This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph.
Carole: 1.) Greatly decrease alcohol 2.) Track daily, being mindful of my macros 3.) Make movement a daily habit 4.) Be thankful each and every day ♥ 5.) Organize the house and photos
Karen: 1) Count my blessings each day in my planner 2.) Track my food daily on the Noom app 3.) Continue to conquer the areas of my home that need special love 4.) Intentionally Move More
Sue: 1.) Continue to be positive and thankful daily...even if it's hard to find anything good!! It's out there...♥♥♥ 2.) 2024 will be a year of changes and challenges as retirement approaches for the two of us...while exciting to approach that new chapter, it's a bit scary venturing into the unknown!! This is a time to get organized to reduce stress and frustrations... 3.) Drink more water....even if it's hard...make it a priority...a continued "work in progress" for me!! 4.) Get to the pool....it makes me feel good, it's my happy place...no excuse!! Shoot for 3 days a week to start!! 5.) Be kind to ME!! Remember you can't be all things to everyone especially if you don't take care of you first!!

Good Morning all
Thanks for starting us off Jo. Simple Saturday!!! Mine will be simple, I'm going to my meeting and then a massage at 1:00pm and then I don't know what I'm going to do, I guess I will take it easy and recover from such a busy week. I'm definatly going to get on my matt and walk this morning. It is going to be rainy until Wednesday and then next weekend it's going to get up to 65-70 degree's so I know I will want to garden next weekend and start getting my yard cleaned up from the winter. I'm going to get my mom's groceries tomorrow so I can get my massage today. Audrey comes home tomorrow and I'll be glad she will be back in Oregon, I haven't heard from her since Wednesday but I'll be she's having fun.
OK need to get moving so I can get some thing's picked up around here.
Have a great Saturday

Good afternoon - Simple Saturday... yeah, nothing on my to do list!
Sue: Hope the swim was good for you and the boys. You must be home now and just hanging out/winding down.
Jo: Thanks for starting us off today - where'd you go?? LOL Hoping you can enjoy some down time this weekend. So are you out of Joe's program now? Were you able to escape? I now have a total of 3meds and 3 supplements to take each day. When it's time to reorder I will reassess if I think they are helping or not.
Jenny: YAY for a massage today!! I know I am getting one while in AZ, and might spring for a facial too! Good for you having a day today to recoup from your crazy two weeks. Sorry you have to help your DM tomorrow, I thought with DS getting home, maybe she'd take a turn? Glad Audrey will be back home too, yes we always worry when they travel.
I got the call yesterday, about the sleep machine. OYE VEY! They got the order from the doctor, now they have to send to billing for insurance, THEN if all is approved, they will call to schedule delivery! Probably ANOTHER TWO WEEKS! I thought BC/BS already approved it, but who knows. I just get myself geared up to get it, and now we sit and wait some more! UGH!
We went to the Relay meeting this morning. Tracy brought Eden and Kathy brought Zoë. After the meeting we brought them home with us, Tracy came too. Girls are now playing chess, Ken has gone to work, and Tracy & I are just hanging out! Nothing planned for today, and since Tracy is here, I assume she will drive the girls home later today.
So cold today! LOL I know it's winter, but geeze, yesterday was almost 60 today mid 30s! Just not fair!
OK Guess I'd better get going. Tracy is being a chatty Cathy and I am not very focused here! Might be back later ♥hugs♥

