where you are)

Ruth - well that is the sign of change, new neighbors coming in…hope that this family is a positive addition to your development. Sometimes its nice to hear the sound of school buses and children about, as long as its not a mob of kids.
Sillyme- wondering what you do for a living, which of course you do not have to answer!!! I am a semi retired school bus driver, which does mean that I am a bit crazy for taking on that job. I love children and deeply care about their safety…. Please educate me, what is Tunisian crochet? W hat are you making?
Well I finished (sort of ) cleaning up my sewing room while my machine is on holiday. Actually it’s nice to see the room looking sort of neat instead of a dishelveled mess.
CJ- you have been quiet today…hope that you are enjoying the somewhat spring temps.
Gonna have a salad and then crochet.

Hello isillyme - I hope you enjoy doing the Tunisian crochet. And I wish you the best with your weight loss Ruth - It's strange watching our neighborhood change while we are still there, that is how it felt for me at my old house. Hope you are enjoying a crochet project. Ginny - Hope you enjoyed your salad and that you were able to spend some time crocheting. I went up to my house today to meet with some family there. There were a few things left in the house that they wanted to look at and one of my great-nephews took a few pieces of furniture and the other great-nephew took some of my father's tools. I think that is just about it for things that are coming out of the house, maybe just a few more things out of the garage. This morning I was able to finish some of my monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks and just have a few more to do. Take care

Ginny, Tunisian crochet has actually been around for years but now people are acting as though it's new. You use those double ended crochet hooks and now crochet hook with a long cable attached. They used to call it the afghan stitch then crochetnknit, etc. I've done some because I inherited my ddil's mother's hooks and pattern books but I'm really not interested in doing it now because I, as you know, have way too many projects planned already with "regular" crochet.
Sillyme, I hope you enjoy the Tunisian. Just wanted to say that I'm a retired nurse.Retired 20 years ago and have enjoyed every minute of my freedom.I loved my patients but was frustrated and stressed when I didn't have time to do all I wanted to do for them mostly because of understaffing. I hope you have a job you enjoy. I know that Ginny enjoys her work. Good work on that walk. Walking helps in so many areas. It can help reduce cholesterol, help with bone density and of course building muscle and providing aerobic exercise to help the cardiovascular system. It also can help with depression, anxiety and I'm sure other medical issues I can't remember right now.
Today we set up a whole new plan for after dh's surgery. I suggested this months ago but it was only today that dh realized that this plan is much better. So we worked on rearranging some things to make sure he will have room to move around safely.
I'm going to crochet now for the rest of the day.
