We did enjoy our meal. I decided to try their country fried chicken and loved it! BUT it was huge and covered the whole plate so had plenty to bring home. Got mashed potatoes and salad with it. Had french dressing as haven’t had that in a long time and it was very good as well. We got rattlesnake bites and brought some of them home as well. Fred encouraged me to get their strawberry cheesecake to bring home and that was a big disappointment as it was just a plain cheesecake with a little cup of strawberry sauce but no actual strawberries or whipped cream like it shows in their picture. But even though that was a disappointment the rest of the meal was delicious and I would definitely get it again. I often wonder how they get their salads so cold as I’m sure that adds to the taste of them. The only thing I ever get through is the salad and always need a take home box so ask right at the beginning of my meal for them to bring one.
Fred is getting an oil change on the Volvo this morning and that’s the only plan.

Good Morning Friends! Today I was able to get a massage appointment to make up for the one I cancelled April 30. I am going with friends to Mirada Lagoon. Last year it rained when we went but we still had fun. After my massage I am going to lunch at Florida Avenue Brewing Company. I had to cancel my Stretch class to accommodate my massage, which is really okay since I teach yoga tonight. Sharon, There are lots of options for making a cookbook. I particularly liked this one: createmycookbook.com/c/quick-giftsIf I was still working at the law firm I could bind one for you. That was the awesome perk of working there. I loved using the binding machine. It was pretty easy. I loved Joan's ideas yesterday, too.

Play along if you so choose to. This one is pretty easy. Go with your gut instinct and don't overthink it!! Lol..
The twist to this game is that all the answers sound as if they're just one or two letters long. For example, the plural of "is" - R (are). A disreputable hotel - C, D (seedy).
1. Actress Ruby
2. For what reason?
3. It's not a bluebird, but it's a blue bird
4. Television's top reward
5. Not filled or occupied
6. To be jealous of someone's luck or possessions
7. Sheriff Andy Taylor's TV son
8. Exxon's previous name
9. To perform exceptionally well
10. Pasta in the form of tubes

I have done my dinner theater order for 8 shows and put it in the mailbox. I tried to write as legible as I could and that is done now. People will be standing in line there now and it can be done on line for the first time but I did the mail in. I now have a stress headache. I should get the dates I picked since I am back in section D . I need to fix breakfast so waving

Greetings: Going to lunch with our Tucson friend shortly. Mexican.
Joan, your friend probably has a wealth of reference material for you. You're in good shape for your event! Be sure to tell us about it.
I haven't done the quiz yet. I wanted to at least get a quick message out.
Ruth, i thought you and Mike were taking up camping and tramping all over Florida and other places. Looks like a nice "house" for such activity. Sharon said so.
I'm really proud of Bill and how he's taken on a renewed concern for his diabetes. I think the motivation comes from not wanting to take shots. I'm a little concerned that he's on two pills for it and I'd like to see him get down to one, but I'm happy. The nutritionist calls are good. He can' ask her questions and she has lots of suggestions for him. She is suggesting things he doesn't like -- like hummus and black beans! She's going to send some recipes for desserty type things. He really is missing desserts. She suggests using whole wheat flour, which I planned to do along with flax, which will be something new to experiment with.
It's heading for mid-50s here today. Still pretty cool.
Sharon, your cookbook sounds like fun. I came up with a few things yesterday on the internet, but they were for bigger books. Glad Ruth found some resources for smaller publications. Of course, you could gather recipes from everyone and put them in the book for her.
Glad all had a reasonable eclipse experience based on location. The diminished light during the day was cloud-like, but somehow different.
My appointment with the eye doctor was good. He said my eyes continue to be stable. The right lens is getting cloudy. I can't tell because it's coming so gradually. My right eye needs a new Rx, but I knew that. So, the next visit in August he'll "polish" the right lens and give me the name of an optometrist in my area. I guess he's had enough patients asking for referrals. In past years, he's not suggested anyone, but now he's doing that.
Costco after lunch. Bill's got a couple fo things ata Costco to buy. He's not a dark chocolate person but she recommends it. One of the "treats" she suggests is a mix of dark and sugar-free chocolate dribbled over sweetened coconut and mixed in with berries. So, I think we're going to explore for that chocolate. Not at Costco unless we want pounds of it, but I'm curious what it'll taste like.

