Good Morning Sue, Thanks for starting us off this morning ☼ We are in for another nice spring day! Yesterday we reached 72 degrees!! WOO HOO!!! Until the eclipse! LOL Then it cooled off a full 10 degrees, and never warmed back up!!
SO... TAKE CHARGE TUESDAY... SO... a reminder for myself... 1.) Greatly decrease alcohol
2.) Track daily, being mindful of my macros
3.) Make movement a daily habit
4.) Be thankful each and every day ♥
Heading out shortly to pick up taxes, get injections, then hit Big Y for a few items that were out of stock at Wal-Mart. Then home, and the other contractor is coming around noon to look at the kitchen.
Christine: Sorry you had clouds - we were perfect, but it was a bit disappointing after all the hype! It was kind of neat to see the difference in sunlight, although we never got the darkness I expected. The CHILL was weird. We did go to the fairgrounds and sat on the bleachers, perfect view - but quite ANTI-climactic, IMHO! Whatever, it's over. It also messed with my prepping! SO I have to finish that today as well!
Sue: I was (also) disappointed that the pictures, through the glasses, didn't show the coverage! I took several throughout the whole thing and they all look exactly the same!
Jenny: How cool that NASA TV showed the eclipse. I bet they got GOOD pictures of it all! LOL Good news from the doctor!! Yeah all the WL meds/shots, etc., are crazy!! I'll pass too... not worth the side affects, for me.
OK Time for coffee... and breakfast, then will head out.
♥hugs♥

Good morning!
Well, by the time you may have figured out that I didn't join the group to run today. DH is taking a few days to rest his leg and I didn't get home from my haircut until 8:15 pm!! He was running late (my appt was actually on Wed and he texted me a couple of weeks ago and moved it to Monday) and another person was there at the same time. I am glad to have it done, but it made for a long day....and on a Monday, ugh. Tonight I have to present at a local Board meeting (a superintendent's request) so another night out. But the good news is that we just booked our last two places (in Montreal and Quebec) for our New England adventure in September! We have booked all of our accommodations and now I am getting excited! The places in Canada were all in french so had to be translated....we are excited now!
Sue: Thanks for getting us going. It sounds like you all had a good view of the eclipse--nice! I hope that the boys got a good look at it and that you had a decent work day yesterday. I can see why Sarah is getting tired though...so much overtime! It sounds like someone at the place has poor planning skills in terms of making decisions about layoffs, etc. It's hard to imagine that all of this is saving them money. Hoping that you have a good day--thank you for posting the picture of the eclipse.
Carole: It sounds like you have some meals planned---nice! Did you get your bento boxes prepped? I am hoping to be organized like that in retirement but I am not making any promises, LOL. You are on "Meg and Gigi's Great Canada/New England Adventure" - September 29th -- meeting us in Woodstock! We look forward to seeing you! I hope that you might consider Palm Springs---we love it there. It is shockingly hot in the summer though (to where you don't do a lot in the middle of the day but stay in air conditioning or the pool) but the night time is great--golf courses and places are lit up to be used. You can take the tram up to the mountains (not super mountainous) and it is cooler there--great to hike around on trails. I do hope to meet you there one day. I hope that you have a nice, calm day today!
Jenny: Yay for a good check up and your colonoscopy scheduled. That must be great peace of mind! Hoping that your week is going well. Is the birthday celebration this weekend? We now have rain coming in Saturday afternoon. We will enjoy the sun while we can though. Have a good day!
Christine: What a bummer about the cloud cover! There is definitely nothing to be done about it though, right? I love the photos of Gary and Carly in the backyard...it looked like you had a good viewing spot there. And you got some reports done--yay! I hope that today is a good, productive day for you.
Hello to Jo and Karen....hope that the back-to-school is going well, Karen. I will try to pop in later but it is looking to be a full day today. We will see. Have a good one!

Afternoon all...a quiet house again!! Boys are with Josh, Jason is either still at work or at the lot, likely until close to dark and Sarah just left to hang out at the lake until she has to get the boys at 8:00....so I can catch up...sitting here with the windows open and the smell of freshly spread manure is drifting in...it's spring!! YAY!!
Work has been crazy busy this week....Johns Hopkins Press hadn't sent in their weekly orders since late February because they were updating there system...on Friday they sent in the labels for March.....almost 1,600 orders to process....YIKES!! Tonya got them printed on Friday afternoon and I got them sorted OSUP, PSU, JHUP Friday and then started on them yesterday....I got the OSUP and PSU done after I got the time cards done, then started on JHUP....I had other orders that I get done because they came in after 4:00pm on Friday but still had the 4/5 date.....they need to ship before any of the manual orders from Hopkins....I've put a dent in them but still have quite the pile to finish....I'm hoping to get them finished by tomorrow afternoon....there are some that are all for the same journal so they all go on one pick list but I have to sort by destination for the order....one today was 539 on one list but still took almost 2 hours to sort, organize and process....I know there is at least one more like that in the pile...otherwise orders have been light so fingers crossed I can take care of them tomorrow and put that task behind me....hoping that we will be back to the weekly batches next week....it's much easier to manage!!
