Good morning!
A chilly morning (38 degrees) but I am home! Get this -- the drive to SF took 2 hrs 20 min, the drive home took 3 hrs 40 min!!! I can't imagine that drive for commuters (and there are plenty of them). There were two of us in the car, but the carpool requirements in the Bay area is 3 travelers so we had to use regular lanes. I got home a little after 7:00 pm and was DONE. I didn't even go down to run with the group this morning....I just needed the down time. Tons of meetings today ending at 5:30 pm so I am glad to have this time today to read here and have a "normal" day.
Carole: Thanks for getting us going again....and I admit to kind of laughing about the power outage and schools delaying starts. We are the "queen" of power outages in CA (due to fires, etc.) even in the winter since most of our power lines are above ground. I don't think schools close unless they know it will be out for at least 3 hours. We are total wimps about everything else though, LOL. I am so glad that Tracy is feeling better and is being sprung from the hospital. We know that you are relieved too--that must weigh on you every time. I am loving hearing about the kitchen....we chose granite (but there are so many more options now!) and we also set our fridge back a bit into the wall so that it was counter depth. It has been great and glad that we did it. It sounds like you might have some choices to make about part time work? If I were you, I would decide on my limits right now and let them know (ie. no Mondays or Fridays, etc.) Already they are talking to me about consulting and I have told them that I not committing to anything at least for the month of July since I have to make myself get "used to" not working. My mom keeps reminding me that I have been working since I was 16 (actually 15 1/2--- I remember my parents had to drive me to work at the restaurant each afternoon after sports practice). Other than taking my 10 weeks off to be with my babies, I have always worked--we have to train ourselves to not work. I LOVE that you have options though--it sounds like a win-win! Yay for the cpap and the monitoring as well. I really do look forward to hearing how you feel getting more consistent sleep. Finally it seems like all of these good things are coming together for you! Enjoy your Eden time today!

Christine: It sounds like the Fulton trip was a success! They seem to have a good system for getting the kids in for testing (most of the time)---so glad that all 9 are finished. Now to get those reports done! Hey, did you select a venue for the shower? I am hoping that has been settled for you. And good for you committing to your TM time again! We always appreciate any time that you can check in...it is good to hear how things are going.
Sue: LOL, I see that you have your Aquafor on hand. Yes, the surgeon said that there were a lot of "fancy" lotions out there but his patients still had the best outcomes from Aquafor so I always have it on hand for whatever. It sounds like you are healing well? Good to hear. WOW to Colton making the varsity team! That will be so fun to see him play. They play in the Spring, right? I wonder what he will do in the fall for training? They used to suggest the boys do wrestling for strength training when I was at the high school. So glad that you can fit in your pool time tomorrow and that you are noticing that you feel better/stronger because of it. I notice that my posture changes (I don't slouch when I sit as much, etc.) The show I was talking about is called Elsbeth. It isn't EXACTLY like Monk, but reminds me of it. I just love her personality and loved it on the Good Wife too. I hope you like it. Oh, retirement. I had my bit appointment (one-on-one) to review the 13 pages of retirement choices and then I just received the final estimates of my monthly options (after the salary increase for 7/1/23 that was just completed in January 2024) so now I go in and officially sign the paperwork. DH and are are deciding on which option if he outlives me ---what percent of my retirement he would receive for the rest of his life. That is the final decision. I am going to go to the office in Sacramento (closest office) to sign the paperwork rather than doing it by mail. It is a BIG deal to me and I want to have a person there in case I have a question. Yes, 10 years since my diagnosis! It was on April 1, 2014 and my appointment is on April 1, 2024 (coincidence). My thyroidectomy was on 5/1/14. This is a big year. Oh, I am SO sad for Sarah's coworker losing her son that way! I can not imagine the grief. Thinking about our dear Carole today.....

