Read in the news this morning that WW debtors are discussing bankruptcy. I would attach link but don't know how. So very sad that it has come to this.

I searched and found a couple of mentions about possible bankruptcy but no articles I could link. It does seem to be the direction they are heading.

Jennifer, Depends on what type of bankruptcy and the outcome of the bankruptcy.

Interesting: www.cnbc.com/2024/03/14/weight-watchers-ceo-sends-internal-memo-to-employees-as-stock-crashes.html Per Sima in this article: ″Turning around and totally transforming a business is not for the faint of heart!” Sistani wrote to employees. “As we stay focused on delivering for our members, the stock price will take care of itself,” she stated. “I know clickbait stories and their predictable, albeit temporary, market impact don’t feel great. But take pride, because we will prove the naysayers wrong.”

It was $1.97 when I saw it. Sima can say what she wants in the emails to employees saying everything is great, but she has to be objectively accurate to the stockholders and that is why the stock is so low. It isn’t great, and by gutting the company of assets, all that is left to sell is the albatross that is Sequence and the app content.

What will that mean to us? It means that unless there is a buyer - which is unlikely since the billionaire who would be most inclined to save the company just left - WW will go into bankruptcy.. Chapter 11 bankruptcy means we will not see much of a difference in the digital side as they work to come up with a debt plan, but there would be layoffs, changes to save money. Chapter 7 bankruptcy is a complete liquidation and they would close and sell assets. I do not know who would buy it, tbh. Possibly Conair as they have a long association, or private equity . The problem is that as of right now, WW would cost $1.68 billion ($179 million in market capitalization as of today (that’s what the company is currently worth) and $1.5 billion in debt. What company would pay that much ? WW will very likely go bankrupt.

Recently I've been noticing ads for WW on TV, for the first time in quite a while. However, they are NOT ads for the program. Not even ads for the drug. They are ads for the APP. The target market is not someone who wants to buy into the program, but someone who wants to buy the app.
