What can you do today to lose or manage your weight and to stay healthy?

Good Morning. I happen to have internet at the moment so am posting and hoping to keep internet till I finish.
My new thought is to tell myself, when tempted by foods that are on offer or potentials to be ordered in a restaurant, that the foods will be available when I reach goal weight so there is no reason to eat them NOW but to wait till I get to goal weight and then, if I can a few pounds at that point, it will be easier to remove them and stay at goal weight. I'd much rather gain two pounds in the 140's than gain two pounds in the 160's and have that many more pounds to lose to get TO the 140's. So...new mantra maybe?
Yesterday was a quiet at home day as is today. We had fennel fronds with black eyed peas and onions on bulgur with beets I added some lemon and apple cider vinegar with a sprinkle of sugar and salt. Today I made a one pot rice-bulgur-onion-garlic-garbanzo bean-tomato paste dish. We will have leftovers for two meals so may not cook this weekend.
Hope all are enjoying nicer weather where you are than we have here. Looking forward to next Wednesday when there will be a yeast baking event with most making something Easter related. I am still not sure what I will make to take.

Cathy Thx for the start. Lol. . . I thought that I had started the thread. You really could be onto to something that works for you. Self talk and visualization are really powerful tools. Your meal sounds very creative and healthy. Love it when I have enough tasty leftovers that I can mix and match for a day or two.

Fridayโs intentions Soooo. . . More grout sealing. Was able clean and reseal the area under the fridge & oven. Was able to work on the dining section, too. Will see if I can scoot R out of the house soon so that I can get started on the kitchen side of the area.
Bubble bath is in my future! May look into ordering fish dinners. ๐

Cathy - Yay for having internet. When I go out I look at it 2 ways. Is this a special occasion and worth a splurge? Or is it just a get together and keep it reasonable. Most are just a get together. June - You are making great progress MJ - About time you gave him a piece of your mind! LOL on the Kressling and Pippin. LaDonna - See how this other doctors is but find another practice if necessary. I love my large group with general and highly specialized orthos. I was texting with Ann this morning. They had a bear visit them! She is worried about Benjamin who was diagnosed with Cushing's disease. They are controlling it with medicine. Her back is mostly better but has some bad days. Her eyes are why she is staying off the boards. It reminds her of what she can't do. But she sends her love to all.
I was so sure today was Saturday, I hit the snooze. Got up and prepped the feral food and drove down to the marsh. I was so surprised to see Gracie run the wrong way across the street and then Carol stepped out of "the hole". And then it hit me. She said she was going to check on me when she got back since it was so unlike me. Got in a nice walk with Lily and have been texting with a couple of friends and my financial advisor about my retirement plans. I will be getting lunch for Marge and Amby and visit with them for a while. The skin around the incision is a little tight today but they don't want me to use any cream or lotion yet. Tomorrow after I get my hair done will be all indoor stuff and whatever advanced prep I can do for next Saturday since the weather is supposed to be awful. Sunday I have acpuncture at 9 and then Carol wants to go to our favorite diner for a late breakfast on Sunday for her birthday which is actually Monday. My baby sister is turning 65!!!!
S - Usual coffee B - BLT w/cheese L - Likely part of whatever sandwiches I pick up D - Steak Caesar salad with Texas toast croutons

Susi Good for Carol to check on you if you didnโt seem quite like yourself. Was she concerned because you slept late? Or by sleeping late you thought it was Saturday? Is โthe Holeโ an opening between undeveloped and developed areas where ferals hang out? Thx for letting us now about Ann. A bear and Benjaminโs illness would be added worries. Nice of you to take lunch to and visit with Marge & her brother. Keeping them in prayers.
Hooray for starting another week of recovery. All seems to be on track.
MJ lol. . . Maybe Pippin didnโt lie; time is different for pups? Wonderful that Kressling is there to help and support the YMs. You two make quite the team. Mouseketeer should love his PC. My DN, Greg, has a gaming PC that has special lighting. Looks cool. lol. . . Most guys in my circle woul love to be the โkeeper of the flame.โ Confession. . . I like to add logs and poke the fire, too.
MB was long overdo for a heavy dose of reality. Wonder how he will receive it.
LaDonna Sigh. . . I have discovered that some doctors expect patients to read between the lines. I would now read the orthoโs remarks as: this hand specialist is best qualified to help you. Plz donโt get discouraged. Hope that you are ready for a fun weekend!

