The weather here is still going back-and-forth between spring and colder weather, but there are days when it's been pleasant to be outdoors and enjoy.
In the fall, we put up some wire mesh fence around some shrubs and bushes to help cut down on rabbit and deer damage over winter, we took that fencing down yesterday. I noticed that the daffodils are blooming - really happy to see that, I wasn't sure how well they'd do after the warmer, dry winter we had...plus they sprouted early and we got snow/freezing weather after they sprouted. Not quite time to plant seeds or started plants yet, but are getting prepared - purchasing potting soil for the herb pots, things like that. Have started to notice earlier sunrise / later sunset. That should be good motivation to walk in morning or evening!

I'm still reading the article, but had to interrupt myself to say I'd LOVE to walk on an empty beach but around here, people surf all year long; there's never an "empty" beach... And it seems too late to be hosting an Easter Egg hunt... I do love, however, steaming whole artichokes (I do it in the microwave: rinse and then wrap each artichoke in plastic wrap [like Saran Wrap] after trimming the top and bottom, then steam in the microwave, turning after each minute; it should take anywhere from 2 minutes per artichoke to 4 tops) and enjoying one leaf at time until I get to the heart, which I'll pop into my mouth (after clearing out all the "hairs") and just chewing and enjoying thoroughly; I don't even dip into anything like butter since joining WW more than a decade ago!
I'll be back to finish reading the article later. Wednesday is my day to walk with the group of women a friend told me about (she doesn't walk with them; her work and her kids demand more of her time now).

Here in Middle TN, it looks like the whole world is in bloom! The dogwoods trees are amazing. They are really strutting their stuff this year. The woods are full of them & that look like a blanket of snow in the forests. The tulips are lovely. My iris are budding!!! I can't wait for them to open up. My daffodils have already bloomed & are almost gone. The redbud trees are lovely. Seems like anything that can bloom is blooming. I don't have a snowball bush, but everyone that I see from the road is gorgeous. Different colors of bushes are in full bloom! Our cherry tree is beautiful, it is almost ready to shed the blooms, but it has been just lovely. I don't think that there is any place on earth more beautiful than this one in the spring. Of course, we pay for this with the heat & humidity of July & August. Then, everything is screaming for water & drying up. I, myself, wilt like a flower, I hate it!
Since I am 600 miles from the nearest beach, that's not an option, wish it was. Now, with DH being so sick, our trips to the beach are over.
I have some tomato plants sprouting inside under a florescent light. I will transfer them to larger pots soon & start putting them out in the sun for part of every day. I am cutting back on the annual flowers this year, but I will do a few. Anxious to get my back porch cleaned off, I have bought new cushions for the chairs. Hopefully, DH will be able to sit out there with me.