Afternoon all....it is a cold, miserable rainy day here and I'm glad I'm in for the day....stopped at Sam's last night for the chicken and a few other things for the week and supper.....grabbed sushi for Kellen and I plus a family-sized prepared mac 'n cheese for the other three to have with some of the chicken....I don't need the entire chicken for the chicken and biscuits tomorrow. Tonight is salad and pita pizzas for whoever wants one...I think I'll just have a salad with lots of veggies and some meat and cheese for protein. Maybe a blop of cottage cheese in the middle too!! Will figure it out in a few hours....it's an easy to "make your own"!! Tomorrow is Buttermilk pancakes from breakfast....maybe some bacon if I can find some in the freezer.....didn't think to grab any at the store.....will likely be a two meal day for me. It will be nicer tomorrow so Sarah and the boys will likely hit the lake or some other outdoor activities.....I will be finishing the taxes now that I have access to Jason's w-2's, playing some more bills, emptying a few more boxes and getting ready for the new week. Might make some mini crustless quiches....saw the recipe on the PC page I follow....I also picked up the stuff to make another crockpot of Cream of Crab Soup for lunches.
Now I'll catch up a bit before I need to start prepping all the salad stuff.....
Carole....great news about the follow up with sleep doctor. While I know a CPAP was not what you hoped for it sounds like you got the best of both worlds....CPAP to help with more restful sleep but only the nasal part so not as cumbersome!! GREAT to hear!! Now to just get it and get used to it. Glad the machine also actually tracks what really happens during the night and can be adjusted as needed by the doctor since he has access to the results. That's a good thing...
Sounds like the meeting with Matt was a good one too.....yes, get the paperwork filled out ASAP and get those checks coming. Our annuities are the same with a lifetime disbursement....it's a nice benefit. I have been collecting my Brethren Home for 4 years now and will collect 6 more until it's all paid out...we have been rolling that into our Roth IRAs to max it out each year....I'm planning on NOT collecting my SS at 65 but using my annuity, 401k and Roth IRA as income until I turn 67 so that if I do decide to work I don't need to worry about how many hours to cause issues with the taxes....at least that is what we are thinking at this point!!
Glad you had a chance to pop in and see everyone upstairs....sounds like they are really considering your as a PT person at this point!! Sorry to hear Jess is overworked and overwhelmed getting all the work you had turned over to Sarah thrown back at her.... Yes, so much to consider in retirement, juggling how much you can make with withdrawing from investments is a balancing act for sure!!
Ah yes...one on one time with Eden is definitely better than doing any chores around the house!! Hope Mary's cataract surgery went smoothly!!
Jenny....YAY for the last long day at work!!! You won't know what to do being able to sleep in until "normal time"....What a fun trip for Audrey. Hope she is able to see a bit of the area and get some pictures to share with you when she gets home!! Glad to hear Sammy is back where he belongs and he and Bella will be watching over you!!
Christine....glad you had 3 successful days in Fulton County....I know how frustrating it can be when one or more the kids/families no shows for their appointment. Sorry the weather for driving around town and then home was not great!! YAY for getting back on your treadmill. I'm with you....even with granite, knowing I can set a hot pan on the granite I still grab a trivet/hot pad....just habit at this point!!
OK...this has taken HOURS to get finished....up and down with laundry, 20 questions from Jason....lots of disruptions....time to start prepping salad stuff for dinner....Kellen and Sarah just got back so want to see how hungry he is so we can figure out what time to have dinner. Should be back later but how knows....it's crazy in the house right now!!

Hey there everyone - just popping in while I have a quiet moment here - hmm, still no sign of our Jo? lol Must have gotten pulled away after starting us off.
Carole - I didn't realize you all were still going to do the Relay for Life event. I thought you had decided enough was enough and look for other ways to raise money? I know spending the night at the track was not happening for YOU anymore with no guilt! Interesting about BC/BS not officially approving the C-PAP machine when you thought they did before the test results were available. Insurance is so crazy...We are expecting 3-5 inches of the white stuff tomorrow. And cold. Blech. Strong winds have been going through starting last night. And downpours rain on and off today. Really hoping tomorrow is the last of the winter storms! Also glad Carly didn't come home this weekend only to navigate this bad winter weather to get back to her place. Any movement yet on a decision for the counter? Are you still doing your cabinets? It'll be good to get decisions made and start the project.
Sue - how was the Pool? It looked like Friday you didn't get in the pool afterall but hey, we get it- things get busy. I was able to jump back on the TM Thursday and Friday - today got away from me with working on contract reports, talking to DB Tom, then DSIL Carrie, then Linds about Wedding plans...stuff. All good but next thing I knew it was 12:30 and time to shower and figure out lunch! lol No errands to run today which is just how I like my weekends.
Heading to the Brewery tonight to meet friends - which is why I chatted earlier with Carrie as she usually joins us, but I knew the couple we are meeting up with she doesn't care for (well not for the husband) as he is still close friends with her ex-husband (the father of Julie and Kyle). Carrie suspects he shares gossip about HER and the kids with the ex-husband and it's just not healthy- sure enough, she appreciated the heads up because she did plan to meet us tonight! We had a good talk about Wedding plans and her upcoming road trip to STATES for Nick's Swimming championships! Nick took All Around Athlete last week at Districts - he came in 1st place for each of his events (I'm not good about 400 relay, Butterfly 200 meters - ugh I can't keep it straight) but he did awesome and she will ride down with another Mom to cheer on Nick and other local swimmers.

