Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be! We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

SHAPING UP FOR SPRING! February 11 - March 31
Spring is coming!
Supportive Friends Progress not Perfection Renewal of Being Inspiration New Habits Great Success!
This can be your Spring! This can be your success! No more rationalizing and making excuses.
This challenge isn't just about being alcohol free though it is the focus of the board. It is about finding and giving encouragement, getting healthy, loving ourselves, and finding what works and what doesn't. This is NOT about making ourselves feel badly about the unhealthy choices, it is about celebrating the healthy ones. So let's go for it!
As always, the rules aren't complicated. Simply no alcohol and staying on your food plan. If you get off track, don't give up....don't throw away the day, the night, the week. We are working on progress not perfection.
You may have alcohol issues that you cannot manage on your own and our group is here to support you and encourage you to get the help you might need. You may have alcohol issues that you can control but have to exert the motivation and our group is here to support you.
Spring clean your cupboard early! If you have junk food, tempting alcohol, or trigger foods in your kitchen, you are setting yourself up for failure. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is always going to happen. Don't make it easier for yourself to give in to it. Assess your kitchen, ask if this helps or hinders me. DO NOT have sentimental attachment to food or alcohol. The stuff will always be there, it does not magically disappeared but your health can be compromised! This is your life! Make it the best!
REMEMBERā¦. 1. Work the Plan and the Plan works! Think of your new eating plan as a lifestyle change -- one that will have ups and downs, with good days and (very few) bad.
2. Don't deprive yourself. A food plan should be about SATISFACTION. Find foods you LOVE that will help you meet your goal.
3. Drink lots of water. Water is good for you.
4. Listen to your body. It knows things. Pay close attention to your body cues.
5. Live one day (or even one MEAL) at a time. Don't be discouraged and beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon. Just get back on with lots of helping hands.
6. Get exercise with activities you enjoy. If you don't like what you are doing, then you won't stick with it.
7. Keep track of what you eat. Write it down. You WILL 100% without a doubt make better choices if you hold yourself accountable for them.

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit!
Yesterday morning DH & I went to Walmart in Acworth then on to Cauble Park to walk at the lake. There were lots of older kids at the park. Field trip? School holiday? The elementary school we passed was in session. Walmart had lots of flowering trees and more stuff in the garden center, including tomatoes, peppers, and other bedding plants that's it way too early to plant. I did pick up a nice dill plant for the kitchen garden and went a little nuts buying tubers- dahlias, gladiolus, seed potatoes. So hard to resist. We stopped at Publix on the way home for a few things and a prescription for DH. I had a quiet afternoon on the couch. I did do a workout video with weights. We had grilled salmon, sliced tomatoes and a salad for dinner. I went up to bath/bed at the usual time, finished a book, then had trouble falling asleep. So I got up, had a snack, started the next book in the series. I think I went back to bed around 3, so I'm dragging this morning.
It's raining and is supposed to rain all day. It's in the low 40's and I don't think it's going to get much warmer today.
Jan- Hope all those appointments make the time go quickly. The lettuce is in a pot in the east-facing kitchen window. I've tried growing it outside and on the screened porch without success. I may try one of those growing stations. He who shall not be mentioned certainly is demeaning.
Cindy- Yay for a fun day out and about with DS collecting freebies, even at JoAnn's. Glad DS had a nice birthday. The fluid sensor is in the attic. I apparently just picked the wrong Monday when I started the Stridekick weekday challenge. There's nothing to do about it now.
Carole- The new job definitely sounds like an upgrade. Sorry you have to get up earlier.
Cathy- Hope you had enjoyed your quiet week. Glad you have what you need. Hope you can host Rosalie for cards and/or go out for coffee and the American Women's Club plans something worth going into Beirut.

