Hello Ruth - That is a nice idea to use your good dishes. I'm bad at saving my nice things and not using them, and I really should be enjoying them. Sounds like you have been very busy organizing and decluttering things in your house, hope you keep making progress. Ginny - Hope the babysitting went well and I'm glad you found a good method to make multiple HSTs, hope you like it when you try it. Since I'm so close to selling my house I don't want to try anything like turning off the water. Just my luck it will cause some big problem They'll probably cut off the water to the house after the sale anyway. isillyme - Glad you could get some weeding done in your garden and that you were happy with the Tunisian crochet swatch you made. Sounds like you are doing well with WW, hope you have great success on it. It's been a bit milder here. We had rain yesterday, but today is nice - partly sunny and in the 60s I've been busy with other things so I haven't gotten back to my quilting yet. I'm hoping I can get the star blocks I have to make done this weekend, and also get the Moda Blockheads block made. It's a pretty easy one this week: modafabrics.com/inspiration-resources/bh5-group-2-block-10-alexia-abeggTake care

Gee CJ, that is a really adorable block for this week! Yes easy enough to make but uses up a ton of different fabrics. Have fun with that…. I am sure your block will turn out just great.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, I never know why you make an appointment and you leave the office 2 hours later. It was a beautiul day yesterday. but there was no time to do any gardening. I went to walmart yesterday. to get food for the week. I must have looked rather odd using my phone while I was looking at the point values for every food item I was buying. I broke down an bought an air fryer, I decided to use up the cod that I had, added a scant of flour, and made a crispy cod, no oil and it was so good. I paired that up with broccoli and I was really full.
I did receive steps yesterday, it had a lot to do with my pup. He is a Houdini by escaping my yard everytime and he broke his collar while, I tied him up for a bit for some fresh air. At least I can honestly say this pup likes to run and he looks at me like he did nothing wrong.
It is suppose to rain for the next couple of days, no gardening however, I just may jump in the puddles out of spite. Happy Friday all

Yes doctor appointments give us a lot of time to crochet.I hope your visit was a routine visit and not that you were sick. Your pup sounds like he's very energetic. You could get lots of steps in chasing him around.I have an air fryer and in fact have two. Our first one was the well type then we saw a good deal on one that has a door and trays so we got it. The well type is harder to use and you can't adjust to have the food closer to the heating element. I make a lot of biscuits in mine and dh makes fries. We haven't tried it for meat or fish yet. It doesn't function like the Emeril Lagasse one they show on tv.Supposedly you can make rotisserie chicken in it but I am leary about that because I would think that the fat in the chicken skin would splatter around and catch fire. Even if it didn't it would still make a mess
Well I did get out one of the baby blankets that I made several years ago but never got to the border. I have one round of border nearly done now. In the evening I worked on the blanket for dd's birthday gift. I have a lot to get done on that one but her birthday is over a month away
CJ, I don't think that I mentioned that the square you shared the link for is very nice. I would never have thought of putting all those colors together which is one reason I'm not a quilter. When is the closing on your house? That will be a nostalgic time for you.

Hello - Hope everyone is having a nice day It was much milder here today and sunny. I'm seeing some trees starting to bud and bloom. isillyme - Hope you enjoy the air fryer. I don't have one but most people who do say they really enjoy using it. Sounds like your cod was good Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get that border on the baby blanket. The closing is coming up, I'll be relieved when I don't have to worry about the house anymore. Ginny - Hope you had a good day. Those Moda designers really mix fabrics together well. I enjoy seeing their versions each week, even though I probably wouldn't make a block with those combinations. I went to the Amish Market today with my cousin. We hadn't been there since before covid so it was nice to go again. There were a lot of people there, it's a really popular place. I bought some treats and also a pretzel wrapped around a hot dog with american cheese, it was very good. I had hoped to get some maple fudge and they had it, so I hope it's good. It's really difficult to find maple fudge without any nuts in it and they do sell it without nuts at this market. I'm hoping to get back to my quilting this weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend

CJ!!! So glad you got to an Amish market…gosh it’s been such a long time since you have been to one. The pretzel wrapped around a hot dog sounds really good. How was the maple fudge ? Regarding the moda block, I view it as just being quintessential scrappy a blast of different colors and prints that really do not go together but make for a pretty look.Glad you are seeing some signs of spring. My trees are not blooming yet, but it’s probably only a few weeks away.
Ruth, nice progress on getting the border on the baby afghan. How many rounds of border do you think you will add? Good that you have another project to work on to alternate from working on DD’s afghan. It is challenging if you are only working on one project and get bored with it. Is Dh’s afghan done?
Sillyme, I have an air fryer (in my stove) and I do not use it all that often, but love it when I do. I make my own chicken nuggets that turn out great. DS has made fried pickles, french fries and a bunch of other things…. I use my WW app frequently in the store when trying to make better decisions. Your dog sounds like the perfect pet to get activity points or steps in!!! If the weather is not cooperative there are walk at home videos on youtube, to keep yourself active.
Crazy day of babysitting. Had the 2 little cousins together this morning and they are so funny together. Think I am going to crochet for awhile…I miss my sewing machine which I hope I will get back in a week

