Nothing going on here. Got the quote on replacing the water line and he said it will depend on if it takes half a day or the whole day but the most it would be is $2,000. I told Fred these next few months are going to be expensive as in a couple of weeks the tree guy will be coming to trim the branches off a tree that hangs over the house which is $1,200. Then if he ever gets a landscaper out to roll the backyard there will be that expense and have no idea what that will be but I’m sure at least $1,000. Then four college graduations - two grandsons getting bachelors, Maija’s boyfriend Tim getting his bachelors and our granddaughter Morgan getting her Masters before entering med school this summer. Then the wedding in August. Plus the boarding of Rosie for the college graduations in Missouri - can’t attend all of them as they’re all on the same weekend. Then the wedding which also means boarding Rosie. Plus the cost of hotels and of course an outfit for me for the wedding. WHEW! Oh well just go with the flow. Fred just says well we have the money so not a problem as far as he’s concerned. He feels we’ve helped our kids when they need it so he isn’t hanging onto money just to leave it to them and if there’s any left when we die fine and if not that’s fine as well.

Greetings! Been a few days again. Been so busy between work and the pipe leak it's been crazy around here. The good news is things are progressing. Yesterday the insurance company sent out ServPro to help go through the boxes in the garage and assess damage. And the good thing is there wasn't near the amount of damage as I feared.
Traffic at Publix has dropped dramatically the last week or so. Haven't heard anything about cutting hours yet (this is the time of year it was done last year) but it's bound to happen. Not sure what the issue is. Is it "snowbirds" have headed back north already or is it the economy. I do know I hear more and more complaints about prices.
I work today a very short shift only 11-3. I suspect I'll be giving out samples as we have a "food" event at Publix today. I hate samples as every kid who walks in the place wants one and parents expect you to cater to the kids. It's like a free lunch time for them.
Duke's ear infection has cleared up. However, his seasonal allergies are getting worse. He's been such a very good boy with workers in and out. Need to walk Duke so need to get going. Bye for now!

Sandy I know what you mean about the money going out. We got the quote for flooring late yesterday. The labor is almost the same as the material. Now we have to choose between carpet and vinyl planks. Of course I didn’t get to sleep very quickly for wondering about little things. I decided to flip through my phone (a no-no) and stumbled upon a prayer at bed time and fell right to sleep.
Vicki I agree with Karen E that we’d like some of that rain too. I’m fearful it will be another hot and dry summer.
This afternoon we’ll attend a 90th birthday party for a former boss whom I liked a lot. It will be held at the golf course clubhouse in the next town.
I called DB in the hospital yesterday but he didn’t answer. I’ll try again today.
Joan at Cracker Barrel I ordered one of the breakfast combos. It was just ok but not like home cooking. There were plenty of customers and lots of help so service was good at least. We too were reminded we always ate at a CrackerBarrel when traveling.
I’m working on a grocery list. First I need to decide what meals I’ll make and that is the hardest part.

Good morning 🌞.
55°, but it is lovely out. Dash and I took a nice long walk. The laundry is on. The coffee is done. And Dash is going down for his morning nap...
Me I'm about to take the sip of my first morning cup of coffee. All is well with the world. At least I hope so.
I'm not surprised to hear that traffic and Publix has slowed down. Most of the snowbirds do leave after Easter or sometimes just before...
It sounds like a few people have had issues with plumbing lately. Never a good thing! A couple of years ago I had a huge pipe burst right outside my front door next to my air conditioning unit. Luckily since I live in a townhouse community anything outside is the responsibility of the HOA. Normally they are slow to respond to anything but when it was an emergency like this they actually got a plumber out very quickly to turn off the water at the main.

