These games are from Saturday, as is much of what I wrote below. I got home late and started responding, but might as well start today's thread.

Strands #34 “Picture this” 🟡🔵🔵🔵 🔵🔵🔵🔵
It was a lovely day down here yesterday. BUT I thought I had an opera to go to. Rushed to get there, only to find out it was not this Saturday, but in 2 weeks. Silly me. It was fine. I got some food shopping done instead.
Our neighborhood had a game night at one of the clubhouses in the early evening. We played Mexican Train at our table. Then it was off to eat dinner.
I am taking DD, DSIL, and Tom out for breakfast at First Watch today. I like that place.
AOTD: 1. Would you rather visit a big city or the countryside? It really depends on the city. I am a country girl now and love seeing the country, but some cities are glorious. Rome, Florence, Barcelona come to mind.
2. What fashion trend you followed was very cool then but now looks ridiculous? Those crazy bouffant hair styles with all that teasing.
3. If you're a sandwich person, and not everyone is, what is your favorite kind of sandwich? Does it have any meaning for you? I adore Pastrami on rye, but rarely have it. As a matter of fact, I rarely have any kind of sandwich. Trying to cut down on those starchy carbs. I did have a Chick-fil-A Cool Wrap the other day and it was very good.
I watched UCONN vs AL. Like the night before's Iowa vs. UCONN in women's basketball, it was a good game. The defense on both sides was excellent. I got my last degree at UCONN, but knew it would have meant a lot to my east coast grands if AL had won. However, UCONN did play a better game.
QOTD: 1. Name the three happiest days of your life. 2. What's the biggest personality change you've seen in yourself over the years? 3. Tell us about your favorite beach. What did it look like? What did you do there?
BBL to catch up. Enjoy your Sunday!

Going to be a rainy day but tomorrow sunny and 70’s and then nice the rest of the week. Mostly 60’s but also sunny.
One bad thing about having Debbie on our Amazon account is anything they order I get the e-mail about it and yesterday I got an e-mail telling me about a gift order I had made for aromatherapy candles that will arrive tomorrow. It’s our anniversary gift from Debbie and Jim! We will love them as we do love candles but it’s a shame that we already know they are coming.
It was so nice out yesterday that when I took Rosie out I gave no thought that the dogs next door might also be out. Well she was her happy little self until she got to the end of the garage. She saw them and I’ve never seen a dog do such a quick about face! She literally ran to the gate and looked back at me as though saying quick Mom or we’ll be killed! I told her to come back as they can’t get to her so she carefully walked back but they ran up to the fence and she was like sorry Mom no can do and headed for the gate again and again I said you have to potty first and they won’t hurt you. So she came up to me and hid behind my legs. I guess she thought doing that they wouldn’t see her. She peed about 4-5 times and each time then headed to the gate and each time I called her back as she hadn’t done the other. Well by then we had been out there a long time and here came Fred as it was halftime for the Purdue game and she ran to him hoping he would bring her in. By then he said Sandy she’s so scared she is not going to do anything else and she needs to come in and she can do the other later when those dogs are taken in. So I brought her in and she stayed close to Fred but still not close enough for him to pet her until she was in her bed. But at least she did run up to him when he came out and when I take her out she looks for him to be there as well. So baby steps but like Fred says we have plenty of time as she’s ours and not going anywhere.
Church this morning and having leftovers from last night. So will be a quiet day here.
QOTD:
The three happiest days were our wedding day and then each birth so I guess that is four!
The biggest change is being more outgoing as growing up I never spoke much and pretty much stuck to immediate family. I guess still that way somewhat as prefer being around my children and grandchildren than anyone else.
My favorite beach was any of the three on Chesapeake Bay as that was a usual Sunday thing in the summer. It took a little over an hour to get there but Mom and Dad would pick up Hot Shoppes picnic basket to have for dinner after we swam. Loved their hot dogs with a special relish that I’ve never found anywhere else. It was sweet but spicy. Always got one just before we headed home. Hard to believe it was only 25 cents and a Coke was a nickel.

