Good morning all! Grab some coffee and check on in β We may be getting heavy rains (or none at all) so who knows what we may see this afternoon. Are you in the path and what's your weather going to be like? πππππ
I am IN! Have a great day friends πππ

I'm in & heading to the grocery store soon. We're in the path of the eclipse. It's at maximum around 3:17 pm. Hope everyone has a good day.

I'm IN. I'm taking DGD to the ortho this morning and will be home when the eclipse arrives. We'll be at 95+% but, as DebDoesWW, said, we'll be cloudy and maybe raining. So, I'll wait for NASA to show us their official photos. Have a good day!

Here's what we are expected to see depending on cloud cover. 2:21 - Will be 20% coverage 2:44- 50% Coverage 3:06 - 80% Coverage 3:21 - 91% Coverage: This is the most coverage we will see 3:39 - 75% Coverage
We are taking the kids outside with special glasses from 3:00-3:30. I reassured the parents that if any of the kids won't keep their glasses on we will come inside and watch videos about the eclipse.
Although this will be a neat experience I must admit I'll be glad when it's done. I really don't understand some of the fear/panic that's going around. Craziness at the grocery store, lines at the gas pumps, people pulling their kids out of school, no one wanting to drive, etc.
I'm not sure if people are going overboard, or if I'm not worried enough. I'm a little worried that maybe I'm the one not taking it seriously enough. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens.

hpeterson1951, My husband and I cancelled our cat's vet appointment because it was right in the middle of the eclipse and neither one of us wanted to be driving while the heavy part was going on. The problem is you don't know what the other drivers are going to do. I read the statistics from an eclipse a few years ago and there was an increase in motor vehicle accident while it was going on. It's like driving in snow, you might be competent, but you don't know about the other drivers.

Oh, it is currently 66 in SW Connecticut and sunny with some clouds. We will get almost full coverage of the sun. My husband has his digital camera on a tripod with a larger monitor for us to watch. That way we won't be looking through a lens but at a video monitor.

Heather I assumed most of it was ridiculous panic for nothing but Judy brought up a great point about people not driving carefully during it. Maybe rubbernecking.
We only got 50% coverage but work had a viewing party with the special glasses. I got a couple of pictures where itβs obvious what the picture is of, using the glasses over the camera lens, but 99% of my pictures just look like a dark round sun. Still cool but no eclipse visible so I may have moved and ruined the focus.

We had about 95% coverage but with the heavy clouds and drizzling I had to watch TV to get the full effect. The pictures are really cool. Seeing the solar flares on the TV are amazing; I don't think you could see these with the naked eye. I'm glad so many people got to see this today. I hope it encourages students to study the sciences.

Well, I watched the eclipse. Four neighbors came over to watch on the video monitor. They all had glasses. A couple walking their dog stopped too so they could use the glasses and look at the monitor. I was surprised it didn't get dark. I thought it would which is why I was worried about driving.

bbbearsmom, I totally agree about watching out for other drivers. That makes a lot of sense.