Jenny - so glad to see the OT long weeks are nearing an end - are you finished now, or in a few more days? It's really nice of you to continue to help your Mom with the groceries and all - I'm assuming it's easier now that you've done it a few times? You probably know exactly what they need while you are getting your groceries too. That is too funny about not hearing from Audrey! She must be really having a ball! I remember when Linds took trips and we would have to track her down to ask her to send a picture (proof she was alive!) lol Crazy kids...oh, I was successful in booking two separate venues for separate Wedding events. I reserved the Elks Lodge for the Rehearsal Dinner while I was in Fulton but was very clear with Carly that the food and beverages were on Ben. Or his family. Which means if his family 'cant' do it' it's on Ben and Carly. I explained it's their Thank You to their Wedding Party for all their support. She fussed and complained they didn't have the money for it - when I told Gary (seriously annoyed here, thank you very much) he suggested they hold their Rehearsal Dinner at our house and we would bring in chicken, pans of ravioli, rolls, large tossed salad, and beer which would be far more affordable. Carly responded, No thanks, we will keep it at the Elks! (There you go). I also booked the local Shriner's Club Dining Room for the Shower in July. Took some pictures of the space and it will hold 50 guests. Much more affordable then the historical museum we were originally looking at! I also contacted the local lady who specializes in rentals for Weddings and special events - since she is doing Carly's Wedding she agreed to help with her Bridal Shower! Yay! I am so not crafty in making center pieces or decorations - much easier for me to rent the items then stress over hot glue guns etc LOL
Finally things are falling in place for the Wedding Planning. Yay!

Hi everyone! Steve and I out running around with Steve this morning stopped at Xfinity and got a new modem. Got home and spent way too long hooking it up. Steven stopped by to hook up the cameras (or try to) and other stuff that I couldn't. Stopped at aldis and then a Chinese buffet.
Steve will pick up Emilie from work at 715 and we will have tacos for dinner.
I made oat banana blueberry muffins to eat with my yogurt for breakfast with greek yogurt

Joe admitted he added wrong even coming up with the stupid $ amount. We compromised. He charged me a $300 cancel fee and I'm paying him in monthly payments. I'm still on the group but not seeing Kait.
I just found out my insurance will pay for an online nutritionist!! Why didn't I know this before starting work Joe! I had one meeting on Zoom I will meet with her weekly for a while them every 2 or 3 weeks. Geez I could have saved so much money!
It was nice the beginning of the week so I took 10 minutes walks outside 2 days and did strength training on Thursday. I'm still sore! I rode the recumbent bike for 15 minutes today to try and help with soreness. I Cactus pick something up from the floor my legs are so sore...geez.

Good afternoon!
Wow, it is almost 4:00 pm! The time today has flown by....and I lose an hour tomorrow too . Oh well. I did pop in quickly to read this morning but ended up rushing out to meet a couple of people to run. it is a nice day today---50s and kind of overcast but much warmer than it has been.
Jo: Thanks for getting us going today! Oh man, I hear you on the modem and how long things take. It drives me NUTS. Every technology-related thing seems to suck up so much time. So glad that you got it done though! I would think that, with your work, that is REALLY important, right? Does your work help to pay for your internet access? I hope so. It sounds like you and Steve got a number of things done today---nice. Also nice that Emilee is not getting off at midnight. I hope that is a new schedule for her? Oh, so glad that you and Joe came to a reasonable agreement. It is good that you stood up for yourself though. Good job getting the workouts in and what great news to have access to a nutritionist! I look forward to hearing what you learn from that. Hope that you have a good evening!
Carole: Count me in with Christine as someone who thought you were "hanging up your shoes" on the Relay for Life event. I know that the cause is important to you though...are the kids stepping up and taking it all over? Now that you are retired, maybe you have different thoughts about it? Yay that Tracy will take the girls home! You sound like you are doing so well---it makes me happy! Thanks for the input on the jar salads....one day I will be brave and try it. Looking forward to hearing how your day ended up and if you got some quick answers about the CPAP equipment -- you certainly have been waiting long enough!
Sue: Wow, such a pretty picture of the lake yesterday morning! Oh, but you know what they say, "Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning." and it sounds like today's weather is staying true to that? I hope that, as you are expecting, tomorrow's weather is nice and people can get outside. Wow, crab soup sounds amazing! You really have the meals planned---good job! When do the boys have Spring break? Ours is in a couple of weeks (I do not take a break then but the schools are closed). Have a nice evening--I hope that it continues as well as it started!

