Good Morning 🌜🌛 Happy MOTIVATED Monday. We got home yesterday, got packed, and went to bed at 7pm. 😴 It's all good, up around 1 am, and on the road. We should be at the parking lot by 4 Fingers crossed we don't miss our 6:10 boarding. Just thought I'd get us started today but can't catch up right now. I'll have to go back and read yesterday again. Brain isn't retaining much right now. I think it's too stressed right now. I'll be back once we get through TSA.

Good Morning and Happy Travel Day - Carole!
Let's see - On Friday, Tony and I went up to our place in the mountains and worked on getting things opened up (even though we're not fully past freezes up there. There were some issues with frozen pipes to work on. We got part of it taken care of - but not all - working on creative fixes so that DH doesn't have to crawl under the trailer every spring.
Carole - your baking sounded delicious as usual... and I would have LOVED your doughnuts so it is good that we're nowhere near. That diabetic husband of mine would have worked to put himself in an early grave eating them! They are his kryptonite!
Gabrielle - how exciting (and kind of scary at the same time) to turn in your retirement papers. I am so happy for you! My plan for Spring break is to work in the "kids" bedrooms and get them closer to fixed up and cleaned out. I also have a couple of appointments to keep and want to get on the water. But nothing will be done frantically! We have the best weather at the beginning of this week - not so nice at the end of the week. I'm sure we'll be back up the mountain at some point as well.
Jenny - I have talked with Isaac about all I dare to talk to him about. He is putting his foot down and leading her - for sure! She tries to be a needy girl at times and he tells her to step it up. I don't KNOW that this is his forever - I hope it is - but we'll accept whatever comes.
Our Saturday was consumed with going to Gastonia (near Charlotte) to a wedding shower on her side of the family. Interesting dynamics to watch. Marissa's mother is getting ready to leave her husband (who is cheating on her with the mother of the child she is raising with him - while her children were raised by the grandparents...) They got some nice things and we got to be a part of it. Emily went with me ... just learning a lot watching from the outside. I think I have said this before but they are a family who has suffered many losses tragic death of Marissa's father and then her wheelchair bound sister after a lifelong illness... you hear more about the dead people than the living. I watch - learn - and wait.
Christine - your wedding planning sounds so elegant (especially compared to what Isaac and Marissa are planning). I'll be anxious to see pictures! You have so much to do with prepping for State testing and then Fulton County on top of it. You, my friend, are AMAZING!
Jo - How did your Easter Day go?
Sue - Has your family left for points South yet?
Yesterday we had a good day with Emily, James, & Eleanor - Isaac & Marissa. Emily, James & Eleanor stayed around longer because Isaac had some schoolwork to do and a 55 hour work week ahead of him at his new job. He LOVES it! I don't think I have told you the story of the ending of his job at my school. That will be for another day! It was AWFUL...
I have a hair appointment at 9 today to get a good cut 3 weeks out from the wedding so it looks fresh but not TOO fresh for the wedding day. Then I'll work on some projects here and maybe throw the kayak on the mill pond.

Good morning:
Motivated Monday--I am feeling more motivated this week since I had time at home to get things done that did not get done last weekend....it's just nice to have the laundry done, meals planned, etc. so that the week goes a bit more smoothly. I made it to the gym this morning--we are back to our pre-New Years crew and it is nice and calm in the morning there. It is COLD today--37 degrees. Yesterday was a nice day--DM made a ham dinner and I know that she was so happy to have us all there. It was good to be together.
Carole: So I am hoping that you are parked, through TSA, and in the air by now! I get so anxious anymore about those early flights--like you, our trip to the airport is a long one and things can happen...plus parking can be a challenge as well. I just hope that it all went smoothly and, once you were at the gate, you felt calm and back in control. Looking forward to hearing how it all went!
Jenny: Oh, the twins are so darned cute! I wish that we had little ones around for Easter (and all holidays, actually). Yes, you have time to get things ready for your dad's bday. I hope that you felt good about your weekend as you get the week going.