Good morning. Nathan comes back from Michigan tonight. We’ll probably take him out to eat then. He’ll leave in the morning for home in Iowa but I’ve put together a breakfast casserole for a nice breakfast before he leaves. I have muffins in the freezer.
QOTD: 1. Name the three happiest days of your life. Every day spent traveling. 4th of July in Eagle River AK or a sunny day in Bar Harbor ME or just pulling over to the side of the road for lunch or coffee and watching the world go by.
2. What's the biggest personality change you've seen in yourself over the years? This is probably not a good day to ask that. It’s windy, cool and raining and I’m in a grumpy mood. My answer is I’m getting more set in my ways.
3. Tell us about your favorite beach. What did it look like? What did you do there? I’ve visited quite a few beaches, not all in Florida. My favorite was a small private beach on the Gulf side of Sanibel Island. My older DB lived there and managed a resort of a few small cottages. Sanibel beach had shells you couldn’t find anywhere else. Shelling there was great. Sadly Sanibel was decimated by hurricane Irma.

Greetings:
Shragae, thanks for asking about taxes! With all going on with us I'd totally forgotten to check in with our tax preparer and tell her we wanted her to do ours again! She responded quickly that she wondered if we were doing something else. So, thanks for that.
Sandy, I love your Rosie stories. I think your NP is right, you're getting more exercise and that's a good thing for you!
Jane, Bill likes to hear about your hands. He reminds me that we aren't playing as much bridge as we should/could. He's right, of course. I need to check in with the club here and see the times available.
QOTD:
1. Name the three happiest days of your life. Lately I'm thinking that a happy day is the current one. I woke up well and am breathing! But otherwise, the day I married Bill and when the boys were born.
2. What's the biggest personality change you've seen in yourself over the years? Lately I'm noticing that I'm much more relaxed. I like it.
3. Tell us about your favorite beach. What did it look like? What did you do there? I liked the beach at the Domican Republic. The sand was so fine and white. I looked up best beaches and Turks and Caicos came up. Since it's only 230 miles away from the DR, I think the DR enjoys some of the same fine, white sand. So, that's my pick. I just walked along the beach. It made my feet the softest they've been in ages!
I know no one else plays American Mah Jongg, Ruth plays Chinese, I think. Our new year began on April 1 and the cards are out. The cards give the hands that we goal to make. Last year i went through the card and played every hand at least once. This year I'm going to do that again. I think it helped. I'm also going to do some research with it. Sometimes when a player starts with one hand things change and s/he needs to move to another. I want to figure out some back up hands for some of those that might be my "favorites" to do. Just a couple a day. Taxes need to come first.
I woke up about 3 a.m. from a dream. I was trying to tell Bill something and it was really bothering me as I couldn't seem to get across what I wanted to sa. It was slightly disturbing and I stayed up a while reading. Someone recommended Gilead by Marilynne Robinson to me. I'm about 50 pages in but it seems like just one person rambling on and on. A pastor who is aging and maybe near death. That I'm not sure about, but it doesn't have chapters. It won the Pulitzer Prize. I'm close to dropping it, but my friend wants me to like it and discuss it. I hope something kicks in for me.
The wind has blown for two days. In the country the power company has turned off the power in case the lines are blown down. It's so dry that downed lines could easily start a fire as they have before. Hopefully the winds will die down this evening.
We are going to watch the women's game shortly. The time has changed from what Bill first learned. Not sure why, but it has.
I get a haircut on Wednesday! Whoo[ee! I'm getting really shaggy.

Mah Jongg I play on line to practice. There is one site that charges and now there are two sites that are free. I've enjoyed the paid site, but I think I'll try the others out just for fun.

Good afternoon.
I've been busy today between church, laundry and now I'm making a cake for Denise's birthday tomorrow. My sister and friend will be coming for lunch and the eclipse so I also need to do a few things to prepare for lunch tomorrow. I decided to make it an easy lunch since we're not sure what time they're arriving because of all the heavy traffic headed to Indy. I ordered 3 different chicken salads from Chicken Salad Chick along with their Broccoli salad. I got croissants from the store along with leaf lettuce and slicing tomatoes. I also picked up some chips and dip.
QOTD: 1. Name the three happiest days of your life. 2. What's the biggest personality change you've seen in yourself over the years? 3. Tell us about your favorite beach. What did it look like? What did you do there?
AOTD: 1. The day we were married, the day Denise was born and the day we picked Denise and George up from the airport and met Maya for the first time. 2. I'm definitely more relaxed than I used to be. 3. I loved going to Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana. It's the 2nd largest lake in Indiana and it has a wonderful beach area as well as hiking trails, boating, and fishing. We went there at least once every summer and spent the day picnicing, hiking and swimming. The lake covers almost 2K acres and is surrounded by beautiful lake homes, restaurants and shops.

