Good Morning Everyone!!
Breakfast dishes can wait...I've been working on a contract report, doing laundry, chatting off and on with DH and Carly or both and not getting things done but that's okay. Trying to remember to keep the day SIMPLE!
Went to the Brewery last night with Carly. Had a very nice time together visiting and actually watching her & Gary just chatting which was sweet. I ordered a burger minus the bun and limited self to just one beer. Anymore that is all I do but it's the company I enjoy most. Ben will be here later today. He's been at camp for Trout Fishing - it's the season opener for Trout - who knew?! lol
Linds worked most of the day then met her 'friend' out for dinner/drinks. We keep encouraging her to bring him around but she keeps saying, "He doesn't DO parents" OH?? So I don't put too much stock in that relationship lol What. Ev. Er.
Today is beautiful SUNNY skies! Warmer temps close to 50s expected. But guess what - TOTAL CLOUD coverage tomorrow predicted for the Eclipse. Huge disappointment and no, I am not driving hours to another location. I'll see it on the internet I'm sure. But then, hey, ya never know - maybe the clouds will part and maybe we will see a little bit of it - supposed to be around 3:00 here.
I am making homemade meatballs and sauce for dinner today with planned leftovers during the upcoming week. We will have meatball subs one day and meatballs/rigatoni another day. Then I'll freeze what's left. Veggies have not been good lately but I picked up the best I could find for salad makings.
Later this afternoon we are stopping at my dear Aunt's home. It's her 90th Birthday!! This is DM's older sister. Out of 7 children, Aunt Marion is #3 and the oldest surviving sibling. Virginia is 6th of the 7. She ALWAYS complained about Aunt Marion - just didn't like her all these years. And vocalizes it to whoever is around (kinda embarrassing) Even the other cousins will ask me WHY? Why doesn't Virginia like Aunt Marion?? The excuses are endless and none make sense (she thinks she's prettier, she doesn't take good care of her health, she depended on her husband too much..) DB Tom and I agree we LOVE Aunt Marion as she has always been very kind and sweet to us! So today we are going to visit her (she lives in the same Modular Home Park as Virginia) - I bought flowers and card. Been debating whether or not to pick up Virginia along the way but she has NOT mentioned to me anything about the planned Open House for Aunt Marion! Nada. Like she's holding it close to her and not sharing...OR....OR as Carly pointed out, maybe Virginia is not invited to the Open House celebration of her sister since she clearly tells everyone they don't get along!

Good morning all
Didn’t get much done yesterday as we were up helping mom get her house cleaned up since relatives will be up this week. Today is a pedicure and not much else. I go in late to work on Monday for my drs appt. I work Tuesday and Wednesday and am off for a 4 day weekend. It’s supposed to be nice this week so we are going to buy an extra umbrella so people can sit outside next weekend with out being in the sun.
I got a new phone and I don’t know if I like it. It’s kind of big, I’m used to my I Phone 12 now I got a 15+. My Bluetooth I. My car won’t pair up with it so I’m using my old phone for the car. We will see.

Carole glad you made it home safely and it looked like a fun trip with lots of sunshine. You should have gotten some sunscreen though. Glad the resort was pretty. How did Ken like pickle ball? I want to try that too it looks fun.
Christine great idea for a wedding cake, maybe even save a little money in that area. Oh I do hope that the clouds go away and you can see the eclipse it is really neat thing to see. Lindsey’s got a new friend, but he doesn’t do parents? Oh brother!!! I hope he comes around sometime.
Gabrielle how did Ed’s run go? Not much longer now and you’ll be retired as well. How’s the new car? Are you enjoying it?
Nice toes Sue.
Ok gotta run

After our visit to my DA's home and seeing cousins, Carly and I are going to stop at a local Macy's to check out some household items for her Registry. She is going to register at Amazon.com and Target but she wants to 'touch and feel' dinnerware sets and silverware before just picking something out on Amazon. Our Macy's is threatening to go out of business which is why she is not registering at Macy's.
