Happy Day All!
Nothing much going on here except the normal laundry, a bit of work in the yard and both of us trying to get over these colds. I've thought mine was all allergies, but then DH came down with it - along with a fever.
Oh - how could I forget this! Yesterday morning I let Charlie out early with the normal routine. He barked a bit as usual - no telling at what. Then quit and I thought he was heading back to the front porch as usual. I was sitting at my computer when I heard him cry out, really loudly. Here the first thing you think of is a bear, and there's been a big one around lately caught on neighbor's game cameras. When I got to the front door, he was standing there with his head hanging down and didn't move when I called him in. Just stood there. Couldn't see any blood, but he was sure acting weird - or really not acting at all.
I found a place just a bit off from his left eye that looked like a stick had poked him. It was pretty bloody, but not running so didn't see it at first. I cleaned it really well and it quit oozing after a time. He would still just stand in one place with his head down. Really scared me! I kind of tested to see if each eye could follow my finger (fresh in my mind from just being at the eye doctor). He could, and he could hear me, but not much reaction at all. I got on the bed and called him, and he could jump up there okay. I was debating taking him to the emergency vet, but the only one on the weekend is in Chattanooga! Finally he got to moving around a bit, but wasn't himself until late in the afternoon. He's fine today. Whew! We have different theories about what got him, but I'm convinced he ran into a stick as there were a lot of small branches down from all the wind. I just wanted to snuggle him all day. I know y'all understand.
Today we're going to smoke ribs, including one slab for the neighbor. It tickles me she's so excited about it! We probably wouldn't be doing it if she wasn't! LOL!
Nothing else of importance going on here. I did a bit of trimming in the yard yesterday and have to go pick it all up today. Breathing is still a bit difficult with a runny nose, but it's so gorgeous outside. I can't do a lot at once, but every little bit helps. You all put me to shame with everything you accomplish in a day!
Have a great one! Cheers!
