Good morning! Talked to both children and our grandchildren this weekend. Our daughter and her husband cooked their first meal in the new house and enjoyed the way they planned their kitchen. Hopefully they will find furniture they like soon so they can have it delivered and move in fully.
I caught a cold somewhere and had trouble sleeping last night. I couldn't mouth-breathe so tried to sleep sitting up and THAT wasn't comfy so gave up to read at 2am and then we lost electricity so I tried again to sleep and did get a few restless hours in. Today will be a long day. Hope tonight will be easier and I know the cold will be gone in a few days....viruses don't usually linger forever, thankfully.
Yes I Did: Track every BLT, stay OP, check in with my sister on how I did with the tracking, and stayed positive Yes I Can: Track again today, hydrate, think positive, check in with my sister, finish the book before it archives and then review it.
CAROL: I will tackle taxes and FATCA later today. I have the information for the FATCA and had no income but may need to post the interest (if there was any) on the investment funds. Will figure that out later. I also think that living overseas I have an automatic extension till June 15 so won't sweat it too much.
Here's hoping we all have a great week this week!

Good Monday evening positive peeps! Stay safe Cathy. Sounds like you are both wise to the ways of things there. Still scary though! Carol, Happy belated birthday and I'm sorry about the death of your friend's mom. ugh taxes, well we filed our extension as usual LOL. Your in-laws sound about the same. I have just kept my distance with them and left any dealing with hubby. He is back and I believe things are settled or just about. Jan, yes for being back on track. Hoping you meet your 10 lb off by surgery time. Waves Janet and Sally! Yes I CAN: -Get myself back to tracking everything (fell off track last several days!) -Get my steps in. -Keep kitchen closed -Start practicing better sleep hygiene! Turn off tablet.... See you hopefully tomorrow! Nat

I sound like a basso profundo opera singer this morning...or perhaps a fog horn. The cold virus is the culprit and what also gave me creaky knees and fingers this morning. At least I was able to breathe while sleeping last night, don't have a fever, and am feeling better than some past cold viruses have made me feel! I figure in a few days I will be good as new.
We have leftovers for lunch and a variety to choose from and then reheat. I heard from the New Zealand romance authors group about judging for their KORU contest and have six books to read and evaluate before June 30th. Should be easy BUT still have all the other books, too.
YES I DID: Get the FATCA/FBAR forms submitted online, find out that I need to fill out the 1040 probably in hard copy and submit it by snail mail rather than pay a company to do it as I don't owe any taxes and can't see paying someone to fill out the paperwork. I have till June 15 so will get it done and in the mail and perhaps even take it myself if I travel to the USA before then.
Yes I CAN: check in again with my sister on what I eat today, stay OP, make healthy choices, hydrate, etc
BOOKS: Finished and wrote the review for HARD CONTACT by Cameron Curtis - part of the Breed Thriller Series. This time Breed is in the Aegean Sea with one of the bosses and an insurance person seeking billions of dollars in gold bullion that has gone missing. He is ex-military and somewhat of a mercenary doing a variety of jobs in the various books. This time he uses mountain climbing, underwater, and fighting skills to survive and thrive while finding the bad guys. Next up is a sci-fi book (I think) that I started and find confusing. Perhaps it is because the main character awakes to a dead people in a hotel room with him and is a bit confused himself. I am trying to figure out what it is about and if I don't figure it out soon...may read the end, skim the middle, and move on.
NAT: Glad you don't have to deal with inlaws and especially so when there might be contentious issues to deal with. I am glad you were able to get the extension on the filing of taxes.