Her good friend, Logan totally regrets her Registry from last year when she was married. She focused only on things for a small apartment. She and her new husband just bought a house and NOW they are finding things they wish they requested. I told Carly that is the purpose of a Registry - to help set up a household not to focus on what fits in her tiny kitchen. When Gary and I got married we stored all our wedding gifts, in their original boxes, in our walk-in closet until a year later when we were able to buy a house. I offered basement space here for any gifts she might want to keep in storage
Had a long pause between posts - DH just got sick. He felt dizzy then ran to the BR - ohhh boy. He went back to bed. Poor guy.
Time for the TM and clean the kitchen.
Hoping everyone has a Simple Sunday!!

Morning all...it's a beautiful Sunday morning here in Glenville....full sun, few puffy white clouds...gone is the gloomy weather from the week.
Looked at the Weather Channel to see what the San Antonio weather was going to be like next weekend and it looks perfect! A little overcast on Saturday but can't complain about 83°!! Let me know if the link works...never tried to put a hyperlink into a post!
Back to Wednesday to catch up....
Christine....thanks for starting us off on Wednesday day...will admit to being a bit "off and on" this week with my water...it was chilly and dreary, not exactly the weather that makes me think water...more like coffee, tea or hot cider!! Honestly, couldn't tell you the last time we had ham for Easter, Christmas or Thanksgiving....about the only time we have ham is when I make Ham & Green Beans....or the occasional grilled ham steak but that rare. I never ate much ham as a kid either. Yes, PA had a crappy weather week...hope your prediction of no accumulation held out....with the warm weather coming now whatever you did get won't last long!!
I just checked the eclipse forecast for our area and the clouds don't sound like they will be an issue....still showing we will see 90-93% of the eclipse here as expected....Cleveland is only showing 44% and it think they were to be in the good viewing area?? Glad you can work remotely tomorrow to avoid the chaos of the crowds. They are saying the crowds in many areas in the direct line are crazy. Jason heard yesterday that some hotels in those areas were booked over a year ago....nothing is closed here but as I think I mentioned they are letting the kids out of school about an hour and half earlier than normal so everyone is home and not still on a bus when the eclipse comes through here. Guess the schools don't want the liability of kids looking at the eclipse w/o the proper eye protection.
Speaking of eye protection...yesterday at my massage Holly asked "do you have eclipse glasses"...I said I didn't get any but had thought about it....she then handed me the last 4 pairs she had....she told me she had gotten a case of them as a fun treat for all her massage clients that didn't already have them....I was her last massage before the eclipse so she have me the last four pairs...I have one, gave one to Jason and left two for the boys to watch...they will have a great view from the back patio...it will be right over the shed. Not sure where the sun will be at that point at work but will watch where it comes up and what direction it heads over the building!! Yes, I will be a slacker for a bit during my work afternoon to check it out....while I hope I'll still be walking this earth on 2044 when the next one comes, we never know so I won't miss this one!! LOL!!
Christine...your Easter sounds a little odd with DM just eating then taking her pie "to go"....whatever, it sounds like everyone needed the down time. Bummer Carly felt better but not well enough to enjoy the nice dinner. I love the "Amazing Race"....we have watched it for years!! Yes, our visit with David was short and sweet but we made the best of it! Their trip home started fine, out of the rain before they hit Baltimore but then in VA there was a big accident and they lost over an hour!
Yes, exactly what we thought...the boys love to play the Nerf Basketball in the house and used to shoot hoops often when it was on the house...we had planned to put it back on the house, Scott already had made the new backboard from some scrap we had but then with more thought and seeing the screens just feet from the edge of the back board he changed his mind!! So, the early birthday gift sounded like the perfect compromise and with the new driveway coming it will be perfect. Maybe Grandpa will even paint a "foul line" on the driveway???

Good morning!
It is 37 degrees (BRRR) but nice and clear today. By Thursday it is supposed to be a high of 77 degrees! Then rain (again) Fri/Sat. Yesterday was beautiful, puffy clouds in a blue sky. It was 37 when DH start his run at 6:00 am and I wore two shirts, a sweatshirt, and a coat to stay warm during the day---high 40s. With a run like that (it takes 11+hours) there is a lot of waiting between stations. So I got my run in in the morning, showered at a friends. Then DH's running buddy had knee problems and had to drop out so I agreed to meet DH at the bottom of the 4 mile hill at the end and go up with him (so much for the shower) so we did that. My knee is a little sore today (that made for 20 miles of running/hiking yesterday) but I was glad to help out and he was happy with his finish. LONG day though. We left at 5:00 am and got home at 7:00 pm. Today I am happy to be doing "normal" Sunday things -- grocery shopping, clean my car, etc.
