Good morning. 36 and cloudy, going to 43. Snowstorm moving in tomorrow at noontime.
Robin, no I would not move to a different unit here, as I am still so upset about what they did with my rent. And I do not want to be right next to the main road of the complex. I know those kinds of chairs you described, your poor DH!!! I can't sit on those chairs more than a few minutes; I cannot imagine your DH!!! What fun going to the zoo with Leo! Was the zoo crowded? Do they do a lot with him, just wondering if maybe he gets burnt out, with how you said he was a little out of sorts. I have not seen rotisserie turkey either. DSIL had ham and turkey for dinner yesterday and I brought home a bunch of the turkey. Something I ate had an effect on me during the night, with a queasy stomach, so I didn't sleep well, was worried about not going to school. It is better, somewhat, now.
Gareth, no I am not calling this complex about the rent. What I am going to do is, have the 60-day notice form with me in my vehicle and when I get done working, call the new place to see if they heard anything. If by chance they did and I am approved, I will run the form over to the landlord's office. If he is there, I will let it be known about the high increase and noticed another upper not going that high. Sorry about your DS. Glad you had a salmon to grill, that sounds like a very nice Easter dinner, along with the dessert your DH likes. You planned that very good!!
Carol, that is how it always was at the church we went to; the holidays always packed them in. I always said to DH, I hope the visitors donated when the plate was passed around, cause the church could sure use it!! Good for that little town to try and make some money from the eclipse! Grab it while you can. I bet the prices of junk food, and that kind of food will be marked up too. I laughed at your comment to have your stylist shake you!!!
Hello Pinky and Marsha!!!! Pinky, how was Easter? Marsha, did you enjoy having DD home for a little while?
At DD's yesterday, everyone was asking me things about Bob. I finally told them all about the dinner thing. And can't seem to find a florist to buy me a bunch of cheap flowers, or a liquor store to buy me a cheap bottle of wine. They were a bit surprised that I have not been to his house yet. Brian (DD fiancé) was surprised by that, as he loves cooking, so he would have had DD over for dinner. After I got home, he did call me, and I did not answer. An hour later I sent him a message that I decided to end our relationship. I blocked him from the phone, and Facebook. Basically, they all think he has either a wife, or maybe a girlfriend that lives with him. I do not believe that, from our phone conversations, but there are just other things that stop me from having a relationship the way I would want to like he cannot walk the trails, doesn't have an interest in going places, like the National Railroad Museum, things like that. He did tell me more about his love life with meeting a woman on a beach at Cabo and falling madly in love with her, and how he is going to scow FB looking for her. Ok, you go search for that beach love, while I sit here.....I don't think so. Brian was so good, he told me that just from what I told him, he could see 5 red flags right away. I just worry he might come over here, since he knows where I live.
Tomorrow around noon snow is supposed to start, the heavy snow, and the winds are to be blowing like crazy, with this storm lasting well into Wednesday. The only nice things about it is we need the moisture, and I see that next week the temp will be in the 60's.
I am back on Match.com, but not on the Facebook dating app. I really should not be on there yet, as I am focused on loosing that big 10 pounds, so I should do that first. But Match is paid up till July.

Karen, sounds like you had a nice Easter, and sorry, not sorry, about Bob. I was thinking also about him having a wife, or maybe not having the house he says, or living with one of his children, really any number of things about him. It could even be that will his various health issues his house is too much for him to take care of and it is just not clean enough. As far as the rent goes, now I understand. There is always a variation in rent based on location, so if that is a unit on a main road, and you face the farmland, they will charge more for yours. DS1's apartment that they have now faces a highway, but it is not noisy, but I guess it depends on how close you really are. As far as the crowds on Easter go, we call them 3 day a year Jews, but the thing is that they are members, or people pay a good amount to get them tickets to come. No one comes in without a ticket unless they are under 18.
Carol, I have heard that about the hotels all around that people are going to for the viewing. There are bands that I have seen on maps for how much of the eclipse you will see. We are in the 80%, and right now it looks like it is going to be a nice sunny day, so I ordered the glasses from Amazon. They are cheap cardboard, so they were 5 for $20, so I have enough for all of us in the office to go outside and look. Now I should see if we will get a good view from where we are, or if we should go somewhere else to watch. We have a lot of trees around. I am so glad you said you were wearing those Starfish pants. I feel that they are dressy enough to wear with a nice top, but because of the stretchiness they are so comfortable.
I somehow can't get into a book to read, have not started one where it grabs me from the first page. I have a bunch that I am waiting for, but won't be ready for a few weeks. We are going to have a rainy week.

