Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

My niece just texted me about a crochet pattern to make your own “peeps” for Easter. They are so cute….nope not going to do it myself as I can barely finish the projects I have in the pipeline!!!

I've seen patterns and videos for peeps. I probably should make some for the greatgrandchildren that live here but I'm not going to. Easter is early this year and I don't want to feel rushed for the whole month of March. My youngest grandson in Indiana would probably like them too although he would probably prefer the real candy ones.
It's a fairly warm day here but the wind is extreme. Tomorrow the high will only be in 20's
I did work on my afghan last evening but most of the time was spent trying to figure out what went wrong that I had the wrong stitch count. I still have to do one more row to make sure it's coming out right now. The other day I got yarn together for another baby blanket I want to make then forgot what one it was. I did finally find the right pattern so I'm all set to make that one whenever I get around to it.I do have to finish dh's afghan before his surgery. That's my goal anyway.
CJ, I hope you hear from that company today. I know you want this all to be done and over with.
Ginny, were you able to find a time that will work for taking in your machine? Did the Singer work ok?

Hello - Hope you've both had a good day and nice weather. It was much milder here and is supposed to be for the whole week. Ginny - Sorry your DD's family is ill, hopefully you can get some time to relax since you won't be babysitting. But I'm sure you'll still be busy Ruth - Hope you can get your DH's afghan done. I hope you won't have too much more cold weather. I finished the Moda Blockheads top yesterday and was so happy to be done with it. It looks "alright" but definitely not one of my favorite quilt tops I've made. I still have a bunch of the fabric and I think I'm just going to cut them into 5 inch squares (maybe some in 2.5 inches too) and put them together for a quilt top. I've put that fabric away for right now since I want to get the Moda Blockheads weekly block done by tomorrow. I was shocked to hear from the house buying company late this afternoon with the inspection results and their new "lower" offer. I wasn't really surprised, so I'm prepared to drop them and move onto the next company. I'd like to have been done with the house sale, but there's no way I can accept their low price.. Take care

CJ, I'm glad you got that Moda Blockhead quilt done. Now it can be off your mind and you have the satisfaction of being able to put it away and not have to try to force yourself to finish is any longer.
Now they say the high tomorrow will be only 21 and snow but it was almost 50 today..maybe even hit 50 and Thurs and Friday are to be about 51. Strange weather but I won't complain because, as I'm sure I mentioned,Feb is usually the worst month and this year it was not bad at all.

Cj- that is so disappointing for you that the final offer on your house was so low. I hope that the other company provides a better offer. Must be so frustrating for you because you wanted to have the house sold quickly. I do remember how anxious I was to finally be free of my mother’s house. For better or for worse the Moda blockheads quilt top is done and I am happy for you! Time to move onto a project that you are pleased with how it turns out. Glad your temps are stable…. I have a cold front coming through .
Ruth - you do make me dizzy with all the crochet afghans you make! How far along are you into Dh’s? I agree those peeps are adorable but I bet are annoying to make because they are small. Of course it would be a struggle to get them done in time for Easter, which is only a month away. Yes a good idea to let those pass and work on the baby afghan.
I ended up seeing a doctor yesterday - just do not feel right. I think I am getting better slowly but I run out of energy in the evening. I did get some crocheting done while waiting yesterday. This morning I did get the singer to behave but because this is a top stitch that I want to use it for, I am not so sure I will use it. if I am feeling up to it I can drop off my husky tomorrow .
Rain is on its way… and I have another mild day tomorrow. Then winter returns on Thursday.

CJ, I don't now how I missed seeing that you had heard from the company you were contemplating selling your house to and that they gave you an unacceptably low price. I hope you can find a company that will offer a price that is what you feel is one that you can live with.
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that you felt so bad that you had to go to a doctor. Was the doctor any help? I hope you feel better soon. It was not long ago at all that you and your son had that gi problem. I really hope that they do a good job on your Husky machine. I'm sure it was expensive and it's supposed to be a great machine.
I just saw on the news that it looks like you both may get the wind we had here yesterday.Today there is no wind at all., not even a breeze which is unusual for here. We got snow also but the roads were warm enough that all the snow that fell on them melted. Of course our vehicles have snow on the which is no problem since we're not going anywhere until Friday which is expected to be warm.
Despite the fact that I had to spend several hours night before last in fixing this afghan that I'm working on, I have about 12 inches done and it's very wide compared to my usual afghans so it was a lot of crocheting to get done in that time. I plan on making it to at least 60 inches. I don't know if I have enough of the yarn but luckily I bought it from Mary Maxim so can get the same yarn from them with free shipping with buying just what I need without having to spend a certain minimum. That is with their free shipping offer when you leave your order in your cart for a day or so.Supposedly Joann's does the same thing but I've never had that offer from them. The afghan, of course, will be wider and longer after I add a border.

