Good Morning ladies... SENSIBLE Saturday... We can do this!!
I have my breakfast and lunch prepped. The sun is shining this morning, but afraid by the time I get my hair done, and the girls get here it looks like the rain & wind will start again! I was hoping to take them for a walk to the playground, but that won't be much fun in the rain! We definitely don't need more rain! I am pumping water off the pool cover and it is just puddling - the grounds is already so wet it can't absorb anymore.
I got the front porch set up yesterday, so if the temps stay warmer, maybe they can have lunch out there. We'll see.
Gabrielle: Please remember these long days if they ask you to come back to work after retirement!
Jenny: Ouch! Please be careful, we don't want that to get infected when it "pops"!
OK Time to get ready to leave for my hair appointment, might be back later.
♥hugs♥

Good morning....
Lost my first post (internet issues) but will try to get a few things out before getting ready to leave to join the group for a not-too-long run. DH is coming with me but is still taking it easy after last weekend's long run. I hope to stop by Costco on the way home if we are not drenched (there is a bathroom to change into some dryer clothes). I have a mani/pedi this afternoon---YAY! But the rain and snow is back this weekend. I need to also get a good grocery list together after missing out on a "regular" weekend last weekend.
Carole: Enjoy your haircut! I hope that you and the girls can enjoy being out on the new porch area--it is time to be able to use that great, new space! The girls seem to have hit ages where the tend to get along better so I hope that plays out today. So I tweeked my retirement date yesterday (not for work, but for the retirement system). I told work that my last day working would be 7/1/24. The retirement system had that as my first day of retirement. The difference is that, if I work one day in July, my benefits are covered for an additional month! So the sent me the form to take care of that and we got the other form they messed up figured out too. But now we got a bill for DH's Medicare through July and I have the papers where I indicated he was covered on my insurance through July....so now they told me to call Social Security--UGH. And it is during work hours...so frustrating. I wish that DH would take care of this. Oh well. Hey, good job getting your meals planned! I hope that you have a good day and a break in the rain to take a walk with the girls.
Jenny: OUCH! Carole is right, it is pretty common to get infections from burns--be careful! Oh, they hurt so badly at first---and nothing seems to take the sting away. Hoping that you have lovely weather for your celebration! I think that you are probably getting that meat ready for the smoker!
Hello to all who follow. I need to get ready to head out. I hope to pop in later today.

Good Saturday Morning!!
I slept in today until about 6:00 but the spent over 30 minutes on Colby duty! UGH Remember how we had a rough week around here with unexpected bills and taxes coming up? Add to it our ColbyGirl - she broke, severely broke a toe nail. It was dangling but bleeding everywhere! My carpets! NO! Linds called me at work to say she couldn't get the bleeding to stop and of course Colby was not cooperating and staying put. The blood was soaking through everything - so I called the vet and Linds immediately took her in for an emergency appointment ($$$) but we had to get that bleeding to stop. The vet was so kind - fortunately the nail could be popped right off the rest of the way. Otherwise they would have to risk putting her under anesthesia to remove it. And at her ripe old age, anesthesia is not recommended. I have no idea what they would have done but anyways, the bleeding clotted on it's own and she came out with her Cone. Plus antibiotics and ibuprofen (which we already had here for her!) and not too bad of a vet bill. Thankfully Linds was off from work and had the time to take care of our Girl. The cone is sooo long to prevent her getting her paw. Which trust me, Colby would immediately lick that paw and pull off any scab. Now the drama begins...she knocks into everything, knocks over her water dish (what a mess!), can't navigate the deck steps and keep her balance so that's a whole other issue...I finally, in 6:00AM got her outside (in the rain) only to have turn into a pouty girl and she laid right down in the wet soggy muddy yard! UGH. Seriously?? I finally got her back in the house, cleaned her paws, fed her breakfast then spent more time mopping up spilt water and tracked mud. And it's STILL raining which means this mud has no time to soak into the ground. I cringe knowing this will be my day - lol
Meanwhile, DH Gary bought new car tires for one of our cars. WHA?? IT'S TAX SEASON and he spent all this money on tires because "it was a good deal" and the sale ends today. How the heck are we paying for tires on top of everything else? I was so mad - ya gotta laugh. Life throws you curveballs, right? Just back from dropping off the car at the Tire garage. Linds has an early work shift so she'll take my car at 10:30. Which means NO CAR for errands today. When DH gets home from work (3:00) we'll head down to pick up the car with new tires. Lindsey was sweet, asked if I was okay with her leaving me without a car today. Ummm yep. Thanks for asking, but guess what? I'll have a ME DAY with no errands to run and no one else home! I'm actually quite tickled about staying put on such a rainy cold day. I might clean out a closet then treat myself to a quiet afternoon on the couch with a book or Netflix