Christine: Thanks for starting us off today. What a nice evening! I didn't realize that Linds had a "mystery man" aka "friend" that you hadn't met yet! LOL, so glad that she obviously enjoys his company and you are the cool parents that he will eventually get to meet. Oh that is so sad about the cloud cover tomorrow...I do hope that there are some breaks in it for the viewing. Wow, it is really coming together as you plan the registry and I totally agree---it is about setting up a home. We were living in a tiny mobile home after we got married (building our house) and we stored the gifts in boxes until the house was finished...it was fun to re-open some of them months later and have things for our home! Some kind if interesting ideas from other recent showers (and thinking of Carly and Ben): One asked for contributions to a trip for their honeymoon; another asked for camping/kayaking equipment...so many fun things that will be great for them! We have Macy's closing around here too....kind of sad. I think that the one in Union Square in San Francisco recently closed! I am sure that it was expensive to lease that space. Oh, I hope that DH doesn't have a full day of feeling awful (and that the rest of you dodge the bug). Yikes about DM and her sister---and they LIVE IN THE SAME PLACE? Yikes! When can people let go of things and realize that time is getting shorter? It's just sad! I am glad that you and Tom enjoy your aunt and can let her know that you appreciate her. Hope that your day is a good one!

Carole: So glad that you got home safe and sound with few delays! And it sounds like you got some decent sleep. Oh, the sun---did you find that when you were out here at Lake Tahoe? It is SO easy to get sunburned there -- especially if the temps are not too high and you don't feel "hot". We are constantly slathering on the sunscreen. I hope that it is calming down now--it hurts! I do love that the AZ trip was a good one-- I hope that it lived up to your expectations and you will be back. Are you having the family over today? I hope that you feel good enough to get in the tub....warm water can hurt that sunburn though (like I need to tell you that). Hoping that you have a nice day today with some family time.
Jenny: How is your weather looking for next weekend? I think okay since you are getting an umbrella! I am so happy for you--it is going to be fun to have everyone over and yahoo for the 4-day weekend to get things ready and a little downtime before returning to work. I love events like this....your backyard will be ready for summer! Uggh about the phone. I saw online that a lot of car manufacturers are getting rid of using the Apple driving software (whatever it is called) and Android Auto because of kinks with new phones. I have Pixel 7 and it had issues (that I read about) connecting with things on my car too). I overrode the software (when you set it up, it give you a choice) and now just use the bluetooth. I had to do one other thing on my phone though to make it all work (there were instructions on a website). I wonder, when you have the time, if you can look it up? SUCH A HASSLE though...phone issues suck up hours of my time! I hope you can get it done though some day. So is Audrey thinking more about "life after college"? It must be getting exciting to be reaching that point in her life! I hope that you have a good day today---oh, and I love my car. Yesterday was a reminder of how great it is to have the space to put the ice chest, etc. and the comfort....thanks for asking.

Sue: Wow, the San Antonio trip is right around the corner....and it sounds like the weather will be great. It is good to hear. It will be great if you have a good view for the eclipse--and that the boys now have glasses too. Your toes are lovely--and ready for your TX trip! How was the massage? Hoping that you had a good day and some time to relax.
I am going to get moving with the promise to check in later....I have some things that need to be done today that need to get started. See you all later!

Sue: WOO HOO, pretty toes for a spring trip!!
Christine: Thanks for starting us off this morning - SIMPLE Sunday!! Yes, enjoy your time to chat, and no worries about the dishes! Trust me, they will get done! So glad you can go out and enjoy the time and the company, without ruining your progress. Hmmm, I don't remember Linds having a "friend"... be patient Mamma. ♥
We have some sun/clouds today, up to 46 degrees... looks like no breeze, so maybe some tub time today. The sunburn feels better, so the hot water shouldn't be a problem. Timing for eclipse tomorrow is about the same here, and we are 90% totality. It is what it is, I'm not getting on the roads to view it better, that's for sure!