Hey all. Hope everyone is well. Sort of a quiet day here which is nice for a change. My thigh/knee are bothering me today so I'm actually icing it. Will do a zoom call with my kids in a little while. We are having a very nice day @ 60 and sunny and finally not so windy.
Karen8787, were the tea sandwiches you made for your tea go over well? I'm curious about the ham ones. If you could, can you please share the recipe. My co-chair for our dance in June and I are trying to come up with some ideas for some tea sandwiches. Thanks.
Waving to all. Happy Monday if I don't get back and if you decide to look at the eclipse tomorrow, do so safely.

Well the basketball game didn’t go in our favor but the Iowa girls surely didn’t play their best game, so many baskets missed . I do believe they were out classed height wise but that shouldn’t have been the deciding factor, they just missed their baskets. Catlin holds so many records but she didn’t get what she thought to be the “ cherry on top”. It’s just a game she will go on with her life. I guarantee the women’s basketball games will not have the following next year they did this year. And that was because of Caitlin Clark. I know I won’t likely be following anyone.
We had a great day. Rain was predicted but as usual it didn’t happen here. We of course had to much food, the kids had fun hunting their eggs. The men hid most of the eggs but couldn’t remember where they hid them. Finally with everyone helping to hunt we found them all. So that’s it for this year.
I have had a very bad food week this week actually I think my worst one in 12 years. Even on vacations. I have a very good idea what the scale will say but starting tomorrow I will turn things around.
We are to have 80some % of eclipse coverage tomorrow and I do have my glasses but it also shows how you can fit those glasses into a paper plate to give you even more protection. The eclipse glasses don’t have a very big lenses. I won’t spend a lot of time out there.i
1. Name the three happiest days of your life. The day Steven asked me to marry him, our wedding day, two babies born, purchasing our new house.
2. What's the biggest personality change you've seen in yourself over the years? Not nearly as shy as I once was. Can speak up for myself today.
3. Tell us about your favorite beach. What did it look like? What did you do there? Beaches, not been to but a few. Beaches at the Bahamas is where we have spent the most beach time.
Hasn’t been much interesting on TV lately. Just noticed Heartland is on the rest of today till I go to bed so I am set even though I have seen them before.

Had a lovely breakfast at First Watch with Tom, DD and DSIL. Then, on a whim, we went to Costco. Imagine our surprise to find ourselves first on line when we went to check out. I think there is a rush earlier, but we did not leave until 4:30 and voila! Easy peasy.
Thank you for sharing your interesting answers to today's questions!
It's true, Sharon, that Sanibel Island had shells you would not see anywhere else. It was my DMIL's favorite USA vacation spot and whenever she came back from a spell there, we would ooh and ahh at her "pickings."
Karen, beautiful photos of Dominican Republic.

AOTD:
1. Name the three happiest days of your life. It's hard to pick just 3. I have been blessed. -Marriages and getting together with my two husbands and Tom -Births: of my two and my four grands. It was special to be in the delivery room with DD when my first grandchild was born. -Travel: some unforgettable times: seeing Michelangelo's DAVID, the Great Wall of China, and the countryside in the South of France stand out.
2. What's the biggest personality change you've seen in yourself over the years? I am much more confident and open to other opinions. Sounds like a contradiction but not really. I think when I was unsure of myself I was defensive when others disagreed. I also am less self-conscious and can "let things go" more easily.
3. Tell us about your favorite beach. What did it look like? What did you do there? One of the most beautiful beaches I ever saw was Elafonissi Beach in Greece. The sands are a soft, pinkish coral and the water a beautiful blue. We just walked along it in awe. I love to snorkel and the beaches near Playa del Carmen in Mexico were just wonderful for that. Unfortunately, they are not anymore, as the coral and fish are dying as are the fish as a result of heavy tourism and climate change. Hanauma Bay in Hawaii was also gorgeous, as are other beaches there. Just being near water does something to my soul.
