Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be! We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

SHAPING UP FOR SPRING! February 11 - March 31
Spring is coming!
Supportive Friends Progress not Perfection Renewal of Being Inspiration New Habits Great Success!
This can be your Spring! This can be your success! No more rationalizing and making excuses.
This challenge isn't just about being alcohol free though it is the focus of the board. It is about finding and giving encouragement, getting healthy, loving ourselves, and finding what works and what doesn't. This is NOT about making ourselves feel badly about the unhealthy choices, it is about celebrating the healthy ones. So let's go for it!
As always, the rules aren't complicated. Simply no alcohol and staying on your food plan. If you get off track, don't give up....don't throw away the day, the night, the week. We are working on progress not perfection.
You may have alcohol issues that you cannot manage on your own and our group is here to support you and encourage you to get the help you might need. You may have alcohol issues that you can control but have to exert the motivation and our group is here to support you.
Spring clean your cupboard early! If you have junk food, tempting alcohol, or trigger foods in your kitchen, you are setting yourself up for failure. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is always going to happen. Don't make it easier for yourself to give in to it. Assess your kitchen, ask if this helps or hinders me. DO NOT have sentimental attachment to food or alcohol. The stuff will always be there, it does not magically disappeared but your health can be compromised! This is your life! Make it the best!
REMEMBERā¦. 1. Work the Plan and the Plan works! Think of your new eating plan as a lifestyle change -- one that will have ups and downs, with good days and (very few) bad.
2. Don't deprive yourself. A food plan should be about SATISFACTION. Find foods you LOVE that will help you meet your goal.
3. Drink lots of water. Water is good for you.
4. Listen to your body. It knows things. Pay close attention to your body cues.
5. Live one day (or even one MEAL) at a time. Don't be discouraged and beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon. Just get back on with lots of helping hands.
6. Get exercise with activities you enjoy. If you don't like what you are doing, then you won't stick with it.
7. Keep track of what you eat. Write it down. You WILL 100% without a doubt make better choices if you hold yourself accountable for them.

Good Morning!
Woke up too early at the sounds of Ainsley "gagging" but haven't been able to find what it was she vomited. Just don't want to step into it!
Going to start looking at traffic patterns to see if I need to make any detours.
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!
Hugs, Cindy

Will ad my WI after my meeting this morning, altho I know I would have liked yesterdays at home better It will correct, too much pizza! Guess work got the message about me being stinky yesterday, 3 of my appts canceled ha ha. We actually put it on the nice weather, no one wanted to come sit inside. Almost 70 in the day and still really nice when I got home so I took a walk even tho I probably could have taken a nap. Still catching up I guess. Didn't read long at all last night and light's out. DH got to talk to DS as he called after he got off work and I was gone. He sounds good, had some days off after 4 night shifts. Glad they could chat. The electrician ended up putting a new thermostat on the floor control in the bathroom. SO far so good. One more thing off the list. Now if someone would just come and scrub the tile floors. Add that to the spring cleaning list. Figure today will be a busier day, usually 11-12 appts. But it is supposed to get up in the 70's today again so we'll see. Then we go back to colder and some rain. Took some pork chops out to thaw, Amy's dinners always sound so good. If DH doesn't eat up the last piece of pizza today, it will go out with the garbage. Have things to purge out of the fridge for garbage tomorrow. Guess I better get moving and go to my meeting. At least I got a nice hot shower today so I won't be too offensive, at least smelling wise. Scout is already peacefully sleeping in his big box, Finn has been more about being outside with the nice weather. Have a great Tuesday all. Jan Cindy GL getting into town and meeting with the RA DR. Hope she has something to clear up the brain fog and help with the pain. Fingers crossed yo didn't find Ainsley's surprise with a bare foot Waving hi, will check in later.

DH & I took the golf cart to the nature trail yesterday morning to walk after the guy finished cleaning the dryer duct. Hopefully the dryer works better now. The creek is still high but is coming down. When we got home, I had lunch and couch time. I was really dragging after a poor night of sleep and didn't feel like doing anything. Yoga was good, there were 5 of us. DH made chili for dinner. After dinner I watched a new Hallmark movie and stitched. I was in bed before midnight and slept well.
It's sunny again today. We got down in the low 30's and there is a bit of frost on the ground. I need to get to the store to buy bird seed. I feel like they are judging me as they alight on the feeders then fly away.
Cindy- Thanks for getting us started. I was surprised that Killers of the Flower Moon and Maestro didn't win anything. Hope the trip to Dallas goes well and there is no "present" from Ainsley to find.

M-W Word of the Day
ulterior adjective | ul-TEER-ee-er What It Means Ulterior describes things (usually motives, objectives, reasons, agendas, etc.) that are kept hidden in order to achieve a particular result. // Rory found it hard to not be suspicious of the accountant for offering these services for free; her eagerness to help suggested she has an ulterior motive.

