Oh no, CJ, now you've been sick with something that probably isn't related to your migraines. I'm glad you were able to sleep a lot and feel better today. I'm sorry that you had a whole day that you couldn't do anything but rest and try to recover from whatever it was. I'm wondering if there's some illness going around that you somehow caught while out even though, like me, you don't have much contact with people.
We're having a really nice weather day today and will have two more days like this before it starts getting colder once again. It's just one of our fake springs.
I ended up not getting much at all done on the blanket. Yes this is yarn I've had for years and decided just to try to use it. I'll probably give it to one of the great granddaughters here for them to use for their dolls. I have a couple Cabbage Patch dolls that belonged to my dd who is their grandmother. I want to make clothes for them and give them to the two girls.Between them and the new little granddaughter I'll be making a lot of doll clothing.

CJ- So sorry to hear that you were not feeelingwell…but I am glad to hear that you have improved. Being dizzy and nauseous is no fun… I wonder if the stress of what you are going through with the house sale might be a contributing factor. it’s a very very stressful period of time for you. Good to learn that you got the strip sets sewn together- hopefully you are able to get to cutting those pieces and actually assembling the quilt.
Ruth, it’s such a drag having to search for paperwork….but I am glad to hear that your vehicle can help out your DGD. (The same thing happened with my mom’s car which we were able to let Ds use when his car failed). Sounds like a good idea to give that yarn to a granddaughter, so she can practice.
Ok, not sure what is going wrong but this site keeps jamming and I lose words I have typed. I am feeling better…and very glad its Friday

Good afternoon or in your cases good evening.I hope you both are feeling better and having a good day. It's just my kind of weather here today. Nice and sunny and almost 80 degrees. I'd love having this weather all year.
Ginny, I forgot to tell you that you were right. You've always said that the toaster would turn up in my house. Well it wasn't exactly in the house. The other day I mentioned that dh found it in the garage but it was here. Unfortunately I think that when I thought I'd never find it again I may have disposed of the crumb trays. I think that a piece of aluminum foil or parchment paper under the toaster would work or maybe a small cookie sheet but actually I don't really see us going back to using that one and I'm glad we didn't take it to Indiana. It would have been way to big. There definitely is not much counter space in a small camper.
I was going to get back to working on dh's blanket but then I couldn't find it. I finally did find it though so that might be my evening activity. And speaking of blankets, Years ago I bought a bunch of kits from Herrschnerr's. Most of them I didn't like much after they got here so I took the yarn out and added it to my other yarns. However there's been one kit I saved in my craft room so I got it out today. The problem is twofold. First is that the yarn is a #2 weight. Next problem is that the pattern's been in that plastic all this time and I guess the heat must have caused the damage....you can't read the pattern because the pages stuck together and all the printing is transferred onto the print on the page facing so all the directions are on top of each other...hard to explain. I'll try looking up a similar pattern or use the yarn for something else and might even crochet it with two strands held together. It won't be enough for even a baby afghan but maybe I can make a car seat blanket. If that fails I can make hats with it. I'm sure the yarn is discontinued by now. It's really soft yarn.

well I looked up the pattern and of course Herrschners won't give you the pattern from a kit and most likely don't even have it anymore. I looked up similar ones and didn't care for them so you'll think I'm crazy but I thought about the pattern I was using 52 years ago to make a afghan for my cousin's expected baby. Never did finish it and I think I finally got rid of that yarn or used it but I still have the pattern so I started it. It's a very vintage pattern. Don't know if I can explain it well but one row is a shell, then next row is a shell make upside down into the shell in the previous row. They're awfully pretty. Mine will be green and yellow with white.Usually such thin yarn and an F hook will take me some time.

Good morning!
Ruth said, is quite a saga about the pattern, although you did a good job of explaining how the pattern just became unreadable because of the paper it was printed on and how it was stored. It’s disappointing that Herrschnerrs would not provide you with the pattern, but I don’t even know if these companies, actually keep track of products that they used to manufacture a kit. It’s not a surprise to me that they couldn’t or would not give you the pattern. What I did find really interesting. Is your comment on vintage crochet patterns, have crochet patterns changed over the years? I don’t do that much crocheting so That’s not something. I’m really on top of. Regarding your toaster first of all, I’m glad you found it! I don’t believe I would use parchment paper underneath it, I think the top temperature range for parchment paper is around 425 but with a toaster, you have the potential for a , an exposed electrical element and if the parchment paper stuck to the electric element could cause a fire. I would be much more tempted to go to dollar tree and try and find a disposable aluminum tray or possibly even a loaf pan cut the sides of the loaf pan down and see if that will fit underneath your toaster . Those I think would be more suitable. But you said you’re probably not gonna use that toaster anyway.
CJ, I guess you had a busy day yesterday, like me you didn’t join us yesterday and I hope that you had a good Saturday.
I’m still not 100% from that stomach virus I had but I am getting better. Yesterday, my youngest daughter came over with her two little ones and spent a few hours here which was good to see them. I also got some housework done. Later on in the day, I managed to get the binding strips attached to each other and started to see how they will lay going around the quilt, if you haven’t done that before it’s important to see that the seems in the binding don’t fall on the corners of the quilt. And doing so I realize that I miscalculated , the number of binding strips that I needed so I had to cut another one last night. Of course that’ll be easy to add on because nothing is showing in place yet. Later on today, I’ll attach that other binding strip and then actually attach the binding to the baby quilt. So this is the beginning of the end. I will be attaching the binding using the machine on both sides so that it can be washed because it’s a quilt for a child. Speaking of machines I wonder where mine is. I’m expecting that I’ll have mine back this week.
I’ll check in later! Have a blessed day.