Jenny: Hey, how was the meeting? And then a massage....ahhhhhh. It will be fun to hear from Audrey about her trip and what she thinks of UT. How great that she got to go on that trip....I know that your mom appreciates your help. I am just glad that you have normal work hours again. It is already such a commitment for you and then add overtime on top of it? Yikes. I hope that you rest well this evening!
Christine: Wow, you got a lot of planning done! Venues for both the rehearsal dinner and the shower! Such a smart idea to have the help with the centerpieces too. I picked up a bunch of flowers from the farmers market for the kids' event at our house last year and it took a lot of time to get them arranged. LOL, I LOVE Gary's counter offer to the kids and then they decided that the Elks Lodge and them paying wasn't such a bad idea, LOL! I was just thinking....did Linds finish up all of her coursework? I may have missed it. What a celebration that will be to have both girls done! Uggh...sorry about more snow for you. Our 10 feet up the hill last weekend is making a lot of skiers happy this weekend.....but we are glad to have a break in the weather right now.
Hello to Karen...I am going to get some wash going. I am having everyone over to an early dinner tomorrow and need to figure that out. Have a good evening!

Evening all....supper was a hit...my salad was huge and full of lots of veggies!! We had quite the assembly line of lettuce and fixin's...kitchen is all cleaned up and dishwasher ready to run overnight since there is still laundry going here!
Carole....thanks for starting us off on Thursday....
Gabrielle....amazes me that you are so much colder than we are these days! You said the drive home would be longer just because of the time you would be traveling but that's A LOT longer!! Bummer you couldn't hit the carpool lane. I have notices that around here the "express" lanes are NOT ALWAYS any faster than the regular lanes. I would have been done too after a long day and an almost 4 hour drive. Go choice to not run Thursday....your body needed a little extra rest! LOL, guess you are used to power outages out your way so no power for a couple hours is no biggie! Funny how all parts of the country are so different in what sends them into a panic!! I'm with you on the PT consulting work....I too will retire in July and I will NOT work the rest of the summer....my parents too drove me to work when I started and of course I was babysitting long before I started at Friendly's as a waitress. I have worked ever since except the 12 weeks I was off with each of the girls. I love Aquafor....when my heels get really dry and cracked, I slather it on and put on socks....couple of days, good as new!!
Yes....baseball is a spring sport...Colton used to play football in the fall but last year he decided to play fall baseball with his travel team instead. He plays basketball all winter....wrestling here is a winter sport so he's already playing basketball at that point. Only fall sports are lacrosse, cross country and football here!
Oh....you'd have laughed at Kellen and Jackson today...we all went to the pool as planned...it was miserable weather and a nice day to hit the pool. They picked up the purple "weights" and laughed at me because they of course are super light...I told them to move them under water and tell me if they are still light...after a few reps they were whining! Cracked me up! I told them not to ever make fun of my water/pool workout again!! Both boys are actually starting to "feel it" now! Wimps!!
Question about Elsbeth...I didn't watch either of the other two shows because they conflicted with something we already watched....do you need to have watched them for this one to make sense of is it more just a series focusing on her character?? I watched the trailer for the first episode and it looks like I would like it it!! Now the retirement paperwork makes sense....thankfully I will do SS/Medicare online and all other investments are with Wellington Adams so we will have Simon to walk us through all that and get it taken care of it. I don't blame you for driving to Sacramento to sign the paperwork....with USPS as unreliable as it it right now you don't want to let anything like your retirement to chance!!
WOW....kind of eerie that your 10 year follow up is the same date as your diagnosis.....still can't believe it's been 10 years already. Yes, hard to believe Carole's Matt has been gone 4 years already....but it was right before COVID shut everything down....time really does fly by!
