Good morning 37, cloudy after a much-needed rain fall, going to just 47.
Robin, you could be right about DGS's DGF, eventually opening up, as when they weren't in ear shot, I asked my DD, and DSIL if she is shy and DSIL said, oh yes, just the other day, she finally looked at me, when I was talking to her!!!! DGS is not shy, imagine him working at Margarita's, so you know he has to be somewhat outgoing at least. I agree with everyone else about the "little black dress". High heels too? Is your kitchen back to normal now?
Marsha, in my day of wearing sports bra was always a fight to find a comfortable one, and one that you didn't have to fight it to get off when you were all sweaty and wanting to get in the shower, after your workout. Shopko was where I would get mine, so that really dates me, for when I was buying them. Now if I would go to the Y, I have an older, regular bra I would wear. No on the WW app, got rid of it when I finished my time that I signed up for with them. The seasonings in the soup recipe are what taco seasoning is.
Gareth, glad we did not get up to 80, then for sure I would have uncovered the a/c! We were in extreme drought conditions last year. Not sure what it is this year, yet. I hope the weather is nice for your get together with family this weekend.
Carol, you reminded me that I need to wash the patio doors. Thanks, I think, lol! Nice that your DH does the windows. Sorry you are being bombarded by those political ads. I don't think it is that bad yet, here. I am sure maybe by summer we will have the same problem. The musical DGD is in is Seussical the Musical. I wish you were on our page on FB, I could post a picture of her in dress rehearsal the other day. You got me thinking, when you said so many desserts are so rich these days, that I bet my tastes have changed since the last time I made those bars. It has been many years, and I am sure I enjoyed it very much back then, but the other night it actually kind of turned me off by the sweetness and richness, it was just overwhelming.
Anngie, lol, I totally agree with your statement about rich desserts, as you can see from my reply to Carol about it. I too like foods with a bit of spice, but my acid reflux as to always be considered. I just left the soup alone, figuring at least I would not pay later by having to munch on some tums. It is fine, plus I add a bit of sour cream and a little nacho/taco cheese. Good question about nylons/pantyhose, I have a feeling they are rarely worn. I know a page I follow on IG always says this person or that person could have worn colored pantyhose/tights but otherwise they go bare.

I will wear heels to the wedding, but not what I did last year for my DGF's son's wedding. I had a very good pair of silk pumps. When I put them on in the house, they were really comfortable. We parked in a garage about 2 blocks from the wedding venue, (unlike what they sometimes read in books, no one in Manhattan has valet parking), I was rushing across the street and having a really hard time walking in them that fast, as they were at least 3 inch heels. Then I thought about it, I bought them for DS1's bar mitzvah, which was 25 years ago. I certainly can't walk at 70 like I could at 45. I have lower black leather pumps, so will probably wear those. I don't care if the style is not to wear pantyhose. There is no way I am going out without pantyhose.
Karen, post that picture on our Facebook page anyway. I can't remember if I took my DS's to see Seussical the Musical when they were young. I am guessing if I didn't it's because it wasn't out then. When they were young, I took them to our high school production of Fiddler on the Roof, they loved it, and thought that the kid who played the lead was better than the famous actor who played the same role that we had taken them to see at one of our local professional theaters. I hope they are encouraging parents to bring their kids in the younger grades to see this.
Carol, I don't watch so much TV, but as you know we recently had a very highly publicized election, and what I did get were tons of mailings. They used these large format postcards, and the way they were designed, if you didn't read them closely, you didn't know who's was who's. I am just so happy with the results, and to know that Suozzi got his seniority back. Now let's just hope he wins again in November.
Anngie, I have a diamond necklace from my DMIL that has maybe 50 diamonds in it. I was joking with my girlfriends last night when I was asking if they thought it was OK to wear a short dress for black tie, that I would wear "the necklace" and no one would notice the dress, and they all agreed. My DMIL gave it to me as a gift years before she died, and I wear it any time I have something very dressy and an open neckline dress. the very funny thing is that when we were at one of these friend's son's wedding she sat a friend we don't know at our table, who came with her significant other. He actually asked me about the necklace, and if it was real. He was, in general, pretty obnoxious. He's apparently a very well know plastic surgeon. A year or 2 later I found out that he donated $1 million to our local art museum. I said that he can be that obnoxious all he wants if he is going to donate that much money.
We have rain here too, but it's 43, and may get up to 50. I started reading The Women yesterday, so far very good. I didn't read that much because I played mah jongg. I didn't spend time making dinner because DH didn't feel like a regular dinner. I had bought a Cheese Calzone at Aldi, and heated that up for him. He liked it, so we are doing pretty good with Aldi's. Of course I am going through the bags of cheese puffs I bought there. A serving size is a lot, and they cost me a lot less than Pirate Booty, which they are very similar to. They were on sale, but I am sure still much cheaper. That is what I find these places are very good for me with, snack foods. I am much happier paying $2.49 for some kind of dip than I am paying $4.49.