Good morning. We need rain too. My grass looks bad even though our sprinklers use our lake water. We are on automatic systems and they are not enough.
I guess I will do laundry since I don’t have to go anywhere .
The book I am reading was one I thought might be fun but turns out it is a YA. So it is about high school. One reason I picked it was because it fit in my purse so I could carry it to appointments.
The menu at Pinchers was interesting because some of the items had a choice of regular or less. The less was right for all three of us. Seeing Donna’s DD Jennifer reminded me that I last saw her when her DD was very ill and we were afraid she would die. Thankfully she recovered and is out of high school now. Donna has a huge family .
Sandy you have a lot of family events happening and it sounds like you will be very busy so just enjoy all of it.
Now I have a whole week to think about that brain scan. The traffic coming home from Naples is really heavy so Saturday should be better. It was a shock to see the RedLobster closed. The one in Ft Myers is not ina good location so we always liked the one in Naples. Now I wonder if the FM one is open. Closing that one makes sense but not the Naples one.

Greetings: I want to get the QOTD out. We have a DGS baseball game this morning. It's a little cool at the moment, but I think it's getting warmer. Yesterday here was absolutely lovely. Bill said it was just like an early June day and I think he's right.
He's doing so well with his diabetes. He's just shut down excessive carbs cold turkey. We went to dinner last night, burgers, no buns, just on lettuce leaves, and he talked about how he's a litle depressed. I see it, too, and I told him I think it's going from so much sugar and so many carbs down to nothing. It's like the kids. When they get too much sugar they bounce and when he's had too much he's wide awake and ready to go. But I digress.
I went to my exercise classes Thurs and Fri. We're also shifting into higher gear with taxes, gathering documents. We'll extend this year and send everything off in a box to the tax preparer hopefully next week unless we hit a hitch or something.
QOTD (From the box)
1. What was your most memorable meal ever?
2. Which do you think is more important, intelligence or common sense?
----
He does miss desserts. Right now we're heave into yogurt and fruits. And nuts. Nuts are really good for diabetics. He found a ranking. Brazil nuts are first, but they have something in them that means you should eat only 3 a day. We'll probably buy a few at Sprouts from their bins and have him eat 1 or maybe 2 a day. He does need something to bolster his energy. Maybe discussion with the nutritionist, too, as I think about it.
Anyway, 3. do you have any low-carb recipes for desserts? I know, low carb is pretty tough in desserts.
Have a good day, all!

Good Morning Friends!
It is a gorgeous day and one of the last really nice weekends with no rain and no humidity. It is currently 67 and sunny. A perfectly gorgeous morning!
Today I have a hair cut scheduled. While we are out and about I will get my diamond ring checked and cleaned. Then we are going to Outback for dinner and will walk around the Krate shops when we are done. BBL

Ok daily walk done. Let me say this old lady really realizes when I miss a few days walking. Haven’t been walking because of the wind. I got steps in yesterday but at Menards and places like that. That’s different. Checked every place for Purple leaf plum trees. No one has them in stock but Home Depot said the would ship to my house. The picture looks like the one we had. So I ordered two. Hope I will be happy with them. Guess that means packing water for awhile.
I have to rest a bit before I start something else. Sisters will be arriving about noon. There will be more walking outside as Debra wants some peony starts. Good luck to her, they are hard to dig and barely above the ground. We will do what we can. 80’s today, ugh 😑
1. What was your most memorable meal ever? You may think I’m crazy but I believe our most memorable meal was our KFC supper on our wedding night. At least it’s the one I remember most. We have have many banquet meals, Eaten with the President of Hubbard Milling Company, meals in Spain, Bahamas , many others but not that memorable.
2. Which do you think is more important, intelligence or common sense? Common sense but they kinda go hand in hand. I know some very intelligent well read people but with out common sense some of them have nothing.
I could be wrong because I have never dealt with diabetes before, thankfully. But I think everyone need a dessert once in awhile. If Bill enjoys his desserts there are so many out there that can be lowered in sugar and carbs. He needs to be a happy person as well as healthy. My one brother is diabetic and his lady friend bakes him cookies and brownies. I am sure they must be reduced or sugar free, I really can’t say. Good luck, I have faith you will find a way to help him.