Oh how FUN to go visit Aunt Marion. I say do not stop at Virginia's, in case she was not invited. No point letting her spoil Marion's big day.
Jenny: So glad you could help DM get her house ready for guests. It will be so much fun to have everyone over for Dad's BD next weekend. Yes, the resort was very nice... but... pretty much in the middle of nowhere! LOL Everything is a "drive", much like being home! While I do like a place to relax, it is also nice to have something nearby! I'm sure we'll go back, BUT, want to check out other resorts before going back to that one (I think)! Ken likes Pickleball, but unfortunately most folks that played, already had partners... so he didn't really get to play much.
Christine: YES... enjoy the stop at Macy's! So much fun to be looking at all new dishes, etc.! GREAT IDEA to choose things for a larger space, at some point. Oh No... Hope DH feels better soon! Good luck with all your things going on today - and keeping it SIMPLE!
Sue: Absolutely, no complaints about 83 degrees!! Sounds like the boys will have a great view of the eclipse, glad Holly had the extra glasses. My sister got some for all of us, way back... The good news is, I even know right where they are! LOL We should be around 60 degrees, so I think I will try to be in the tub for the eclipse.
Gabrielle: Well geeze, I think your droughts of the past several years should be contained pretty well this year!! I just saw a headline that CA lakes may spill OVER this year?? UGH YOU GO GIRL! So much running, hiking yesterday! Very long day too! My day was so very laid back, I can't even imagine moving THAT much yesterday (or today)! LOL I guess the Jet Lag is worse, the older I get? Glad DH was happy with his run time, sorry his friend got hurt and had to leave.
LOL I did get sleep! Like I said my day was totally laid back, and I was still tired! UGH! So early to bed, and slept all night last night, until almost 11 AM today!! OMG! 10 hours 49 minutes, scored 87! Yesterday, I did get the dishes put away. We had run the dishwasher overnight Sunday, so I just opened it Monday before we left. Anyway, emptied dishwasher, and drainer...I also folded laundry and started the laundry of vacation clothes. I also got the suitcases unpacked and DH got them upstairs and out away already! Of course some of the stuff just got put on the desk in our room, so it all needs to be put AWAY. I ordered salads to go with our frozen (dressed up) pizza. So it wasn't a total laid back/lazy day.
No, the sun in Tahoe wasn't an issue. Maybe because it was July that we were there? I would have already had a pretty good base tan by then. Back then I tanned, didn't burn (much)! Even spring in TX wasn't as strong "sun" that I remember. Anyway - yes, one of my upcoming purchases will be sunscreen to keep IN my travel tote! I do think we'll head back to AZ, but next time, maybe a hotel nearer to Grand Canyon, or other sights to see. Oh I need to learn how to override the software for Android Auto! I want Bluetooth to work, without EVERYTHING going through my phone!
OK I need to get moving here today. Trying to decide if I need a Wal-Mart/grocery run or if it can wait until tomorrow. I also need to get a few more loads of laundry done, and get the desk decluttered before it turns to a total chaotic MESS! LOL
Might check in later - enjoy a SIMPLE SUNDAY Ladies ♥hugs♥

Well....took 3 tries but I got the SA weather link to work!!
Christine....we only had one small shower for Hannah and Sarah....but couples had been living together like Ben and Carly and had a lot of basics....figured just close family and closest local friends.....Deb and I combine our lists of the important guest and it worked out fine....figured all the others had to opportunity if they chose to come to the wedding to get them something. Hannah's work place had a little shower for her....it's fine!! I bet we had at most 30-35 people at our shower and that was 2 families combined. 40 sounds like a lot to me for a shower that is primarily one side.
Gabrielle...I will admit that when I first started to try and improve my water intake years ago I put a pop up on my work computer every hour that just said "chug"! I would "snooze" it for a hour....it helped me get in the habit of taking some big swallows regularly....kind of like the reminder to get up and move every hour on my FitBit. I wonder if the reminder of a half day was but on a while back for something that eventually got canceled or changed and you just forgot to remove it! I say, 2 hours is NOT worth a 1/2 day PTO. Save it for another time. Speaking of PTO....you might have mentioned it already but when you retire to have to already have used all your PTO or do they "pay it out" to you in your final check?? In PA, they have to pay out all "earned" time at the time of your leaving....Sheridan will not let you take PTO to finish out your last week(s) so it you want to do that you have to come back after using it all and work 1 more day!! Kind of stinks but it's their policy and has been for YEARS!!