Never got back here last night....original plan was to come home to make the boys the "breakfast for dinner" originally planned for Sunday that got postponed....then because of the eclipse, Colton's make up game from last week, the game was postponed an hour later until the eclipse was over so Jason was going to go to that after work (he worked late and the extra hour made it possible, Sarah took the boys to see the game, then football sign ups for Jackson this fall...then to Half Pint Creamery for the Eclipse special....they thought it was Sunday and Monday but it was only Monday so they had to go back....I opted to head to the pool instead, didn't want to hang out for over an hour until the game started and I'm not heading home until after the game would have been started. Once I got home, I just was puttering and finally dropped into the recliner just before everyone got home and chaos began!!
Now I have time AND peace and quiet to catch up w/o distractions.
Gabrielle....first off, snow this time of year seems late for you.....not late for Carole, Christine or even me some years but again the "sunny California" pops in my head and I don't think snow in April out your way! Have to laugh at the panic of some of your staff....yes, I'm sure you are glad to get away from the crazy "drama" situations...yes, we were the same....low 40's last week...today it was 77 degrees when I came out of work, tomorrow is low to mid 70's again.....crazy weather....I will say that after we get back from TX it's looking pretty consistent in the mid 60's here which is normal....I broke out my capris for Saturday for my pedicure and this week too!! Will need them and shorts for TX!!
Christine....I had seen and heard that Pittsburgh was "under water" in some areas....hopefully the water has subsided. We are expecting more rain the next couple days but NOT the amounts like last week...only a half inch to an inch over all 3 days....much better then 4 inches....yes, like Fulton County the rains just kept coming and coming....was finally good to see some sunshine!!
Christine....many people are opting for the small or "fake" cake to cut for pictures and then sheet pans for the guests.....it really is a lot of waste. We lucked out with both girls....Miss Jill (Y family friend who loves to do cakes for former gymnasts) made Hannah and Shea's cake as a wedding gift.....and Josh's sister's MIL made cakes and did theirs as a wedding present too....I have heard of people that have what looks like a BIG cake but there is actually only 1 cake tier to cut for pictures....the rest is just a frosted cake form. Saves a lot of $$ and wasted expensive cake....sheet cakes are much cheaper and honestly, "cake is cake" and a low budget sheet cake tastes the same anyway!! Hopefully you can find a reasonable priced option for Carly and Ben....still annoyed the Ben's mom backed out.....just don't get it!! Hope Carly and Ben are getting the registry figured out....will say that registries are a great idea instead of the days when you got multiple of the same item....my cousin Tom and his wife Liz got 7 grills because they got married in May and it seemed practical....Jason and I got 5 cheese boards.....NONE I ever used!! Two we actually "regifted" to two of Jason's coworkers that got married the spring after our November wedding.....those ones that were popular with the round cutting board and dome glass lids...we added a gift card to somewhere practical for the couple.
Gabrielle....thanks for starting us off on Saturday....you were up bright and early for sure....since Ed had had some issues from the last run, probably nice he opted to run with the slower friend.....yes, I remember you mentioning before how long a day it is to "crew" a race....YAY for no rain, I'm sure the cooler temps are better for a run but a 34 degree start is a bit chilly in my world....running in mid-50's sounds much better.
Yes Gabrielle...I loved my "self care day".....Holly definitely worked out a lot of kinks and I have already scheduled my next 2 massages...one is the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend and the next is the last Saturday of June...my "birthday massage"....I'm hoping to schedule once a month for now it's 4-6 weeks apart....this last one was 8 weeks....might explain the "kinks"!! LOL!! As you know, I got the pedicure but I did not get to swim...the pool was close because of capacity....they have a 1 lifeguard to 25 people and they had 2 life guards and a ton of people so they had to limit people coming in at that point.....it wasn't a nice day to be outside so I'm guessing people hit the Y and the pool....no biggie, I just hit Sam's instead and got home to get the chickens picked and the Chicken Divan prepped....was bummed but it's not the end of the world!
Yes, Gabrielle...a lot of people are opting for a cake to cut for pictures but then other desserts for the guests....will say I'm NOT a cake person so that would be my choice...I rarely even taste wedding cake....usually my piece goes to Jason....he loves cake! I've been to 2 weddings....one cut a pie and the other a cheese cake...neither the bride or groom liked cake and they decided that it was their day and they would have a dessert they liked!! Makes sense to me that on one of the biggest days of your life you should have the dessert you want, not a cake because it's "tradition"!!