So it seems everyone here reads late posts but doesn’t respond - which is fine, I was just wondering if they were read.
Karen, it’s true, who knows why Bob never invited you over - there could be various reasons - however, he actually told you about someone he met in Cabot and wants to get in touch with her!? Am I getting that right? Lady, you should run - something here doesn’t add up. This man is actually clueless (or cruel) about a lot of things. It’s good that you and Brian talked about it. He can give you another perspective.
Robin, I’ve never seen locally rotisserie turkey. I’ll have to look a little closer. I’m not sure I know what you mean about getting tickets to enter a temple for a service. What do you mean? Nice that you had a good time with DGS.
We’re going to have a nasty week this week weather wise. Tuesday, rain. Wednesday night into Thursday we could even get snow. They just don’t know how much! I can’t believe it, I’m just so over this!
Carol, we had a lot of people Sunday, too. As I looked around, although there were a few I knew were visiting, the others were people that just don’t come often. The front of the church was beautiful with dozens of white lilies and candles.

Karen - snowstorm??? I really have to start watching the local news again. Wow. I don't want that. I was surprised to see you blocked Bob. I think having that conversation with your family, and especially support from dd's fiance, was a good thing. Good luck with the apartment today.
Carol - one of my coworkers is going somewhere to see the eclipse. Her husband is part of an astronomy club so he is really interested in that stuff. I don't know where she is going but she's had these plans in place for a long time.
Robin - I'm trying to figure out what to serve for seder. Our friends always do brisket so I usually do turkey, but this year there are only 5 of us (with one more invite to issue) DD isn't coming home so I'm thinking of doing chicken instead. Do you have any good chicken seder recipes? I have one but it uses boneless chicken breasts which I like, but I think our friends like dark meat. I may get a cut up chicken and use that instead of the boneless breasts. Or maybe do a turkey breast and the chicken recipe but that is way too much food for 5-6 people. I miss the days of big seders, although my big seders were nothing like yours!
It was nice to have a quick visit with dd. She ended up coming home after her haircut, had lunch, then went to her friend for the afternoon. Stayed home with us in the evening, out for coffee in the morning, home for an hour then left. Just enough time. I can see that she has started to lose a little weight. She wears sweat pants but they looked looser to me. I told her so because she was looking for the positive reinforcement. It will take a lot of work but if she sticks with her exercise program and the running works out she can get there. Other than that nothing much to report. I tested 2 desert recipes made with almond flour to serve at seder. One was a cookie that I will make. The other was a brownie that I won't make.

Karen, wow! Can't believe you're getting a snowstorm tomorrow. Only rain predicted here. I think you made the right decision about Bob. Glad you talked it over with your family.I really feel he was using you. If he does show up at your apartment don't answer the door.
Robin, I'm having the same problem as you getting into a book.
Anngie, hope it's just rain and not snow for you. You've had more than your share of snow already. Sounds like nasty weather everywhere. At least it's just rain predicted here which we really do need.
Waiting for WM to deliver groceries so I can make potato salad. I don't have an onion so waiting for one on my order to start it.

Anngie - we were posting at the same time. As for tickets to services, I think Robin was referring to the High Holy Days. In big cities usually the synagogues get overfull with non-members who only attend services for the high holy days so they sell tickets to control attendance. I'm not sure if Robin's synagogue charges members also, sometimes it is included in the dues. At our synagogue we always have plenty of room so we leave out an envelope asking non members to send in a donation after the holiday. That may change now, though. With the dramatic rise in antisemitic threats we now have a security guard and controlled access to our building and require that if we are bringing guests to the building, their name is submitted ahead of time so the guard has a list. That means if strangers are in town and want to attend services, they would have to make arrangements beforehand.
And I meant to say - I hope everyone had a lovely Easter.
And I should update on my travel non-arrangements. I think dh and I have figured out what we want to do. We're going to go to Mackinac Island and from there to the Agawa Canyon Train in Sioux St Marie, Canada. I have to call the resort on the island and ask some questions, then we have to decide if we want to stay there or at a hotel in town, and I'll make reservations. As for the girls' trip, RV has decided she only wants to do a weekend so the Road Scholar trips are out. And we decided that Nashville and New Orleans in the summer would be too hot and humid. We narrowed our travel dates to early august to avoid conflicts. Now we are looking at Missoula, MT. Has anyone been there? It looks like it could be fun, plus accessible by plane for both PHX and me without being too cumbersome for travel. We're supposed to talk again Wednesday after we all look more closely at Missoula and see what we want to do there.

Anngie, for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur the only people who can come are the ones with tickets. We have a membership, we don't pass a collection plate, or get money from any national organization, and in large congregations like ours the salaries for the rabbi and cantor are high, plus we have a Hebrew School we run and tuition does not cover the true cost. Think of it like a school district, where the budget has to be covered. If people want to come to services year round without coming on those holidays, they can, but just not then. The reason they charge for guest tickets is because people would get a friend to get guest tickets for them and not pay a membership themselves. We're going to have a rainy week, but no snow. As long as it is nice next Monday. I think you are also in the 80% line for the eclipse.
I did look when I pulled in today and we can see plenty of sky from the parking lot so we can go outside to watch.
Marsha, I have a recipe that I make for both Rosh Hashanah and Passover that everyone loves. It's made with dried fruit and spices, and I use cut up chicken. I think I may have posted it again on the Passover Recipe Facebook page, it's called Shabbat chicken. I know some people don't like sweet main dishes, but if that's OK with you, it's a great dish. Let me know if you can't find it. Can you get boneless thighs and breasts? If you can then you could do your recipe also. The other thing I make sometimes, which I think you could do with cut up chicken, is a francaise type sauce with sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts.

