People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.
The Questions of the day: Monday; Tuesday: Joan; Wednesday: Sharon; Thursday: Ruth; Friday: Recipe Sharing; Saturday: Karen C; Sunday: Gail

Nothing going on here except do have to get to the store for groceries and also need to make a PetSmart run to get more dog food for Rosie. Of course for that she’ll go with us.

Greetings!
Last night was the last GriefShare meeting in this session. We won't meet again until August. I'm really going to miss these meetings. It's not the videos, they are good and a wealth of information but the camaraderie of the group. I have signed up for a third session. I can't tell you how much GriefShare has helped me.
I work a short shift today (10-2). Lots of short shifts recently. Not sure what's going on but something is, you can feel it in the air.
Summer is on it's way. Weather here is warming up.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

good morning. Rain in the forecast but badly needed. picture out my sunroof window. Gracie is watching birds and tail is swishing like crazy. by noon I'll own this house and have my other house sold. I'll be poorer but happier. Pat so glad you have gotten benefits from griefshare. maybe shorter shifts because students will soon be returning home from school. I feel like this is my first normal morning in over three weeks and I like it. It been strange having only Gracie. I'll get the dogs back this afternoon. Anxious because no fence or doggie door yet. A learning curve for all of us.

Geri, congratulations on the move. Enjoy those beautiful sunrises from your new bedroom.
Good morning.
Sam went with Dash and I on a morning walk. That was very pleasant even though there were very few birds down at the lake.
Such good news about my right knee! I do not need surgery. I do have arthritis in that knee. Along with patella alta, which means a floating knee cap.
No surgery! Just PT to strengthen the muscles. He wants me to strength the quadricep muscle group. He said that this is to reduce knee pain due to osteoarthritis because it builds support for the knee joint.
He wants me to strengthen my quads. If the pain gets bad again maybe a cortisone shot but I don't need it for now.
Enjoy your day.

We're going to have another pretty day here with lots of sunshine and a temp of 80 degrees. More rain is moving in tonight and most of tomorrow morning though.
Joan, thanks for the quiz. I got them all right!
Pat, enjoy your short shift today. Maybe you can get together with some of the other GriefShare attendees between now and August for coffee some afternoon.
Shragae, that's wonderful news about not needing any additional surgery. Will you be going to therapy or did he give you exercises to do at home for your knee?
Geri, what a nice view from your window. Gracie is going to love watching all the birds. I'll bet she's chattering at them too!
I need to make an appointment for our HVAC company to come out for the yearly AC inspection/cleaning. I also need to set up our weekly meds and balance the checkbook later.

Shagrae yay no surgery! For now.
Vicki you seem to have our weather the following day. It was lovely yesterday but today cloudy and storms this evening.
Geri you have a lovely view. I enjoy my morning sunrise.
This morning was errand day. We picked up samples of the lvp. Of course the one I love is more expensive.

Shragae, good you won't need more surgery.

We are under severe storm warnings till 6. TOPS meeting has been canceled. There has been some wind damage in NW Iowa but so far some rain here. I have my internet shut down because of lightning and TV keeps going off and on due to weather interference with Dish Network. So down to phone. So keeping it short for now. I am safe at this moment.
Glad I got some work done outside yesterday.

Today was a really good day! I played Bunco with friends at the country club and won $40 (that is a big win as we don't generally have that many players). Afterward I got a pedicure. After the pedicure I decided to pick up this week's specials at Aldi's that I did not get a chance to shop for earlier. since it is the last day of the sale. Tidal Wave carwash is next door and my car was more than a little dirty. I was not sure of where to go in so I drove around a couple of times. Once I found the entrance the guy said I was good. I never paid. So I was trying to figure out how I got the FREE carwash. Was it Senior Day? Ladies Day? Or did the car in the next lane pay it forward and cover my carwash. I was more than ecstatic! I made a quick run into the health food store and Marshall's and came home.
Joan, I thought I did better than I did on your quiz. I knew the names of the songs but did not get all of the movies correct, even though I have seen every single on of them. I missed 5! YIKES!
Geri, I love your view! You are going to love it there!
Shragae, Yay! No surgery needed! That is AWESOME news! PT you can deal with.
Karen, I hope the storms pass you by. Stay safe!

We are safe and in the clear. Sun is shining, we could have had our meeting but one doesn’t know that ahead of time and we try to heed the weather personnel warnings when they tell you to stay home and stay safe. Going out in a bit to see if any mushrooms popped. I am just in my yard so not far from the house. Boo2 will follow along. We got 6 tenths inch of rain, was hoping for over an inch but will appreciate what we got.
Weigh wasn’t pretty this morning at our group meeting but no KFC this week so hoping things are better next week. Below goal by the skin of my teeth. Bought no candy, cookies, cake, crackers, chips, etc at store today. Have loads of veggies.
Geri your view looks relaxing. Enjoy your new surroundings. I probably need to make that move but haven’t convinced myself of that yet. Love my place here.
There is still a tornado warning in the very north west part of Iowa, kinda been hanging out up there for almost 2 hours, that storm system is only moving about 10 miles per hour. Most often a tornado pattern will move out quickly.