CJ, I'm glad you got to the Amish market. I remember how much you liked going there with your family before the pandemic. I hope you really enjoy the treats you bought. My dh would love the maple fudge. I'm more of a chocolate fudge person. You haven't mentioned it so I guess you haven't tried the Granny square yarn yet. Let us know how it works for you
Ginny I know those little boys bring a lot of joy to your life. What a blessing it is to have grandchildren you can play with or watch as they play.I'm going to have to go to dd's house soon so that I can see my little great grand girls. I haven't seen them in awhile but heard the are spending a lot of time with their grandma and grandpa (my dd and her dh of course) I'd love to see my oldest grandson's little boy again soon too. He's 7 and is just so cute. The girls are 4 and 6. When the 6 year old was younger she always looked at me like I was some kind of scary monster but now that she's older she will be just happy that I brought them gifts. My dgd #2 has a son that's also 7 but everytime I've seen him he's been whiney.Maybe he's different now. I haven't seen him for a couple years.
Ginny,no my dh's blanket isn't finished yet but from that you can probably figure that I'm not really anxious to do it right now. I will get it done though by the time he has his surgery. On the baby blanket I'm working on the border for i'm almost finished with the second row and have one more row to go. The I'll rummage through the bin of unfinished blankets and pick the next one to finish. At least two of them are knitted so I'm going to rip those out and use the yarn for a different baby blanket. I kind of like knitting but it takes too much time. And for the next couple days I think I'll make earwarmers for the girls in Indiana because dh wants to send another box and I have some things I want to send the boys and don't want to leave the girls out.

Good morning, Ruth, I kind of figured that you would get to finish Dh’s afghan…because it does not have to be mailed you can keep making it right up to the last minute. How are you doing reorganizing the house in preparation for DH’s procedure? It’s just like you, so thoughtful; that you would also make some ear warmers for the girls in Indiana! Do you have an easy pattern for ear warmers? I hope that you can get to see those grandkids who live sort of close by. I know parenting is a very busy job, and it’s hard to get to see everyone…the little ones grow so fast. Hard to believe that your newest GGD is approaching 6-7 months now! Has your DDIL sent any recent pictures of her ?
I did locate my embroidery kit (which I put away while I was cleaning the other day) Yes, I hope to get that started soon. This am I am babysitting DGS#3 and his little sister for awhile. My mom hard to believe that she is gone 8 years) had made a beautiful knitted baby sweater in white, which DGD#3 will be wearing when she is baptized in a month or so. I did just put the sweater out to give to DD. I did get a little bit of crocheting in last night.
Better get fully dressed and ready. Think I hav little ones coming here soon.

Happy Saturday: my plan for the day is to stay inside, its raining once again today but I really don't mind the rain. It kills the pollen count that is on going in Georgia. The airfryer was under 25 bucks which is why i broke down to use it, but after trying it out... I am glad I did. My pup can be very frustrating, he escapes all of the time. I am looking at fencing ideas as we speak. the cod was really good, and now that I have a way to cook it, I will have it more often. I had Covid in January, and I was developing some chest pains, which is why my appointment took longer, there is some issues past covd related, that I have been experiencing.
I made some popcorn last night. Between dog number 1 and dog number 2 along with myself was having a popcorn festival. Not sure who ate the most, but it was a positive bonding moment all the same. The pup is a rescue the shelter was euthanizing animals due to space and we rescued him, before his number was up.
Isn't it amazing how the couch loves to eat your working tools. My couch loves my crochet hooks.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are having a good day Ginny - I'm glad the cousins enjoy being together How nice that your DGD will be wearing that sweater your mother made when she is baptized. I'm glad you found your embroidery kit and I hope you get your sewing machine back soon. isillyme - I hope the doctor can help you with those covid related issues. I hope you enjoy a nice day inside out of the rain. Sounds like you have two great dogs and I'm sure they enjoyed that popcorn Ruth - It's nice that you can finish some of those blankets you had started and I'm sure the kids will enjoy the earwarmers. I like chocolate fudge too and used to make it at least once a year. I used the Fantasy Fudge recipe with Kraft Marshmallow Cream. I like that so much it spoiled me from liking other chocolate fudge. I had tried making one of those granny squares but wasn't able to read the directions well. So I found a good blog where the lady made a video of her making one block and I made one from that (picture attached). She did have some good tips in her video (scroll down to a little past halfway down the page for the video that is 16 minutes long): daisyfarmcrafts.com/red-heart-granny-all-in-one-square-revolutionary-new-yarn/You can see that my thread colors didn't always start in the same place and excuse my crooked square - I'm not the best at crocheting I should have redone that center though since that dark blue stands out where it started early. I don't think I'd make a bunch of these, I'll just use the yarn for a blanket or afghan. I cut the fabrics for my weekly Moda block and hope to get it done today or at least by tomorrow. I still have a few blocks to finish for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this month. Take care