Carole....glad the slight delays weren't too bad...with 2 delays, getting home only 35 minutes late isn't too bad. I have had a few MUCH worse!! Did still make for a late arrival home in the wee hours of the morning but hey, it was Saturday and you could sleep in and even if was a Monday....you are retired so could still sleep in! YAY for the taxes being done....hope you at least break even or get a little refund. Our refund was small but got it in less than a week! Crazy....we have never gotten it that fast! We actually have gotten our state refund back already too....
Oh my Carole...sorry the sunburn is causing issues with not only your skin being burned but he swelling of your ankles...yes indeed, live and learn....sunscreen is a must this time of year when you head a bit south!! Hope by now the ankles are better and you aren't peeling too much....I would be peeling like crazy....maybe that's why I now have the occasional basal cell carcinoma spots....
LOL Carole...I think we ALL agree that Gigi needs to take those PTO hours!...ESPECIALLY on a Friday....no one should have to work THAT late on a Friday!! I know I don't use them on a whim, just because I have them...but I don't hesitate to take mine when needed. Just so you know, I will be canceling my dermatologist appointment on April 24th because my eczema is much better but it's late April and the weather should be great so I'll just hit the pool early, come home and enjoy the extra hours off. Now, if it's going to be an ugly day, I will just work because I'm not wasting 2 hours just to be lazy in the rain but as long as the weather will be nice....it will be a short day for me! LOL!!
Christine...thanks for starting us off on Sunday.....LOL, dishes can always wait in my world...that and laundry!! Glad you "sort of" had time to work on your contract reports! Yes, sometimes we really do need simple....How fun to watch Carly and Gary chat....I love the times when Jason is just hanging out with one of the girls.....they used to be looking at him as the "king"....then the years go by and things change...love those sweet moments of dad and daughter time! Yes, I'm with you...the visiting is the most important part for sure!! Surprisingly, I knew it was opening day of trout...it's been on the news here all week! LOL!! Honestly had to chuckle that Lindsey's "friend" doesn't do parents!! Sounds like he might have been burned in the past???
Bummer your weather in the 100% coverage path has crappy weather and we only getting 93% have great weather for the eclipse. I know if I was someone who traveled and spend LOTS of money to be there for the total eclipse didn't get to enjoy the whole thing...yes, you got darkness but didn't get to see the process over the hour in and out of the total!! I will say, it was a "weird daylight" when we hit the 93%...yes, it was still light but it looked like a storm was coming...while not he full experience, it was pretty cool!! Max coverage was about 3:20 here!!
You sounds like me Christine when I make meatballs...if I'm making homemade meatballs I'm making A LOT of them so I have leftovers for other meals later....I love when the tomatoes are in full swing to make homemade sauce and a bunch of meatballs for the freezer for over the winter....
HAPPY BELATED 90th to your Aunt Marion!! I wonder why Virginia doesn't like her older sister....Sounds to me like Marion is sweet and loving....honestly, who cares if she's prettier, doesn't take care of her health (OK, she's 90, she has to take decent care of herself) and if her relationship with her husband worked, what difference does it make?? I agree, the excuses are odd and don't make sense!! LOL, maybe Carly is right and Virginia was NOT invited if she has made known to many that she doesn't like her sister!! Glad you popped in to visit...I'm sure you Aunt loves that you do NOT hold the same ill feelings that your DM does!
Jenny....sometimes the best laid plans of getting things done at home, just doesn't happen!! I know DM is happy for the help getting ready for DD birthday celebration and relives coming!! YAY for a pedicure....a little bit of heaven in my world. You mentioned an umbrella and I'm looking for table/chair/umbrella combo for our patio out back...any suggestion?? I know what you mean about the phones being "big"...I always tell the person at the store I don't want a "tablet"...I want a phone. I have a 14....opted for that because the 14+ was too big....not sure why they think "bigger is better"?? I do know, getting new phones connected to the car Bluetooth can be interesting...took a couple tries with my 14....technology!!
LOL Christine...as you mentioned Carly wanting to "touch and feel" things it made me laugh! I had my own apartment and Jason of course was married, divorced and had his stuff...his silverware is crap!! He knows that when he sets the table he better give me MY silverware!! It's a "feel thing"!! Honestly....I say Amazon all the way...you can get anything on Amazon and the last baby shower I went to they had the item listed and also gave an Amazon link.... Yes, like Logan mentioned, you need to sometimes think outside your current situation and what your short turn life might be....many couples start in an apartment and in a year or so are furnishing a house....something to think about if they know they have the option to store things at your house....hopefully Carly will keep that in mind!!
OK...starting to fade...sweet dreams all...Jason got home and chatty and Sarah and the boys should be pulling in any minute!! See you all tomorrow!