Good Morning - I have to keep looking at the calendar - it IS Thursday (already) right??
Jenny: How fun for Audrey!! Yikes that is cold - hope it warms up before your rains come in this weekend. YAY for you using your walking mat, keep it up! Unfortunately, Tracy is home without having any more answers. Now I need to keep on her about getting a 2nd opinion from a different pulmonologist. LOL Yeah, thinking about part time/WFH for the bank. We'll see. Since I didn't wait for "full" retirement, I can only earn so much before my SS gets taxed, so I need to be mindful of what I do.
Sue: Yep, you will be glad you went to swim, even though it had to be tough to think about going.
Christine: Glad you are home, and hope you indeed did take the night to unwind. Yes, getting back to the TM before starting the extra work will feel good! Hmm, Quartz is what the contractor recommends too.
Sue: Aww, sorry the call to the PA changed your swim plan. But oh well, today IS another day! Ugh, I cannot drag 6 different bags/containers out each day - then weigh and measure everything - then out it all away again! That's why yesterday was a disaster for my tracker!

Sorry, it didn't post as a "link" but those are the boxes I got.
Yeah, we are in for heavy rains today, River flood warnings, just a crappy day! Tomorrow though UP to 50 and FULL sunshine!! Yes, Sunday turned out to be a good day.
Congrats to Colton! Huge accomplishment!! Oh I do hope you can get to a game, and let Josh see you are still connected to Colton ♥
Our island is 4X6, so we can take some off of 2 sides, same reason, more walking room when people are sitting/standing at it. Tracy definitely does NOT want to be "that" patient. She hates to have to ring (bother) nurses to go to the bathroom, so she doesn't drink enough. She lets herself get dehydrated, which (IMHO) is why she gets lightheaded/dizzy/headache, etc. Truth be told, the alcohol has gotten to be such a habit, I don't even think twice about pouring/mixing one! I started finding myself actually dumping OUT the last of the drink, really didn't WANT it! I did finish the bottle of wine yesterday after I got Tracy home and knew she was settled in. I took her food, because she had nothing, since being in the hospital for 7 days! I have not bought any alcohol, in a while, except for "vacation"! LOL It's all good. Apparently one of the supplements I am taking, decreases the alcohol "cravings", in addition to the hormone balancing! WHO KNEW?? I didn't! LOL No, didn't make shepherd's pie. Ended up taking the last of the leftovers to Tracy! She was going into work last night, and didn't have a "dinner" planned - so I took her one! I also had made pea soup, so took her some of that. Today I will hit the grocery store to grab her some fresh fruit. She did work last night 11P-7A, and has to go back at 3P today. I told her to go home and go to bed, I'd get her fruit and put it in her fridge. I'm picking Eden up anyway, so it's not out of my way, really. Oh I usually just make a pan for 4, so we have it 2 nights. I have frozen it, and didn't think it was bad.
Oh My... yeah Tonya's diet sounds awful! OYE VEY!
Thanks, yes... When she was leaving she found out she can request a high protein diet while in the hospital. They no longer give you many options (on paper) so she was mixed up about what she could have. They come around and say tomorrow's dinner is...... and she'd say OK. What they didn't tell her was they have a LOT more choices - not just the "special" of the day! I liked the good old days, when we had to check the boxes of what we wanted for the next meal! Progress, isn't always a good thing!
OK Time to sign off. Head to the grocery store, grab Eden, drop stuff at Tracy's then get back home. Will CBL ♥hugs♥

Jenny: Yay for wrapping up the OT and for getting that great use of your mat! How fun for Audrey to be able to go to Ogden. I loved how, when you drive through UT, you see that the towns are there off of the roads, each seemed to have a church (probably Mormon) that had a steeple and just made the towns look so welcoming....I hope that she can see the mountains from the valley there too. It really is beautiful. Hoping that you are feeling good and enjoying the "normal" days again!
Hello to Jo and Karen. Time for me to get moving and get to the office a little early. Have a good day and I will try to pop in later.