Joan, This is the only one I missed as it is Canadian gas and I had never heard of it. Cute quiz. I don't know where you find them but they are fun.

Karen, Ha! Ha! Mike's idea of camping is staying at the Holiday Inn instead of the Hilton. LOL He can't sit around campfires and bugs love him. But he is taking to camping with his son up in Old Town pretty well. I for one always loved camping. I was a Girl Scout and a Girl Scout leader. My brother and sister, inlaws and friends and their families used to camp at Lazy River Campground when the kids were young all summer every year. There was so much to do. Before Jaimie was born we had a tent camper. When Jaimie was born we got a small Jayco camper. Camping in a camper was much more fun that in a tent on the ground but I have done lots of both. Eveen Wasband #2 loved camping and we went often. He and I camped across the country on our trip to South Dakota. We even got stuck in a torrential rainstorm and ended up sleeping in the truck one night. My favorite camping trip with him was in Ontario, Canada at a Grand Bend Beach on Lake Huron. The campsite was in the woods but the beach of Lake Huron was much like a beach at the ocean.

Yesterday's solar eclipse was spectacular. The weather cooperated and we ended up with a sunny 75 degree day. We all kept the glasses on until the moon completely blocked the sun and then we were able to take them off and look directly at the eclipse. With the glasses on, everything was black, but when you took the glasses off, you saw the sun blocked out and all around the edges was this beautiful corona. It got very dark and quiet and the temperature dropped around 10 degrees. This was definitely a once in a lifetime event.
My company made good time coming down and didn't run into too much traffic. They stayed off the interstate and took a longer route that went through small towns instead. Going home was a different story since the majority of people were leaving around the same time. They had much more traffic headed home and it took them almost twice as long.
Sharon, Amazon has a variety of recipe binders. You can write out the recipes in your own handwriting and that would be a wonderful gift.

Well a good meeting this morning and I redeemed my bad food week enough that I'm am still under goal. Yesterday I did eat but sparingly and made sure there was no salt intake unless it was in the bread I had for toast. Only up .01# over last week at this meeting, will see what tonight’s scale has to say. I will eat better this week although my brothers and sisters are coming here on Saturday for the March Birthdays. I can control some of the food, not all. Although I did see my youngest sister suggested KFC, I told her I think it’s too expensive so we will see.
Yesterday afternoon I picked up the little wagon full of sticks and put down two bags of mulch. The only way I can burn the sticks is break them up and burn them in my steel barrel. That heavy winter snow really did a number on my trees and shrubs. Broke off a lot. Two pieces I didn’t get moved yesterday but to figure out how to get them into smaller pieces.
So happy I could enjoy the Eclipse yesterday from the comfort of my own home, no traffic or crowds of people. No it wasn’t total but pretty close. I enjoyed it.
Might as well tell you up front I am no good at the word games/quizzes. I don’t do any of them.
Need to put my groceries away. And figure out what I want for supper. At least there is no candy in the house and I didn’t buy any today. Been making some Jello every few days. I froze part of the Angel Food cake I baked for Sunday. Have a new cake type recipe I want to make for our gathering Saturday.
One of Steven’s feed customers gives me a hug every time he sees me. Today At Fareway grocery store he was in his pickup and when he saw me he shut off the motor hopped out and met me on the sidewalk with a hug. Then asked if I have considered reopening the Cafe in Rose Hill, I said “ I will be 81 in , no I don’t believe so. He said age has nothing to do with it. These young people amaze me.