Carole....I look forward to retirement and not caring what day of the week it is! Honestly, if I were Tracy I would be so annoyed at this point to still not have any answers!! Thanks for the link to the bento boxes...I have them in my cart but Jason wants me to order something for him so will order it all together....I'm with you....I see Jason every day get out all his bags and containers of this and that and I think "what a PITA"....when I prep, I usually do 2-3 so it's just a container to grab and go but being able to put everything in ONE container is nicer. I see myself doing it in retirement too to held keep me having good eating habits!!
Yes....our Thursday was miserable but then Friday was not too bad but back to miserable today....tomorrow it will be sunny but the winds will be 20mph....not exactly nice for being outside!! Jason was able to get everything he "needed" to get done finished up yesterday before the rains came today so he's a happy camper!
Our island is 4x8 feet...explains why I thought yours looked more "square" to me! It was supposed to be 9 feet long but then the path between the fridge or hutch and the island was a bit "tight"....we also pushed the oven/pantry wall along the living room into the living room by 6 more inches to give extra room between the dishwasher and island. Much better "flow" around the entire island especially if there are multiple people in the kitchen. Definitely a good choice to make the extra "traffic area"!
I get it...I'm with Tracy, I don't ever want to be "that patient" either but enough it enough!! She should have answers by now....reminder, that as a nurse I know my job is to help her and she is NOT a bother....yes, dehydration will make her dizzy and light-headed....she is not helping herself by not paying attention to her diet and water while in the hospital and I know the paramedic in her knows that....she just needs to get over the idea that is a "bother"!! If you're a nurse....IT'S YOUR JOB!! No worries!! Yes, often grabbing alcohol or anything like chips, candy, etc....it often is just habit! Glad you recognize it.... Huh, didn't realize there was a supplement that reduced cravings for alcohol....who knew???
Oh....Tonya's diet was even better on Friday....she had some Hungry Man breakfast bowl for breakfast and TWO cream cheese iced cinnamon rolls as snacks....lunch and afternoon snacks were no better.....honestly, she has a death wish?? I don't get it? She'll say "the doctor doesn't understand why my sugars are the way they are since I follow the diet"....WTH?? She's living in a dream world!! Well, as Tracy is leaving the hospital is "too little too late" to know she could have asked for different meal options....last time I was in the hospital for my TKR 7 years ago it was still the paper menus that you chose your meals for the next day....LOL!! Times have changed!! Nope....sometimes progress is NOT for the better!!
Gabrielle...thanks for starting us off yesterday....yes, my clocks are already changed....I always change them around supper time so as I wander through the kitchen in the evening I see the "new time" and am a bit more mindful that I need to make it an earlier night.....will say the dark mornings are not great, I LOVE the longer day and light in the evening.....well, I have one more "spring forward" to deal with as a working person!! YAY for a quick visit with your sister this weekend.....funny, one awards show I have never watched is the Oscars....we are not huge movie goers, even with Netflix and other screaming applications we still don't watch a ton of movies. Yes, plan ahead so you can enjoy your family dinner and DS won't miss the Oscars! LOL!!
Gabrielle....I hit the pool 3 days this week....Monday, Thursday and Saturday....all good, so far aside from last week when the PA suggested I not go to the pool for a couple days I have been going 3-4 days each week since I got back and I'm proud of my dedication.....feels good to get back at it!!
Carole....will say the "spring forward" doesn't bother me as much as the "fall back". I have always had not too much issue traveling east but traveling west and gaining time really messes with my internal clock. In the spring I'm just a little tired for a day or so....in the fall, my whole sleep pattern needs to adjust!
Sounds like you had a fun day with Eden....I heard it was National Pancake Day!! I'm sure when March 7th rolls around it's a tough day.....the solar angel sounds nice....glad you and Eden could go to the cemetery to put it out on his grave stone. Always a nice day when you get to finish it in the hot tub!! Good plant walk Ken to work and hopefully walk to the school with the girls to get a jump on the 5k steps...I know you can do it!! Spring is coming so that really will help you to get outside and moving!!
OK....9:30 already so want to think about getting to bed a bit early....slept OK last night but not quite long enough! So hopefully tonight will be different....since it will be darker in the morning, maybe I'll sleep in a bit??? Time will tell.....