Ginny, it's so good to see you here and I hope we see CJ also. I'm sorry you're still not feeling 100%.It sounds like you got a lot accomplished even though you didn't feel well.I hope your machine is back and in good running order this week
People on YouTube and in crochet groups talk a lot about vintage crochet patterns. When I say mine is a vintage pattern I mean that I haven't seen a pattern for that in years. This one was copyright 1969 and I bought it in 1972. They also refer to afghans that are ripple mostly in orange, yellow, and brown as vintage and I do remember making one for my mom in those very colors. The vests everyone crocheted back in the 60's and early 70's are considered vintage also as are certain baby items esp certain bonnets.
This week and next are both going to be busy ones for me. This week I have quite a few errands to run so will be going somewhere 4 our of the 5 week days and next week two doctor appointments and whatever we have to do after that appointment to get ready for dh's surgery. Right now I'm not happy with our PCP. Dh had those bloods teats done on the 4th and we were told that we had to wait until the 30th to actually go to the office and get the results. Well if any are abnormal enough that it might cause a delay in surgery I'd like to know before we see the Neuro so that we don't waste his and our time. I tried to leave PCP a message but you would think that I was trying to leave a message for the president of the country.I was on hold forever three times for over 20 minutes twice and got nothing accomplished.
I have a lot of paper work to do today.
Have a great day

Hello Ruth - I'm glad you can make something with the older yarn, it sounds pretty. I think things made with the shell stitch look really nice. I'm glad you had some nice warm weather too I'm sorry you and your DH have to deal with frustrating medical providers, it seems that a lot of them are this way now. I hope everything over the next few weeks go well for you. Ginny - Hope you continue to improve and that you do get your machine back soon. I'm glad you are almost finished with your quilt The weather has been really nice this weekend. I went up to my house yesterday morning and everything was alright there. I was able to see my lilac bush blooming. It's very old, over 60s years old, and I only get a few flowers each year but at least I was able to see and smell them for the last time. I took a picture too. I haven't gotten back to my quilting yet. I made a mistake cutting the pieces for this quilt so I'll lose one row from the quilt, but fortunately I have enough correct to make 6 rows (instead of the 7 in the pattern). I've still been getting some slight headaches and I also have problems with my ears. I'm thinking I might need to see an ENT specialist because the ears could be causing the headaches and problems associated with that. Who knows! Take care

Ruth, those colors you described sure do sound like colors from the 70’s….and yes I have an afghan made by my mom with that color scheme. How insanely frustrating that you are stuck on this medical merry go round with Dh’s testing and doctors visits. Your questions are valid and it would be so helpful to have those bloodwork results sooner as opposed to later. Sorry your week is going to be so very busy- I am sure you have a good portable crochet project to work on in waiting rooms.
CJ- so sorry that you are still not feeling 100%. I have heard of individuals waiting for a LONG time to get to see a specialist, and wonder if your PCP might be a better place to start so you are not waiting forever. Regarding that lilac, is there a sucker that you can dig up from it and have your brother plant it at his house? That would be a nice way to keep the family heirloom lilac in the family…and if you buy another home you could transplant that sucker. That stinks that you had an issue cutting for the quilt, but losing one row does not sound like it’s a problem. I know the quilt will be gorgeous anyway, you always do such a nice job.
Got to church this am….and then did some yard work after church. (You know how much I dislike yard work). But it feels good to get some of this done now while the soil is still moist, it’s easier to pull the weeds. I did come in and make dinner for tomorrow (had some ground turkey that I had to use today and made meatballs) and then got most of the binding attached. I have to join the ends…and turn it over to the front to attach it there. That will have to be for another day.
Have a good night and hope that you both sleep well!!
