Internet cut out halfway through posting this morning and had to wait till just now to finish up. So frustrating I ended up snacking on unhealthy food rather than eating fruits because on the program I was following all foods have points and I reached for the unhealthy ones...go figure.
Bella is calling...have to give her a snack in a minute
Couldn't talk easily to our daughter in Chicago and may not be able to talk to our son...internet is an issue but nobody seems to know why...or at least is not willing to say why or able to fix it.
I will read and review and post reviews when there is internet.
Hope you are having a frustration free weekend.
CHERRY: I have heard that totally whole wheat flour won't rise as well as a mixture of white and whole wheat. Does yours rise well...when you remember to add the yeast AND if the yeast is vacuum packed in a tin and unopened...is it still viable if expired?
LYNN: You have a busy week to look forward to!
BEVERLY: Hope you are doing okay.

Hello everyone. Whole wheat doesn't rise as well as white bread. One thing that helps is adding vital wheat gluten. Whole wheat flour doesn't have much gluten so all whole wheat won't rise well, which is why lots of people add white flour to the whole wheat, as it does have gluten. This last loaf I made turned out just about perfect. The recipe calls for a fourth cup of wheat gluten. I didn't have that much so I added what I did have which would maybe been about 2 tbsp. rather than the 4 tbsp. in a 1/4th cup. It was plenty, and the bread even rose more in the oven as it was baking. I didn't use as much yeast either, a slightly rounded tsp. instead of the 2 the recipe called for. In looking on line it was mentioned that most times a bread baker needs only about half of what the recipe calls for.
The bread had a finer crumb too, not as many holes inside as usual. The top and bottom of the loaf was smoother too. I just hope I can duplicate it next time. After I did some research on line I found I could have made flatbread with the loaf I forgot to put yeast in. It is made without yeast too. Also whole wheat flour tortillas.
I'm doing little odds and end jobs around the house today. It is snowing, but not nearly as much as predicted and there is not as much wind as predicted either. I had to go outside this morning and shovel around the garage door. I found it open this morning. I had shut it when I came home last night, but what I know now is that it didn't stay shut. It came down almost to the bottom and then went back up again which I didn't see last night. Last night the wind was from the east, so it blew snow back in the garage. This time I made sure it stayed down. I also shoveled snow off my steps into the house and a single path on the walk, which has blown back in because the wind is still from the east-northeast. It's still cold too, about 24 degrees.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hello friends,
Sorry I have been MIA for several days. I am posting this from DH's hospital room. He fell trying to get out of the shower on Thursday. Nothing is broken, thank God, but he is very weak. The PT team here is working with him. Hopefully he will get to go home soon with home health & pt. As far as his lung & heart issues, they are about the same as before, he just has to regain his strength so that he con lift himself up with help of a walker. I will check back in when possible. Hope everyone is well.

Oh Bev, so sorry about the fall. I hope DH is able to rebound quickly! Rest when you can⦠going back and forth to the hospital can be very draining!
Waving to dears Cathy and Cherry.
Today was a crazy day. I finally booked us into a Marriott in Cologne. We were hemming and hawing all day and decided to go there and since it is an American based company, we will be able to convey our wishes for taxis and other services. It is more expensive, but worth it. You can see the Cologne Cathedral from the hotel, so we should be fine.
O was going to book a private tour through Viator but it wound up to be over $900 for three hours for the three of usβ¦ we said βneinβ lol to that.
I also applied for DH and I for global entry. I filled out our applications online and b now we wait to see when we go for an interview. It speeds you up coming back into the us.
Have a restful evening, my friends!!