Good afternoon ladies.
Wordle 1,029 4/6
🟩⬜🟩⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
We have lots of sunshine today with no more rain predicted until Tuesday. It's not as windy today as it was yesterday.
Karen and Sharon, I would gladly send you some rain if I could. We've certainly gotten more than our share over the past few days. I hope both of you get some soon.
Karen C, there are quite a few diabetic friendly dessert recipes online and I'm sure the nutritionist has some good ideas for desserts. Monk fruit is a really good substitute for sugar in recipes so you can use your own recipes and make them lower in carbs. I agree with Karen E that everyone needs a dessert once in awhile.
Pat, I hope your hours at Publix don't get cut too drastically.

2. Which do you think is more important, intelligence or common sense?
AOTD: 1. I've had many wonderful meals but I can't think of one in particular that I would call most memorable.
2. Definitely common sense. I've worked with many people who are very book smart but had zero common sense. Makes you shake your head sometimes and wonder how they got as far as they did.

Howard’s birthday party was so fun. I got to see many people I worked with at the bank. What a huge crowd. Howard is 90 today and his wife Marjorie not far behind. She organized this event at her age and it was perfect.
AOTD
1. What was your most memorable meal ever? Sautéed scallops overlooking the bay in Galveston Tx. Or blackened red fish in Corpus Christi. That was a good food trip.
2. Which do you think is more important, intelligence or common sense? Definitely common sense. It’s also harder to come by than intelligence. Common sense breeds intelligence
Karen C can Bill have any artificial sweeteners? I’m thinking of the jello and pudding thing we used to make using sugar free items. I think the crustless strawberry pie is an example.

We are home and both of us are exhausted. After my haircut we went to the jewelers. They will have my diamond ring for 2 weeks but I am very confident with this jeweler as the jewelry does not leave the premises. While we were there we looked around and Mike found me some beautiful diamond hoop earrings that he bought me early for my 75th birthday next month and I am wearing them now. They are beautiful and he spent too much for them. I would have been happy with something more modest but he said this was a monumental birthday and the gift should be special. We went to Lowe's to pick up additional things he need for the camper (hose connectors, Ortho Home Defense spray for ants & spiders around the campsite, etc.).
We had dinner at Outback and walked around The Krates shops. We stopped at the crystal shop and I picked up some Oracle cards. Mostly motivational, oracle cards prompt you to reflect on their messages and may even have an action or question to consider. One of the gals at my meditation retreat had a deck. Of course, we stopped at one of the Krate shops for gelato. It was a fun day.
QOTD (From the box)
1. What was your most memorable meal ever? This is hard, but to me every meal I had in Italy was very memorable. The food was so fresh tasting and good there.
2. Which do you think is more important, intelligence or common sense? Street smart and common sense are more important than book smart and intelligence, IMHO. Michelle has a photographic memory and did not apply herself in school but I can't say she is lacking in common sense, though she is not as street smart as her sister. Jaimie has lots of good common sense and was street smart and could get out of any situation just by using her common sense. Growing up though, she thought she was not very smart, which was not true. Learning just did not come as easy to her as it did to her sister. She started college but didn't finish and went back. She graduated from University of Florida Cum laude. She was 43 but she did it!

1. What was your most memorable meal ever? I don't remember what we ate, but we went to a fancy dinner while in Japan. Sat among all sorts of dignitaries and it was a formal, old fashioned sitting on the floor dinner. I couldn't get up from the floor and needed to be helped up. I can still remember us all laughing and how embarrassed I was.
2. Which do you think is more important, intelligence or common sense? Definitely common sense and as Ruth said, street smarts. I know so many people that are so highly intelligent that they are literally stupid. The ones you say don't know enough to come in out of the rain!
Busy day here and my knees are throbbing. Ruth, you'll have to post a picture with your new earrings. Sound pretty.
Wishing everyone a great Sunday.
