Day 25 – Identify Sabotaging Thoughts
Take some time and make a list of sabotaging thoughts you have had about staying on plan. There is a list of them on page 193 of the book. Here are a few of them:
I don’t care.
I’m not going to let anyone tell me what I can and can’t eat.
I deserve to eat this.
I’m really hungry.
I have no willpower.
I’ll make up for it later.
I’m treating myself.
I’ll end up eating it eventually.
Share the sabotaging thoughts you’ve had about staying on plan.

Ones I use: I'm hungry and I don't want to feel like this; there nothing that I can order at this restaurant and have it not be overeating; it's a special meal at home with my husband; I couldn't possibly eat less. These are some of my current ones.

The mains ones that I'm dealing with now:
I'm really hungry.
I really want it.
I'm really tired of (tracking, measuring, exercise, thinking about what I can eat, cooking, planning, etc.)

I don’t care.- Why am I trying, I'm by myself now
I deserve to eat this.- Bad day at work, I'm lonely, etc
I’m really hungry.
I’ll make up for it later. I'll eat healthy tomorrow.
I’m treating myself. for me it kind of goes with the I deserve it
I know I shouldn't but I just want to

I deserve to eat this. I’ll make up for it later. I’m treating myself.
The above have been my greatest hits for years now. I know that none of these three thinking mistakes is going to get me to my goal, and yet they are so easy to pull up even before I've had a chance to go over what thinking mistakes I'm making and how to correct them.