Yes I Did: Track every BLT, check in with my accountability partner/sister, had healthy meals, stayed positive, and thought positively about booting the cold visiting on its way
Yes I Can: Track, be accountable, hydrate, stay positive, and KOKO
My husband just left to buy more produce. I will be reheating some of the leftovers for lunch and then will be reading this afternoon.
BOOKS: finished skimming and reviewing The Night Time is the Right Time - and was as confused at the end as at the beginning and in the middle. Next up is Broken Crown by M.J. Crouch. This author usually writes contemporary romance that has suspense and did a series of romantic suspense with older couples. She also has a series coming out after this one that will have "brothers" that are not necessarily related but have created a brotherhood under one paternal figure. The paternal figure has had his story told already and next up will be the ten younger men's stories.

Thought I had checked in since the 17th but seems I haven't. Perhaps I had cold virus brain fog...who knows. this is day 6 of the cold so should be back to "normal" soon. Scale is going down, am eating healthy food, have two events next week, and am happy to be me. My daughter sent photos of OLD photos taken when she was a baby and of "bun warmers" I wore in high school, gave to her to take to college that she has not worn since college, and may now go to my granddaughters (or a museum). Amazing how they are still bright because they stayed in their boxes (Jerome Alexander boxes) for the entire time they were not in use.
Yes I have strung days together of healthy OP eating Yes I can continue to do the same today
Will write a review later today, reheat leftovers for lunch, and have a good day.

Happy Saturday Evening.
Tried checking in yesterday but had computer glitch. I am back now. Our last guests, brother-in-law and girlfriend, left on Thursday. Friday, we had so much to do that I have been putting off. Bought a lemon tree for the backyard and today worked all afternoon planting zinnias and watering the abundant larkspur. Lots of bouquets! Love having fresh flowers around. Our trip to the mountains last Wednesday was really nice. I truly have never seen it so green and beautiful. The town of Julian where we always go is an old mining town. Storefronts almost all original to the late 1800's. Really quaint. I did not buy a bunch of goodies like usual. Showing restraint because I want to hit my 10 lb target for June surgery. I find out the exact date on Monday.
Cathy: Watching the news and hoping you can come to the U.S. soon. Hope your cold is all gone and you've got your voice back. Must be going around because I know 2 people who have had that same thing. Be safe and well friend.
Nat: I need better sleep too! Don't you find eating a healthy diet is so much easier when you are well rested? I have been waking up at 3:30 am every night. Frustrating when you can't get back to sleep.
Be back tomorrow and sweet dreams all.
Jan

Good morning friends! I am on the mend and feel like the cold is finally almost on its way out. It is day 7 today and colds usually last about 7-10 days. My husband said it was the "worst" I've ever had and I had to remind him that having pneumonia was a LOT worse than this common variety cold virus has been.
We talked to our daughter yesterday and hope to talk to our son tonight. I will send my son and his wife an email asking when is best to come visit and hope to do so before my granddaughters head back to school at the end of the summer. Tickets are always a hassle because I usually go to four places: Missouri, Alabama, and northern and southern California. In some ways I'd like to go spend a couple weeks with each of my children and skip my siblings BUT as we are getting older (siblings) I would hate to miss time I could have spent with them. So, we will see.
Today I plan to go to the grocery store to buy ingredients for the pudding I will take to the pudding tasting on Tuesday. Might pick up a bottle of wine to take to the lunch I'm invited to on Wednesday, too. I have books to read and it will be a good day.
Yes I Can: Stay OP, track every BLT, and stay positive, keep the scale moving down Yes I Did: Stay OP and track it all yesterday
Books: Finished Make Him by Kelly Finley and started The Deepest Kill by Lisa Black. Read the end of the book and am going to skim the middle as there are five that will be archived soon...and...had a feeling I knew who the murderer was when I read the first or second chapter - and was correct.
Fun thing: My daughter has been sending photos of items she is finding as she unboxes stored items that she put away almost a decade ago. Kind of like opening a time capsule. Anyway, she shared photos of her first birthday (boy was I young), a photo of me when I was three (even younger) and one of bun covers/warmers that I wore in HS, sent to college with her, and are now over fifty years old. So, for fun, will share that photo here:
