Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Ruth, so did you decide to just add a border to the afghan to straighten out the wonkiness of DD’s afghan? Yes, I know she will love it- it’s like getting a hug from her mom every time she uses it. I had great luck growing cilantro a few years ago (outside). It re seeded and came back the following year. The problem is that I do not like the stuff- but my Dd does. Rosemary is an interesting plant, i cannot grow it outside here, well I can but the plant will not survive a winter in my area, even cultivars that are supposed to be winter hardy. I have never attempted growing it from seed…
Got the quilt trimmed last night, with the assistance of a cat who kept sitting on it.
CJ- hope you slept well (you too Ruth!!). And that if any details of the house sale take place today that it all goes well for you.

Hello - Hope everyone is having a good day. The eclipse was really cool to watch on TV and my computer. It got a bit dimmer outside where I am, but nowhere near dark like it did in the total eclipse areas. I started sewing together the jelly roll strips for the quilt I've been working on today and hope to get them all sewn so I can cut them into pieces to make the blocks over the next few days. Hope you've been able to do some crafting too. Take care

For me the closest I got to crafting was….hanging out with grandkids and cleaning up after them! Guess that does not seem like much in the way of crafting, does it.
CJ- yes the eclipse was so cool to watch… I had a friend and a daughter of a friend from church who were both in the range of the total eclipse. Many areas were cloudy also..which described my general area. Good to hear that you were able to start working on the jelly roll strips in preparation for cutting and sewing the blocks. That pattern looks like a fun and not terribly complicated quilt top to put together I hope that you enjoy making that quilt and in listening to the joyous hum of your machine hard at work you can forget about some of the issues you are facing regarding your property sale. All in all, how are you finding living where you are now? It was a huge change for you, but I sincerely hope that it has gotten much easier for you and that you are comfortable with where you live.
Ruth, how was your day?? Guess you got to view the eclipse on the news…or the internet. So cool…
I babysat today, and got to take the little boys to their library program. A long day but not too bad a day.

Still a fairly cool day today and it was overcast so couldn't even see the 50% it was claimed we'd be able to see. That part was not very interesting anyway but seeing the completely total eclipse I was able to view back in 2017 really gave a person a feeling of awe.
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to get the boys to the library program. Introducing small children to the joys of reading introduces them to something they will enjoy their whole lives.
CJ, I'm glad to hear that you were able to get those jelly rolls sewn together and ready for cutting into appropriate sizes and shapes to make the block
I got my blanket done. I seem to have a lot of tension issues lately. The border did disguise the uneven part of the edge but it kind of pulls in some areas so I'm hoping that when dd washes it that it will straighten out. However it is an afghan and will be used to wrap around her or whoever picks it up at the time. Or if she even spreads it out on the back of her couch those issues won't show. I made her a prayer, hugs, and comfort shawl before her surgery a couple years ago and she takes it with her everytime she has to go to Denver for tests or procedures and even though she will be 50 next week she says it gives her "mommy" hugs.
Now I'm trying to decide which, besides dh's blanket, I want to work on next. I'm thinking of getting back to my teal gingham blanket, or doing a simple stitch blanket to get my confidence back. The part of the gingham that I have done looks amazing so hopefully I can keep that good work up and not mess it up.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today It was very warm here - in the high 70s. Ginny - I hope the boys enjoyed the library program. Ruth - Hope your DD likes her blanket. isillyme - Hope you are doing well. I only finished sewing half of the strips together the other day and haven't gotten back to them since, I hope I can do that tomorrow. I was out today running errands and going to check on my house. Take care

CJ, it's a lot of work and uses a lot of time to check on your house often but, of course, quite necessary. It adds to your peace of mind to see that everything is ok. I know you'll be happy to have all this finalized so that it's not your problem any more
I heard from my ds today and weather was great for them to see the sun in total eclipse for 4 whole minutes.
Ginny, I hope you're having a good day also.
Well back in the beginning of 2020 I was packing things to take to Indiana (which we never got to until 2022) and lost my toaster. Well dh did find it last night. I recently not only lost the blade to my really strong mini food processor but also the larger food processor I bought several years ago and never really used because it has a blade that's small and it's hard to open. I looked for it after I lost the blade for my other one. The other day I noticed a box on the top of shelves in my garage that said Oster. My fp was not Oster brand but I wondered if it was in there. Nope, it was the toaster. So toaster found and food processor still missing. (along with quite a lot of other things that mysteriously disappear. How things disappear like that is a mystery to me
Today I started a baby blanket with a yarn that I've had for years and years. It doesn't have a label but comes in a very large ball and is very textured and bumpy. It looks a lot like Lion's Homespun but it is not Homespun. It's hard to crochet with. Today, though, I found a pattern I thought would work ok with this yarn and it does so now I can use it up.
Have a good evening!

Good morning- and I am sorry for not getting here yesterday.
Ruth, glad you found an afghan that will use up the somewhat bumpy baby yarn. Homespun (or something similar) is a challenge to work with, or at least I think so. Your story about the missing toaster and food processor. That food processor is there….somewhere…Nice that your son and his family were able to get a perfect view of the eclipse. I know of several who travelled to get a better view and the picture Jane sent me of their view was breathtaking
CJ- at least the travel to the house is in more pleasant weather, and perhaps you can enjoy the ride. It’s a burden on you that is for sure, which will we all hope, be over with soon.
What a long day yesterday!! I slept very poorly Monday night and yesterday had a full babysitting day. The baby slept well for me, but was difficult getting to eat. Her brother refused to nap… and he needs a nap. DD just texted me that he seems to have a stomach bug, so perhaps that is why he refused to nap.
Ok gotta run to the store this am, but other than that I plan on having a nice peaceful day.

Good morning all. Still morning here and it's snowing but it won't stick because it's to get up to 48 later today and Day after tomorrow starts three days of low 70's before it gets back down once again
Ginny, Yes it does sound like you had a very busy day.Sorry the little fellow wouldn't nap and is now sick. I hope your day turns out as you want it to and you can have a day of r&r
CJ, I hope you're having a good day also
I did work on the bumpy yarn blanket but I also finally did our taxes.I have to find a new online tax prep site next year. The one I used and was so easy last year is now not so good

Hello - We have another really nice day here - temps in the high 70s and sunny. Ginny - Sorry to hear about the bad sleep and long day babysitting. I hope you get to relax this afternoon I understand about the bad sleep nights, I seem to have a lot of them these days. Ruth - I'm glad that the snow won't stick for you and hope you get some milder weather soon. I also hope you can find a good online tax preparation site for next year. I've been buying the H&R Block software for several years, so I'm used to that but I've heard there are several free ways to file taxes. That was a nice surprise to find the toaster, I hope your food processor turns up too. I understand about things going missing after packing. I'm still trying to figure out where I put the stopper that I place under my sewing machine pedal so the pedal won't slide. I really liked that and I can't figure out where I packed it Today is the first day in several days that I didn't get a migraine headache, so that has been nice. I wish I could figure out what triggers them, maybe it's the weather. Fortunately I can catch them before they get too bad and take some medication that helps. But once I've had one I don't feel like doing much else that day. I still need to sew together the rest of those jelly rolls strips, I had hoped to do that today, but so far haven't been able to get to them, maybe I can try in a little while. I did decide to start on a new embroidery piece for a pattern I've had for several years. I thought it might be nice to do something like that where I can just sit and stitch for a bit. I prepared the fabric for it today and I flattened the pattern (which was folded up), so now I just need to trace the pattern onto the fabric. It's a redwork piece, so I'm going to use red embroidery floss to stitch it. Here's the pattern: www.redworkplus.com/qbd/the-quilt-shopTake care

Back again……a productive day but I am tired. I got a real walk in this am, a quick trip to the store and then some of the wretched gardening. So my crafting for the day was measuring and cutting the binding for DGD’s quilt. Not much but its a start.

In a move, that makes no sense to me at all. I’m back, before I posted above. I refresh the page and it did not show that either of you two had been here. But once I hit the quick reply button, I saw that if you had been here.
Ruth, congratulations on getting your taxes done! I hope the next year you were able to find another online tax preparer that works out better for you. Honestly, it should be an easy process don’t you think? I don’t know why it has become so complicated. I do hope you can get some crocheting so that you can relax after doing your taxes.
CJ, Do you think that may be your migraines or allergy related? I do know that pollen is starting to come up from the south. With all you’ve been going through, it’s no surprise that you’re having problems with headaches, and I pray that the problem just goes away. Like Ruth food processor i’m hoping that the stopper shows up that you put under your sewing machine pedal! And the pattern that you’re going to be embroidering is very pretty and I’m sure you’ll do a great job! Also, it’ll probably be a very restful craft for you to do, something peaceful.
I took an Advil to take care of my achy body, and now I’ve got my feet up. Have a good night.

Am I really the first one to come back here?
I ended up last night coming down with the stomach bug that my grandson both have. I was pretty sick last night. That resulting I’ve not done much of anything today but I did sleep a lot. I think I’m getting better although I’m still not 100% I am glad tomorrow is Friday.
Ruth and CJ hope That you both had a good day.

OH, Ginny, I'm so sorry to hear that you caught the bug and were so sick. I hope you're feeling much, much better now.
CJ, I'm also sorry to hear that you've been suffering from those migraines again! I hope that they are gone now and you feel much better also
I've had a busy day. I started the day by searching for the registration for the vehicle I left in Indiana. I know I got the registration after we got home last year. Got it in August but now it's among the missing and I did not find it.So while I was searching among my paperwork I decided to organize it some so worked on that awhile. It's a moot point now anyway though because this all came about because ds messaged and said his dd #3 had her vehicle break down and it can't be repaired so he wondered if we would allow her to use ours. Of course we would but she would need the registration. I decided to just give it to her so I just need to get the title notarized and send it to her and she can take care of registering it there. Of course that will cost her money for registration, taxes and insurance but I'd guess she already has those on her present dead car.She has a good job in cyber security. She's really good at computer things. Then I had to find a paper for dh. I did find that.
Now it's late and I want to spend the rest of the evening crocheting. I ripped out the blanket last night because I didn't judge correctly on yarn usage so it was going to turn out a very wide but not high at all so like a long horizontal strip. I did get it restarted but not too much done. I really thought I'd be spending the whole day crocheting and have it done tonight.

Hello - Hope everyone is having some nice Spring weather. It's been a bit rainy here, but the temps have been good. Ginny - I'm sorry you have been sick with that bug, hope you are feeling better today Ruth - I'm glad things worked out with your car registration and that you can turn it over to your DGD. I know what you mean about going through a bunch of paperwork - it's time consuming. I hope the restarted blanket is working out well. You mentioned the bumpy yarn and I've found that when I do any crochet projects I really only like if the yarn is soft. I guess that's why the majority of the things I've made are baby blankets. I don't really care for the feel of that granny square yarn I bought recently. I was sick all day yesterday with dizziness and nausea (which I think was from the dizziness). I spent the whole day in bed and tried some motion sickness medicine and ginger nausea gum. In the afternoon I had some saltines and water and by late afternoon I was feeling better. I'm not sure if all these things - the migraines and being sick yesterday - are related to the weather, pollen or just something else. I do feel better today and I'm hoping I'll be fine this weekend. On Wednesday evening I did get all the strip sets finally sewn together so they are ready to cut up so I can start making the blocks for the quilt. I'm hoping to do that and get that embroidery pattern traced this weekend. Take care and have a good weekend
