finreporter, I will be following this to see how you like it. I looked at some of their sample meal plans online today and it looked a little low calorie to me, but I really liked the food plans. I wonder what the daily calorie count is.

It definitely does look a little strict and lower calorie for the first phase but I’m optimistic that I’ll be able to follow it since it is so similar to the plan I followed over the summer. I’ll report back how I do on it and if I like it or not. I’m just going to ride out my 3 month subscription and then call it at that point.

finreporter , I will be following this to see how you like it. I looked at some of their sample meal plans online today and it looked a little low calorie to me, but I really liked the food plans. I wonder what the daily calorie count is. You choose your calorie goal. Mine is 1200. The first two week of Lose it is a little stricter, basically no sugar, alcohol or eating in a restaurant. Snacks are only fruit and veggies. The tracker shows your choices in food exchanges and in Nutritional value and calories are shown. I have had no problem meeting my calorie goal. After the two weeks you can be more flexible. Menu choices are the same, but you add in healthy food to meet the exchanges and NI. I will most likely eat less fruit then. You can follow the menu exactly, you can swap out meals and ingredients and you can freestyle using your own recipes. The goal is healthy eating and adopting better habits. The website has lots of info and webinars. You can purchase the book on Amazon to see all the plans etc. You can also change plans. I will switch between the Simple plan and the high protein plan. Right now In am using Mayo recipes and they are delicious. I have entered many of my own recipes in their recipe finder and adjust as needed to be healthier. You can join for a month to check it out. I choose the year plan.

Josie - thanks for sharing this great description of the Mayo Clinic diet. I had tried it many years ago, when it was only a book, and the tracker - on paper - only recorded exchanges. I liked the health-focused aspects of the diet, but I found the exchanges difficult to use. I used exchanges many years ago on WW and it was such progress for ease in tracking when Points came out. It's good to see that you can now track with exchanges as well as with calories and nutritional values.
One question - for the nutritional value - does it give just macro nutrients - protein, carbohydrates, fats - or does it give micro nutrients as well - like fiber, specifically saturated fats, calcium, for example.
Thanks.

susan092907, It tells calories, total fat, Sat fat, cholesterol, sodium, total carbs, fiber, total sugar, added sugar protein. This is available for every item you track. For the entire meal it will give you all the exchanges and the calories, protein, fat, carbs, fiber and sodium for entire meal. Exchanges are shown in a colorful chart that adjusts as you add to take away food. I did Weight Watchers exchanges also and this is easier and I think very accurate . I find the tracking very easy( after some practice!)

I agree the recipes look great. I make my own substitutions here and there but it’s not anything wildly off nutrition wise.
