Welcome to the Clutter Patrol, formerly CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. We went to a dance last night, the music was so loud it was hard to hear people. Still a nice time with friends. We did get home in time to watch the UCONN/Iowa game. Good game but not the outcome we were hoping for. Some bad ref calls for both teams.
This morning I gathered a few of the clothes I plan to bring home and also gave the bathroom a good cleaning. On Tuesday night I will do a quick clean in the bathroom, we leave for the airport about 8 on Wednesday morning. I need to run to Walgreens and then I plan on heading to the pool for some sun. Playing cards tonight, just with our one card group. Tomorrow dinner and cards with our other card group. We will miss the opportunity to play cards with people when we are home. UNO with the grands doesn’t really count, although all 3 of the grands are really good players. There is actually a little strategy in playing UNO.

Good late afternoon all. Watching the Wild vs the Jets. Pretty even game so far. Tied 2-2 in the top of the 2nd.
Joy must be working today. Hope she has enough to keep her busy.
Waving to Martha. Hope she checks in this weekend.
Weird thing with my mammo yesterday. I asked the tech how many more years they recommend we females get mammograms. She said HealthPartners (our medical group) says 75, so I’d be done. BUT, she said the Cancer Society says either: 10 years before your life expectancy is up (🫣) OR, if you were to tell them you wouldn’t do anything about the cancer should you have it over 75. Not sure I like either of those options. But I will continue to get them for a few years at least. Have any of you ever heard something like this?
Dottie, could you start a card club at home? We watched the IA / UCON game last night too. Actually kind of wanted UCON to win. I’m not a huge Caitlin Clark fan. I did not like the way she acted toward an LSU player in last year’s tourney. It was not either lady’s best behavior; but I didn’t like that there was backlash for the LSU player (who is black) and not Clark. They both needed to act with more decorum! Everyone says Clark is a class act, but she clearly wasn’t then. Even though we were both born & raised in IA, we’re Iowa State, not U of Iowa, fans! ISU is where we met.
Didn’t get all the stuff together I want for the collection for the neighbor. Did a little more this morning but need to go down and do a little more sorting in bins. And go upstairs and pull some stuff out of the closet there.
We went out to look at carpet but found out the store closed about the time we left home. So we went and looked at sectionals. I have something specific in mind (just like the one that the dogs ate many years ago) and not finding it. We brought a couple fabric samples home because Stan wants to see how the fabric does with dog hair. I want leather or something that I can just wipe down. There is dog hair in the carpet, even if you vacuum, every day, and the kids play on the floor and then sit on the furniture and dog hair gets spread! I just hate it. So want a couch where you don’t get covered if you sit on it. And I want a sectional.
This morning I found an ad for the Parkinson’s foundation and they are having fundraising walks around the country. The MN one is just over a mile from our old house and it’s on our 56th wedding anniversary on 9/14/24. I said it was made for us and like they are throwing us a party! So we have to do it. I think the kids are all going to do it too. Maybe get some of the older grands even. It’s a fundraising one and we haven’t done those before, but this is special. I know that younger DD’s high school BFF whose dad had PD did this walk many times. Have a great weekend all. Will try to check in tomorrow. We have another afternoon game. In Chicago I think.

Good early evening,
Back from work. Had a fairly busy day, lots of administrative work to keep me busy, sales too.
Ruth - I heard the 75 age to end mammograms too. I might have thought about it more seriously, but my DSILs sister was just diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer at 79. I’ll keep having them.
It was a beautiful sunny day today, temps starting to rise again.
Just gonna chill this evening. See ya tomorrow.

Ruth, I’m sure Caitlin Clark is thrilled that she beat UCONN. Our coach didn’t even try to recruit her because he only wants players who are team players and he felt she wasn’t a team player. A great player but not a team player. We would just like to be able to have several couples in to play cards on a regular basis but not sure how to go about that. Good luck with finding the new furniture and floor covering your want for the basement. How are you and Stan doing with your sleep?
Joy, glad you had enough work to keep you busy. Hopefully spring and nice weather will stay in your area. How is the weather supposed to be for viewing the eclipse tomorrow?
My thoughts on mammograms. At this time I will continue to have them. Bill’s grandpa (actually his grandmas 2nd husband) had prostate cancer when he was in his mid 80s. By that time Bill’s grandma was dead and his grandpa moved to be closer to his daughter. She kept the family informed about grandpa. He developed prostate cancer but didn’t have treatment for it because she was informed that cells divide slower as a person ages and the cancer spreads slower. The treatment (at that time) which was the late 90s would have been very difficult on her father. He died about 4 years later and not from prostate cancer. I’m not sure if I would seek treatment for cancer, depends on my current health, stage of the cancer and the side effects of the treatment.
We moved the furniture from the lanai this morning. There are no AC vents on the lanai and therefore gets very hot in there and can affect the furniture. The furniture is very light weight so it only took about 5 minutes.

