Hello Friends!
I just drove Abby home after a sleepover and 5 or 6 games of Monopoly. She is such a joy to us!
Last week is a blur of choir practice, church decorating, OCIA and singing for long church services Thursday, Friday, Saturday and then Sunday I was lector and Eucharistic minister. Friday evening was our family crawfish boil and we had a good time. Kids running everywhere and lots of games and laughter. I am so grateful the younger family members think this is important, because I love that we continue to make the memories.
Sunday, I brought rice dressing (per Anna's request) to DD1's and DD1 and DD2 did the rest. We had appetizers, mimosas, salad, rice dressing, candied yams, bbq chicken and chocolate pudding for dessert. I was so tired when we got home I fell asleep in my chair.
I had a great on-plan week until Easter Day. I am doing a reboot this week and trying hard to keep up with exercise. I can't make it to Pilates this week due to therapy, but plan to start again next week, in addition to yoga on Saturdays. Between weight gain and lack of muscle tone, I have basically gone up a size and am very limited in wardrobe, since I gave away all my bigger clothes. I have no idea what I will wear to my great-nieces wedding on Friday. I will take comfort in the fact that probably no one will care what great-aunt Pam is wearing anyway. At least it is motivation to KOKO with my WW plan, right?
I hope y'all are doing okay with the winter storms. Check in whenever you can.

Hi friends,
Great to read your newsy note, Pam. You really had a busy Holy Week and Easter. Little Abbey really is a delight and a blessing to you both!
Good for you for getting back to exercise. Funny how you mention that people won’t notice “Aunt Pam” and what you are wearing. I often feel the exact same way at times. We become invisible to the young set. I do remember feeling that way when I was 20ish too!
DH and I caught bad colds that are just blooming now. I’ve had a sore throat, headache and congestion all day and worse now. But I’m more worried about DH who has so many issues making even a cold very tough. He slept in a recliner last night he had no appetite today but had about half cup of soup and tea. 😢
DS and DDIL said they are also sick. The little ones had a cold last week, but this seems like more of a virus. That’s a bit stronger than a cold. We are all sick after the Easter festivities. It was worth it to be there, but I don’t like the little ones and DH being sick.
I’m WFH all week. I’m supposed to head out to California next Saturday, but I’m not sure I’ll go if DH isn’t a lot better by then. I’ll see how I’m feeling and thankfully I did buy the flight insurance.
Have a great night and I’ll be in touch tomorrow. Thanks for getting us going, Pam.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
I have been MIA for a couple of days, but I thought about all of you. DH had his carotid artery surgery yesterday. We had to be there at 7:30 in the morning, and I stayed until about 6:30 yesterday evening. His surgery went very well ... according to his cardiac surgeon the right carotid was 98-99% occluded so he was able to clean it out and place a stent. The left one was only 50-60% so he said we'll watch it in the future. Now he is in the Cardiac ICU for a day or two. We are both glad this is over as it has been looming for a while.
Today I have a haircut appointment in mid afternoon (the time I would normally be getting out of school). I am going to drink my coffee this morning and then head to the hospital. I have already talked to DH and he wondered when I was going to be there. I know it is terribly boring to be stuck in bed and by himself. I had purposely set aside yesterday and today to be with him, and nothing on our calendar until next Monday.
BBL. Make a great day!

Sue, I am so glad all went well with your DH's procedure. That's great news. I understand them being bored and lonely in the hospital and I think it's a good sign that he is feeling well and asking for you to be there. Hope you don't get too worn out. Glad you are getting some pampering with your hair today, too.
DH is a bit better today and I am a bit worse. Par for the course. DS has called a few times checking on us. He is a good son! He feels terrible if he passed it to us, but these viruses are everywhere and there's no blame. We wanted to be with them for Easter. Worth it all despite ALL of us now being sick including the little ones and DDIL and DS.
I slept very little last night in the Lazy Boy. My head is pounding so I am taking sinus meds, too. Sorry to complain. This, too, shall pass!
I had to skip TOPs. DH lost 5 lbs overnight. That's what no food will do! Calories in, calories out as they say.
Our weather is nasty now with very high winds and driving rain. we lost power briefly a few times in the night. I heard the clicks of everything coming back on. Sort of eerie.
I had a wonderful and long overdue call from my favorite (shhhhh) nephew in NC last night. He is wonderful and we were able to catch up on everything.
Have a great day all and take care, Sue and you, too, Pam.

Good Afternoon ~
I have been to the hospital to visit DH and talked with his nurse. He is still not feeling as well as we would like. He was suffering with gastric distress BIG TIME, but the nurse got some med for him which he took before I left. I moved my haircut appointment up to earlier (since I am not at school today) and she took me at 11:30, so I'm already done.
I called DH after my hair appointment. I was deliberating about lunch and wondered if he wanted anything. He was perusing the hospital menu and planning to order something. I had debated picking up a carry out to take back with me, but it seemed like such a waste to me. We live on the way from the salon to the hospital, so I had thought about stopping at home and grabbing something (healthy) for lunch. DH was feeling better (and even sounded better) and he said why didn't I stop at home and stay for a bit, then come back later this afternoon and stay with him for supper and part of the evening. Sounded like a great plan to me!
I have come home and started a load of laundry and brought in the trash dolly, etc., and then I fixed myself some lunch AND a supper to take back with me. I will save $$ and points, so it's a win-win. I opened a mini-pita bread and put about 2 oz of ham inside with a squirt of honey mustard and paired it with a BabyBel cheese. It is delicious! For supper I made a tuna and egg salad and put half between two slices of Dave's Killer thin sliced bread; as well as some LF cottage cheese with NSA peaches on the side. Those two are packed up to go with me. I am very pleased with my choices.
Time to switch the laundry, then I am going to head out. I need to stop at Walgreen's and stock up on my AsperCreme for my knee. When I was treating it each morning it was doing well, then I got lax and at the same time began walking more, and yesterday it had a "screaming fit" during the afternoon. I bought some cream in the hospital pharmacy and rubbed it, and today it was better. Guess that getting lax was not a good thing. I called my ortho yesterday and made an appointment to have the knee injected again. He did it four months ago and it really helped.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue, you are such a treasure for your DH. He's a lucky guy and I know you feel the same. Sorry about the gastro distress and glad it is getting better. Your meals sound super healthy and good. You know how to stay on track even through very stressful situations. Bravo!!
I'm in full bloom of my cold but took some sinus meds and it is helping with the congestion. I made a large pot of carrot/sweet potato soup that has chicken broth, garlic, ginger and white pepper. DDIL made it for Easter and we loved it. I have the same cookbook - called The Eat Clean Cookbook - DDIL gave it to me for a gift a few years ago. It'll be ready later on and we'll have it with either some crackers or bread on the side. I'm not too hungry. I had a cup of Progressive soup for lunch - Pasta and Bean. Very easy.
Have a great night. Our area has miserable weather today - rainy and windy and my "old" town had several inches of SNOW! Yikes. Glad I am now residing by the shore.
Night all...hope I sleep better. Oh, I postponed/canceled my trip to CA for next Saturday. I am just not up to it right now and DH has several cardio tests, etc. I hope DD understands. She takes these things hard.