Hello everyone. CJ, I see what you mean about the granny square. It doesn't look crooked to me but yes the dark blue didn't work as it's supposed to. As far as the crookedness goes, many people in the crochet groups I belong to on FB say that to keep a granny from being crooked you need to turn at the end of each round. I've never turned. I've made several baby sweaters that used granny square and one that was all grannies and I never turned. I didn't notice them being crooked but they were small squares. Sillyme, I guess that's a problem having dogs and it's raining. Do they mind going out in the rain? Popcorn sounds good and it's actually pretty healthy snack. Ginny, Yes my youngest granddaughter will be 6 months old in two days. Ds and ddil send a lot of pictures and have sent a video. And her older sister sent some pictures also.Well one of her older sisters...she has 5 sisters and 3 brothers.I'm glad you found your embroidery kit and it's great that your dgd will wear a sweater that your mother knitted. My mother never did any crafts. Her hobby was crossword puzzles. Her mother, my grandmother of course, did sewing and embroidery. To answer your question I think the house now is organized for dh for after his surgery but this coming week we will be installing a new toilet and maybe two. I tried to get dh to have our grandsons come over and help but he's not doing that Oldest grandson just moved back here from Montana so the two of them could definitely move the new toilets to the bathrooms and take away the old ones.We also want to get some protein drinks for him as they say that after the surgery you will have problems swollowing So far today my only crafting has been sitting here beside the baby blanket who's border I'm still working on

Good afternoon, actually good evening!
Silly me, Yes, I have heard that pollen counts in the south are insane…which does not make me happy at all as that means the high pollen counts (tree pollen) are heading my way too!!! Hope you can find some fencing that works for your pop corn eaters…. I live with 2 feline graduates from the animal shelter….and have great respect for those who adopt from shelters. Hope that you can find effective treatment for whatever residual symptoms you have from covid. My daughter has really suffered from residual covid effects.
CJ- love the colors scheme you picked from the new granny square yarn!! The video I saw had the crocheter try 4 or 5 times to get it right. Your square looks pretty good! I look forward to seeing what else you do with the yarn…congrats on getting the fabrics cut for this weeks Moda block.
Ruth, great idea getting some protein drinks in for Dh…and I hope you are able to find flavors that he likes. Glad the house is pretty much set up for him to make it easier after his procedure. Bless you…you are going to install 2 toilets this week! You must have super human strength, they are very heavy. Hope you do not hurt your self. OH my, DGD is 6 months old already ( or almost). Wow time sure does fly. I do not turn when I make granny squares, and have not had trouble making sure they are square. But no one ever said I was normal…ha ha ha.
My mom knit, crocheted, sewed and did some cross stitch and crewel. She was quite an inspiration to me regarding crafting….BUT she was an awful housekeeper! She would much rather craft than clean and the house sure did show that. Off to crochet a bit….and I will be working on some embroidery this week I think until my machine comes home.
See you in the morning!

Ginny, I don't do all the crafts your mother did but I'm sure like her thinking and acting like crafting is a better idea than cleaning the house. I did force myself to wash the bathroom floor today. Now I just have to do the other bathroom tomorrow.I don't want anyone down there putting toilet bolts on while kneeling on a dirty floor. Of course I'll have to do it again after the toilets are done. I think that embroidery is a good thing for you to do while waiting for your sewing machine to come back. Sillyme,I meant to mention that I hope your lingering symptoms resulting from covid go away soon. I was very fortunate to not contact covid but I did stay home and not visit with anyone while the worst of the covid was going on.My daughter's and my son's families both have had covid more than once. Even my youngest great grandson who was only 3 months old at the time had covid. I was praying intensely then for sure CJ, I hope you had a good Sunday See you all tomorrow in the new week...I can't believe another week went by so fast