Karen: Yay, so glad that you will be out on the water during your break! Wow, interesting dynamics with Marissa's family. I am glad that Emily could be there with you. It really does sound like there has been so much tragedy in her family---I hope that she can find some stability with Isaac and all of you. I am so glad that Isaac loves his job! That is GREAT. Oh man, I hope that your goofball principal didn't cause problems when Isaac left....I am sure that we will hear more later. Enjoy your time off!
Sue: Yay for hitting the pool again later! I am sure that you and family had a nice weekend---looking forward to hearing more about it.
Hello to Christine, Jo, and all who follow. I think I will have time to check in briefly from work. Have a good day!

Gabrielle - YES it is my goofball principal... you won't believe how everything went down! Let's see. Back in November, Isaac developed a cough and coughed until the day he got done (Mid-February). The final week he worked he had vomiting and diarrhea with no diagnosis at all at the doctor. I believe all were stress because as soon as he walked away from the job all symptoms stopped rather abruptly. Over the fall months the two other custodians spent more and more time in their "office" and complaining about what Isaac wasn't doing. The head custodian is at the pinnacle of her career and has what she perceives as a little power. The two "lady custodians" spent time walking around the school together and watching the cameras to see if Isaac talked to anyone in the school and would time how long he did it. They stopped doing any of the auto scrubbing of the floors and had him do the entire school. They stopped taking out any trash and left it all to Isaac. They stopped cleaning any bathrooms and left them all to Isaac. My classroom wasn't cleaned by anyone other than me and my students. I didn't feel that I could say anything -- because Isaac is my son. The head custodian bragged about her concealed carry permit (which is fine) but also that she had her gun in her purse on campus and in a filing cabinet where her children and the other custodian's children -- and the file cabinet was not locked.
So, because the "ladies" complained constantly, the principal wrote Isaac a couple of emails about places that weren't spotless. OK. I get it. One day Isaac was trying to clean the bathrooms and the (not head) custodian's son decided to run through the bathroom where he was spraying things down and the kid got wet. Isaac apologized - but the child's mother went to our central office and complained. In the meantime, Isaac had told me about the gun on campus and I went to the assistant principal about the gun. She asked why Isaac didn't tell and I told her that it was because he was afraid to lose his job.
In the meantime, Republic Services (a large sanitation company) had met Isaac and wanted him to interview to be a diesel mechanic while he was still a student with a $5 per hour pay raise, benefits, a $10,000 signing bonus, and room to grow in the career he wants to be in.
We could see the writing on the wall... we knew his days were numbered at school - and honestly not sad about that at all. BUT he had an interview set up for a Monday at 12:30 and then the principal said he had a meeting with HR at 1:00. Isaac didn't know what to do so he put of his interview until the next day because he "needed his job until he didn't need it any more." That day, he came in to work and cleaned his classrooms and they called him to the office and terminated him because of the emails previously sent about the ladies complaints without mentioning the shenanigans with the child. They escorted him out of the building and called me. (I still had students... but I answered... while on the phone with me the principal called him and asked him to come back into the building.) I told him not to go back into the meeting without me. I told him to have the principal get someone to cover my classes and wait. (It was almost my planning time.) The principal tried to get Isaac back into the room and he said, "Not until Momma comes down." He begged and he refused and the head of HR told the principal to "fix this" so the principal showed up in my room with someone to cover and I went down stairs. In the meeting they wanted to know about the gun on campus and he told all that he knew. I believe she only ended up with several days without pay... but I have no proof of that. In that meeting they reversed the "termination" and allowed him to resign effective immediately when I told them that he was supposed to in an interview for this other job. I told Isaac that was a good thing and he took care of the paperwork. Isaac and I walked out of the building together and he drove me around to another entrance and I returned to my room. 15 minutes later my principal showed up in my room looking like a dog that had just pooed on the floor. He asked if I was "ok". I told him that those two bi&ch3#s had da&^ well better get my room clean every day of he would be getting photos and an email every day. He turned on his heel and left my room. At that point, I decided that I should probably leave for the day and cool off. (I have last-period planning.) (The next day a "new custodian" joined our school and he didn't last two days with the environment in that department.)