Karen E the fellow must have enjoyed and missed your cafe. A nice compliment.
Thanks for the gift recipe suggestions.
Joan I got them all correct. Don gave me the answer to #8. Cute quiz.
I got in a quick walk this morning.
This afternoon I had my appointment with the ENT Dr. for my coughing. I was numbed and he looked at my throat and sinuses. I gave him the whole history. Since there was nothing wrong in the sinus area he left me with a possible diagnosis of Sensory Neuropathic Cough. In other words I cough more easily than everyone else. I’m not sure I want to persue that but will do a little research. I’d have to travel to a Laryngologist. Sigh.
Ruth does Mike have a vehicle to tow the travel trailer? I assume in addition to water and electric for Mike’s camper there will also be a dump for the tanks. Otherwise he’d have to tow it to a dump site.

Hey ladies. Hope you had a good day and for those that did the quiz, enjoyed doing it. As long as Flo, DH's cousin sends them to me, I will post them.
Sharon, you'll have to show us what you decide on for the recipe book. Lots of good ideas out there. Not sure about your diagnosis but I guess it's something to start with. I believe you've determined it's not a new allergy.
Karen, I gave the Tea Magazine info to Tammy. I'm sure she'll find some ideas there. Yes, she has a wealth of info to work with and knowing her, has too many ideas to implement!! Thanks again.
Wishing everyone a great Wednesday. Night

Cute quiz, Joan. I missed ziti. Just didn't think of it as I went through tubular pasta names in my mind. Ruth, Esso was very popular in the U.S. And it was publicized when they changed its name. Exxon is sold all over the US. Surprised they don't have any near you.
Karen, I am going through something very similar with Tom. I have mentioned his severe discomfort from neuropathy before. I just discovered that he had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic a few years back. He will be going to get his blood checked soon. It is very possible that his neuropathy is caused by diabetes. He is working very hard on eliminating as much sugar as he can from his diet right now. Success so far. I am proud of him as well. Having had to lose over 100 pounds, I know how much it takes to change your eating habits and sugar is addictive. Kudos to both men.
Re camping, I loved it too. My first husband and I camped out on LI NY at Hither Hills twice, once in a tent pre-daughter and once with her and her baby sitter in the kind of camper you attach to the back of the car. We had a blast. Mort and I used to backpack into Bear Mountain State Park in NY and sleep in a tent. Mort was very experienced and that was fun too. Except that one of my colleagues told me (jokingly, of course) before the first time we went that I should watch out for the killer raccoons. In the middle of the night I heard rustling sounds and whispered to Mort that there were animals outside. Of course there are, he said. We are in the middle of the woods! I shined my flashlight and there were 20 sets of raccoon eyes staring back at me. Mort calmed me down and when we awoke the next morning we discovered that we were surrounded by deer having their morning snacks. Beautiful. The spot we camped at had a diorama in the Museum of Natural History in NYC at that time.
You are fortunate that you experienced a total solar eclipse, Vicki! I am thinking that if I am well I would like to travel to Spain to see the next one there in 2 years. I would have to make reservations soon but, as you said, it would be a once-in-a-lifetime event. I loved what I saw here as the weather was gorgeous. But we only got 70%.
The Women's seder was just delightful today. Each table was dedicated to a Jewish woman in history who has done something special and a member from the board headed the table and read something about the woman. I had Hedy Lamarr, who was a scientist in addition to being a pretty face. Her invention (co-invented with someone else) is the basis for GPS, secure WiFi, and Bluetooth technologies. One of the tables was dedicated to a woman who was very active in the Sisterhood for a long time. I was touched by that. I took a neighbor who has not been to a seder in years and she enjoyed it as well.
Tomorrow AM I am going to see my eye doctor. My eye is bright red from the iris in towards my face. I thought I had dreamt about feeling a burning sensation in my eye but it must have really happened. It is also a check-up after my cataract surgery months ago. Tom will drive me in case they have to dilate my pupils.
Early in the afternoon I have my film class.
I will check in later in the day.