Skipped bfast and had a bowl of soup for lunch - it was tasty. Plenty of points left for the dinner meal which is tbd.
Cathy, that sounds like a legit way to reason saving the more caloric foods to when you are at goal. This may be a non scale victory
June, I think you and R have earned Fish dinners out and you that bubble bath...enjoy!
Susi, happy birthday to Carol! Thanks for letting us know how Ann is. My heart goes out to her.
June/Susi, I guess the reason I'm a little discouraged is that both hands are in quite a bit of pain - I am just baffled as to why all of a sudden...but if I'm honest they have had some minor pain from time to time. Both index fingers are quite swollen and hard to bend but the worst of the pain started when the elbow started hurting so I'm wondering if its related? But both hands hurting now are just a little more than coincidental. Is it possible to have carpel tunnel in both hands, is it RA, OA or something else entirely. Just strange. I can't open jar lids, its hard to squeeze toothpaste in the mornings, door knobs are difficult and so is dressing among other things I won't mention. And worst of all its hard to pick up Renee Sorry so lengthy but I'm wondering if I just need to see another type dr. I'm kind of at a loss. If it was just the one hand I'd be inclined to stick to the ortho dr but now that both are involved I'm just not sure what to do.
MJ, Sorry about all the MB & T drama...sounds like the Mousketeer has a cool computer!

Cathy, I love the thought of waiting for things that might cause yu to gain.
June, enjoy your bubble bath.
Susi, she sent a picture of the bear -and it was a big one. We have one in our neighborhood that killed a horse here in mid February. Ann's plate is full.
LaDonna, so sorry to hear the news about your hands. Praying.
The rain here was skimpy, not anything like predicted.
I have been off bread for almost 2 weeks, and the scale is sliding a tad. Also off of nuts, but am doing nut butters. Getting off of them seems to agree with Clyde better.
Keeping ALL in prayer.
Waving to MJ.

Good afternoon, all!
Like June, I was SURE that I had already posted here today <sigh>.
Prayers still going up for those in the path of storms... many, MANY prayers... there are many, MANY storms... and fires, too, that never seem to go away...
Prayers for all our loved ones who are in particular need...

Yesterday I worked on a lot of YM stuff to get ready for tomorrow's drill. I'm still not done so that has been my priority for today. One bit that I thought would be easy is not <sigh> and may actually involve our CO and XO to facilitate a decision. Toots reminded me that we needed to get more Apoquel for Pippin (he takes it daily to control itchy ears). Toots parlayed that into using a coupon at Burger King for lunch - clever boy! TV last night was pretty pitiful but I did get a lot of crocheting done, especially after I packed in the YM stuff "for another day". Dinner last night was our C-G baby back rib leftovers and a small portion of Kobe beef with a large salad.
Today I've been working on YM stuff. The Kressling will be here late this evening; he's coming along with me tomorrow to drill. He is in an "acting adult" role - kind of a bridge between YM/Sgt and adult volunteer. In any case, his presence - even late - has opened the door for Italian take-away for dinner tonight.
Coffee... โโโ... it's chilly again...
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Be well! Have a healthy-eating day, all! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
M๐บB & T: ๐ฆ<crickets>๐ฆ from MB about changing any of the other emails that are supposed to go out this week. This is not necessarily good, since his Visionary Part will store up all his great ideas and vomit them out next week. Sorry for the ๐คข๐คฎ visual ๐คฎ๐คข on that - but that's how it seems. There was quite a flurry of "can you check this?" last night, deferred until this morning and done now. There's a comment this afternoon that [Next Steps] will get changed "when the leadership team talks through the 'red thread' [next month]". I wish them well. NOTE: the "red thread" of reference is a concept introduced several months ago that quickly tangled up into nothing.