The next morning when I arrived at school (still rather pi$$ed off) and my room was clean and my sink was scrubbed. Everything smelled cleaner than any day ever. Fast forward three weeks. Principal is in my room and runs his hand through my sink - he says - it shines! I said, I had noticed it. He also exclaimed that my pencil sharpeners were also emptied. I said I had noticed. THEN HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT HE was cleaning my room every single day. THE PRINCIPAL IS CLEANING MY ROOM! He isn't even making those two women do their jobs!
Isaac did get the job at Republic and he is SO happy. There, that is my story!

Evening all...work was a normal busy Monday and both Gloria and I were able to get the "back log" of pick lists finished up and pretty well tackled the Monday work load. Got a MEAP dropping tomorrow, likely around 300 so will be an all day task so at least I know I'll have plenty to keep me busy!! Boys are outside now enjoying a few hour break in the rains before we have 2 solid days of rain....we will likely get between 3-4 inches of rain! Not sure what we got today but we got a good bit. I can hear the boys outside playing on their new basketball hoop in the driveway....I love it! I don't remember if I mentioned that Jason and I decided to get the boys a moveable hoop since Jason opted not to put the hoop back up on the garage end of the house....he's afraid the new screens could get busted if a ball goes a bit wild and it can happen since the hoop was on the peak of the garage and the screens start right at the garage wall....not too much room if a ball gets thrown a bit wild!! They were so cute when they got out of the car yesterday afternoon...Kellen looked and said "what is that?? It was NOT there when we left on Friday!" I think they will enjoy it especially once the new driveway is in and the driveway is flat and even!! LOL!!
Time to catch up a bit....I've been way out of the loop!!....
Carole....will say he boys took advantage of the few short hours they had with David and Katie...dinner was crazy, full with lots of laughter and joking around!! It was fun to see the boys so happy and enjoying the time with their great aunt and uncle!! Oh no Carole...didn't realize that the rain we are getting this week could be snow for you!! Glad you are missing it...you didn't get out of town right in time...by now you should be in AZ enjoy the sights and relaxing!! Hope you got the flooring completed so you can cross that job off your to do list!! Glad to hear there is a plaque but why would they pretend to present it to you knowing you you had retired and would not be attending?? Just seems odd to me???
Jo....thanks for starting us off on Wednesday....sorry you are dealing with the chilly, rainy yuck...we got it too then enjoyed a nice weekend....Saturday was supposed to be raining by lunch but it held off long enough for Jason to get the basketball hoop assembled and David and Katie arrived in nice weather. WOW, that's a lot of orders/quotes for 2 people....Glad you are doing well with the nutritionist and tracking on MFP....sounds like things are starting to click!! YAY for finally getting the Edge back! That was WAY too long to be w/o it!! Always nice to get a good sale and be able to take advantage....good plan to put one in the freezer for your lake trip!! Yes, funny how we always "feel it" when we up our resistance, weights, reps, etc....but it's a good sore!! Keep reminding yourself of that!
Gabrielle....sorry your weather is cold too and the thermostat is still not working correctly!! Hope they figure it out quickly!! I hate being cold in my own house!! YAY for finally deciding on a vehicle. What year is it?? 7000 miles is not too much depending on the year....heck, we put 10-12k on mine in a year depending on how much we travel. Yes....amazing how many hours you spend at the dealership signing your life away to buy a car! Glad it's behind you now!! I was thinking of you today knowing it was the day of your endocrinologist appointment....fingers crossed the virtual appointment means good news!!
Yes Gabrielle...my ribs/back seem 100% again. They Y was closed, as they are every year, Friday through Sunday for the Easter holiday so I had a break and gave my ribs/back a rest to heal. My workout in the pool today was a good one and I didn't feel any "twinge" at all!!