I went to the Y this morning - 20 minutes on the treadmill, then the resistance equipment. Feeling the mental boost from having that out of the way.
Dinner last night was the leftover chicken that I made on Saturday when dh decided he would eat spaghetti instead. No leftovers in the fridge now so I will have to cook something tonight. I'm thinking quesadillas. I do have a menu but I didn't check to see what we are supposed to be eating tonight.

Karen, maybe DGS's DGF is a little overwhelmed by your family from what you've said about your family being boisterous. Looking like it could be a little iffy for our weekend's get together. Sounding now like DGD has pink eye.
Robin, I'd die now trying to wear the spike heels that I used to wear and run all over in. I can't wear much of a heel anymore. Now I go for comfort in my old age!
Marsha, quesadillas is something I love. DH not so much so I've never made them. Do you use a quesadilla maker?
We've been toying with the idea of getting rid of DH's car. Do we really need two cars now that we're both retired? The only time we'd need two cars if we had an appointment at the same time. We'd just have to make sure we didn't schedule appointments at the same time which I think I'd be better at doing than DH. Why have the expense with two cars with insurance and upkeep. Both cars need new tires. Would we sell his car or would maybe DGD would want it since she doesn't have her own? Lot to think about.

Gareth - no, I don't have a quesadilla maker. I make a WW recipe that involves preparing the filling (vegetarian) then putting the filling on a tortilla, adding shredded cheese, another tortilla, and bake. Easy, fast, and good. We serve with guacamole, maybe sour cream if we have it, salsa. Now I'm hungry for dinner! My parents only had one car. My dad had a company car when he was working but he never used it for personal. When he retired, they had one car to share. I don't know how that worked out before my mother retired. I never really thought about it before.

Karen, I think DGS’s GF will become more relaxed as time goes on. But even still, she’ll probably always be the quieter one of the two - that’s why they say opposites attract!
Robin, right, never look a gift horse in the mouth if they make a $1 million dollar donation like that! I still like Aldi’s even though their prices have increased a little - but still quite a bit cheaper than other stores, snacks being one of the items. I think your necklace will be quite the statement piece!
Has anyone noticed their Facebook (and others) have been down? Funny, but I have Facebook but DH does not. It was on the news that it could be worldwide.
Marsha, good that you went to the Y today. I certainly give you all the credit for getting up and out and then on to work!
Gareth, I understand your thought process of scaling down to one car, but I’d think that one through! I know that we could never, ever have just one car. But to be honest, I want a car in the garage at my disposal at all times! And so does DH.

I can't imagine going to a fancy wedding, dressing up and not wearing pantyhose. I know most women don't wear them anymore but I don't think bare legs are a good look. I read where Queen Elizabeth required the women in the royal family to wear pantyhose and also, women who were being presented to her. Anyway, the article said more women may start wearing them since Kate and Meaghan would wear them. I don't think that happened. I have a couple of pair. They are very sheer and I think someone would really have to look to notice them. The only heels I have are not very high at all. In fact, they barely qualify as heels.
I hardly ever buy cheese puffs because I could eat the whole bag. DGS loves them so we always have them when we visit. Saturday I had DD put the bag where I couldn't see it.
Robin, really tacky of someone to ask you if the diamonds in your necklace were real.
My mom never learned to drive so we always had only one car. I don't really know why she never learned. FIL always had a company car so they just one they owned. After he retired, they got another and always had 2 until he gave up driving and got rid of the oldest car.

Marsha, good for you getting out to exercise! I think I might get as far as joining the gym, which is free anyway because my medicare supplement will pay for it. Of course I better check that. I know I would not want to get up early to go, and won't go after work, so not sure why it would make sense.
Gareth, I can more or less understand why you might think cutting down to 1 car makes sense. It seems like you do a lot of things together, except for appointments if they overlap. Maybe if you gave it to your DGD, you could say that if there is ever a time that you really need it, you could borrow hers. Not that you want it will strings attached, but I think you know what I mean. My DH's biggest outing other than to work is going to Home Depot, and of course doctor's appointments. I don't think we would go down to 1 car now, but ask me again in 10 years.
Anngie, I think that's the thing also, maybe later on you might decide the same thing. As far as Facebook goes, it works on my phone, but in the office, it is asking me to put in my password, and nothing seems to work. It was always in automatically and I never had to log in. I thought that was really strange, but now that you are saying it, maybe it has something to do with that.
Carol, yes, very tacky. At the time, my friend was going out with someone else, not who she married. After the wedding I asked her what he thought of this guy, because I knew they had gone out for dinner as couples. She said to me, "everyone thinks he's an A$$". But as I said, giving that much money, plus he is always loaning them things for exhibits from his own collection. These cheese puffs are not like Cheese Doodles, which I thought were a lot more calories, but maybe not all of them. I thought Pirate Booty had gone national. They were originally a company from Long Island, but they were bought out by some large national company, but maybe you just have never noticed.

I have not been able to get into Facebook either. I got in early this morning but at some point it kicked me out. I read where it's a nationwide Meta outage and they don't know why yet. Robin I'm surprised you can get in on your phone. I hope they don't make us sign back in when they get it working. I'm not sure I still have my login information.
