Well it turns out that I have only two inches to go on the 60 inches I had thought about making the length of the afghan but now I'm having second thoughts. Maybe I need to make it longer although I'm really ready to have it done. One of the people on a crochet group says she makes all the blankets/afghans the length of the person's height plus 6 inches which would mean that I would have to make this one 69 inches long for my dd. What do you all think about afghan length. This one is not really intended to be a bed blanket it's mostly for curling up with to read or watch tv. It will end up longer than 60 with the border so I really don't know. I know what charts say for different afghans but in real life I don't really know what is best.

Hello - Hope you are all doing well today and having a nice weekend. We've had a few days in the 50s here, but no rain. Ginny - Did you feel the earthquake? I didn't feel anything here. Ruth - I wouldn't want an afghan that long. I think of them as lap blankets and I would only pull those up to cover my shoulders, so it seems like adding 6 inches to someone's height would make it very long. Sounds like you have both been busy as always. Yesterday I took care of some business things with the house sale and also went to the house to check on it. I'm hoping things might start moving along now and maybe I can still get the house sold by the end of April, at least I hope so. I haven't gotten back to the jelly roll quilt the last few days, but hope I can this weekend. I have days where I feel like quilting and I try to take advantage of those because there are more days where I don't feel like it. Moving really messed up my quilting schedule/system Take care and have a good weekend

I sure did feel the earthquake here….and the aftershock also.
Ruth, I am going to respectfully disagree with CJ and do like a longer afghan . But that is just me….I like to have something long enough to cover me well and tuck under my feet even if sitting on a chair.
CJ- hope that the house sale is moving along well for you..and that this chapter of your life can be completed soon. Perhaps it’s a good idea to put a long date on this, like a closure by the end of May, with the hope that it goes more quickly. Sometimes I know lawyers are not great at getting back in a timely manner.
DD and the little ones stopped over…I did show her DGD’s quilt, which needs to be trimmed and bound and she loved it. Hope I can get to working on that shortly

Well I guess I'll go somewhere in the middle between CJ and Ginny in the length of my afghan. I need to lay this out somewhere and get an accurate measurement too because I thought I had 2 more inches and when I measured again I have 4 inches to go and that was only to 60 inches. I think I'll make it to 63 inches (depending on where the row I want to end on turns out to be)and then put on a 3 inch border and I'll be right in the middle of the two suggestions and also to my desire to have this fully completed.
CJ, I'm glad to hear that there is some positive action going on in the sale of your house. I do hope it's all completed by the end of April too or at least a sure thing to happen by then. So far I've felt like crocheting every day but I can sure understand how having serious issues on your mind can keep you from doing things you love to do.
Ginny, I'm glad your dad loves the quilt and I hope you can get it completed soon.
It was at least 74 here yesterday but, as they say, what a difference a day makes. It was raining mixed with snow earlier and a few hours ago turned to snow completely and it's very thick coming down. Some is even sticking to the roads here. No sun to be seen so if this weather moves east those people hoping to see a total solar eclipse will be very disappointed. I know there are a LOT of eclipse events planned in Indiana most of which include a lot of drinking of alcoholic beverages so undoubtedly the people planning to attend those will just have full time drinking instead of eclipse watching. If I had gone to Indiana this year I sure wouldn't be shopping in that nearest town on Monday. I'm so glad I got to see a total solar eclipse in my lifetime.
I did work on my afghan yesterday but then started making a hat. The afghan causes a lot of strain in the muscles of my left upper arm and it's ached for 3 weeks now so I can't do a lot on it each day

DD was able to get some eclipse glasses, and if the day goes as normal, I should be home by the time the eclipse starts. To me, drinking to view an eclipse seems to be about the dumbest thing to do…but then my last drink was a few sips of wine 4 months ago.
Ruth, glad that you are adding some length to the afghan. I have a beautiful quilt that was made for me by DD and I LOVE it, but secretly wish it was a few inches longer.
CJ- hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Looks like a quiet day here, but I hope both of you been able to relax and possibly get some crocheting or quilting time in. I think my allergies are starting to act up so I’m not feeling 100%. I hope I can trim the quilt down, and that might be about as far as I get today. I did relax and put my feet up and get some reading in earlier. Also, did it a little tiny bit of gardening just a little bit of weeding. For those of you who know me gardening is not something I enjoy . I do like the way it Looks when it’s all done now.

I'm not a fan of gardening either. I do like the looks of a nice garden.Either flowers or vegetables look great to me but I hate the work involved. I think my gardening for this year is going to be growing some herbs indoors. I want to grow some basil and thyme. I've tried growing cilantro several times and it never would grow for me. I love growing rosemary but from what I've read it's almost impossible to grow it from seed. I don't really use rosemary in cooking, I just like the plant.
Yes I've been crocheting today and will finish the border later this evening. l layed it out and found that it was not straight on the side and was seriously tempted to just pull out the whole thing. Despite the people on the crochet groups telling others that a border will fix everything,I doubt it but that's what I'm doing and since it's for my dd I'm sure she won't even notice and will love the afghan.
Ginny I'm sorry to hear that your allergies are acting up already.Spring is coming and allergy season along with it but some allergies, as you know, are year round. I hope you feel better fast
CJ, I hope you've had a good weekend and that something in your quilting has sparked your interest in getting back into it more. You make such beautiful quilts.