OMG Gabrielle...an hour late?? I don't get how doctors can be THAT late....I get it 5-10 minutes extra with a couple people through out their day but they have to catch up along they....I know my doctor only sees 3 patients an hour....they leave the last 15 minutes of each hour to "catch up"....she is rarely more then 5-8 minutes behind even when I get the last appointment of the hour!! Hopefully the doctor is right about it being a "gut thing" and the colonoscopy might have some answers for you. Jason has no family history of colon cancer but his dad had polyps and some were pre-cancer....Jason has to get one every 3 years now. I would rather they be proactive for sure. My cousin Lisa's husband died 8-9 years ago at 50 from colon cancer! He even had a family history of colon cancer and his doctor we NOT as proactive. Kind of a sad case. Yes, CA won't even notice this eclipse with the path going TX to Maine.
Well Gabrielle...I was getting decent rest until last night when I almost tossed Jason onto the floor....he has a head cold, thought it was allergies at first but seems to be more of a cold now.....sure hope it's cleared up by mid-week.....if it doesn't start to improve by Tuesday I will make him take a COVID test just to make sure....don't need him bringing anything to TX with us!!
Hi Jenny....yes, you life is usually pretty busy. I remember when you had the eclipse in 2017 (wasn't sure what year it was but knew it was 6-8 years ago)....we only got a small glimpse of it....maybe 20% if that. It was fun but this well be better for us! YAY for finally making solar power....is your program the same as Hannah's and David's....both of them "sell back" what they don't use some months and then get a check from the electric company every quarter I think.

Back again after making a nice "salad bar" for lunch....had all the usual ingredients plus chopped up some ham, bacon bits, cheese, crouton, etc....got a lunch packed for all 4 days this week.....now need to plan for breakfasts and some snacks. I was planning to make a big breakfast this morning but with Jason sick, he slept later than normal (at least he slept), Sarah is just exhausted as she now heads into week #4 of 5:00am starts....they are crazy busy at the moment and have even hired 15-20 new people in the last couple weeks.....seems crazy after them going through rolling 2 week lay-offs.
Carole...you weather in AZ sounds like it was perfect!! I think watching the eclipse from the hottub sounds like a perfect plan....you are at about the same as we are as far as % of viewing. Nope....don't feel the need to drive to Erie and all the chaos to see 100%. LOL...sounds like perfect planning to head out of the cowboy thing early....2 golf carts would be a lot of trips to shuttle 50+ people!! I love my massage table....it has a comfort memory foam topper so I don't get stiff when on my back....she also has a "warming pad" so on the chilly days it's nice and comfy!!
That was good thinking on Tracy's part to get you a gift certificate to a local place in Phoenix. Smart girl you have there!! Yes Carole...we ended up with over 4 inches total...thankfully the road flooding is not on my commute or Jason's....he can actually go 2 ways, 1 can be "iffy" with this much rain but the other way is fine....he opted for the one he knew would be fine. There was water/puddle on my commute but only inches.....very easy to take your time and drive through w/o issue! Everything is just really soggy now....will be a few days before farmers and gardeners will get into the ground....it is nice to see the lake up nice and high again....there is a wharf where they usually have the paddle boat rentals in the summer....it is 4 sections long and all 4 have been on the ground for the last couple summers, sometimes the 1st section will be a float but now the 4th was is just about level again.....that's a good way to start the season!! Now there are no spots that boats and pontoons can't travel....the only issue will be if we keep getting more rain and the lake gets too high, the fishermen in boats can't go under the bridges.....doesn't happen often but if it gets too high there isn't enough clearance!
Sounds like you are gathering some good info for your next trip to AZ.....always nice when you got the same place again, you learn the "dos and don'ts" for future visits!! Bummer you missed out on the train ride...at least you had something else to try out!! Yes, live and learn!!
Ah....peace and quiet!! Jason just left for another batch of wood chips for the blueberry and raspberry beds....he got the blueberries done yesterday but needs more for the raspberries....both like the acid soil and wood chips are recommended!! Sarah just left with the boys to go to Half Pint Creamery....they have an "eclipse special" today and tomorrow!! So the house is all mine.....