As usual, I started typing and got sidetracked, by work of all things, can you imagine! Anyway, Secretary got food poisoning from something she ate yesterday for Easter, so is out. Things had been pretty quiet, but of course today very busy.
Marsha, your trip with your DH sounds like it will be nice. As far as Missoula goes, I have never been there, but it is in the Rockies, and I have been to Yellowstone, and C'ouer d'Alene, Idaho, and the area is beautiful. There are various National Forests, and I am sure you can find things to do.
Gareth, I am going to look through some of the books I have on my kindle, and see if I can come up with something. There was a book I got last month from Amazon First Reads that someone on Renee's said was amusing, so that might be the one. It's by Zibby Owens, and I think I read another book of hers.

I think we are in the 90% coverage for the eclipse. I have heard of people who made reservations in San Antonio and other places months ago.
We have security and cameras at our church. One time a guy dressed all in black came in the auditorium during Sunday School. I noticed several security people came in and sat down and kept an eye on him. I don't know the outcome, if someone knew him or after Sunday School, they introduced themselves and found out who he was. We don't want to scare people awaWith Texas being open carry, there is no telling how many members have guns with them.

Shoot, accidentally hit post. Anyway, there were more people at church. Most were members who only come at Christmas, Easter and Mother's Day or were visiting with family.
Karen, sometimes others see the red flags that you may not notice. It's good Brian is comfortable enough to share his concerns about Bob. I hadn't considered he had a wife or girlfriend at home. Have you tried googling him?
Marsha, sounds like a nice but quick visit with DD. Good for her exercising and losing some weight.
We are supposed to get rain again today. It should be worse in Oklahoma with them getting storms. It is also supposed to be cooler later in the week.

It has snowed and rained both a little this morning. It has been 31 - 34 degrees so not a problem as of yet. We are on the north edge of this rain/snow mix and the local weather sounds like it has been nasty in south central and SE South Dakota. I think we will most likely miss out on the worst of it but I guess this is what is coming your way in the next day or two.
Karen---That is too bad about Bob or maybe not. I was planning to say when I read the last 2 days of posts that I think that is a good idea not to ask Bob again and just see what happens or invite him and have a heart to heart talk with him. Tell him you are not going to keep being the one to furnish food and wine and that you expect to be treated too---but I guess that does not matter anymore. I think all of the reasons others have mentioned about why he has not invited you to his place are valid reasons and maybe he would share if put on the spot. That is great that Brian expressed what he saw wrong with Bob and shared with you.

Robin - I found the recipe. It looks good. I'll save it and decide. I like the idea of getting some boneless backs. I don't know if my butcher would do that, but as I think about it, maybe I'll order some backs and do 2 pans, one with the boneless breasts and one with backs, then serve both on separate plates. Then I can make the recipe I was thinking. The more I think about it, the more I think that might be the answer. I could get backs and legs. I need to order my meat by tomorrow - I was supposed to do it today but I can't get my brain organized. I'll order the few passover ingredients I need at the same time but I'm using less and less of that stuff. Of course, I have to make mandlebread for dh so I have to have those ingredients!

Marsha, I am going to have to make chocolate chip mandelbread now. DH can no longer have nuts, at least for now anyway. I think someone posted that on the Passover thread.

Thanks Marcia & Robin for the explanation on tickets for services. I appreciate your both taking the time to explain!
Marcia, my cousin lives in Kalispell, MT and her one daughter graduated from U of MT in Missoula. It’s a beautiful state and I’m sure you’ll find things to do, and once you cross into CA it’s even more beautiful! Do you have current passports? Good for DD on her weight loss! I’ll bet she was wondering if you would notice!
Carol, we have no special security whatsoever at our church!

Sorry I was interrupted in doing personals before and knew it would be awhile before I got back to it.
Robin and Marsha----Thanks you for explaining the ticket process for church----but now I am wondering about what is mandelbread?
Anngie----Sorry about the weather that is coming your way.
Robin----That picture of your DS and Leo is adorable. I love DGS's hair!!!
Marsha----Good for your DD and her exercising paying off. Both of your trips sound wonderful. I was in Missoula Montana a couple times when I was young like in elementary, but I don't remember much about it. Stopped there when passing through at one of my moms cousins for a few hours when on our way to Oregon so I am no help. Both trips sound great I think. Montana is beautiful.
Gareth----How did your potato salad turn out?
Carol---Scary about the guy coming in all dressed in black and then security was watching him. I am surprised you never heard what that was about. I would think a church they would have to tell what is happening.
Our church was packed yesterday also---I don't believe it was so much from members who don't show up much but people brought guests to ours. Kinda surprises me as we had sunrise services yesterday at 7:00 am.
We have no security whatsoever at our church but then it is a small town with little to no crime.