Good morning, Ruth, forgive me for asking so many questions! This somewhat wider afghan that you are working on- is this the one for Dh? That is an excellent plan that you have for obtaining more yarn and a great way to take advantage of how Mary Maxim operates as a company. The afghan I am working on I bought from them- and I found them to be a great company to order from when I did order this afghan kit. So glad they are still in business! No I have never been able to wrangle a deal like that from Joanns, which of course does charge even “free shipping” orders with a $1.99 order processing fee. 60 inches is a nice sized afghan. Glad that you only got a little snow and that it will all be melted before you have to head out in the car. Do you think you will get to that grocery store to straighten out the over charge from last week?
My stomach issues straightened out late last week…not sure why I am feeling crummy now, I hope it goes away
CJ- have you been in contact with the other real estate company? I guess listing the house through a realtor is not what you want to do, but I wonder if you can get closer to market value for the house. I reallly hope that this resolves quickly for you and that you get a fair value for the house.
Not too concerned about my husky. They are known to be workhorses,, and it’s not uncommon for a machine to need servicing. I think I will take it to Joanns Friday, when I can work it in with other errands.

Ginny ask as many questions as you like. The wider afghan is for my dd for her birthday. It's the one in burgundy and gold. The one for dh is also wider than the usual ones I make but it's with super bulky yarn so it goes faster in each row. I'm really happy with the way dd's afghan is turning out. I just hope it continues to do so.I tried to make the Christmas afghans wider but they still mostly turned out to be about lapghan width. Dh intends to spend his post op time in the recliner we have.It has an electric motor and is perfect for somone that is recovery from surgery. When I hurt my back at work years ago it was the only place I could sleep. So anyway his bulky lapghan will be perfect for covering with that
I'm sure the sewing machine company is good at backing their product. They have a good reputation.

Hello Ginny - Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well, I hope you feel better soon Ruth - I'm glad the snow didn't stick so you won't have any problems going out later this week I went to JoAnns today and bought two different colors of the Red Heart Granny Square yarn. I'll try both of them just to see how a granny square looks, but I think I'll use them just to make a small blanket instead of a bunch of granny squares. I also got the fabric cut for last week's Moda Blockheads block. The new block pattern for this week came out today, so I think I'll try to get those fabrics cut and then I can make both blocks at the same time. The house company is still negotiating with me on a price. I told them what I'd accept so if they aren't going to match that then they need to void my contract, and quit stringing me along. I want to move onto the next company. I went up to my house today and everything was alright there. Take care

Ruth. Sounds like you are making two well designed and perfect afghans, one for DD and the other for Dh. Think planning for Dh to use the recliner while he recovers is an excellent idea. The motorized feature of that will make it easier for him to get in and out, and hopefully he can adjust it to the best position for his comfort.
CJ- let us know what you think of the new yarn! I am tempted to buy some but won’t, got no plans to crochet anything other than finishing the afghan I am working on now. That is a great idea to get last weeks and this weeks blockhead blocks cut and sewn. Nice to be able to stay on top of that project. It would be nice if the house company communicated quickly with you now, It seems as though they have dragged this process out, which is tough on you. I hope that whatever or whomever buys the house that its a fair price and happens quickly.
I go to get my taxes done shortly. Got 2 more tricks up my sleeve regarding my husky.. Oh it would be nice if I could finish the quilt with that machine now.

Hello - Hope everyone is having a nice day. It's only in the 40s here today, but sunny and pretty isillyme - Welcome to the thread I hope you will keep stopping by and share what you are crafting with us. I've done a little bit of crochet, but mostly I make quilts - or quilt tops more than finishing an actual quilt Ginny - I hope your tax appointment goes well and that your 2 tricks for your machine work Ruth - Hope you are getting some crocheting done and that you get to go out tomorrow if you still need to I have the fabrics cut for both of the Moda Blockheads blocks, so I hope to get them pieced in the next few days. I also have my half square triangles ready to finish piecing the days for the February block of the Temperature quilt. I can't believe there are already two months gone in the year. Well, I had a big surprise yesterday afternoon. After going back and forth with the house buying company, they agreed on the original price we had set and everything is falling into place for the house sale to go through in March. I couldn't believe it - I was shocked! But I'm glad it came together and I don't have to go through all this with another company. Hopefully everything will work out in March and I can move on from my old house. Have a good day!