Hi girls. Sorry I am getting so bad at posting. There really isnāt much going on. I got a š from the gynecologist yesterday. I lost weight from last time, am physically active, and my BP was great! And I had my last Pap test! Woohoo! Plus my mammogram said there was no sign of cancer! š Iāve been spending my time sorting and counting change! Iām at a standstill because I need more wrappers. I went to the Y today and we have bell practice tonight. Tomorrow is line dance. š
Amy: Yay for the scale going down! Iāve been trying to go to bed at 11. Still takes a long time to get to sleep!
Jan: Glad you had a good trip. Sorry you didnāt like sleeping on the couch. Iām guessing you meant in the camper. Iāve been on Connect but havenāt made it to a meeting for several weeks.
Cindy: I hope your trip went well today and the dr gives you something that will help.
Since I got up early, maybe a nap is in order!

Hi all. Long work day, not a happy scale day but moving on. My WI at studio was up .6 when at home the other day it was down over #1. I will wait for it to correct and stop crabbing. Of course it made we want to eat everything today just because. I did have 6 Whoppers (malt balls) at work but passed on birthday cake. Ate the lunch I packed and made stir fry for dinner and will have LO for lunch tomorrow. Not plans for this evening, some TV time and reading before bed. DH has been fretting over a woodpecker who is trying to break into the upstairs dormer. We've patched a few times, we have The new boards and shingles to replace the siding but still waiting for the contractors to be able to put it up. It's always something. Hope you all have a nice evening. Jan GG I LOl when you say not much going on, just dr's, Y, bells, line dance! that's a lot!! Do you get coin wrappers at the bank or have to buy them? No, the couch sleeping was at my brothers house Carole Hope you are feeling better tomorrow. You need to get healthy so you can go on vacation Amy Glad you got some better sleep last night. I can't even imagine staying up til midnight! I'm and early to bed, early to rise. Did you get out to get the bird food? Sounds like a smaller yoga class than last week, our WW was a lot smaller today too. Some were saying maybe because of the time change? Who knows. Cindy Hope all worked out on your adventure today. Hi to all

Hi All,
I followed Carole's thought process and had a nap. It was a long trip to Dallas....there was a three car pileup and four lanes were down to one. Thankfully I was in the slow lane (not words I would normally say) but the other three lanes kept moving over. I called when my appointment was scheduled to say I will be late and they said to keep coming. I said I would update in about 15 minutes and suddenly my lane was free....people were not giving way. The office called me to get an update just as I was opening the door to the office. After appointment I was sent for X-rays. The place is within the hospital facility. Just what we had been talking about...the RA and the OA are alive and well. Gee, don't I have feel special. I have a RX for for pain if needed, but essentially keep with the Tylenol. RA Dr will be checking on what other coverage Medicare and my Plan F will cover. I'm very thankful that I don't have another doctor visit until the 27th and that is the dental surgeon. I have a list of questions for him. Enough!
I was going to stop at a few places on the way home but just wanted to get home. Did stop at the water company to pay my bill and file for a bank draft payment. My bank has not been making timely payments so figured I would let them deal with my bank.
DS remember the electrician is suppose to come tomorrow. He set it up for 8 AM but changed it to 11 AM. He's working from home so he can do the talking. My spiel would be the lights don't work and yes I changed out the light bulbs. DS checked with a couple of people and three said they had good luck with this company. They are local so giving it a try.
Lawn guy was going to mow last week but decided to wait a week. So tomorrow would have been his day and we are having rain and have had rain so there is no way he could mow. The birds are being piggies and I assume that means a storm is coming.
Jan, glad that DH got to talk with DS. I think you said it would be a few weeks before he heard about the Miami program. Is DGF's parents on board with her going back to Miami? How is their puppy? I weighed before the doctor's and then decided scr*w it, it is cold I'm wearing a sweater, jeans and boots...of course the scale reflected a 4 pound gain. I have no advice on the woodpecker. A friend had raccoons break through the roof into their attic. Any yup, it is always something!
Amy, hope the dryer is working better! Glad the creek is coming down. Glad you had a good night sleep. You don't only think the birds are judging you, they are....I know...the birds come right up to the family room windows and just stare till I fill the feeders, lol. Didn't find any presents from Ainsley but she can be tricky. Glad that yoga was held and was good.
GG, glad all the results were excellent from the doctor's testing! Enjoy the choir practice and line dancing tomorrow. Did you get a nap? How is Jack doing?
Carole, not a fan of naps but was happy to take one today. Did you get in a nap? Hope you are feeling better! Think Florida sunshine! Allergies seem to be the thing going on around here.
Cathy, what are the plans with friends for this week? I think you should make some fingerless gloves for DH....of course use his socks.
Hi Liz! How are you doing and of course family?
Murphy, hugs and prayers for you, DB and DSIL. Hope we hear from you soon.
I thought I lost my post and for once I had copied so it materialized. Yay Me!
Going to watch the Celtics and then probably head to bed to read.
Hugs to all, Cindy