Karen...my heart goes out to you as you muddle though the mixed emotions of Isaac's choices for the guest list for the wedding...yes, I would likely have made different choices, but you also know that Isaac loves and tries to protect his momma so I'm not surprised he didn't want to take any chances of chaos on his and Marissa's day. But what he might not realize, especially with your parents and your sister that YOU might get the fall out with them thinking you told Isaac not to invite them.....hugs to you my friend....it's so hard I'm sure! As the mom of girls, I have no experience as to how to be the "mother of the groom"....I was also lucky that that both couples were very inclusive of both sets of parents with planning and stuff....so different from your experiences.
I'm with you on the tutoring thing....I would want to do it in the morning before school....if they no show, it's on them and you don't have to hang around waiting for rides after an already long day....I would be the same as you!!

Carole....we have an early flight for TX on the 12th and when we head to Hannah's in October but I would rather leave early and get to the airport before rush hour.....sometimes the shuttles are NOT convenient because they are NOT 24 hours so it's just easier to leave at "oh dark 30" and drive the day of the flight!! Where were you flying out of today?? I don't remember!! LOL, I'm sure it was not that Christina in HR didn't like you!! Have other retirees been invited if they were to get an award?? Just seems odd?!?
Gabrielle...thanks for starting us off on Thursday...I'm sure it was a bittersweet day to fill up the old car and hand over the keys....at least you know the new owner and it should be taken care of!! LOL, go figure, you start the fire and the heat turns on!! "Murphy's Law" strikes again!! LOL Gabrielle...I was thinking the same thing about Jason in February when he turned 70....I'm married to an "old man" but then I have to remind myself I will be 64!! Oh, I do love sausage gravy too but will say, chipped beef gravy is pretty much consistent for flavor and consistency....sausage gravy is a "crap shoot" around here....some is good, some is TERRIBLE....you just need to know where to order it!! All this chatter about chipped beef gravy, I might need to make it for myself one day....I wonder if maybe one of the boys might like it???
Carole...it's funny, Tonya actually asked me about putting in the MEAP on Thursday, knowing the size of the 3 that would be back to back...I told her "unless you want to be here with me printing picklists until midnight...NO do not put it in"!! I think after my last couple blow ups at her and her stupidity w/o regard to anyone and her lack of help to get things done she knows better than to do things w/o asking Gloria and myself....Glad you will have 2 estimates for the kitchen work/renovation.....hope one of them will fall within your budget and be able to get started!! YAY....floors are done!! Yes, thawing fruit is no biggie...at least you know you had that at home and didn't need to do an emergency "store run"!! LOL Carole...I never had it on fried potatoes until we went to the Firehouse restaurant to let the staff know that DFIL had passed away and I tried it...it is fantastic!! Around here it is usually served over toast or home fries but Firehouse is the only that does them over the deep fried potatoes....they are thin like chips but not fried that crisp....but crisper than home fries!!
Jo...sorry you weren't feeling well on Wednesday...hopefully it was improved on Thursday and stayed that way. Crazy how suddenly some things come on and always nice when they "jump OFF" you as fast as they "jumped ON"!! How fun that Steven has a girl friend....hope he brought her along and she fits in and feels comfortable with the rest of the family since it seems pretty serious!! Glad Emilie's smashed finger seems OK!! Bummer she had to work Easter Sunday.
Jason finally got home...he too took advantage of the few hours w/o rain and after working until 4:30, instead of 3:00 he needed some unwind time at the lot, his "happy place"! He was saying how the bridge collapse is causing issues at work now because the RH Crawford drivers (owned by Hanover Logistics) can not go into the port in NY or Trenton so they have to hire 3rd party carriers and then those containers MUST be processed within 24 hours instead of the usual 3 day turn around. He expects to have some OT for a while until the port gets opened up....it's tough that their trucks can only access some other ports abut not all of them....it's amazing how much this bridge collapse will impact many things for the next several weeks. Last I heard they hope to have import/export carrier services resumed by the end of April....then they will worry about rebuilding the bridge....most important thing is restoring the access to the port of Baltimore!!
OK....almost 8:30 and I'm fading.....got a few things to get done before heading to bed....sweet dreams all....see you tomorrow!!
