C81. D15. TRE / IF. Back on track.
Meg - way to go with the 18/6. And whoot whoot about the trip to Spain. That sounds delightful!!
Lori - Sounds like a lovely weekend ahead of you!
Jan - hope you are doing well. Have to work this weekend?
Nancy - Can you donate unopened food to a food shelf? I think protein is important and eat some at every meal. Also, I invest in the healthiest food I can. As much organic as possible and I only eat grassfed beef, preferably organic (ok - that's what we raise on our farm) and the same with chicken. Where I live all the lamb is pasture raised. This is one of the best investments you can make. Even when I was an improverished, starving student I bought whole, organic food and saved money by cooking from scratch (organic rice, beans, veggies and meat when I could afford it)
Off to see the Sandhill Cranes in Kearney, Nebraska! Then on to Fort Collins for dinner with my niece, and then settle into Boulder CO for the rest of the week.

Kathy - I do buy organic when available. Even so, I find my food bills on the low side since I'm limiting new purchases to whole foods. We have a place to bring unopened food at the clubhouse. It goes to food pantries. I will bring anything unopened there. OK protein at every meal. I'll try to take your advice.

Good morning. Feeling pretty hopeful today, though my cold is still lingering. Yesterday was mostly strong: I caved to ice cream after dinner, BUT there was no snacking the whole day. Yay!
Kathy: Enjoy your drive and audio-books, and time with your niece. Give us an update on your boys: are they finishing their first year of college? I forget.
Nancy: Love to see you going for more whole and less processed foods. That can only be good.
Waving to jan and Lori.
Peace.

Oh my goodness, I’ve had such a productive day! DH is in MI helping his mom straighten out a huge mess, so it was nice to have him out of the way to get a bunch of cleaning done.
I am loving the challenge of adding more plants and cutting out the foods that aren’t so great for me. I made more oat bars yesterday: white beans, ripe bananas, organic oats, shredded carrots, berries….I added a cup of spinach to my protein drink this afternoon and had sugar snap peas and an apple to hold me over while I ran an errand and stopped at Nick’s.
Meg, 18/6, I love it! Madrid, what an exciting trip that will be. I love frequent flyer miles. We’re using them to travel to CA in June for a wedding. Hopefully your cold is getting gradually better.
Kathy, you have some fun travel this week! I am not working this weekend, thank goodness.
Nancy, I would definitely get rid of the fiber one brownies and the Nutrisystem food. Kashi cereal I would keep if I were you. Not all processed food is bad; it does occasionally serve a purpose. How many cans of soup do you have left? It might come in handy in a pinch. Definitely keep the Triscuits and potato pancakes. I just finished a book called The Lazy Genius and the basic gist of it is that it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. The same applies to our eating.
Lori, how is it already the middle of April?! Enjoy your break today. I’m so glad you have some respite care every so often.

Meg - I consider it an NSV if you can have a whole strong day and just cave to a little ice cream in the evening. Keep up the good work!
Jan - It means a lot that you agree with my few choices of things to keep. The only soup I have left is two cans of Progresso Savory Vegetable Beef Barley. Keep or toss? I'm thinking you'll say keep because of the nutritional value of the veggies. I never read The Lazy Genius (just downloaded a sample) but that's what I was thinking, ie be willing to make some exceptions as long as the ingredients aren't awful and especially if it's something I really like. It's great that you're accomplishing so much in DH's absence. When Ed was a commercial photographer, he would go on photo shoots. I thought I'd move mountains in his absence, instead I would just walk around the house like a lost soul.