Jo - how beautiful the mountains look and peaceful! Good job finding such a sweet spot for your Anniversary get-away. Was last night the ghost tour? I hope the rains stopped!
Jenny - ouch ouch ouch. Looks painful. I hope your Birthday gathering for your DD goes off without a hitch! So smart of you to have the sisters bring the rest of the food - you are hosting plus providing the smoked brisket. It's all good! Hope the weather continues to be nice!
Gabrielle - hopefully your 'not too long' run went well today. Those are some crazy long work days you are putting in! My friend, Jill, the retiring teacher left early yesterday to join a zoom 1:1 with the retirement guy. She wanted her husband in on the zoom call in case she mixed anything up - Are you seriously thinking about contracting after 6 months?? I just hate to think it would be consuming like now. Good News on booking more places for your NE Adventure! I didn't realize you were touring in Canada too! We LOVE Canada - so clean and crisp and nice! We love the Toronto area but if you ask any Canadians they say, WHY? Toronto to them is the 'dirtiest city' LOL LOL Apparently they've never been to NYC!! You will have so much FUN! And I'll remember as that is the same weekend as Carly's Wedding!!
Sue - I heard you landed in San Antonio ?? Whew. Sounds like the layover between Houston and San Antonio was a tight one! We JUST booked our flights to Amelia Island for October post-Wedding/our Anniversary trip. Went with Southwest. Most affordable out of Pittsburgh. We fly into Jacksonville, FL then drive the 45 minutes north to Amelia Island. Some day, when we retire, we will stay much longer than just a few days. Enjoy your family time! Will you and Jason take a side-trip to tour areas you want to? Isn't there a beautiful River Walk there? I hope you get some time for just the 2 of you.
Carole - we are in the 30s and high winds here still. Some areas will get snow. Not us, but still - brrr - I can't even think about planting my flowers until end of MAY anymore. I hope your hair appointment was nice. I had a massage this past Thursday - yep, when she was finished I thought, now what? I could barely sit up from the table, my back! LOL (Thought of you). She did warn me to be slow and easy. I usually drink a LOT of water on massage days as Jenn does a lot of hard kneading on my upper shoulders area due to all my typing/contract reports work. I feel great now! But ohh boy, those initial minutes following a good massage are tough and slow moving LOL Hoping today you can use your front porch - I'm so glad you got it set up. Hey, your new Kitchen update sound wonderful!! Yes, keep your newer cabinets if you like them! I kept mine. You will love Quartz counter top! I love mine! And so easy to keep clean - plus, it's the "Baker's Choice" for kitchens! You can roll out dough smack on it with no worries. I spray mine down every so often with DAWN Powerspray, rinse with a soft cloth, and dry with a soft cloth. Ta Da ~ very easy. Our stone is mostly white with swirls of grays that can look beige depending on the light. Our back splash is off-white tile with beige/gray/brown (tiny tiles accent to match the woodwork) - all tied in nicely. Oof, my fridge sticks out. I never thought about it going back deeper - it's not a big deal here. Plus WHERE would we cut back into to deepen that space? The 1st floor half-bath is behind it and trust me, it's small enough! LOL I hope another guy shows up to take a look at your project ideas. So disappointing when contractors pull a no-show!
Okay - time to flip the laundry and who knows??? I should work on another contract report and maybe spend a little time decluttering one closet. THEN I'll veg!

We're baassck! We didn't go on the ghost tour. Lesson leased don't book tours until you get there. It was poring again. All in all we had a nice trip. It was good to get away but I'm glad we are back. We stopped at this little diner we have been to before then headed home. We missed Emilie. Steven picked her up to take her to work at 10am. It's finally sunny here. Erie said it pored the whole time we were gone.

Afternoon all….had a nice visit with DM yesterday and ate an early dinner of just pizza with her, then home to Jim and Annie’s to just visit for a while and the we all crashed….with the hour time change for us and getting up at 3:30 on Friday, we were exhausted. Slept until about 6:20 which my “body clock” said was 7:20 so feel pretty good today…Rachel’s bed is only a full size which in itself is tough for us who have a queen size and it’s soft so I know I will be pretty lame and longing for my own bed by the time we leave.
Today we got over to DM’s to do the “weekly chores” like trash, clean the bathroom, strip the bed, etc and then to Olive Garden for lunch. After lunch we went back to DM’s and I FaceTimed with my cousin Lisa in FL….mom loved it!! Now we are back to Jim’s for the evening, will eat dinner shortly and then plan to play some games and do some puzzles and just visit some more.
This trip mom looks great!! Talking to Jim and Annie they said she FINALLY understands that Kris was NOT taking care of her and that the best thing she did was move down with Jim and Annie handling her affairs….she looks and acts healthier, she is less “dragged up” and all in all in a much better space. She is starting to socialize more, and all in all seems to have finally settled….
Also today when at mom’s I told her we would FaceTime with Hannah and family tomorrow when she is here but what she doesn’t know is we will also FT with her “baby sister” Auntie June!! Auntie June is so excited!! Mom was so happy to FT with Lisa today and she will VERY excited to chat with Auntie June.
I did take time to read all the posts but can’t keep it all straight….Jenny, I do remember you burnt your hand, hope it is improving and healing!! Sorry to all having tax and retirement/SS/insurance issues….hope that gets resolved quickly. I do also remember Christine and poor ColbyGirl’s paw and Lind’s loan and class credit problems….thinking of all of you but trying to be “present” here and not on technology!!
Have a great rest of your Saturday…..will try and pop in later or tomorrow!!