Good morning,
Beautiful day today. Not sure what tomorrow will bring. I’m sure there will be clouds, I just hope it won’t affect seeing the eclipse. My boss was concerned that Tammy had a long drive to/from work, she also has to pick up her kids and they are talking about huge traffic jams everywhere. She asked if I could work for a few hours tomorrow morning, from 7:30 - 10:30, then Tammy doesn’t have to come in. Since I only live 2 miles from work I said ok. Boss was very appreciative.
I have laundry going, probably 2 loads maybe 3. I want to pick up some fruits and veggies from the grocery store. I plan on making a Greek pasta salad for lunches this week. I will get a rotisserie chicken too, so easy to have for my meals.
I went to the casino last night. I’m not going to gamble, even though I do take some $$ - but I have been enjoying listening to the bands that play there. I guess it takes me back to my younger days when I used to listen to live music at bars. Yesterday’s band was very good. They had a country set and played Tennessee Whiskey and Wagon Wheel - 2 of my all time favorites. They were great and I looked at their schedule and should be able to catch them at a few venues this summer. Fun times ahead …
Enjoy your day

Good Sunday afternoon everyone! Hope everyone is having a good day. Woke to hard rain this morning and it’s been raining off and on all day. And is predicted for tonight and tomorrow during the morning. We were going to DS’s and DD’s but will do it when it isn’t raining like this. Don’t want the boxes I’m taking DD to get wet and don’t want to mess with DS’s laundry in this weather. And Stan is sleeping and has been for almost 2 hrs. Sure hope he sleeps tonight.
Dottie, no sleep is not better. He has an upcoming video visit with someone from the sleep center. He’s talked about cancelling but he better not! I want to see if she has any ideas for helping to get his sleep schedule turned around and if she doesn’t, is there someone there who specializes in PD patients and sleep issues that he could work with. Something has to give. Stan complains about not sleeping but doesn’t seem to realize I’m not doing well either and that I’ve had sleep issues for many, many years.
We were going to look for carpet for our main level living/family room (whatever one calls them now). It has carpet which is beyond cleaning and so full of dog hair! It’s not a huge room by any means sq. feet wise, just big volume with the 2 story ceiling. We are also going to get an estimate for hardwood for this room before we decide on anything. The sectional would be for this room too. I just want something that isn’t going to weave dog hair into its fabric and will look nice.
Dottie, I don’t think Clark is much of a team player either. Watching the game now and SC players are taking her down rough! Giving her lots of free throw opportunities but roughing her up some.
I have our laundry almost finished. Last load of towels & socks in the dryer. A load to fold and we’re good to go. Going to watch the Wild game in a few minutes and making a big pot of chili for dinner tonight.
Have a good evening all.

(((Hugs))) Sat - did usual errands. No problems with either. They previously had closed my lib for remodeling. I wasn't getting home until after 11am, most Saturdays so, I finally changed it back to the one closest to home. I'll walk ip mid-week to get any books. The plus about that I will get purposeful activity in. Friday, ww wi/mtg, down .4. Double checked with leader to see if computer had been updated saying I'm lifetime and not be charged. All taken care of now. Menus for this coming week - soft tacos, pancakes with meat & fruit, soup & sandwich, greek veggie pizza with salad, chx stirfry vegs, crab & quinoa salad and mac & cheese and hotdogs. Today, got up earlier. Had bfast and then went to winco. My list was long but didn't spend what thought I might. Winco is employee owned groc store. Bulk foods. Dh wanted cran juice. Our usual store doesn't carry it but winco does. Prices are usually lower. Only thing is that you have to bag your own grocs. It was sunny 🌞 for most of morning but changed to the liquid variety 🌧. Off to get food ready for dh lunch. Hope all have a good day!(((Hugs)))