Karen....had to laugh at your "deep dive" into Isaac's room. I can just see you with the rope tied around you waist for safety and rescuing! LOL!! Bummer you missed out on kayak time but there is something about the big purging times too!! Hopefully it won't be too long until Isaac picks up his stuff and Tony's office can be relocated!!
Jo....sorry for another night of restless and painful sleep....hopefully it works itself out. Sounds like your meeting with Marissa went well. Thanks for starting us off on Thursday....glad the Tylenol did the trick and you got a restful night of sleep. YAY for being able to extend your stay until Saturday!! I forget....when do you leave??? Bummer you have to pay for parking for the company breakfast but it will be fun to visit with everyone and it's a free meal!!
Gabrielle....glad you opted to save your half day for another time....working until 3:00pm, then a call at 4:30 is a full day to me!! Glad the appointment with your GI doc isn't too far away....some doctors/consults are MONTH out....4/23 is pretty good in my book!! Yes, will be good to get his insight on your labwork at this point. LOL, yes, we all hope for a "normal" check up these days....I think it's part of getting older, knowing that things can decline with age and knowing what is "normal" and what is "concerning" in the aging process! So glad the rains were not expected to ruin Ed's race yesterday!!
Actually Gabrielle...I do like getting the massage first, then the pool...Holly works out all my kinks and my workout often feels more productive. I know, sounds odd but she loosens things up, I work hard in the pool then loosen back up in the whirlpool It actually works well for me!! Yes, we leave on Friday at 7:45am from BWI for San Antonio by way of Houston Hobby.....I know that airport well from our Galveston trip....wish we had a long enough layover to enjoy that place with the BBG baked potato....that was fantastic!! We are only in Hobby for 50 minutes so not enough time! I will actually head into work early on Thursday to check in....I think I already mentioned that I'm usually still driving at 7:45 so need too be at work before then....no biggie.....will leave 10 or so minutes early!!
Carole...sometimes just sitting in the sun and fresh air does make you tired....ah yes, remember that just because you can sit in the sun for an hour in western MA this time of year...the sun is NOT the same further south. Yes, as a skin cancer survivor.....sunscreen is a must!! We will pack some next weekend just in case we spend a period of time out in the sun....not exactly sure out much we will be out.....a lot of visiting with DM which will likely be inside depending on weather....not sure she has a place to sit outside at her facility! Will find out! Well, guess Tracy figured you would eat out a nice dinner at least once while you were there and not cooking in the entire time....if you're planning to come back again, it likely does not expire so it really wasn't a crunch to use it! Will say Carole...I do love to visit places with no souvenir shops....I love that low-key feel, not "touristy"!!
LOL...it was "Fred the baker" dragging himself out of bed eat morning to "make the donuts"!! That will always be a classic DD commercial!! Honestly I have never heard of or had frozen hot chocolate....the boys loved it and it was a fun "Grandpa and Boys" day!! If I remember right, isn't Shelburne Falls the place with the flower bridge and AWESOME Maple Soft Serve Ice Cream place on the way??
I will say Carole....we have always been pretty lucky with our regular check in seats....we are usually in the upper A's and low B's....since we don't go for window seats we get pretty close to the front usually....I honestly don't mind the wait getting off, for me it gives me a chance to stand up and stretch a little bit....only time it's a little hectic is with a short layover in a big airport....we fly through Atlanta coming home so that could be a bit more stressful with only an hour layover.
Yes Carole...ever since the first time we told IT that we had internet but no connection on our PC and that it was likely the firewall and they said "No, it's a Comcast problem"...so Comcast came, all was fine, they had to pay for a service call because it wasn't a Comcast problem and the firewall just needed a reboot...they come quickly now....we were up and running in 20-25 minutes....
Time to flip the laundry....will do one more load on Wednesday after work to make sure everything is clean for the trip and we have clothes for work on Tuesday when we get home. We should be in the driveway by 9:00-9:30...we land at 7:15 and the shuttle back to long term parking comes through pretty consistently every 10 minutes at that hour so all good!!
Will pop back in later....