The sun is shining, going to be warmer today, maybe we really will just move into spring. Fingered crossed, but I know Mother Nature probably has other plans for us all. Slept over 8 1/2 hours last night, must have needed the catch up. I feel ready for work and it will be a good day. You must have thought I was crazy, I want to do 50 hours for my pay check which is over 2 weeks . I do know the boss and some others are working over 50 hours a WEEK there and thatās why they are so burned out. And weāre not even to the crunch time at the end of the month. I will probably go in on Sunday and work on some files, feeling guilty that I get to sort of come and go when I want. Plus Iāll miss Monday afternoon as my Dr appt is at 12:30 and I donāt plan to go back after. Al used to say, Donāt worry, it will all get done, Sure heās laughing down at us now! All we can do is keep at it. I feel like the same thing with my WW. Wrote in my journal today that the months goal is to really be a WW for the whole month. Track, stay OP and see what happens. I always track, but I know my portions are probably a bit wonky, so portions and actual measurements are where I will start. Even zero point foods. Guess Iād like to see what I can really do, also want to make my 90 and the 100 days AF. Goals!!! Dh has now been AF over a week, that I can remember the last time he had a beer, so each day Iām grateful for that. I donāt have a fantasy that itās forever but everyday helps him too, and we are of course saving the $$$. Guess I better get moving, will also try to get in an AP bar this morning before work, with sleeping later I already feel like Iām a bit behind on my morning routine. Just laid out all the fixings to make up my lunch. Have planned for my 2 GS cookies, making a big salad with chicken and eggs with refried beans for breakfast. Need to start getting in the more protein less carbs too. Have a great day all, looking forward to what the month will bring. Just saw the cutest story on Facebook where the GF showed the 2 of them out last night and there was a Happy 4 year Anniversary written on the table where they were. They seem strong together and she is patient with DS timeline. Someday I anticipate a wedding but Iām not the one in charge. I would be in charge of fitting into some outfit, so I can work on that ha ha. Check in later. Jan Cindy. Sounds like a fun day. Glad the GF was told not to come over and you two got to enjoy the meal and time together. Cute they even gave him a treat at Joanne's. I asked DS about the "anniversary" photo because there was alson one at their place that said one year. Yep, their date is February 29th. I told him not to make her wait until their 2nd anniversary to pop the question. I'm sure I'll be on the "no call" list for a few days after throwing that out ther ha ha Amy Love the quote of the day, the TOTD is exactly how I feel about a new month and LOl over He who shall not be named. You have made my day. Sounds like you have quite the farm/garden going already and I hope your lettuce likes its new home. A bit crazy putting out the summer veggies, but I suppose some folks have green houses or somewhere to keep them safe. I started a new Jennifer Weiner book, Mrs. Everything. Just getting started but I think I will like it. yay for a lot of steps. Enjoy your Friday. I'm sure the day will go quickly for me today. Cathy Hope Rosalie can come over for a visit and some cards. yay for better internet, even if it's not perfect yet. You always have such a good attitude. Waving hi to all. Need to run.

Hi girls! This is the never ending birthday! I just got back from lunch with DS and Jack and Addi. I had a grilled chicken salad that was delicious! Yesterday after the Y I stopped at Pennyās and found 3 pairs of slacks that fit and donāt even need shortened! And they were in a smaller size! The pool is making a difference! So yes, that made it EASY to be OP yesterday! š Tonight Iām having the other half of my chicken parm from Weds. My doctor appointment went well. She said Iām still in the moderate category of blockage, at 69. 70 is the start of high. She actually acted surprised that I was getting checked each year. But when I asked if I could stop coming yearly, she said no. It was better to keep an eye on it.
Cindy: It sounds like a fun birthday! Iām glad your dinner turned out so well! Iām also glad the g/f asked and didnāt just show up!
Amy: I will always think of you at the beginning of the month with rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! I think we all will! When you had a PayPal account, does it have to be tied to your bank account? How would you receive your money? DH wants to sell some stuff.
Jan: 50 hours over 2 weeks sounds much better! Yay for DH being 1 week AF! Not only was I OP yesterday, I even had a rollover! I was surprised too! š
Carole: Your new job definitely sounds better. If you get picked for the other job, could you still take it?

Hi all. Way long day today, didn't leave until almost 4:30 and still had to go to the store. Dh just wanted a salad for dinner and I'd had one for lunch so I just grazed a bit. I wanted to just eat about 10 desserts but I had 1/2 bagel and then the inside of the pie, threw the crust away and that satisfied me. Now to close the kitchen and tell myself I'm full. I'm having some tea and just sitting on the couch. It was a crazy day, even had a guy ask if I could sign a return as his wife as they are estranged and she's out of state. Yikes. Nope, not really interested in going to jail. So glad to have tomorrow off to go snoop some vintage stores, maybe do some shopping and just enjoy the sunshine outside. Hope you all had a great first day of March. Enjoy your evening. Jan Vicki Sounds like another fun get together. Good for you having the chicken salad, that's what I had for lunch today. It tasted so good, haven't had greens for awhile as don't enjoy salad as much when it's so cold out. Keep checking in with the Dr, sounds like you are doing the right thing to stay steady. Glad you found some pant that fit. I haven't bought clothes in forever. Carole Hope you like the new job better and yay for not having to do dishes Enjoy your weekend See you all in the morning.
